He looks like if Ozzy Osbourne went to college and didn’t become an alcoholic
How does someone look like they went to college?
Looks like dude from puddle of mud did become an alcoholic
@@wandajames143 The joke is never as funny when you have to explain it, but ua-cam.com/video/0TPYI_Y3pWw/v-deo.html it doesn’t look like that. 😂
No he looks like a Maniac Cop Son
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
loved it. Loved how you showed the chart at the bottom with the squares!👍
Thanks, Sandra!
Why not hybrid pick?
Fun fact- that's a dreadnought guitar. He's just a giant.
🤣🤣🤣
Finally, a Blues Lesson with an actually acoustic guitar. Thank you!

I've been playing since about 1963 and it's amazing that even now I can pick up some little something watching vids like this.
If you're starting the blues, this is a GREAT shuffle to learn so practice it till yer fingers BLEED cos when you get this off, you're ON YOUR WAY!
Great lesson, TB.
I agree, I've always said, "You can learn something from everyone no matter what level you may be at yourself."
Never seen your channel until today. That's a good lesson and appreciate how well spoken you are.
Nice job.
Stay safe everyone. 😎😁
Thank you kindly. I appreciate that and thanks for watching!
great lesson!! quick and straight to the point, so little with so much to learn from! more like this please!
i also like playing with my thumb instead of a pick because it's not as loud and i don't wake up my wife in the morning when i practice and play.
You should check out Tommy Emmanuel and find out how good you could be with your thumb lol
I've been playing without a pick since '85, I kept dropping them and having to change the guitar sound with the knobs, so I just grow the nails on my thumb and first finger and strum with them. It gives me a wedge shape to play with when they're held together.
Ill keep her busy..while you play your blues..hahaha
Just a joke @
When he said"most of us playing the same shuffle pattern"i already heard it in my head before he even started playing it😂
Some artist have made careers out of 12 bar blues! That's sad and probably why they sing the blues all the time...😀
Didn’t know Bill Paxton played the blues!!
instantly thought the same thing....
Repent and put your trust in Jesus. We're all sinners and deserve Hell, but Christ died on the Cross for our sins. He didn't stay dead. He rose on the third day! If you repent and put your trust in Jesus, you will be saved!
Romans 3:23
John 3:16
Any coincidence that this guy looks like the late great Jeff Healey ?
I was just watching Roadhouse and thought the same thing...👍🍻
He looks alot like Canadas LATE GREAT JEFF HEALY!
I thought he looked like the late bill paxton... lol
@DH sorry LOL LOL LOL. You happy now. LOL
@DH Low IQ?! If you read my entire initial comment on this thread you would of noticed the lol without the quotations around it (unless that was your problem, no "") And for you to insult me behind the mask of the internet without any repercussion illustrates your moral character. You sir, are a nothing more than a bully, and just because you'll never see me face to face, I reported your hate speech to the youtube administrator.. "LOL"
Thanks so much man, l almost got the licks, a little help goes a long way,
It's hard to find blues lessons for beginners, especially in open g tuning, this was really helpful
Glad to hear that!
I love that guitar! What great sound from such a little beauty.
Awesome. Love that chord progression box. Brilliant. Thanks.
Thanks, Luke. I think it might be a regular thing from now on. Appreciate the feedback. Play on!
Tom brady plays guitar that’s cool as
I love stuff like this. 👍
Thanks, Stephen!
Thanks so much John, will keep on at this, gonna take a lot of practice
What the name of your guitar
I had a lot of fun with this, cheers bud 👍
Awesome Leigh 👍
This is great thanks a lot. Love your teaching skill... well done I,ll be doing that ..
Vincent, I'm on the intercom. Press the button if you wanna talk
Great trick rollin' the fingers from E to A. Thanks a lot. Very helpful to sound more interesting!!
I was thinking the same thing! Gotta practice that one
Yes....that rocks! Thanks a lot, that'll keep me going all day.
Heeeey, Bryan! Glad to hear that, enjoy the jam :)
I needed this to get me out of a rut and not too difficult. I would love to hear lesson in different key. I play so many songs in E :)
There are quite a few in other keys on the channel ;-)
@@BluesGuitarInstitute Thanks! This one is tricky.. Something about trying to bar all the strings to get that A7 chord while still in an E shape. Vey Bluesy :)
Ian McLean thanks... I kind of got that, but it's a weird to me 😄
So that's where my little brothers guitar went.....
is that a classical guitar with metal strings? Is that thing common and if so what is it called?
Thank you for your instructions. Your lesson is easy to practice.
Great lessons John,Rhythm and RIFFS ROLLING STONES my favorite Band KEEF and RONNIE'S WEAVE SO FINE,Having trouble with wide middle finger left hand,Finger movements are hard for me Gonna keep trying Thank You So Much Walter B Memphis Tn,
Just use the 12 bar platform as space to work in pentatonic structures.
👍
Thought that was Jeff Healey
I like Blues but could never get interested d in learning it because it all sounds like the same old rut... And you'd have to be a virtuoso blues player to make it sound more interesting (that's definitely not me). But your video has inspired me to give Blues another try and maybe it won't some and so boring and predictable. It's amazing what a bit of creativity can to yo transform a boring, predictable same old 12 bars chord progression and make it howl, scream, whatever... But it's still the same old chords pattern.... It's the basis of all more n music, though some might disagree...
This definitly takes some practice. Getting the rhythm is kinda tough but so much fun when you start getting it. Great lesson!
Right on, Antonio! 👍
What year and model is the guitar you are playing?
It's a Harlin Brothers guitar from the 30s. Not sure of any details beyond that. No labels or anything, just a stamp inside that says Harlin Bros. and I think it says Chicago, IL on there too.
Nice! You’ve pick up a new subscriber.
Thank you!!
Wat kind of guitar? Guild?
I must have one..
Oh yeah! Fun way to end the year! Happy New Year’s John👍👏👏👏
Enjoying the cords displayed!
Thanks, John! I think I'll make the chord tracker a regular thing. Happy New Year to you, buddy! Really appreciate you commenting on these videos 🎸👍
Love these short videos. Nice and easy to pick up. Happy new year. 😀
Hey John, thanks for the comment and happy to know you liked this one. Cheers and Happy New Year!
Cars hiss by my window?
Very kool
And interesting.
I love da blues.
What's the deal with these small bodied guitars. I've seen Clapton use one and other guitarists.
Thanks! I love blues from the 20s and 30s and the small bodied guitars were popular then, cheaper than Gibsons and Martins. Stella was a popular brand.
@@BluesGuitarInstituteThanks for your prompt reply.
Yes I'm aware of the STELLA guitar brand. I must say for a small bodied guitar they project well, and possess great tone throughout the range.
Where is your Blues Guitar Institute based ?
Cheers
Kim.( yes ,I'm a guy !)

@@kimbarling4213 it's online at bluesguitarinstitute dot com but I'm in the US

I thought i’d found all the good yt guitar teachers! Great stuff!
You look like Bill Paxton "lol".. Had to edit the comment and "lol" before X or DH whatever, says something obnoxious to me! Cool riff btw..
Yeah sounds like Bill P,and RIFFS sound like THE RIFF MASTER WALTER B,MEMPHIS TN.
That's a beautiful guitar!
Thanks! I got a bunch of questions about it in the comments so I gave a bit more info on it in my latest video. Appreciate the comment! 👍
Beautiful guitar??? Walmart junk!!

Dude looks like Bill Hicks and Shawn Michael's had a baby
Right on! Right on! Right on! Love this! And a Happy New Year to you! Thanks!
Happy New Year, David! Thanks so much for the comments, always good to hear from you!
Thank you John! I'm an advanced beginner and this lesson was a real break through for me! I've had trouble playing transition notes between chords and this lesson really helped me. Thanks! I dig the guitar!
Glad to hear that, John! Fantastic!
I wanna learn guitar so bad but I don't understand all of this major and minor shit
THIS IS AWESOME, COOL LESSON.
Thanks, Earl! Happy New Year!
IKR!
Nice video John...love the blues.
Like the 4K...great clarity.
Best - Mike
Hey, you noticed the 4k! Thanks for the comment.
Should play the entire lesson , then break it down
Either he's 9ft tall or that's his kids guitar 🎸 😂
Just needs a turnaround.
Heck yeah! Add one and let me know what you come up with!
nice one bro, subbed.
Thank you! Appreciate it.
Man great thank you helped alot
your open A7 doesn't look like mine?
Which guitar is this?
Hi Juan, this is a 1930s era parlor from Harlin Brothers.
Looks like he could be related to Jeff Healy
What is this guitar?
It's a 1930s Harlin Bros
You don't only get stuck but tired of playing Blues without variation... which is exactly why I'm looking for videos like this right now.
Glad to hear that, Eric. Completely agree with you on the lack of variation...
Exactly
Oh ! Thank you for that
You're welcome, Normand! Thanks for the comment and Happy New Year!
Why do so many guitar instructors refuse to put tab on the screen as well, i just don't understand? I've spent about 30 minutes playing little parts of the video and rewinding a few seconds back over and over again, it drives me crazy! Guitar tab makes it SO much easier and quicker, plus people can then write it down in their tab books so they can then practice it again and again. PLEASE TAB!!!
tabs are available for my premium members as a perk to them for their support.
I don't think Jeff Healey played on a 10 dollar Wally World guitar.
I love ten dollar guitars, but not as much as I love one dollar guitars.
@@walterkersting1362 free is better. Not jacked guitars tho!!!
Juan A a free guitar may have one part you can use. Sometimes I gift guitars because of who and what they remind me of...
I don't think you know much about vintage guitars. If you find a guitar like that, I'll give you ten bucks, no worries! 😁
Great to see you back Scott Stapp! Back to your blues roots. New blues album in the future ???
New wave for 2020.
My sack of rice
Thank you, very nice information.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for the comment and hope you have a great new year!
Bill Paxton is teaching us the Blues
Love this. Thanks for such a great lesson!
Glad it was helpful!
Jimmy Hendrix always like to play around with the E as he does in the song; All along the watchtower, written by Bob Dylan.
lol, except Dylan's version isn't the popular one, Jimmy's is.😁
Hi there, would you mind to react to one fingerstylist from Indonesia ?
His channel name is Alip_ba_ta.. Please search the title "Gedabrul (blues)"
I can't wait to hear what your comment.
Thanks in advance from Indonesia.
Great John, happy new year! If your ever in Ireland the Guinness is on me.
Hey Michael, I'll take you up on that :) Cheers my friend!
What tuning
Standard EADGBE
I've been listening to a lot of blues lessons and this is the best one
ua-cam.com/video/3nyYhwAAfbo/v-deo.html
Don't know why this was all of a sudden recommend to me...but nice, I wish I had youtube and you in 1985
Is that a Martin or Washburn. Don’t recognize it. I like to keep up. Has a sweet warm tone. Thanks"
It's actually a vintage Harlin Brothers from the 30s. Birch body like a lot of parlors from that time.
Jeff Healy is still alive? Or that he's not playing the geetar on his lap...I don't know which I'm more astonished by
Feeling good to hear Goody sound from you.
I'm stuck on D& C chords. Thanks for changing that 💪😎👍💥🎶
Woo hooo! That's awesome, happy to help, Abram!
Great lesson just what i needed very cool rhythm idea
Nice! Cheers, Dimitar!

Thanks, nice riff. Yea I've written 2 blues tunes. ..a rut is my home in the blues lol
Sounds like Boogie Chillen by John Lee Hooker.
Nice!
john, i'm about an advanced beginner or maybe an early intermediate trying to learn guitar with mostly books and youtube videos. i try to learn as much theory as i can take in but is it correct or incorrect to learn by mimicking what i hear and see?
Jump to 3:00 for the good stuff
Simple ,to the point and useful.. Subbed 😁😁😁
lol..you look so different in long hair.. anyway thanks for lessons
Didn't know Bill Paxton had a son that plays guitar.
Anyway
It’s a choon.
What is the point when you can't see the fretboard because of the print
Not sure what part you're talking about but I do my best. Sorry if it wasn't helpful. Still, thanks for giving it a shot.
