- Today I am making a small batch of green chile chicken tamales for dinner. You can triple the recipe for a larger batch and use your favorite store-bought green salsa, to make it an easier recipe. This is gonna be good!
Welcome to Simply Mamá Cooks UA-cam Channel! I am a Mom to a blended Korean / Mexican American family that loves to share what I cook in my home. I am still learning and enjoying the process of making home-cooked food.

How To Make Tamales
Green Chile Tamales My Way - Навчання та стиль
This lady can cook everyone, I followed and made many of her recipes. Her pork tamales turned out fantastic! Will try this chicken one this weekend!
The first time I made tamales I had a huge pork butt a big beef roast and ten pounds of chicken. I bought the already made huge bag of massa at the Mexican store. Eventually I ran out of the ingredients but still seemed to have a ton of husks left. Lesson learned only prepare as many husks as you plan to use lol. I must have made at least 100 (there’s only two of us) I had them coming out of my ears. Lol
🤣😂
I like to put my extra husks in a freezer bag and freeze them til next time!
I just love how you break it down. Your recipes are nice and easy to follow, and it comes out right. So thank you for sharing your tips and recipes. 👍🏼👍🏼🙏🏼🤤🤤
My arms are sore from chopping the pig head meat, and spreading yesterday. You make it look easy. We had 3spreaders and 1.5 filling. Big work for the holidays. All made with love and laughter 🥰
Happy holidays y’all. It’s been tough two years, enjoy your family while they are here 💕
Amen 🙏 Happy Holidays🎄🎉💝🥂🙏✌️
Use the tortillara to fill husk put plastic corn husk Masa plastic press it all same thickness feel with meat or cheese roll
Labor of love for sure 😊
YES!!!! Just in time for Christmas. I can't just buy them at HEB this year but making my own will be fun. Thanks!
Just to say your so pretty and such a great cook , thank you for sharing your skills 👍😊
I'm tempted to try making it for the first time. Thank you for making the demo looks so simple.

You make it look so easy! These look delicious!!! Great recipe
Ooh I want to try making these. But I like mine a little bit more saucier it’s looks so good!!
Merry Vlogmas!! Those tamales look amazing!!!! If there was ever a Tamale Hero Badge of Courage, you’d have it! Your video is getting me back on that tamale horse, after failing a few times. Thanks!!
Yours look so delicious and you made it simple. I make a more spreadable masa by fluffing the lard with the hand mixer first and I add more liquid and mix with the hand mixer until fluffy and easy to spread with a spoon. It took me a very long time to learn my mother's way of making them and they come out just as delicious. Thanks ,you are a great cook!!
I love your books . Very easy to follow
This looks so delicious. I'm definitely giving this a try ❤
I made your tamales de pollo recipe for the 1st time and they are amazing! My family loved them, and said that they are better than the ones at a restaurant! Thank you for the recipe ❤

I also cheat and use pre-made Verde salsa!

I love this 😀 ❤
green chile chicken tamales for dinner was so delicious,
You make it look so easy :)
FOOD PORN here my dear Simply Mamá, ah the finest tamal at the end....had me drooling, you're also of the same mind as us, store bought tamales are good but they're more masa and less meat, cheese, although they do use copious amount of red or green chili sauce. Thank you for sharing, liked and Buen Provecho for your hubby, chilpayates and you! :D Also, will be checking your bean and cheese tamales out! :)
First one ☝️ yay 😁. I love your cooking recipes
You gonna make me do it! I want to! Especially for my Honduran husband. I just need to buy a steam pot.
1. What does the baking powder do?
2. Could you use butter?
Thanks!
Excuse my French but Dam.
Ma'am, you are an excellent cook.
I'm glad I've came across your channel. Tnx.
Excellent job showing a undone versus done tamale, they really do just slip off when done. I use the foil squares when I do tamales and the same thing will happen, a done tamale will just slip off. If sticking, cooking a bit longer. Love that pot, same one that I have.
Anyone who doesn't like your green salsa can go invent their own. I've made your salsa several times and it is perfect. I hate comments like "can I substitute rice flour for this cornbread recipe".
My neighbor makes a green chili chicken tamale! I believe she adds cheese inside the tamales! These remind me of hers! Going to make them asap! ❤️
You are the best ❤️👍🏻
Yum
Sweet tamales!!!!
Love this recipe. Is there a reason why you boil the corn husks?
YUMMMMMMMM!!! 😋❤️
Mmmmmmm
We can’t really grow tomatillo here out growing season is too short, but because it’s a short growing season I often end up with lots of green tomatoes… so I make my salsa verde with them. It’s close in flavour to tomatillo salsa but not the same. Works well.
Good afternoon. Thank you
If you guys notice the salsa she made?
That's the same green salsa she featured in her crock pot barbacoa video, from a few years ago. Just a fun fact.
Awesome recipe
Delicious!! 😋 I really want to make these for Christmas! I’m honestly kind of tired of the red guajillo pork tamales, I feel like the pork dries out too much and doesn’t reheat well!
I made your bean and cheese tamales and it was delicious
Fantastic Dish😋👍❤️
Thank you👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Your post was MUCH simpler than others
Other channels said I had to whip my shortening with a mixer for 45 minutes
Others say add I’ve cubes
Others say to melt the shortening
I was totally confused. But I’m going to go with yours. Thanks again

Nice cooking 🧑🍳
Thanks for your videos, they are great. I hope that you can find some New Mexico Hatch green chilis and make Hatch green chili, chicken, & cheese tamales. They are the best! ( I might be saying that because I have lived in New Mexico since 1999 and gotten spoiled on WONDERFUL Hatch chilis! 😁😂😁😂😍🥰)
Using green cubanelles will work for good consistency and flavor if you don't like tomatillos.
I've also seen green tomatoes as a sub for tomatios. Problano peppers.
I love cilantro in salsa verde, would it make it bitter or change consistency?
I just bought some masa harina and plan to make tamales this week 🥰
😋😋😋
What brand husks did you get this time? Those look really nice compared to what I have found lately at the F store AND the H store 🤣🤣🤣
I don't know if I missed it but do u keep adding water as it's in the steaming process
Yummy 😋
** nice **
Which made a are you using?? Maseca in the white and green bag or Maseca Tamal(brown bag)
I looooove tomatios 🤗🤤
Do I freeze them before cooking if I want to make extra but don’t want to eat them right away?
Thank u so very much.I think it's a woman thing...we keep our tips n tricks to ourselves. No one in my immediate family makes tamales.Last week I stated oh I Will learn.Bam I learned today.God is so beyond words and puts wisdom n knowledge in our paths..what we do with it is up to us.Thank you so much for all your gems of food knowledge.
Interesting. I hadn't enjoyed tamales, because I've only seen a very little filling ratio, avoided since. If I don't try my own, I'll definitely pose question, and be at least willing to try .
You make your tamales like I do. Except how you spread the masa on the husk.
