M. what does a white " 1skull " mean above our character ?
a. The ice grenade's freeze lasts for 6 seconds. Biters crawl from the dead is an affix that causes enemies killed/hit by the weapon/ability to spawn a bunch of little pink guys on death that will attack enemies for a few seconds before despawning. "Upon thawing, the enemy suffers from bleeding" is another affix that makes enemies bleed after the freeze wears off. - affixes are randomized. If you see a weapon or ability with a bunch of random effects written under its item description, those are randomized affixes. b. Every kill you get when you use killer instict will reduce ability cooldowns by a certain number which scales with your scrolls in brutality. If you have an ability with a cooldown of 10 seocnds, each melee kill doesn't reduce the total cooldown time of the ability, i.e. the total time written for the abilty will still be 10 seconds, but killing enemies essentially skips time forward, passing the ammount of time written on the mutation i.e. half a second every time you kill an enemy. So if a melee kill reduces cooldowns by half a second, killing 20 enemies would instantly alleviate the cooldown, but once you use the ability it would still have a 10 second cooldown that you can reduce by killing enemies. c. You will get a marker on your head if you're in the effective radius. Just keep away from enemies until the marker appears and you're good. It applies to all sources of damage. d. It applies to the next sucessful hit you land. The effect will wear off in 8 seconds if you do not hit an enemy. e. You'll take double damage if you use it, but it has double DPS. f. When an enemy looks stunned and has the stun effect icon on their head. Enemies get stunned if you hit them enough, or if a weapon specifically states that it stuns enemies. g. Pressing the roll button. h. You have picked up one of the weapons mentioned in point e. i. You get hyperarmour when you use it. If you're in the middle of an attack animation and an enemy hits you, you won't get staggered. Pretty useless if you ask me. j. The next attack after you reload is a crit regardless of whether or not you've actually reloaded anything. k. inflammable oil is oil that is not on fire. Burning oil is oil that is on fire. Pretty stupid names, I know. Why is it called inflammable oil if it can clearly be set on fire? Inflammable oil does nothing on its own, but some weapons will have an affix that increases damage to enemies doused in oil, and if you set an oiled enemy on fire they'll get the burning oil debuff which is essentially just burn but stronger. L. A red mutation scales with red scrolls, etc. If you see a number on a mutation that looks suspiciously specific, it probably scales off scrolls e.g. the ammount of health that the soldier's resistance mutation gives you scales off your total scroll count. M. One hit and you're dead until you kill the ammount of enemies written next to the skull.
newer to dead cells, 50 hours 3 bc, good guide despite it sounding like a vile nasty disease-carrying insect flew through into your mouth and you swallowed it halfway through the video, at 14:15 specifically I think I actually audibly heard a tear roll down your face, but I digress. I've been messing with affixes and been getting a general outlook on how you build things and interactions with items (fire vs enemy in water synergy has a bug where it doesn't apply stacks of fire Dot), but dead cells has been very different than how you build in the other few roguelikes I've played (isaac, EtG, cat goes fishing) to where you essentially just get blessed by god with a good item and then just run your build off of it, (getting a good legendary essentially) or you just end up carrying your entire run off of skill to maximize the output of gimmicky items/overpower getting dogshit all game.
How the hell do you audibly hear a tear roll down my face? Well... Many (metaphorical) tears were shed during the making of the voiceover; you have no idea how many takes I had to do. Though, the sounds you're hearing are probably just me fiddling with the clamp at the bottom of my mic. I do that all the time, and it makes a quite rolling noise.
Interesting, I will continue never using a shield unless I can backpack it with armadillo. Nearly got a 3rd Boss Cell with this tactic so far in under 39 hrs. Seems to be working.
All strategies work, but some strategies work better than others. You could also get the 3rd boss cell with a hand hook build in under 39 hours, and it would work. Just sayin.
It's the gentleman's outfit, you get it by finishing the parkour section in the bank. Don't do it in 5BC, I made that mistake when I got it, and only after finishing Celeste Dead Cells edition I realised I should probably have done that in 0BC. Anyways, that's _my_ outfit. Go find your own (/j).
For ppl that want to get first boss cell they should use ice bow + lightning bolt combo, u freeze enemy with ice bow and then quickly kill when it cannot move with lightning bolt
I mean, that's just a regular lightning bolt build with extra steps. You don't need to freeze enemies to get bolt damage off. You'd be better off just running the ice xbow if you want to tag freeze then open fire.
@@Salmonwithfeet ok. Still it helped me out cuz I play on mobile and its pretty difficult to avoid damage so firstly Im always freezing enemy so it cant move
Great guide, but is it worth to use shields not on bosses cuz it seems slower than just trying to kill enemies before they can even atack? Its safer with a shield but you have like 6 malaise stacks and personally its really uncoumfortable to play even with 2 malaise stacks. Also why are secret rocks highlighted with green? How did you do that? Anyways really helpful guide
Yes? Absolutely? Not like using a shield magically makes malaise scale 89 times faster; this isn't risk of rain 2, missing scrolls cannot be accounted for, whereas malaise can. Using a shield has nothing to do with malaise scaling. In fact, using a shield speeds up gameplay; faster animations mean you can get right back into combat, being able to string together parries means that you never have to disengage, retaining position allows you to stay in an agressive position, and stun allows for you to keep whaling on enemies. About your point of it being faster to kill enemies before they can attack; you can still do that with a shield. Very little has changed. It's not like you can powerstance weapons, if an enemy decides not to attack you, you are going to use one of the weapons you have, and not the other, unless it happens to be called the boomerang. DoT gives a damage boost, but for the sheer squishyness of dead cells enemies it's nothing to worry about if you're thinking about using the fairly short timeframe of killing an enemy before they can even attack. Not enough time for DoT to make a substantial difference. You shouldn't even be worrying that much about malaise. It's nothing having more damage and not getting hit can't account for; if enemies had more health with malaise I would be scared, but it's just Damage Attack speed (which shield can help a great deal with) Spawn rate (which shields also help with) Teleport range (redundant) Aggro range (redundant) and Elite transformation time (redundant) I wamt to make a malaise PSA, but Psyechie has already done that. The secrets thing is an accessibility setting. I have a condition.
Please don't add super-loud sounds to your video. Some of us do use headphones, and that sudden voice is really annoying and painful to the ears. Otherwise great video
I know... Multiple people have brought that up to me and I forgot how to mute the track. It bugs me just as much as it bugs you, as a fellow headphones user.
Yeah, good vid :) I passed 5bc also long time ago with carabine+hokuto tough those are nerfed now :/ Could do an updated pairing video next :) There are many but those are a year old or so...
Carbine is still good! Hokuto's is also like, as I said, still a thing. People have a tendency to overplay dead cells balance changes. Also, sorry to be dumb, but what do you mean by pairing?
@@Salmonwithfeet Ah just noticed, pairing as in combo of the weapons/skills that work together : Hokuto + Carabine, Assassins dagger+Phaser, Catalyst + Poison Fangs
The maths that I used is extremely crude, but you can just plug estimates into the impact formula which is like (mass * velocity)/impact time. Conji is like, probably around 250 m³, and the density of human flesh is apparently 985 kg/m³, which would make Conji weigh in at about 246250 kg. I have no idea how fast conji is in dead cells and I can't be bothered to find a good way to measure things in meters in dead cells, so let's just say that conji moves as fast as usain bolt, which is about 10m/s. Finally, we can just plug those values. The impact time will be 0.2 seconds, which is what the wiki says the parry window is in dead cells. (246250 * 10)/0.2 = 12312500, which woudl be 12312.5 Kilonewtons. That's like... 615 car crashes?????? That can't be right. My maths got fucked up somewhere man. But if my maths isn't wrong, the beheaded has the ability to cpletely balance out that force. This means that if you were hit by one of the beheaded's parries, you would instantly be hit by the force of 615 cars and promptly pulverised into a cloud of blood. The behaded can raize buildings to the ground with a shield...
@@Salmonwithfeetso, I ran some calculations and approximations based on information we know about the beheaded. So based on the poster for the everyone is here vol.2 we know that the beheaded is 4.6 feet (or simply 4.5 because .6 feet is a half of a foot) tall, and yes it is that because the height of the homunculus is included in-game. Anyway, I found out that the insufferable crypt itself is about 11 beheadeds tall, making it roughly 15.07 meters tall (1.37 is the meter equivalent to 4.6 feet), meaning that conjunctivious is roughly 4 beheadeds tall and 3 beheadeds wide. So using this, I found out that she covers about 71.2m/s^2 per 0.125 nanoseconds, which to put it lightly is fucking BONKERS. I also calculated the circumference of conji, because she is pretty much a circle with some beholder features slapped on, and found it to be roughly 23.57 meters squared. Using the average mass of a human, 62kg, we get 1399kg squared. Plugging these in, we reach a force of about 796,870.4 newtons, or 7968.704 kN. This is the average force of 13 car crashes that are being piledriven into the player if they wiff a parry from a final phase conji charge (she does move at differing speeds depending on how many tentacle phases you've cleared, the speed I calculated is the fastest she goes). The beheaded only parries with an average of 297.29 newtons. Shields would NOT save his ass realistically, but hey, funny gameplay mechanics are funny amirite
The ammount of times I have died to inquisitors and buzzcutters is probably more than 30 times the ammount of times I have died to golems. They might be tough, but at least they're not complete BS.
Sorry dude, but I'm a beginner at this game and this video has no structure at all. You talk WAY TOO FAST and the information you are providing, although it may be helpful, does not get through because of the way you are presenting it.
Time to debunk your debunk 1. It does provide a structure on the video timeline, you could see each subject l 2. You can’t really force him to speak slower if he naturally speaks like that. If you really are having trouble slow down the video using the function UA-cam provided you for cases like this 3.By beginner I hope you don’t means just starting the game, because I think it’s pretty clear that you at least need to know the basic mechanics of the game. Although I can’t change the fact that you disliked it, I can tell you you had no reason to do so and of course there may be minor problems for a relatively small UA-camr, it shouldn’t be enough to dislike it for dumb things like this.
@@ikemakunne7225 Maybe I was a little bit too harsh on my feedback, but I was just getting frustrated with how he was presenting his - to you all at least - helpful information. To talk fast is okay, I myself am a fast talker, but if you want to convey information, talking fast is NOT the way on how to do it for a broader audience. And yes, I am a complete beginner at this game. I downloaded the complete bundle two days ago and cannot play it because it contains the castlevania DLC and that is not out officially. In the meantime I was looking for a beginner friendly guide or some helpful insights. This video just didn't do it for me. I wish the content creater all the best.
But genuinely, I do want to hear what your gripe with my presentation is, apart from how fast I talk of course. I try to make as many infographics as possible, but did those detract from the video? I'm fully willing to listen to what you have to say so as my videos can be more beginner friendly, even if this is a largely 5BC catered guide. I'm actually thinking about making a beginner guide, since terraria is doing a Dead Cells crossover, and Dead Cells is doing a castlevania crossover, and most beginner guides I've found are really bare bones. Any advice is appreciated!
It barely parries rampagers and anything else that dashes. Half the time it just bumps enemies back miserably instead of parrying with the normal timing. Being able to dash with a parry means nothing, especially when you have options like the frontline shield, thunder shield, and rampart.
When you're new, armadillopack helps to ease players into parrying, but this guide is aimed mostly at players at 2BC or above because of the recycling tubes. Armadillopack does have some niche use case scenarios, like using the status shields for their respective status effects, but other survival options are just much better, like soldiers, heart of ice, berserker, and gastro.
Sometimes, its a bit hard to understand what you say but its very interesting

Thanks so very much!!! Extremely helpful for us😂
newer to dead cells, 50 hours 3 bc, good guide despite it sounding like a vile nasty disease-carrying insect flew through into your mouth and you swallowed it halfway through the video, at 14:15 specifically I think I actually audibly heard a tear roll down your face, but I digress.
@@Salmonwithfeet I was pulling your leg, in that clip specifically it sounds like you were about to burst out crying

Just sayin.
Is it just me or did i hear the fungle wastes mysic at 14:40
Ye there is that music in it
DUDE THE SKYLANDERS REFERENCE!!!!!!
Quick question, what's the outfit you're using throughout the video and how do you get it?
Consider unlocking the ice xbow
great video your voice was a bit quiet but i really found it helpful subbed

Hey! I want to know how do you have an overlay showing where are the secrets stuff in walls? I probably miss 8/10 of them every game 😂
Accessibility options.
I play my Oiled Sword how I want.
there is no way this salmon has feet
It's nothing having more damage and not getting hit can't account for; if enemies had more health with malaise I would be scared, but it's just
Damage
Attack speed (which shield can help a great deal with)
Spawn rate (which shields also help with)
Teleport range (redundant)
Aggro range (redundant)
and Elite transformation time (redundant)
I wamt to make a malaise PSA, but Psyechie has already done that.
The secrets thing is an accessibility setting. I have a condition.
This video is yummy
How about you STOP WHISPERING
Please don't add super-loud sounds to your video. Some of us do use headphones, and that sudden voice is really annoying and painful to the ears.
Otherwise great video
I know... Multiple people have brought that up to me and I forgot how to mute the track. It bugs me just as much as it bugs you, as a fellow headphones user.
I never use a shield, i should try to get comfortable using one since everyone says that shields are op
They're glazing. Shields ain't OP. They're pretty damn fun to use though.
@@Salmonwithfeet sooo not using shields at all is completely valid way of playing regardless of Boss cells Lv?
It's valid, but it's in the spirit of dead cells to mix up your playstyle from time to time, no?
@@Salmonwithfeet that's definitely true
Yeah, good vid :) I passed 5bc also long time ago with carabine+hokuto tough those are nerfed now :/
Could do an updated pairing video next :) There are many but those are a year old or so...

@@Salmonwithfeet you better 1 year later?
19:42 genuine question, how did you calculate this? Does it ever say the mass of... anything in dead cells like at all?
Estimates, it's not very precise or anything, it's mostly just a little bit that I did so I didn't think much about the maths of it.
@@Salmonwithfeet ah ok. I was gonna try and calculate the force that conji puts behind her rams, honestly because I thought it'd be funny

Where did you get the feet from?
Kos, or some say, Kosm.
Sorry dude, but I'm a beginner at this game and this video has no structure at all. You talk WAY TOO FAST and the information you are providing, although it may be helpful, does not get through because of the way you are presenting it.
Thanks for the support 👍
Time to debunk your debunk
1. It does provide a structure on the video timeline, you could see each subject l
2. You can’t really force him to speak slower if he naturally speaks like that. If you really are having trouble slow down the video using the function UA-cam provided you for cases like this
3.By beginner I hope you don’t means just starting the game, because I think it’s pretty clear that you at least need to know the basic mechanics of the game.
Although I can’t change the fact that you disliked it, I can tell you you had no reason to do so and of course there may be minor problems for a relatively small UA-camr, it shouldn’t be enough to dislike it for dumb things like this.
@@Luexks Okay, I don't want to be mean, so I removed my thumbs down.

Assault shield is the goat why does everyone hate it?
It barely parries rampagers and anything else that dashes. Half the time it just bumps enemies back miserably instead of parrying with the normal timing. Being able to dash with a parry means nothing, especially when you have options like the frontline shield, thunder shield, and rampart.
@@Salmonwithfeet yeah the only way I found it being useful is either speed running or pushing enemies into a wall to crit with the impaler.
I did mention that in the video, and it also has synergy with the spartans, but only to a limited extent.

Armadilopack has helped me alot
When you're new, armadillopack helps to ease players into parrying, but this guide is aimed mostly at players at 2BC or above because of the recycling tubes.
Armadillopack does have some niche use case scenarios, like using the status shields for their respective status effects, but other survival options are just much better, like soldiers, heart of ice, berserker, and gastro.
