Little advice. Any chrome you do you need a clear top coat. It’s a must. Reason is chrome is not made to be a top coat so UV hurts it, finger prints will hold on it and it dulls very fast. Great vid just remember all chrome needs top coat.
I bought a 79 CJ5 with M/T valve cover story. I scrubbed them in purple clean with hot water. Still had stuff in the crevices so I put them in a roasting pan with water and antifreeze and put it on my gas grill at low heat (not quite a boil) for about two hours. I hit the with a detail brush to get the last of the gunk off. My final act was to let them run in the dish washer on every cycle possible. I powder coated them with chrome and then translucent red. After they cooled I sanded the ridges and letters and polished them up. Last step was clear powder coat and they look awesome! I have detailed everything under the hood with powder coat. I painted the engine bay semi-gloss black, the engine block and headers are black. Brackets and pulleys are Porsche silver, alternator is trans red over chrome, crank vent and Pumps on the carb. It's amazing what you can do with powder coat and imagination. Great job! Keep posting!
i have to say, ive been skeptical on trying this chrome powder for some of my parts. But from how it looks here the powder looks awesome. Looks more like a polished aluminum, but still looks dope. Good job dude
Thanks for sharing this info I had recently just got me a powder coat gun Looking really nice take us on a walk around once you get it back together An Thank you for wishing Happy Fathers Day
Good deal I wasn't even aware that you can powder coat chrome surprised you didn't go all out and do your spindles or steering linkages I'd like to see more especially on how it holds up also quick question if I replace my ball joints do I have to take the control arms off?
If u have room to do it while it's on the u can, it might just be easier to take it off the car completely to swap ball joints. I was going to do my spindles and upper control arms but I didnt have enough time to prep those parts. My car show is next Saturday and I need to start putting it together again.
also head up you need to do a top coat on chrome. chrome is one powder you need the uv protective coat. cool part is the top coat can be clear and look like chrome or colored to be color chrome. when i started i made these mistakes. when you just do only chrome it will loose color fast and hold hand prints.
I just took my full front suspension for chrome coating..wanted to ask how's the powder coat holding up to the extreme heat of brake brackets..thought of doing those to
It's the TOP COAT that's the tricky part, ... Always turn your lovely chrome into a shit grey! ... If you don't top coat them chrome parts they don't last long at all ... Thanks for sharing video.

Dam ever thing come out nice good work
Looks good to me I'd for sure do little stuff on my ride for sure
I wonder, are you able to give a 1-year review? I would like to know how these parts help up with that awesome paint! Thank you!
I could do a quick review on the next video, the parts are holding up great with the heat from the engine. No chipping and no discoloration
@@lowlowsandmore Knowing that is already very good, thanks for the update! But yes, if you get to it, a short video would be a great addition.
@@lowlowsandmore Any updates? Powder coated some small brackets for the grille how’s yours holding up?
Did you use Eastwood's chrome powder coat? Or the super chrome power???
Badass homie wish you were closer to help me do mine
Dam that shit looks nice for powder coat
Looks real good Man I could imagine when the sun hits it 👍
I didn’t notice a mess of powder all over the place !? Is it a messy process
When I was all done, there was barely a mess. I did 13 parts all together too.
Shits badass man... make a video with chrome parts installed
looks great, how does it hold up? Have you experienced any chipping? I heard the chrome powder doesn't hold up as well.
It's doing great, the valve covers are still in great shape as well.

I did my caliper brackets, not yet the actual calipers. The brackets are doing fine.
Would you be able to powder coat old spoke rims with faded dishes
I'm down to powder coat but you gotta prep them.
@@lowlowsandmore I'm in SoCal sending some rims 2 Seattle Washington asking for him. odd bolt pattern so trying to save rims
@@jaysmith7611 gotcha
Hell yea show us how to powdercoat
VERY nice....damn close to chrome I would say.
How does the chrome colour hold up, on the hot tappet covers?
They are still good, no chipping and no discoloration
Can you polish it ?
I'm not sure, I'll try it
Did you apply a clear coat on anything ? Does anyone know if you can polish or buff this like paint? Maybe to make it shine more ?
It's the TOP COAT that's the tricky part, ... Always turn your lovely chrome into a shit grey! ... If you don't top coat them chrome parts they don't last long at all ... Thanks for sharing video.
Question. On your spring. U know how u hang it on that piece of metal. To hold it up. How does that part cure or how u coated that part
As it hang, that's how I sprayed it with powder. Same process as the other parts.
What video was it that you showed the bridge with the 6” pipes welded on top of the bridge? I need to make one for my 96 fleetwood
Have u tired to polish the powder coating chrome u did?
I haven't tried yet
Do another video with more chrome...good video!👍
I will be doing that soon
@@lowlowsandmore do you clear coat them too?
@@kaneetsate1662 no
How long do u leave it in for and at what temp
Did you clear coat it?

Why did you link a powder gun you didnt use?
Love your video
Bad ass video g nice work

Thats freaking awsome.great video.hey can you share the name of the powder coat you used

What's the name of the kit
It's from Eastwood
Can you clear coat powder coatings?
Yes, they do sell clear powder coat
Show us the final look when u put parts back on
Will do
Look good
Where did u get the gun...wat name
From Eastwood, they sell 1 or 2 different ones
I’d like to see a full video
Hope you don't mess up your coils bro.
If you continue to powder coat , do yourself a favor and buy a sandblasting cabinet. It'll save you a ton of time
I do have one but at my small garage where I have a small air compressor. I cant fit another bigger air compressor in it run the cabinet.
You should throw a v8 in your truck then ir wont be hard to get parts but this video is dope
I have thought about that but I like the 3.9L, thanks for watching bro
@@lowlowsandmore Watch your vids every time you post them
Dude, you need build yourself a Vapor Blasting cabinet!
use brake cleaner to remove the oil, then prep for the parts your painting
Give your nose a rest, you are sniffing up a storm.
THAT SOME BAD ASS SHIT HOMIE! LOOKING GOOD. GOOD SHIT! NOT💩! 😷 I WANNA SEE IT POWDER COAT VID
