    Hey, giant, how are you? Found out your channel some time ago and I'm binge-watching your videos, specially your tier lists, awesome stuff. Listen, if possible, would you consider doing a boss guide? Like, showing their moves, the cues that foreshadow their attacks, good weapons and builds for each boss etc.. Anyway, great content, your videos are not only informative, but very pleasant to watch, you're very chill and have a nice voice!

      Hey Caio! Great suggestion and good timing. Someone else asked for that recently as well, so I have it on my to-do list. I have some other stuff in progress and in the planning stage but will put some thought into what that could look like. Also, I'm glad you're enjoying the channel and the tier lists! That tier list playlist is embarrassingly long lol!

    Found your channel after coming back to dead cells, haven't played since they made crossbows 2 handed (that wasn't the reason I stopped, that's just the last thing I remember)
    My current favorite build is running heavy crossbow, with the point-blank mutation, with the magic bow in the acrobatipack. Pulling enemies in, and then hitting with 10 arrows is enough to kill pretty much anything

    • @DisappointedGiant
      @DisappointedGiant  27 днів тому +1

      Oh nice, welcome back! It sounds like you haven't played in a few years, lots of changes since the early days.
      That heavy crossbow build sounds awesome, just dropping a ton arrows directly into an enemy up close. That feels like a super jacked up version of the Nearsighted Archer build! If anyone else catches this comment, you should definitely try this one out. Thank you for the suggestion!

  • @DUNGEONEERS
    @DUNGEONEERS 26 днів тому

    One of my favourite Biome builds is Ice Blast with Freeze Nearby Enemies, frostbite, and no mercy. Completely wipes biomes with single hits. Only issue is you need a second weapon for bosses, dont forget it!

    • @DisappointedGiant
      @DisappointedGiant  26 днів тому

      Frostbite + No Mercy is such a great pair! Especially with things that freeze nearby enemies like you said. I like taking that with heavy weapons that slow nearby enemies, too; not as heavy damage but it's usually enough to kill bats and rats instantly. Good thing we have that backpack for boss weapons ;)

  • @Ecliptor.
    @Ecliptor. 4 дні тому

    I think my favourite and strongest build I've played in 5bc so far (I died at Astrolab trying to get the key for the Sonic Carbine blueprint) is a Jeff Bezos Pickaxe build.
    Always pick the incentivized biome (extra money), and it has 2 modes: 1st is the investment arc, where you take Midas Blood, Get Rich Quick and Necromancy/Recovery (pick whichever 3rd mutation you prefer most, recovery is nice for bosses, necro is better in biomes I think). You might reach 60-100k in like 3 or 4 biomes. That's where you switch to 2nd mode, pay to win arc, where you take Gold Plating, Dead Inside and Soldier's Resistance and you tank hits using gold. With enough Survival scrolls, you will have ~35k hp.
    Gold Plating works with hp %, so the more hp you have, the less gold you pay for hits.
    Saw it from Veedotme and it's by far the funniest and strongest build I've played, seeing a Pickaxe in the starting tubes is always a treat, as I don't disable any weapon. Next time I get it I probably win (I will ignore the Astrolab blueprint lol), not exactly a beginner build but I think you can unlock most of these quite early.

    • @DisappointedGiant
      @DisappointedGiant  3 дні тому +1

      The name of that build is so funny. I haven't seen a ton of Vee's build videos but that's a good one! This is more of an intermediate build but I like it. Something like this shows how many different ways you can find pieces to put together into crazy builds in this game.

  • @ColetheFlame01
    @ColetheFlame01 27 днів тому +1

    the Nearsighted Archer is almost identical to my 3rd BC winning run where I also managed to beat HotK without taking a hit but instead of Infantry Bow, it was Heavy Crossbow that admittedly did have double damage haha. it plays almost identically and the mutations are still the same and it hits so hard that most enemies really won't be surviving and you can even oneshot elite enemies with the crit. its insanely fun if a bit risky.

    • @DisappointedGiant
      @DisappointedGiant  27 днів тому

      Hey, Cole! Using a 2x Heavy Crossbow and Point Blank must have been insane. Good timing, Spartakill198 just commented with a similar build but they also used Magic Bow in the backpack. I thought of using some of the crossbows in this video but I think 2-handed stuff might be a little tricky for newer folks. Great build and congrats on getting your 3BC win!

    • @ColetheFlame01
      @ColetheFlame01 27 днів тому

      @@DisappointedGiant I've tried using Acrobatipack but it really isn't my style and honestly the only pack mutation I tend to use is Armadillopack cause its admittedly very powerful and is almost necessary for crossbows. And yes the crossbows can be tricky especially if you are very used to using a shield. thanks for the reply and hope you're doing well!

    Guy who watches your vids from work here! Perfect timing my man. Also dude I really, really like your original tracks. I wonder if you've heard of the artist Cloudkicker. I feel like you'd really like him if you haven't heard him already!

      Andy from work! I hope your day is going well, glad the video came at a good time.
      Thank you for the compliment about the tunes! I am a H-U-G-E Cloudkicker fan. I found out about Ben when Beacons came out and it blew my mind, some of the most important music I've heard. There's definitely some Cloudkicker DNA in my tunes, too; when I get stuck writing I think "what would Ben do?" Have you heard his new band, Supervoid Choral Ensemble?

    • @Andymosity
      @Andymosity 25 днів тому

      @DisappointedGiant Dude that's amazing! Your music for sure has Cloudkicker DNA in a really tasteful and subtle way. I even thought I was reaching for asking, but my ears now feel validated haha! I also play guitar and write progmetal type stuff! Ben's music has similarly been an important experience for me. I actually had zero idea about his new project... I'm gonna look it up and listen to it now :D As a tradesies, I recommend you check out the band Astronoid. My gut tells me you will dig them

      @@Andymosity Hah, you have some good taste! I was into Astronoid when Air came out but haven't kept up with them much. I saw them live in 2022 with Holy Fawn (sick show) but should probably listen to some of their recent stuff.
      That's so awesome that you write tunes, too! If you have anything posted and are comfortable sharing I'd love to hear it. If you do want to share but don't want to post it here I'm at disappointedgiant on Discord and GMail. No pressure either way, though!

      @DisappointedGiant That's freagn awesome! You have good taste too man. I thought I'd getcha with Astronoid since they're a bit under the radar. That show musta been great. Astronoid is on my list of bands to catch live!
      I do have one tune loaded up on Spotify called "Wayfinder". I wrote it for my buddy's project called Archaelogist. I'm writing amd recording stuff for my own project right now so I'll def share it with ya once it's up, and I'll shoot you demos or somethin when I get them goin. It's all 7 string stuff so I hope it'll be up your alley!

      @DisappointedGiant  22 дні тому +1

      @@Andymosity Bro. BRO! Wayfinder is SO good, you've GOT to be kidding me. No lip service, I genuinely loved it. The harmony choices are so great, too. Seamless. Definitely please keep me in mind when you have more music out or if you ever want to collab - if this is what you have cooking I'd love to hear more of it!
      I did some digging on Archaeologist and listened to a few more songs off of Elements and Odysseys and I'm really digging what I'm hearing. I realized I've previously blasted their cover of "In the Blood" a bunch a year or two ago. In a wild twist of fate I *literally* hit the ending in Hades on a fresh file last night so heard the song in-game like 12 hours ago. I love synchronicity like this, it's like rolling a 4x Electric Whip right after finding a Philosopher's Stone ;) I really appreciate you sharing this, I'm gonna grab Elements on CD. Keep in touch!

  • @creepykid92
    @creepykid92 26 днів тому

    Hey, disappointed giant. There's another brutality build that's really good. It's called "Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru". First you grab the assassin's dagger which deals a critcal hit when the enemy is facing away from you. And the second thing i would grab it the Phaser skill, which allows the player to teleport behind the nearest enemy. And the mutation i would get is Predator which gives you invisibility after every melee kill. Just in case you have 3 or 4 enemies side by side to each other. I would also grab the skill Lightspeed, which allows the player to dash forward for the first use of it and dashes back when used right after the first use, but thats because I think Lightspeed and Phaser work hand in hand and not mandatory. Lightspeed also helps with the case of enemies being right beside each other as previously mentioned. I think that's it. If anyone would like to improve on the build, please reply. I'm only newly 1BC so I don't have every blueprint.

    • @DisappointedGiant
      @DisappointedGiant  26 днів тому

      That's a nice build! Phaser + Assassin's Dagger is a great pair, even better with Predator. Scheme would be another great mutation to use with that, too, since it gives a DPS boost to your first attack after using a skill. Since you're using Phaser so much with that build you'd get that extra damage pretty much every hit.

    love the guide videos! can you do a guide against bosses? that’s where all my runs end if i’m not going the concierge and timekeeper route, but i want to branch out into other areas without losing. I also want to complete boss rush against dlc bosses 😅

    • @ColetheFlame01
      @ColetheFlame01 27 днів тому +1

      I'm not an expert per say but for think of each route like a "this style works better" with Conjunctivius if you want an easier time I recommend Wolf trap to trap the very fast tentacles and using a ranged weapon to have better chances of hitting Conjunc more often than not but a fast melee weapon will work too. for Mama Tick I recommend tactics more than anything and avoid fire weapons, the level is completely submerged in water so Electric Whip, Lightning Rods, anything with electricity will do wonders there. for Scarecrow....just....gosh don't fight Scarecrow if you can help it until you have S rank gear guaranteed, its a miserable fight. for the Giant avoid using long range builds and focus more on parrying and DoT effects to constantly damage both hands so that when you break one you can break the other one soon after to keep the Giant stunned for longer. HotK is a test of everything so nothing really to mention but don't use Marksman's bow as the arena is small and he will also knock turrets into the spike pits so don't fully rely on them. as the for the DLC end game bosses? I got nothing, good luck on them.

    • @DisappointedGiant
      @DisappointedGiant  27 днів тому

      Hey Timepop! VeeDotMe has a handful of overexplained boss videos that might help since he covers Conjunctivius, Giant, and the first two DLC bosses. I recommend giving them a look to see if they help out, but I'll also make a note on my to-do list to see if I can cover some bosses at some point. Even though there are already some guides out there it's a part of the game that I'm lacking on over here. Appreciate the suggestion!

      @timepopsicle3495 also this! Great comment by Cole that might help get things moving, too.
      lol about Scarecrow though. Super easy with Wings of the Crow and Electric Whip/turrets and doable with parrys but pretty much miserable for most other builds.

    I would like to make a challenge suggestion. How about you try to beat the game (from 0 BC to 5 BC) using only the weapons that are already unlocked from the start?
    Just so we are clear, I am NOT speaking of the "Starter Bow", "Rusty Sword" and "Old Wood Shield". I am talking about the weapons the game lets you use from the very beggining of the game (Electric Whip, The Nutcracker, Balanced Blade, Ice Grenade, Sinew Slicer and a couple others).
    That would be a cool way to show how well these itens work together and how Dead Cells can be beaten with little to no grind.
    Oh, by the way, you would still be allowed to unlock base blueprints (aka the first potions and a couple of other things), you just can't unlock new itens (Broadsword, Bloodsword and such would be out of question)

    • @DisappointedGiant
      @DisappointedGiant  23 дні тому +1

      I love this challenge! I've done challenges with no Collector unlocks on older versions but would love to do something more reasonable like this. I was just talking with a couple of other folks about early game items and it's wild how many good things are available right from the start. IMO some of the strongest tactics items are available from the get (the Fire and Steel build can carry 0-5BC). I think Symmetrical Lance is the only thing that unlocks automatically so I wouldn't be able to avoid that, but would skip the PQ lore room items and everything else. I do have a bunch of stuff planned but would really enjoy this!

      Hey Maxime! I've streamed a couple of times on UA-cam so when I end up doing that again it'll likely be here since I don't have any presence on Twitch. I've thought about setting up OBS so I can multistream to both platforms but haven't looked into it much yet. I agree with you about the streaming community - on occasion I'll stumble onto a good stream or someone speedrunning the game, but most of the time there doesn't seem to be a lot of folks playing.
