I feel like a lot of people sit in the under $200 market, especially when the hobby grew so much when covid hit and there's been plenty of innovation in the under $200 space. That being said.. higround and 100 thieves have no business making a keyboard
Watching someone be genuinely excited about a thing is a great way to become excited about a thing. I literally never think about my typing experience AT ALL but every time I open a video on this channel I go "Oh huh I should get a custom keyboard"

That said, the Optimus Maximus is a terrible keyboard due to key size variance and same-sized oled panel for every key, switch choice and implementation, terrible glare from the keycap domes, etc.

very first thing i noticed was the lack of legends on the keys. i know the layout of the letters by heart, but i often forget the precise location of things like the windows key, the ctrl buttons, which symbols correlate to which numbers, etc. like 😭 may as well just frame the keyboard and mount it on your wall
my $30 ahh brown switch keyboard sounds just like this. Literally unlubed, untrimmed, and everything in it is basically plastic not to mention the floating keys clearly not helping the acoustic. 10% the price, 78 keys with PBT double-shot keycaps, same experience (well the spring can be audible if your head is right next to it but ain't no people put their head next to the keyboard when using it). Don't get rob.
Surprisingly doesn't take the cake for most overpriced for quality keyboard. Drop ALT/CTRL (when it used to be $200-250 USD) takes the crown in that category by a mile. GREATLY regret buying it several years ago as a newbie mech keeb buyer and getting a shiny polished turd.
As someone who bought the drop alt and later sold it on to another Newb, I don't regret it at all. It helped me get into the hobby and find my Niche. It also reminded me that I never want to use an RGB board ever again. xD
Glad to see someone finally say what needed to be said but with that can you do a review of the HiGrounds Titan Heart switches? I have actually heard pretty good things about these switches they made in collaboration with TTC.
I know nothing of the technical language and yet I’m so captivated by the way he goes through all the different options and how he genuinely feels about design decisions…
Love how everywhere but the US spells it as "Aluminium". America just always has to try and go out of its way to be different. (Before anybody says anything, I live in the US.)
Have you seen the Flux Keyboard? It got a screen underneath to display shortcuts and hotkeys for applications. It's also pretty dang expensive and has a mechanical keyboard overlay that just baffles me on how it even works.
you should make an ink keyboard with all of the letters from the English alphabet so when you type you have to have a piece of paper under the keyboard
that is otherworldly levels of expensive! I hope for the sake of those interested, they sell the keycaps separate. I know it’s a different market, but $300 could cover such a nice custom 65% (e.g. mode envoy, bakeneko65, many of the recent entry level 65s from WS, QK, IrisLabs).
There is only one Keyboard for me... the Microsoft 4000. It's cheap, but there's also nothing else like it and it's reliable When I built my first PC back in 2007 I used the only extra keyboard we had since it was a super budget build, it was one of these. I'm on my 5th or 6th one now, I kinda hate regular keyboards. I hope they never stop making these things! I also wish there were more Kayboards to choose from with this form factor- every ergo keyboard is different and they all feel awkward as a result.

But overall it's a pretty nice keyboard ngl, they listened to reviews and made some improvement which is pretty good. But for $300? Count me out, there's a lot more other good options that's so much cheaper and better.

Putting the key caps back on is basically a picture puzzle
On the side it says what letter it is
It has the letters written on the side
but the letters are hard to see. you would have to super focus on every key for about 1 minute.
