That moment when doc said he felt like a failure and the guys came to his aid to let him know that he sure as Hell wasn't that... Man that tore me up big time. No doc on the battlefield will ever be a failure. Doc will try to save everyone, even though he knows deep down that it's unfortunately impossible to achieve. All of us grunts love you, doc... All of my fellow door kickers of the past and present appreciate you so much. You are our angel on the battlefield. I was able to continue moving forward without the thought of being hit. This Doc, gave me a heart ache. I lost a good friend as well in Afghanistan as he laid next to me. I held the man until his last breath, what a way to man up at 19.. I had no choice..
That sounds horrifying, when life puts you in those places and leaves you no choice it shows you who you truly are. No one should have to do that and hold a friend in their last moments. Your character is astounding.
God bless you brother and may you find peace Thank you for what you did for me, my family, our country and the world I don't know you but I truly love and appreciate you

I was with 1st LAR and I remember losing a young Marine a 19 year old. And I'll never forget the look on our Corpsmans face when he did everything he could to save him. There is a place in my heart and soul that will never forget the Marines I've had to bury in my 13 years in the Corps, but the things that I remember the most is the smells, sounds, and the screams of terror when a firefight would break out. Watching this from Erbil, Iraq right now, thanks to his interview on Jon Stewart. Have been to Fallujah recently, and white western I can walk from one end of the city to the other, same in Mosul, 100% safe. Right now Iraq is relatively doing better than under Al Qaeda or ISIS... hopefully it gets better and stays peaceful and extremism stays out or is further eliminated in the areas it remains. Thanks for your sacrifices - hopefully in the end, the outcome is a peaceful and democratic Iraq that follows rule of law and human rights.
I hope all these guys see your comment. Knowing you can walk through that city without fear might give them some sense that they weren't there for nothing. Even if it eventually returns to a chaotic state, temporary peace is better than no peace at all.
Wow this is really touching my heart! The amount of strength Brad's Mom has... The amount of brotherhood, feeling of responsibility and also guilt the other Marines still have. I wish You all the best and keep fighting! Greetings from a german air force soldier. Never been in combat, but if I ever were - I wish I could fight for my fellow soldiers even half as heroically as those Marines. Respect!
I saw you on The Jon Stewart “ The Daily Show” thank you for sharing this Documentary with the world. Ms. Kathleen said it the best. The dead are gone, but you are honored and loved by people like me that you will probably never meet. Thank you so much for sharing ❤
Ms. Kathleen you are a remarkable woman. You loving and forgiving those marines means the world to them. As a soldier myself, we carry those traumatic episodes with us forever. You gave those boys permission to heal, God bless you...
Those that survived... Did you know some survive because they are stupid, and out of pity are left alive? Rapists, sexual molesters ...they still get away somehow.
The first friend I lost in the wars was during this battle. His name is Chuck Hanson and was with Bravo 1/2. It’s crazy to see documentaries like this twenty years later and be able to point out people you knew or served with, memories preserved in video. Thank you for putting this together.
This was an incredibly powerful piece for the 20th anniversary of the battle. Very well put together. This was respectfully visceral history and those Marines to include their now surrogate mother made you feel some pain but also an immense measure of gratitude that such a fierce but humbly courageous group of young men and women can face horrific combat so that most of us can rest easy as a result.
the way those two soldiers showed the medic/corpsman the love, comfort and reassurance that very moment was not only heartbreaking but also one of the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. they instantly saw the burden of grief no man should carry so long and they acted immediately! beautiful absolutely beautiful!

I fought alongside the grunts of the Bravo Company 1st Battalion 8th Marines as a Combat Engineer in this same battle. This is the most well made video I’ve seen on Operation Phantom Fury and very emotional. I choked up pretty good at the end.
23:54 that’s a good momma. “You cannot do nothin for the dead but you can definitely do something for the living.” Her grief’s turned into love for the men who fought alongside her son.
I have seen the footage of 3rd platoon in Fallujah so many times and didn't know that the most prominent guy in that footage (Faircloth) didn't make it. It makes me so sad, God Bless you Faircloth and rest easy, you did a great job.

Today is Veteran's Day, 2024 and just happened across this video. Or maybe I didnt. Because there's absolutely nothing I can imagine epitomizing the Meaning of this day than what i just watched. The brotherhood, the sacrifice. And then, the aftermath....on his fellow soldiers and his family and then, the incredible way that his mother stands SO strong that SHE literally becomes the catharsis for his brothers still struggling w his death. Most Americans just dont know what we're doing when we send our sons n daughters to fight for us. I'm sure i dont. But, in many, if not most, cases what we get back is a broken shell of the person we sent. As an American, and to Any serviceman or woman who has served..... THANK YOU. I appreciate it very much.
Honestly, from the heart, god bless the warfighters. You guys are the true heroes in this world. Prayers go out to each and every man lost on the battle field and those that come home to carry the scars of freedom. I cannot fathom the loss felt by the families of these heroes that paid the ultimate price.
You know, I've watched any and every documentary on the Iraq war I can find. I have had so many friends and their families that were directly affected by this war. In one of these documentaries, A speech was made and one particular line stuck with me for the last 10+ years. "The choices we make today will echo in eternity". The story, better the legacy of every single one of these men whos names you may have never heard of is a testament to the strength and will of the American people. To witness the horrors these men have been subjected to, seeing their brothers strewn across the floor yet they grit their teeth put their heads down and press on. If any one of you ever question the determination of America and wish ill will against one of our own. You may get one but behind every one there is the complete unwavering resolve of the United States Military. Thank you all and your families for your sacrifice.

Solid documentary. I was with 1/9. As Marines it is our duty to take care of the families of the fallen. Never fought in Iraq but I pray if I did, that I could be even half as courageous as these gentleman.
Was in panjaii district kandahar in 2008 was crazy. Canadians were in charge of kandahar the birth place of the taliban. Canadian infantry princess patricias canadian light infantry
Outstanding, moving, and painful. Thank you for standing in the cause of freedom. War sucks, but it has a way of bringing people together in the most painful way!
Holy shit. This brought tears to my eyes, fellas. Was in Balad at same time. Thank you for coming together and telling your story. Thank you for being real. Thank you War Horse for putting this together. May you all find the peace that you deserve. Finally, from someone that wasn’t even there, but knows first hand the cruelty of fate in war - it wasn’t your fault. It wasn’t your fault.
Great documentary. As a MARINE VETERAN, I thank you all for serving. You are all my brothers and sisters. I love each and every one of you. The memories of combat will be there until the day you die. But rest assured that you made a difference and the world is a safer place because of your valiant actions. May the Lord almighty God bless you and yours. SEMPER FI
Absolutely love this. I’m really at a loss for words. But I will say that I cried a few times and you guys truly give your lives, and a piece of you when you were over there. You come back a changed person. I hope more people see this. It’s very eye opening to us civilians. I appreciate you for making this & for all of your sacrifices. ❤
took me a while to write this comment damn this vid had me messed up for a min...before I enlisted 2008 I used to watch this footage of 1/8 and the guys in this video religiously on UA-cam...it may have been a news report or a compilation of fallujah footage...there's even a clip missing that I remember watching where LCPL Faircloth and the team first attempt to enter the house from the stairs on the roof and are met with small arms fire and have to retreat back.....Bradley then drops a frag in the house from the rooftop and then the team make there second attempt down the stairs into the house. I would watch that footage day in and day out till I left for parris island in 08. I had no idea of the teams status or even their unit until now. RIP LCPL Bradley Faircloth from 1/9 walking dead. Till Valahlla
My work buddy was born in the US his family moved to mexico when he was 1 year old . When he was 17 he came back joined the marines, 9/11 happened and switched his MOS to a 0331 he was there in Fallujah with 2/1 . He had spent most of his life in Mexico moved back to the US and decided to serve what a man

I'm sure i dont. But, in many, if not most, cases what we get back is a broken shell of the person we sent.
As an American, and to Any serviceman or woman who has served.....
THANK YOU.
I appreciate it very much.
LOVE To all of you Marines out there.
My tank company supported 1/8. During the final briefing, I was asked about logistics for our tanks. "Tank Ammo is cheap. Marines are expensive."
Honestly, from the heart, god bless the warfighters. You guys are the true heroes in this world. Prayers go out to each and every man lost on the battle field and those that come home to carry the scars of freedom. I cannot fathom the loss felt by the families of these heroes that paid the ultimate price.
Im an FMF doc and it hurts knowing I’m not alone feeling like that. I brought all my boys home just to lose them all here…..I feel that pain
Thank you for your service 🫡
I didn't know Brad, but as a fourth generation United States Marine, Semper Fi brother. May you have fair winds and God's warmth surround you.

Please send a prayer to every one of these men. Lord knows they’re still battling the hell that was Fallujah to this day.
This is a nice piece put together up close and personal 👌🏿
Thank you for sharing your pain, your strength and the reality of war with those of us at home. You are each a treasure.
Very well done! Best doc I’ve seen in a min. That old school style of interview story tell. First person, very good show, was in it from bell to bell.

He died in combat like every Marine would want to die.brave badass Marine

He had spent most of his life in Mexico moved back to the US and decided to serve what a man
This documentary really hit me hard… not all of us are as lucky to have a Cathleen in our lives so I hope you guys grab and hold on tight to her and take care of her as much as she takes care of you. Rah devil dogs.
Thank you for this. And thank you for everything.
The last few mins of this was very emotional…Semper Fidelis Marines.
