    I received my Porter Cable impact wrench 2 weeks ago. The first thing I did was apply di-electric grease to the motor fan like they have the tendency for the plastic to weld itself to. I have used it to remove the pinion nut on my mustangs rear diff, driveshaft bolts, axle nuts and lawn mower blades on our riding lawn mower. I am very impressed with this $85 impact on ebay!

    I like my PC impact wrench is the right amount of power, nice grip, decent weight, maybe heavy for ladys, the variable speed trigger is great, and what I love the most is that is such a good price.

      Not bad ..but if you compare to other guns in that torque range ...not a decent weight

    I bought this about a year ago, and your description is spot on. I bought it because I had a bunch of PC stuff already. Like you said, if you have the platform it's an OK impact, but you can get better for about the price point. I have some 4ah replacement batteries that I got from Amazon for about $40 and they have held up well. I am very interested in that new brushless Ridgid though, $159 is a GREAT price point. For the occasional work I do on mine and my wife's vehicles, ( brakes rotors struts etc.)

    Ive got the drill, impact driver, circular saw, reciprocating saw, jig saw, and flash light. No complaints. Love them. Use them on a regular basis in an industrial environment and in a wood shop, will be getting this now thanks to this video. Need something portable when i go jeepin lol. Could you do a review on the cordless stapler and the brad nailer? Really wish they would catch up to Milwaukee and release some more options. Like bandsaw, weed trimmer, hack saw, socket wrench. That would be great. Last time i was at lows btw they had the 4.0 batteries bogo.... crazy deal

      Cordless band saw there is only one to pick, Dewalt., Cordless staplers there again only one to Choose, Paslode battery + gas. Brads are nothing, expect to sink around 3000 on one charge and the gas should die at the same time but not having to lug a compressor garbage and it's so lite! Crown and half rounds are a breeze!

      For the string trimmer you can use the porter cable batteries in the black and decker or vise versa.

    Not bad for a big ol’ beast of an impact. I agree though. For the same price, get the Ridgid Gen5X Brushless impact wrench. Just finished a tire rotation with it (140 ft lbs) and it worked great. The speed settings and hog ring are both big upgrades. A lot more power than the 4X. After 24 lug nuts on and off, the fuel gauge is still full. Got my LSA approved in 2 days too. It’s a keeper.

    20V Porter Cable tools are almost drop in compatible with Black and Decker.
    Some material on the anterior side (as you are using it) of where you slide the battery in will need to be removed and the key hole
    and there is a narrow plastic strip on right side (as you are using it) in the battery bay that is not present on the left side that will need to be removed it.
    keep in mind, neither company will aknowlege this, will probably void warranty, and probably ruin resell value. I have done this and it worked for me. For me I practiced on a more expendable 20v tool before attempting it on a more expensive one. For me it made sense because I have a million black and decker batteries
    Its shame that stanley black and decker cant have a universal 20v battery they are all under the same umbrella!

    Ive owned a few Dewalts. 18v. I got the Porter 18v which was a dual Li-ion and Ni-cad battery. At the time It was cheaper than the comparable Dewalts and had the steel chucks which the comparable Dewalts were plastic/nylon chucks. Never had a problem. Fast, reliable good battery life. The only problem now is getting a replacement 18v Li-ion. Hard to find and twice as much as the PC 20v. Which is odd. But, ill never go back to Dewalts.

    Thanks for the review. Am I mistaken or wouldn’t you pilot hole those lags and speed this whole process up a bit. I may be ignorant on the matter but I’d imagine you won’t split the wood if you pre-drill. Helpful video for sure

    I just bought one of these and it’s only torquing to about 100ft lbs. I’m using a cheap off brand battery but it works fine on my other porter cables so idk what’s wrong

      Well remember the torque # is for my busting not fastening ...might be all it can do ...that does seem light tho .I would think 150 ftlbs it should do

    I bought one of these off Amazon brand new.....bare tool for $99 and I did get the cheapo charger but I've got a few of they're better ones.. and then I bought two of the 4 amp hour knock-off batteries that are pretty popular these days for $60.....as a home gamer I like this impact... and personally I like Porter-Cable I think they're better than Ryobi ... and they have a pretty wide tool selection..@5:00 totally agree.

    I already had a Porter-Cable system with couple small batteries and a charger. So I bought this model for $99 on Amazon and an aftermarket 6 amp hour battery for $35.
    I would not say it takes my lug nuts off like butter, but it works. You definitely need half inch sockets. If you use adapters for 3/8 sockets, it robs power.

    • @toolboss8410
      @toolboss8410  5 років тому

      as you can see the 300 ftlb p.c. took 95ft/bs off like butter .. maybe you nuts are over torqued 🤣🤣🤣

      @@toolboss8410
      No, I have a new, calibrated torque wrench and I'm right at 88 pounds for my lug nuts. I have them on and off alot because I am doing brake pads and rotors, and at the same time experimenting with different tire compounds. It's an E46 M3.
      I actually think my impact wrench is a little weak perhaps. But it serves my purposes. It's definitely not operating quite as well as yours in the video.
      I was really concerned when I first started using it with a 3/8 impact sockets and an adapter. It seemed grossly under powered.. But someone told me that the adapter robs quite a bit of power. They were correct.
      As soon as I got half inch impact sockets, everything started to work MUCH better.
      I don't own a truck or any highly torqued lug nuts, so as long as it works for my M3 lug nuts, I am happy.
      I don't think it's the battery either. I have 3 brand new batteries...two Porter-Cable brand and one aftermarket. My lug nuts come off good enough. It's just takes a little more time then yours did in the video. It has to work for a few seconds and then they come loose.
      And my lug nuts don't have any rust on them nor do they have any never cease but I have completely wire wheel done. They are supposed to be dry torqued.
      I am meticulous about getting exact to work on each lug nut because it makes a huge difference on handling of my front end because I have such stiff bushings... everything has to be very precise for my front end to behave properly.
      I'm not unhappy that I went theb Porter-Cable route. Just prior to this half inch impact wrench, I bought a set of Porter-Cable tools for $110 with a free shipping on eBay. It was their electric drill and quarter inch impact driver set with a battery charger and 2X 1.5 amp batteries.
      I'm very happy with those tools and that's why I went ahead and got their half inch impact wrench.
      Don't even suggest that I contact Porter-Cable or consider parting with my impact wrench to send it back. It's fine for my purposes. I had every chance to send it back via Amazon and declined because the tool serves my purposes just fine.
      If I had a big rig with highly torqued nuts, it might be an issue. I don't see that happening in my future.

    Boss, are you comparing this to the old Dewalt dw059? I have that one and I have lots of Dewalts 20v line. I currently have the Milwaukee 2763, so I'm wondering if it's worth buying the Dewalt 18-20 conversion for my dw059 and using it as a mid torque solution with my modern 4.0 batteries

    • @toolboss8410
      @toolboss8410  6 років тому

      Jon Da Silva yes ...very similar and same specs ...how much is a conversion kit

    • @doctordoom1337
      @doctordoom1337 6 років тому

      Anyone can pick up the dewalt 18v to 20v conversion for around $30 an convert their old 18v tools to the new 20v platform. I'm just wondering if you think this (meaning the Dewalt skinned version) is as powerful as say, the Milwaukee Mid Torque. My Milwaukee 2763, other than for lugs or suspension work is often too much for the job. I did pick up a DFC880, but that only has about 150ft lbs. Most of my work is auto or snow removal, not construction or lawn care.

    This wouldn't be a bad entry level impact, except that it's not priced accordingly. Just like Bauer and Hercules, they're trying to squeeze every nickel that they can get out of us because it's Lithium Ion....BUT IT'S BRUSHED damn it! Lower the price, and it's good to go, IMHO.

      @brodavidb 5 років тому

      Try it, but keep everything in case you want to return it. I have a truck that has lugs tightened to 150 foot pounds. This impact wrench will not budge them. It is supposed to work at over 300 foot pounds. I am using 1/2 inch impact sockets & no adapters or extensions to rob power. It just does not even rate 150 ft lbs in real world. However, check the specs for your vehicle to see how your wheels are torqued. It might work at 80 or 90 ft pounds, but I don't know.

      You can compare them tho one is more for just driving screws. The smaller impact driver, not sure what you would call it. Maybe a 1/4 inch??? ( screw impact driver ). 1400 inch lbs for the smaller driver which is if I'm doing it right a little over a 100 ft lbs. Making the 1/2 inch close to 4000 in lbs.

    If you read the specs on brushed verses brushless you will see a great deal of power decrease. All brushed motors are more powerful but they give up lasting longer for better performance. To put it in automotive terms, My 4 cylinder has a turbo, it has 50 more HP than the non version. It's faster, but will die 1/3rd faster. Pick your poison.
