- These are the best chicken tamales you will ever eat. In this recipe Im teaching you how to make them. The masa is so soft and flavorful and put together with the green sauce adds even more flavor and a slight kick of heat to make the perfect combination. Even though the recipe is a bit long, it is not complicated to make and the outcome is sure worth the wait. This is just another example of how rich our Mexican food culture is and I am so proud to share it with you. Get ready to fall in love at first taste!

Im glad it was helpful and clear.
It's definitely the best I've ever seen.
Can we make chicken and sauce day ahead
And beautifully photographed as well!
I’ve asked countless people how to make them and if I could have a recipe… no one ever answered me except for. It’s a lot of ingredients and a lot of work…
I made tamales by myself for the first time today and they came out perfect, my boyfriend and his family loved them. Followed this recipe to a T. Thank u so much for this recipe and the clear instructions, you made a gringas life so much easier
Thanks I'm going to try it, my 1st time I love them and my family also
I made tamales for the first time today and this recipe was perfect!
Perfect!
I love how you explain things so clearly and easy to understand. Most recipes don’t explain things to look for or what works best. Thank you I needed this
Not only Mexicans enjoy good tamales, we non-Mexicans do too. Excellent video Villa Cocina. Gracias! HAY CHIHUAHUA!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Rosanna - I have viewed many chicken tamales making but I like your method a lot better. Thank you 🙏
Wow! Your tamale making tutorial is brilliant! One of the best I've seen.
Thank you for showing how you fold them, that helped a lot!
Glad it was helpful! 😊
The exact thing I’ve been wanting to learn how to make! 🙌🏼 Not the first time this has happened with your channel 😄
Yey! glad I could help.
I love how passionate you are about your culture and sharing it with the world, what a beautiful thing 🥰 I will attempt to make these some day!
This gringa will be surprising her Husband with food from his homeland! Thank you for the breakdown and instruction, very easy to understand and clear. Down to the salsa de verde. My husband LOVES spicy 🥵. I can’t wait to show him what I’ve learned from you! Thanks girlfriend!!
Hello there!!! love it, please please share your results.
@@VillaCocina you’ve got it!
@@caitlinperez9962 how were they?!
did they come out well?
You have an amazing way of clearly describing each step. I love that you don't rush through everything. Thank you for sharing your recipe and step by step video. Gracias!
I’m glad you found it helpful. ☺️
This has been my favorite food since childhood. I only like to eat them maybe once every few years so I never get used to the flavor. 👍🏿
You have a great attitude towards enjoyment. I do the same with sushi. Even if i become a millionaire someday, I will refuse to eat it everyday because it wouldn't be special anymore.
Can you use a substitute for the lard? I don't eat anything pork? What would you advise?
AWSOME TEACHING, YOU WENT STEP BY STEP. CLEAR TO UNDERSTAND, MADE SIMPLE, NOW I CAN MAKE SOME.😘😎
Wow, here it is, the one I've been waiting for since I found your channel! Thank you for putting this out! I cannot wait to try these. I've done your refried beans, lots of your salsa, but I've been wanting to try authentic tamales. These look really good.
Have fun and enjoy!!!
This is my 1st time making tamales and I must say they came out incredible. I made my sister jealous she wants to come over and make tamales now. 🤣 Thank you so much
Great! that's the spirit
Omg thanks for this 🙏🙏 I’m on a mission to reconnect more to my own Mexican culture and making my own Christmas tamales was on my list. Currently waiting for my chicken to cool! Can’t wait to eat them 💕
How were they?!?
Not to be disrespectful but, 1:34 I always laugh at recipes that say "cover them with enough water ..." when they ACTUALLY float..you can't COVER something that floats...so do you need to just add enough water to keep them off the bottom of the pot?
One of the best instructional videos I've seen, cooking or otherwise! You do a fantastic job explaining the process with helpful tips. It's clear and very well thought out.
Hi, I'm from Japan live in US and love Tamale.
I never thought I could make tamale on my own but I did!
Your recipe was wonderful and explained everything in such an easy way !!
Thank you so much for sharing your recipe.
Me too so I'm going to try it this week ❤😂😅
First off, your videos are the best on you tube for authentic Mexican food. They are clear concise and unlike most other videos on you tube, they are specific to what you are cooking. You don't try to chat or make the video about you.
We finally took the plunge and made both of your tamale recipes and they were the best tamales we have EVER had. Thank you for sharing and some day I hope you make a masa video. All things masa. Thanks again!
It never looks authentic .. at all.
I literally can eat 3-4 tamales a day! Thanks for your recipe! ❤
I’m making ur recipes for red pork tamales and this one for Christmas this year!!! Wish us luck u make it look so easy 🖤☺️ thank you for making these videos
I made these right after Thanksgiving and I'm making them today for the New Years!! 😋😋😋 It was a complete success! My family loved them so much!! Thank you! Here's to good food, good times & good family. Happy New years everyone! Wishing everyone the best for 2022! 🥳🎊🎉🥂
Btw, I am making these today! Viva Zapata! 🇲🇽
I've been making tamales for almost 50 years. I loved your masa. I would of added a little more ingredientes to make it more flavorful but I could tell the texture was on point. It didn't stick to your hands and it didn't stick to the bowel. Indicación that it wasn't going to stick to the husk. Good job.
Hi there, what other ingredients could be added to add more flavor? Thanks.
Question do I have to use Lard !? Or can I use shortening ??
Nice job 💯 my wife and I will be trying to make the tomatillo sauce. And we will let you know how it turns out thank you❤
Great! please do ☺️
I love to cook! your recipes and methods raise my confidence . Thank you for sharing
Wonderful!
Lodge Dutch Oven FTW! They should sponsor you! Also, the color of that sauce is BEAUTIFUL!
Where’s the description area for the recipe?
I love your presentation. You wasted no time and jump right into your lesson.
Hi ! This was my first time ever making tamales ! After following this recipe, I am really upset that my whole life that tamales were supposed to taste like this ! …..if I was in Mexico this is what it would taste, thank you so much!!!
Yay!!!! thanks for sharing. You can now check out my recipe on how to make red pork tamales, DELICIOUS! Here is the link : ua-cam.com/video/HC9N7DSEdzQ/v-deo.html
Hi I was just wondering what is the difference between baking soda and baking powder? This is coming from someone who doesn't bake lol
Exceptionally well edited and produced. It's an art in itself. Also my favorite Mexican dish.
Can u please tell me how much oil if not using lard?
Im making some for the first time for Christmas today and I can't wait!!!! Thanks for this thorough tutorial!!!!❤❤❤
I loved your green sauce tamales, thank you so much for the recipe, my first tamales ever for Christmas tomorrow. Thanks sis
I just finished steaming them today for dinner! The recipe was pretty easy to understand and everything was simple to make (except for the wrapping, but it was my first type wrapping them so that’s understandable). I don’t really care for tamales personally but I made them for my mom and brother who really like tamales and they love them. My brother is pretty picky about food but he loved these so i say it works! Although I wrap the tamales and steam them right before eating instead of steaming them all at once because we have a small steamer that only fits about 4, and I think it works better than reheating the tamales in a microwave later on.
Thanks so much I made them for the first time tonight they turned out perfect your steps and receipt was so easy to follow ❤️❤️❤️
So glad! thank you for sharing.
You're recipes and instructions are excellent. Top of the line!! Thank you
Hello 👋 Rosana! I hope you are doing well. I want to make your recipe for red pork tamales, but can I use your recipe for the masa for the tamales like the one that you use here? I only ask, because I think that your old recipe for red pork tamales uses a (lard/crisco) based recipe for the masa. If I can use this masa recipe, can I use regular vegetable oil instead of avacado oil? Thank 😊 you so much for your help! 🥰☺️😋❤🎉❤I only trust learning from you, because your heart is truly in it!! Como agua para chocolate! I have asked another person that is quite active on their mexican recipe channel some questions and they never got back to me, and believe me, I tried more than once. Besides as I said I love Michoacan, it is so beautiful there! Thank you kindly! Bravo and Cheers!
Having just watched this video and, immediately prior, your video for pork tamales, my wife and I both noted a couple of slight differences. Method of making the masa as far as manteca and oil preparation and addition is concerned. Amount of masa used in the mix. Any particular reason for the differences? Either one work better than the other? Also noted the lack of covering the chicken tamales with corn husks and plastic bag.
YOURE KITCHEN SO CLEAN. MY KITCHEN ENDS UP LIKE A WAR ZONE.
😂
Me too!
You can tell you put love in your recipes!!! The only way to do it!! It taste Way better! I have to make this!!!
I’m not Mexican but I LOVE these. My neighbor makes them for Christmas and they are delicious!!
12:10 yummy topped with sour cream 😊and cheese wow I’m here all baboso 😂drooling 😅I was wondering where is señor Nelson for the taste test of this recipe 😝 lol Y’all have a great Sunday evening 👋😃👋
I love how you explained step by step on how to make tamales with the green sauce. They look so delicious. 😋 Thank you so much for sharing. I have definitely got to at least try making these 🫔 🫔 . 👍😊💕
I’ve seen some recipes where they say you have to soak the husks for an hour or more. Do you need to do that so they’re pliable or can you just rinse them like you’ve shown here? It looks amazing and I’m going to try this out today!
This lady is not just a good cook, but very professional and easy to follow..... and of course very Pretty! She's proud of her heritage and proud to share what she knows.
Thank you for your kind words! 😊
I want to make some for the very first time. I'm actually shopping for a tamalera, but don't know what's the best size pot for a beginner. What do you suggest?
The tamales look delicious. It doesn't seem too difficult. Can you tell me how the masa made with Maseca differs from the prepared masa that is sold in the some markets? Thank you.
I would like to say thank you for making this video! These where the BEST tamales 🫔 I have ever made! Straight forward and easy to follow. I’ve looked at other recipes and I would say this was so far the best, no machines required.. I can’t wait to make my next batch.
enjoy! ☺️
I like making a tomatillo sauces. I love it on enchiladas (cheese, chicken/cheese or chicken). I prefer to roast them though with a little garlic, and a jalapeno (can't do a lot of spice anymore cause of an ulcer).
Take magnesium capsules to three and a glass of water takes about 10 or 15 minutes you got the bathroom and be easy. Or make Green juice 🧃 it works as well
Hi, I love to press my masa thansmear mushy masa. Love your video from SWFL, USA.
I made another recipe last weekend and had the wrong flour, mine was corn masa flour. It never got quite right, but the taste was there. I love tamales.
I do not own a vita mix, but use a cuisinart food processor, so the whole peppercorns and cloves will not grind into the sauce. How about I use a pinch or two of ground cloves and some peppercorns ground in my pepper mill ?
HUGS AND KISSES TO YOU YOUNG LADY,...YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE ME A BIG HIT WITH MY WIFEY,...WHEN I MAKE THIS FOR HER,...THANK YOU😁
If you want to make more chicken, how much more green sauce would I need? Do I need to get more tomatillos and jalapeños?
yuppp my mom makes these types of tamales almost every month. My grandma passed this recipe only to my mom. It's my favorite and never tried any tamales after that. Of course, my grandma had a special ingredient to make it a family secret. My grandma made the chili a little bit different and the masa different but that made it special!
Question: why do we need to cook the jalapeno. Can we just blend the fresh jalapeno? they will be cooked when we steam the tamales.....
so chucharones traducion skin frie pork dish with meat ,so hope I M corect my write ,so forgive me if I do write wrong
WHY NOT PUT HUSKS LEAVES ON THE BOTTOM OF THE POT? AND COVER ALL OF THE TAMALES CONCEALING THE STEAM? WHERE IS THE TOWEL TO KEEP MOIST WITHING ? ARE THESE STEPS NOT REALLY NECESSARY AS YOU SHOW? THANK YOU.
2-2-22 ijust make u tamales for first time great recipe thx u ca luv have u done a chili colorado yet that my favorite
im wondering if i double the ingredients will it make double the amount of tamales?? please respond
Hi there! Can I substitute lard with ghee? Any suggestions would be great 👍🏻
Thank you ! I am going to use this recipe! I want to try and can't wait to try tamales !
I grew up seeing my friend's families make them. Omg can't wait to make my own one day. Love love tamales
Im making this homemade along with red pork 50 each to sell
I have been looking for a clear simple recipe for tamales because this will be my first time making them so THANK YOU SO MUCH!! your a lifesaver 😪
Thank you. I've been looking for a good tamale recipe. I will definitely make these.
Is it sacrilege to add cheese to these ? That green chicken looks so good and I bet cheddar would be amazing in them.
Use Maseca for tamales it’s diferente versión from Maseca same brand but special for tamales
Thank You so much.
I needed a small amount recipe..
I am so thankful. I made 3 kind.
Green Salsa Verde. Beans, and De Nalgada.. - Just the left over masa.
Thank You so much..

My pleasure! 😊 you can find more tamales recipes on my main page as well.
Made these last night and refrigerated over night. They turned out perfect! Thank you for sharing this amazing recipe
I see some people wrap them in foil as well, is that a different technique or can it be combined with this?
Ohhh my. If I could find a Latina to make me these, I would marry her !!
I like cheese and green chile tamales. What kind of cheese should I use? Thanks! 😋
They’re so good! Thank you!! You’re so beautiful! How do you stay fit when you always cooking up bomb food?! I need to knowwww 😩😂😂❤️
Thank you so much! It's all in the balance I think. we don't eat tamales everyday (though I wish we could 😅). and exercise ☺️
My dad decided today that he wants tamales. Normally we would get them from my friend's mom (she's originally from Mexico and has several 'old family recipes) but due to a recent accident she can't cook right now (she's okay though, just in leg cast) so gonna be given these a try for both our families.
Oh no, hope she feels better! Go for it, you will love the recipe.
Merry Christmas I followed made your recipe chicken and sauce last night Easy thank you Traditionally making for decades. Really love your videos recipe
Happy holidays! So glad you loved them ❤️
You are hired, and are you married... :) Love your channel
If you watch her videos your question will be revealed.
Of course she's married, what would make you think that a lady that cooks like this wouldn't be tied down? I bet her husband put a ring on her the first time she cooked for him
Use olive oil over toxic canola oil. Research how unhealthy canola oil is! 😊
You do such a great job explaining! Sometimes I have a really hard time understanding directions and recipes but you really made it so simple. I will be attempting these tonight!
Go for it and Im glad you enjoy our content.
Are lard and shortening the only options? Are vegetable/corn oils a "no no"?
You can also use vegetable or canola oil.
@@VillaCocina Thank you!!
Hello. It's nice that the color of the food is clear. Wrap it in cornshell.😋👍🤝
Iam Canadian and can't wait to do my first batch lolo thanks to teaching me ❤
Don’t you have to soak the corn husks in water for at least 30 minutes??
I love how you explain things ! It makes it so easy! Thank you
May I ask, do you find any merit in the testing the masa in a glass of water to see if it is done (aka floats)?
I am Indian and I cook lot of different type of recipes want to know if it is hard to make tamales at home
what do you think about using avocado oil, butter, and /or coconut oil ?
Ik it was possible. That's the perfect amount of chile and salsa and massa. I swear every mexican around here sucks at making tamales. They put to much massa and not enough chile or chicken. I'm tired of it and making them my self. Thank you
Hope this recipes is helpful to you 😊
They look delicious can you substitute pork for tamales. Kathy Hernandez thank you I'm going to tried them
We have a pork tamales recipe if you’re interested 😊
What can be used instead of lard for a vegetarian option for the maza?
Gracias para este receta! Mi encantan los tamales!
thank you for the re ipe .you explained so well. more power!
