    I think this film is exactly what the US needs, especially this year, with certain people casually throwing around the words ‘civil war’ if their political choice doesn’t win. Americans need to wake up to what that really means

    Young father here. It wont matter what side your on,every one in America will lose. No resources,food, heating for winter, all businesses ,banks will go. People will lose their homes and parents will see their children starving,if the children still have parents. We as Americans need to look at what will be lost. Heath care gone,people on life saving medications,good luck and parents watching their sick child dying and no where to go. I'm focusing on children because I'm a new dad and it will affect them,if they make it,scared for the rest of there lives. Doom n gloom,too negative.??? unfortunately this is a very real possibility.

      I agree, but its near impossible with how many different views they bring into this country. We cannot then create an American government because we aren't just governing Americans with American Ideals, we have people from all over with many different values and ways of living. There would be A LOT of division.

    • @letsgobrandon7297
      @letsgobrandon7297 3 місяці тому +1

      I agree with that. All illegals need to be deported, and i’l go step farther that most islamist need to go. They can’t conform to our society (it’s actually against their religion) and seen many them calling for Shria law in the US. We need to deport that threat that takes away our heritage.

    • @spyegle
      @spyegle 2 місяці тому

      Theres a few things to consider. Making a movie about a possible civil war in a realistic manner would be distastefull in this period of time, especially with the division in the country. The only way the movie can end without making one party favorable would be to just destroy the US at the end of the movie, and i dont think that's what they're going for. It's not A24 to make "just a movie about civil war". I do think that the trailer is misleading in a delibarate way, and that it's actually a movie about uniting against a common enemy, and knowing the directors style and history (and its fucking A24), i'm pretty sure theres a lot hidden there that NO ONE excpect. And THAT would be a very good move. "Let's make a movie about civil war that will make people want to see it because they want their party to win in it, and then we show them that we actually can get together to overcome REAL problems and not what politicians of both parties have been coming up with"

    • @letsgobrandon7297
      @letsgobrandon7297 2 місяці тому

      @spyegle: My opinion they are making Texas/California and rest of the states that joined them into the enemy. One part it says “the western alliance will reach DC by July 4th” then shows people entering the capital or whitehouse looking confused and dragging a lady away (which i think is a decoy by the president). Then it shows an airstrike on capital or whitehouse with the president at the end saying “God bless the United States of America”.
      Two things are for sure…they’re not making the US gov the bad guys (unless it’s a Right Wing president) and they’re not making the left the enemy. May not even make the Right the enemy but if it comes down to having to make one those an enemy you know they will make the Right the enemy. A24 is left leaning.
      The pentagon doesn’t allow movie producers to use military equipment if they are portraying them as an enemy. Example: the tanks, helicopters, jets used in the movie.

    Tactically it makes sense that Texas and California would form an alliance. Along with Utah and Arizona. The Port of Long Beach is the biggest supplier of international trade on the west coast. Texas has it's own oil reserves and they're pretty self sufficient. But they need access to international trade. So many products and goods are shipped in from over seas. Plus, something had to happened (on the Federal level) that was so beyond the veil that both Texas and California had to put away their differences and join forces. That's my theory. I'm probably wrong. And don't forget the international wild cards. Which foreign countries are going to back which sides of the war.

    • @hidden-treasures

      It makes sense here too. Both have secessionist factions with the states. Also, Texas is a purple state, not deep red like Mississippi. In the future, it will likely be more purple than it is now.

    If this movie looks at both of our 'sides' in battle with an authoritarian government, it could bring the public together.
    Both 'sides' think the government is a problem, but BIG GOVERNMENT has convinced both 'sides' that only THEIR government is real, valid, and safe.
    This keeps the public at eachothers throats, reassures them of their 'correctness' with every vote, and makes sure governmen- at-large is the ONE THING that always holds the power. Even though that power, is supposed to be BIG PEOPLES in the first place.
    If this movie points that out, against the backdrop of violence-as-warning, it could actually do some good.
    Also....Texas and Cali are mostly LAND, not people with specific ideologies. Most of that land is owned by very few. Most of them are likely conservative. The texas Cali Alliance makes more sense in a ground war, where the actual ground beneath your boots is in play, and we're not just ALL CAPSIN' on Twitter.
    Florida? Well, we all saw that coming.
    And finally: Shout out to the guy with the green hair and the trans-pride fingernail polish firing that shot.
    While violence is never the answer, it's nice to see Stonewall 2.0 will have semiautomatic rifles and bad-ass butch-queens literally SLAYING.

    This hasn’t aged any better in the last month alone, considering the border of crisis, and Texas now defending its own borders, since the government refuses to protect our nation and its citizens, and we currently have 27 other states backing Texas, while the rest are opposed this makes it a very scary movie to be coming out this year

    In the movie California and Texas are independent nations
    They have left the Union
    That doesn't mean they're United.
    Think about back to World War II the west west allied with Russia in the Soviet Union against Germany.
    The alliance between the west and Soviet Union was not an ideological all it was a strategic alliance.
    The same could be said about the California and Texas alliance in the movie it's a strategic Alliance, not an ideological alliance.

    I can see both sides on one hand I think you could use the movie as a warning of how bad it could get although I think there are those who would just see it as fiction and ignore that it could happen. On the other hand it is irresponsible to egg on those idiots in our country who are unhinged enough to think that that would would be cool to live in. You know the Timothy McVeigh's of the world. I find it sad but really do think the framework of society if fragile.

    Glad I saw this reaction video, I'm in Texas and I agree, I don't see how we and California could work together unless it was absolutely necessary. Especially because the culture of California is like a mind virus these days, but, all that being said...I see both of your points. I'm glad we live in a country where we can freely discuss things still (supposedly, social media is making it a little more difficult), and I'm glad we can see a worst case scenario. My hope is it will never come to this tho.

      I'm also glad we live in a country where we can freely discuss things, however it appears to me that one side is trying to prevent the other side from doing so, which is a big-time problem. The growing political division I've seen in this country over the last 40 years or so is basically the Right has been saying "do whatever you want, just leave me alone", and the Left has been saying "we will tell you what to do". That is not a sustainable political environment.

They are probably the main opponents along with smaller states who want to latch on and secede. Would be a very interestinf and complicated situation. Federal government ofc is pretty powerful but the seceesniost states would have much capital(money/resources) to draw on and also major military bases located in those states with a lot of equipment and weapons. Sounds like the feds overstepped and became dictatorship and states didn’t like it and seceded

    Love your reaction guys. I’m surprised I missed this reaction. I for one is looking forward to this movie.
    I have to say the media is bad with some of the racism talk. However, there are some micro aggressions that people of color, like myself do go through and people everyday don’t even know it. But, because I’m black, I do know it. For example, I don’t see color or I have Black friends, so I can’t be racist which ignore the systemic nature of racism and individual biases. Anyway, love you guys. Keep on reacting!

    cali and texas are two states who in the pas said hings like they dont want to be apart of united states in the past , so maybe thats why in this movie they have them working together here,
    maybe this all came about because of how shitty the country was being ran , and not to mention more and more of our freedoms are sneakily being taken away which caused division,
    this movie is scary as hell to me because it can become a reality in the near future ,

    I don't think a CA & TX alliance sounds implausible at all. Think about it;
    - Which states are among the few that could actually make in on their own...CA & TX. And when faced with a stronger common enemy like this it makes perfect sense to team up.
    - This is clearly a dictatorial type of presidency, and they're usually not very fan of local rule(state rights), and would therefore have an adversarial role against the strong states.
    - And right there TX would have all it needs to secede for state rights reason, and CA all the it need for ideological reasons.

    What is bizarre is that your go to critism was racism. The trailer contained nothing about the war being along racial lines so why bring it up? If anything, the division is along the lines of pro government, pro establishment, pro social cohesion etc. As divisive as race is, it's a useful and time proven tool to keep the majority of poor and middle classes fighting among themselves so they don't notice when jobs and money are being offshored.

  • @OutlawCaliber13
    @OutlawCaliber13 4 місяці тому +2

    Near as I can tell, why it happens is because the president is on his third term. US presidents only get two terms. It's the only thing said, or shown in the trailer that would explain the division. Not to mention Texas, and California working together? That's the ONLY thing that made sense. Working together for a mutually beneficial end. Beyond that, we're so different there's not a chance. I still question it under those circumstances. If a Democratic president refused to step down, and went into a third term, I still think California would back them. If a Republican president did it, then even part of the Republican states would turn on them.
    I think it's mostly the youngsters focused on race, religion, sex, etc, and that's because they were taught that in school, shown that on tv, told that by the news, etc. It's just another divisive tactic. Of course, the dumbing down of our youth is a problem as well, but you can't control an educated, intelligent population. Not to forget that our enemies flood the internet with divisive topics every chance they can for the speicific reason of causing that.
    I think less people want civil war than the one guy thinks. They should show us just how brutal it would be. I don't even think they'll get that though, because it'll have a happy ending. In reality, we almost didn't survive the first civil war. One today would likely shatter the US. I'd rather WWIII than civil war.

    • @Zach-sg5uu
      @Zach-sg5uu 2 місяці тому

      No you’re more likely to survive a Civil War than World War III!!
      At least with the Civil War you get a very strong political & social change!!
      Although you don’t want either! With a world war you get nothing but death!!

    Actually, TX and CA teaming up isn't all that impossible. The trailer does mention the president getting a third term in office and using airstrikes on civilians. I think if a president went truly off-the-rails tyrannical like that, it might piss off both states to the point they decide to set aside their differences and join forces to take down a mutual threat. As the old saying goes: "The enemy of my enemy is my friend".
