    I love my PC tools. I have worked circles around most of the “ big” named tools mostly using 1.3aH batteries. The biggest key I have found is making sure to buy the brushless tools. With that being said and as much as I love my tools I am slowly replacing them with Milwaukee tools just because of the lack of support from PC customers support center and nonexistent parts to keep the tools going. Out of 15 tools and batteries I have only had one failure which was a drill clutch. There are no parts available to repair a perfectly good drill with a bad clutch. I spent two weeks going back and forth with customer support just trying to BUY the parts I needed to repair my drill. I still use the other 14 tools and batteries until they die and get slowly replaced. I have been using them for 5-8 years with zero issues up until the drill problem. Hope this helps others in their decision on tool color.

      Thanks for the view. Brushless is the way to go, but there are some incredible buys on the other ones. Won’t pay much, even if they don’t last as long.

      Aside from the longevity I find the brushless have more power and use less battery. Thanks for the reply.

    As a flooring sub contractor who uses strictly Makita, porter cable is still a great brand of tools. I have a bundle tool set that i use for around the house for any project that needs to be done and these tools have gotten the job done for me big and small. personal favorites is the grinder and oscillating tool but that hand held light can be upgraded to a slightly larger hand held one.

      Thanks for the view and comments. I am going to get the bigger light. I am also looking at the new release at TSC, a right angle drill. My son has some of the Makita, and it works well, so you should be in good shape.

    I have a few hand me downs Porter Cable power tools, they are old but they do the job. I ended up picking a P.C. hand planer recently, price was right and works exceptionally well! in my opinion P.C. is underrated. 👋

    Same story for me, I had a Ryobi pre-system 1/4" or 3/8" drill and it worked well thru the years, never failed me. I needed a larger drill, then they had the Ryobi One+ system. I thought the old one always did the job, never let me down, and the Ryobi was cheaper than others probably was on sale too. Now, I bought into the battery system, I had the battery and charger, so it was cheaper to stay in the system than to buy another battery, charger, etc. One by one, I got trapped deeper in the Ryobi system LOL. I'm not a professional using the tools 10 hours a day, but I'm quite the do it yourselfer, and I love the battery powered tools, and I love the variety of tools Ryobi has on their platform. Yeah Dewalt and Milwaukee is probably better, but the Ryobi seems pretty value oriented, for the more casual oriented user. Years ago I bought 2 Craftsman battery powered drills, one 7.2 and the other 9.6 and they did well until the battery died, and a new 12v was cheaper than buying the battery. I built a deck over the weekend, the 7.2v did the pilot holes, the 9.6v drove the deck screws, no nails used, all deck screws, and lag screws.

    • @ManCardTheater
      @ManCardTheater  Рік тому +1

      Sounds like you know what I am talking about. I would do the Ryobi because I may need everything from a dust buster to a flower bed tiller to a yard fogger. They have it all. I don't make my living with these tools, but if I need to build something in a jiff, they work every time. Like I said, my only complaint is the selection on the platform, but that is starting to turn a little bit at TSC. Thanks for watching!!!!

    I got onto this system by getting a porter cable drill and then some Black and Decker stuff and Bostitch 18v (18v same as Porter Cable and B&D 20v Max) dirt cheap clearence. The Bostitch was a short lived Wal-Mart exclusive with Porter Cable internals. The batteries for those 3 sytems are interchangeable if you don't mind doing some slight mods with a dremel. For the B&D batteries to fit the Portle Cable or Bostitch, you need to cut part of the tool off on the battery area, which voids your warranty but doesn't effect the integrity of the tool. However to fit a Portle Cable battery to a Black & Decker tool is much easier. You simply have to cut a little plastic tab off in the battery area. If you find 20v Black and decker tools at yard sales and thrift stores, they are better than you might think. The little blower is super handy for sawdust and the lightweight drills are awesome for driving screws. That Porter Cable 5 1/2" circular saw is actually an identical clone of the Black & Decker. I believe the Recip saw is also a clone but I have not compared them side by side (I like to open my tools to see the internals...).

    • @steamboatmcg2197
      @steamboatmcg2197 6 місяців тому

      The discontinued Bostitch stuff only ever came in a Drill and Impact driver which have the same internals as your Porter Cable ones. It was labeled as 18v, which you may already know is the same as "20v Max". 18v is the working load. That whole 20v Max stuff was just a marketing gimmick started by Stanley Black & Decker (Dewalt)... So, Knowing that you can use your Porter Cable batteries in Black & Decker 20v tools by simply cutting one plastic tab in the tools battery attachment area (I use a sharp chisel to cut it) really expands your potential tool lineup to some degree.

      @ManCardTheater  6 місяців тому +1

      Good information. I have the B&D weed eater and I know I can charger the battery on my quick charger. I did not know of the Bostitch brand of tool. My eyes will be peeled at yard sales. Thanks for the view

    I’ve got the bigger stronger Porter cable 20v impact and it’s a little unwieldy because of the size. Works great but it doesn’t fit in some spots. Ordered this one and it should be in by this weekend. I know the Porter cable tools aren’t as great as some of the yellow or red tools, but for me, they work great. I got them initially at Lowe’s with a set. It was a drill, reciprocating saw, circular saw and flashlight with a charger and 2 batteries for $200. Being a new homeowner for the price I couldn’t beat it. Ended up using them for every and slowly acquired most of the 20v lineup. Happy they are making 1/2 impacts now for work on cars!

      Thanks for the view and the feedback. Sounds like we are cut from the same cloth. Something that works for our projects without paying for a yellow or red price tag. Would be different if I made my living with them, but instead they complete my projects.

    I have the Porter Cable grinder and reciprocating saw. Both of these tools will not cut or grind without "stalling". They just stop working until I release the trigger and re-squeeze the trigger. I returned a grinder to Tractor supply but the new one does the same thing. This happens with a fully charged battery. I wish I had bought the corded models but like everyone else I like the battery powered stuff and I have some other PC tools so I am committed to the batteries. The other problem is finding someone in customer service to ask questions.

    • @ManCardTheater
      @ManCardTheater  11 місяців тому +1

      I haven’t had the issue with mine. I have 2 reciprocating saws. One I bought new and another was a cheap yard sale find. My angle grinder was at an estate sale. I see both are now available brushless, so I don’t know it’d they have better power. The grinder I always buy we the 4 amp batteries unless I am just cutting screw heads. Thanks for the view and feedback.

      Run 4.0Ah batteries or even after market 6.0Ah for those tools. The smaller batteries do not have enough juice.
      I use the grinder daily for metal work to include grinding heavy mower blades all day. No issues with larger battery.
