These ordinary men with a few American soldiers having the right knowledge and understand the limits of their equipment was a remarkable feat. Beating. Dug in well defended enemy wouldn’t have been possible without muzzle and aircraft help. That’s your combined arms operation in perfect step with one another. Each Green Beret should have been given a bronze star at least for heroism. Fight in an enemy country so deep inside, no help could come for any of them had they been wounded or incapacitated or death. This alone would be nerve wrecking knowing death could happen here with only local fighters with courage in abundance. This shows the training helps calm the nerves that kicks in when the heat was in without any wounded American is remarkable in a tough spot.
There is no ordinary men or women in Iraq-Syrian Kurdistan .......Just Google Kurdish Peshmerga or YPG you'll get your answer ...... We knw only a basic law "Survival of the fittest"... We've faced Saddam's Republican Guards, Turkish Airstrikes , Syrian Army and later daesh (ISIS) with the help of US air-cover .......
No overwhelming background audio, the meaningful pauses (thanks, edit) striking visuals. Makes for an educational and entertaining video. Oh and awesome VO too
Viking Hammer & this spec ops coverage was exclusive & excellent for its time. I believe this was covered in Maxim magazine as well. Maxim & Playboy were the OG social media platforms, with large sections interacting with their subs. (Even know all answers, info & updates would be at least 1 month old by the time we received the next magazine in the mail. Can u imagine? 😂 ) But military coverage was common at that time. So that hyped this mission up even more. If u have not seen this episode, then Enjoy bro, i won't spoil it. *Go Army 🇺🇸 & allied forces 🌎*
The day before the 101st Airbourne were supposed to take off from Turkey Airbases, i was shown on a early map, the Turks changed their mind, thats why if you look at the war map we only came from the south, we didn't have assets in the North but ones that were there before the war, I was told they spent 24 hours painting Humvees into Red Cross vehicles to get over the border...the enemy saw that , insurgents started pour over the Syrian border...we had no operation control in the North, we just had the Kurds, that why it was called Operation Northern "Delay "which occurred on 26 March 2003 ,It involved dropping 1,000 paratroopers from the 173rd Airborne Brigade into Northern Iraq.
GN trains so well, they train all over the world, training someof the most productive indigenous units to over come great odds, but they rarely engage enemies with said indigenous trained units.
All that fire power the U.S. has and lost in Vietnam lost in Afghanistan and these people didn’t have planes dropping bombs or helicopters shooting rockets and 50 cal. bullets but they did have many many fighters who wouldn’t quit.
You mean the fighters that sent kids, women, and pregnant women as suicide bombers, hid and fought inside the mosque. Which the U.S. soldiers knew they couldn't. I assuming until they know for sure the were shooting from them.
The acting and the fake gun sound overlays sure are something else in this documentary. They make every gun , that isn't actual footage, sound like a peashooter. The Barrett scene is particularly funny.
What is a Viking hammer? (Thor's Hammer) In Norse mythology, Thor is the god of thunder and his hammer (called Mjölnir) has the power of lightning. During the era of Viking ascendancy, miniature Thor's Hammers were often used as religious amulets. Today, the Hammer is a major symbol for those who follow neo-Norse religions such as Asatru.
I was in Class 3-85, we started with just shy of 250 studs, 13 of us graduated 7 months later. Interesting aside, I served with (now LtGen Tovo) then CPT Tovo in 1991…good times. The best part of this video? The little things like the black fleece tops shown were accurate, we called them Enduring Freedom Varsity Jackets. I disagree with the statement that we didn’t view the Peshmerga as professional soldiers, everyone I knew felt that we were grateful for them being on our side.
That's why SF calls themselves "the quiet professionals." A moniker that has been copied by other special operations units. Another spec op organization, which will not be named, would have acted in cheesy movies, made beefcake calendars, and argued among themselves about who shot who and who killed who. Anybody got a Budweiser?
Considering SF's units, both British and American, are tiny compared to regular forces, they are huge force multipliers......... when these lads are on your case, you might as well give up!! 🇬🇧🇺🇸✌️
I can understand the Kurdish soldiers hesitation in trusting the USA forces, like all(?) large nations, help comes when it helps the large nation's agenda
Saddam did use chemical weapons on villages. But because of American media. They knew we were going to invade Iraq. And then t gave Saddam plenty of time to move those chemical weapons, or sell them without us knowing. It would be easy to hide chemical weapons. There’s plenty of dessert in Iraq. All they had to do was take small truck loads in hundreds of different directions and bury them. We were monitoring large movements of trucks, and military forces. Not smaller groups. Over the years we have found weapons all over Iraq. Small caches of chemical weapons. All over Iraq in underground areas the U.S. never knew existed until they were found.
lol just little school kid level ricin lab, btw ricin needs to get into blood trough piercing or food to be deadly, so its definetly not some sort of mass weapon at all, it is useful only in assesinations james bond style...
greg are you a real OG ? and futher i was just wondering if that manly jet black hear is all your own or if you decided you look better..more youthful even using a proprietry hair die such as just for men either way you look super for a man of that age ....well done greg
The islamist were kurds too that's why they were pussing out ansar al islam is a kurdish jihadist group with a fierce reputation everyone here knows about them they still operate in syria rn only locals knows how they are
Green beret or Rangers who's the elite are they around tier 2. Not from the USA from Scotland ,i love the ballad ,the Royal Marines and the Parachute Regiment are they around the same tier .
The tier system isint really an official thing. But green berets and rangers would be considered "tier 2". The mission sets are different. Green berets a highly skilled in Forgien internal Defense or teaching gureillas or fighters In different countries how to wage unconventional warfare. They are also highly skilled in direct action raids. There bread and butter is small 12 man teams called ODAs and they insert themselves with the local indigenous. They all can speak a second language and sometimes multiple languages. The Rangers on the other hand are still part of the U.S Army. They are the U.S Army's premier raid unit. If you need a town/village, airfield, etc taken with absolute speed and violence of action you call the Rangers. They roll in with a large group of Soilders and meet the enemy with complete force. They are kinda like the sledge hammer of the U.S Military.
1.Whats sad is that the organization that are supposedly religious but in reality theyre doing things that are a sin in every book no matter the religion!! 2.These young men and women that are in these organizations, many of them are very talented and if they would have done the right things they could have been some of the best fighters and medics rather then doing illegal and morally wrong things
Meanwhile who is invading their country forcing them to? This is like someone who ab__es their wife saying it's their fault for fighting back. Let's be honest the only reason anyone was there was to line Northrop', Halliburton etc's pockets and the pockets of big oil. We failed to find WMDs (which btw all the news channels went along with) and i extremely doubt these people had what they're accused of having because of the desperate need to justify the invasion. I remain extremely cynical.
spec ops = no helmets if you think about it to conceal self those black touques (knitted caps) though. They don't engage in fights that would draw artillery fire.

When you compare these guys to the current war In Russia and ukraine. The level of threat and combat from BOTH sides puts the US to shame. The US looks like a bunch of 1st graders beating up on preschoolers

My dad was a Green Beret in Vietnam. Funny how similar the roles are, even though one was a desert and one was a jungle.
Still a Green Beret no matter the place.......
Some things don’t change. The USA will always need the brave green berets.
Same mantras. ADAPT TO OVERCOME . AUDACITY and TACTICS.
this story should in the new call of duty black ops 6

Interesting that none of these extraordinary fighters have Hollywood appearances and boastfulness. Men one would never expect to be so brave.

Iraq was hell on earth...we lost soldiers
Your soldiers should never have been there the invasion was based on lies there was no weapons of mass destruction
Awesome op
Wait wait are we talking chemical weapons or "chemical weapons" like Saddam supposedly had?
Saddam did use chemical weapons on villages. But because of American media. They knew we were going to invade Iraq. And then t gave Saddam plenty of time to move those chemical weapons, or sell them without us knowing. It would be easy to hide chemical weapons. There’s plenty of dessert in Iraq. red indians also had wmds
They ate those beans and let out deadly farths!
They weren't waering the SF emblem or unit shield, actually they would be in the indigenous clothes
Yes they think they are brave like dogs going after one indigenous person
Protip: Get ya self a Jamsheed Rocket Gawd
This is why Op Redwings should have been Green Berets, not SEALS.

basically they don't dig in or do show of force/patrol type operations.

Wondering how fluent the green berets are in the Russian language?
Just thinking.
If you make a documentary about it, Is it still a "Black Op"? 🧐
Common terminology. Nothing worth losing sleep over 😂
more like gray....or monochrome, if there were gays involved, definitely rainbow
It is, i mean look at others like it, Bay of Pigs, Iran Contra, we know about those now and they made documentaries about them.
Is any of the footage real
I respect the comrodary between the two allies...one is an old school guerilla fighters & on the other side its the green berret.
