I feel like a lot of people sit in the under $200 market, especially when the hobby grew so much when covid hit and there's been plenty of innovation in the under $200 space. When it was first isolated, the scientist who discovered it first called it "Alumium," then later changed it to "Aluminum" (I suppose because he thought alumium sounded dumb or too close to alum), and then a year or 2 later changed it to "aluminium" to fit the naming pattern of elements like helium, lithium, beryllium, etc. All this to say: "aluminum" came first.
Love how everywhere but the US spells it as "Aluminium". America just always has to try and go out of its way to be different. (Before anybody says anything, I live in the US.)

that is otherworldly levels of expensive! I hope for the sake of those interested, they sell the keycaps separate. I know it’s a different market, but $300 could cover such a nice custom 65% (e.g. mode envoy, bakeneko65, many of the recent entry level 65s from WS, QK, IrisLabs).
my $30 ahh brown switch keyboard sounds just like this. Literally unlubed, untrimmed, and everything in it is basically plastic not to mention the floating keys clearly not helping the acoustic. 10% the price, 78 keys with PBT double-shot keycaps, same experience (well the spring can be audible if your head is right next to it but ain't no people put their head next to the keyboard when using it). Don't get rob.
Glarses makes me think i know what he's talking about regarding things i wouldnt usually give the slightest of shits about. He's the perfect content creator.
@ just get 3 stream deck XLs and reprogram them to different keys (or 2 if you like compact keyboards)

That said, the Optimus Maximus is a terrible keyboard due to key size variance and same-sized oled panel for every key, switch choice and implementation, terrible glare from the keycap domes, etc.
Surprisingly doesn't take the cake for most overpriced for quality keyboard. Drop ALT/CTRL (when it used to be $200-250 USD) takes the crown in that category by a mile. GREATLY regret buying it several years ago as a newbie mech keeb buyer and getting a shiny polished turd.
As someone who bought the drop alt and later sold it on to another Newb, I don't regret it at all. It helped me get into the hobby and find my Niche. It also reminded me that I never want to use an RGB board ever again. xD

idk man at this point just get the 18 dollar logitech k120 keyboard, fueled my childhood and survived 3 separate soda spillages onto it and i still have it somewhere over there
the price doesn't surprise me. creator merch usually has higher margins. this one even has licencing fee (for the anime) on top. without these two, this keyboard will be selling for about half that price and i'd seriously consider buying it. the extra space under the pcb is great for DIYing all sorts of things.
you should make an ink keyboard with all of the letters from the English alphabet so when you type you have to have a piece of paper under the keyboard

There is only one Keyboard for me... the Microsoft 4000. It's cheap, but there's also nothing else like it and it's reliable When I built my first PC back in 2007 I used the only extra keyboard we had since it was a super budget build, it was one of these. I'm on my 5th or 6th one now, I kinda hate regular keyboards. I hope they never stop making these things! I also wish there were more Kayboards to choose from with this form factor- every ergo keyboard is different and they all feel awkward as a result.
The printing of the picture (not the legends) on those keycaps is gorgeous, so kudos to whatever manufacturer they had do that part. The design team that sent them that design, knowing the angle it would ACTUALLY be viewed from and still going through with that design choice anyway… fam :/
