Mine were factory lubed and had to remove the lube, I also removed the silicon dampeners on the stem and lubed the switches correctly, in addition I also filmed the switches. After I did that, they sounded and felt a bit premium. I encourage you to try it, just don't lube the stem feet though, it will make it a linear, since the Outemu Grays have their tactility on the lower side.
Switches are mounted in the acrylic plate layer and are what hold the PCB in place, it is otherwise just kind of floating in there and if you forget and remove all the switches you will have to open it up to hold the PCB in place while you insert switches again (not a bad idea to do anyway so you can support the hotswap sockets for extra security). And yes, it's a stacked case with 4 layers, screws from the bottom directly threaded into the top acrylic layer.
I think they are pretty decent for the price ($32 for 200 on Ali), pretty average bump, but after using them all day for a week the inconsistent noises really started bugging me. They're my first silent switches and I think being silent ends up meaning that little spring, leaf, and slider noises become more noticeable than they would otherwise be and I don't have lube on hand yet to see if that helps.
@@helenhousandi I will be getting this for my first budget mechanical keyboard, but will be lubing it to reduce the spring noise as outemu switches tend to be pingy. And also, i think they are cheaper on taobao if you're able to shop there using an agent.
@@helenhousandi inconsistensi isnt a good thing on switches, i think i will buy em hoping inconsistenci is only on the sound, due to spring ping and fixable things with lube, do you feel them inconsistensi on the feel or only in the sound? the tactility is forgetable?, if your answers are "yes" first question ," no "for the second, i will buy em
@@BA-oy9uo Yup I’m on U4 Bobas now, with the springs from Everglide Oreos :) I’m not yet fully convinced about the nothing but bump feel but I do really like them. And they’re so quiet. Zilents sound loud next to them.
I think they're pretty decent for the price and for people who don't like super big bumps, but if you can splurge a bit more and like a bigger bump the U4 Bobas are by far the best silent switch I've tried. Silent Skies are also very good, smaller bump with some pretravel. I didn't end up lubing the springs on these but I think it would help a lot and not tooo many switches to mod on a 40% :)
POV: that space key is slapin the shit out of you
well done, very nice board

Removing the dampeners seems like it defeats the purpose? That's also a lot of effort for budget switches, I've since moved on to other things.
Cute keyboard!
Hola
Mechanical ⚙️ Keyboard and works 🌞
Very nice silenty
I love it
Hi, is it possible to put a foam in between the pcb and plate for yc66? Or maybe a case foam?
Yes, but it needs to be pretty thin. I used almost paper thin packaging foam. Any thicker and it would be hard close, while also risking breakage.
Hey how are the keycaps? I plan to buy these for my yc66 if they're good and have equal gap and quality.
They're good! Thick, good printing, consistent.
Nice
what mounting did the case use? aldo is it stacked?

@@helenhousandi so sandwich?
Its tactile bump big?
how are they compared to other switches that you have tried?

@@helenhousandi yeah that's why the boba u4 switches are much better, leaf ping was fixed

Wow this is awesome, you type faster than me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok😐
What are your thoughts now, after using a ton of other keebs? Trying to make a nice portable 40% and considering these switches.

@@helenhousandi thanks so much for your reply! Helps a ton :)
Does this have a tactile bump?
Yup! Pretty decent one all things considered, I would say more than a typical Brown switch, although definitely not Holy Panda territory.
fast typer
Lubed?
No, unfortunately I don't have any on hand right now. I'll definitely try it out when I get some though, springs are pretty noisy.
