Picked up mine (same as your test car but red leather interior). Love it. Outstanding ride quality and very very quick. Great Review!! Cheers from Vancouver Island 👍🏼
A great balanced review of a great car Rebecca. It certainly looks great sans that big snout grill of most new BMW's although I'd look for a different colour if I was in the market for one. Having the rear seats a tad cramped for slightly taller people is no bad thing for me as I only have imaginary friends. The price is steep so I'd probably wait a while and see how the used market looks.
Test drove one recently, and having owned fast cars, I was still surprised how quick this car really is, I clocked 0-60 in 3.8 seconds in launch mode and it serves huge spoonfuls of torque. Pick up is quick but you can also cruise all day. The engine sounds slightly muted, but not enough to not hear it, including bangs and pops when you drive it hard. It really is a great all round car, it almost has that smaller GT feel to it when cruise, but puts on its M hat when you want to have a bit of fun. It doesn't make you feel on edge like with the outgoing M2 Comp, its more composed, for everyday driving I cannot think of a better car at the moment. Now I just need to be kind to the piggy bank to buy one.
I love this car so much I’ve ordered one! I think it’s well priced vs rivals- less than £5k more than a Golf R and waaay cheaper than a similarly specced RS3. Great review, subscribed 😊👍🏼
Almost all manufacturers are putting things on the option list, which were standard previously. Hence some fairly standard hot hatches (sub 300PS) with those same common-sense options are knocking on the door of £40K. I think therefore that the M240i is quite competitively priced, given that it is quite special (rear headroom aside)..
@@razrramon2256 oh no. You ended up with a pesant spec?. My old 435i had Harmon kardon and seat belt pushers. My M4 which was twice the price didn't have Harmon or seat belt pushers. That's bmw life.
@@razrramon2256 What? No cruise? Surely that's standard even on the poverty specs. No heated seats is annoying but I can understand that more. Is yours the newst m240i or older? Eitherway, I'd contact BMW in case someone forgot to fit it
First review that mentions just how limited headroom is in the back. Good job Rebecca in pointing out all aspects of a car. To be honest I found the same issue with legroom, but then I’m a little taller than 5ft 4.5inches! It’s a shame, as there is a fair bit more room in the ‘old’ F22 version that I own and love. To me it was one of the good things about previous gen BMW coupés, you had the best of both worlds. When you have more than one friend (hard to believe in my case I know!) or relative to transport it matters. It would rule one out for me straightaway. Shame, as I’m on my 5th BMW coupé at the minute, but then I’m still not really sold on BMW styling recently either.
Seeing where things are going in the market right now with cars and the small coupé segment almost dissapearing, i would keep that 2 series 😁 future classic for sure! My brother has a 1 series coupe and he still drives it as he is not satisfied with the styling of the new ones either
@@P17contreras You’re on my wavelength. I’m thinking this one’s a keeper. It’s why I bought one of the last produced of the previous generation models. No regrets.

I had the previous 2 which was a great car. The reason I didn’t get another one was due to the delay in releasing this new model so I went for something totally different instead. Love this new version and could well be my next purchase 👍
Great review and great car. I always love Rebecca’s reviews. Would love to have the M240. I couldn’t wait and went for an M440i which is a little more refined but less nimble I’d say
I’ve owned mine since 2/22 and it’s everything you said. I love the looks (I have the same gray but with the red interior) and it drives and handles amazingly. I’ve also got a Porsche Boxster and in most situations I’d much rather be driving this. The only time I’ll sell it is for the convertible when it’s offered and at that time I’d part with the Boxster.
Perhaps this is the car with the right balance between enought power and drivability. I mean most modern fun (super)cars have sooo much power, it is perhaps too much on our European roads....
@@christophersayah3036 Yes, but considering 2 grand could change a good persons life, being rich doesn't automatically give you the ethical right to waste money.
I’ve ordered a 220i, (can’t quite get to the m240i). Rebecca stated electric seats standard across the range, don’t think this is correct can anyone confirm who owns one?

Grey Sludge colour makes it to BMW's ! Back end of the car is not good at all. I suspect it will drive beautifully though, and would go for the smaller engined 2 litre 4 cylinder - would be good if they gave that the "M" magic touch !
They did give the 230i the "M" touch; it can be optioned with the M-differential and everything same as the M240i, it just won't have the B58 engine and associated power.
Nice update! But...had a 2 for three years and it was nothing but a pain in the arse. Was in the shop for more than 90 days total, and not for small issues (like not being able to find why it was putting itself in park at a stoplight - in LA traffic!). That was the third and last BMW this family will ever see. Sure, you can look fly, but only when it's working like it should. No thanks.

I agree. It just doesn't flow as a complete design, it's a load of angles that don't add up to an over all shape. The lights are horrible. At least it hasn't got that gaping grill of it's bigger brothers. No doubt BMW will plaster it in ///M badges and casuals will love it yawn ....
