The more I learn about SC2, the more I appreciate that PiG's go-to for easy going Terran are 2 base all-in variants. Because Terrans can target 54-60 workers on 3-5 base production quite comfortably, but have to jump larger hurdles to secure 3 base; being able to get comfy with a 2 base all-in and then learn to transition out makes sense for getting the most of Terran's faction specific abilities to target 45 workers on 2 base. Thus, making the muscle memory for pushing into 60+ worker setups and large CC counts easier to wrap our heads around.
Yeah I find when players jump straight to 3-base play they don't focus on their army much at all because they're drowning in macro tasks and even when their macro gets good their micro just lags sooo far behind. I think it's nice to focus a bit harder on those 2-base pushes to get comfy, then we add that 3rd CC, 2nd ebay + armoury transition a bit earlier on and it should feel really smooth
@@PiGCoachingi remember when i first started playing starcraft competetive. Back when Byun was the champ. Got to platinum with marine drops. Hi Pig, thanks for these vids. Very informative. A bit of advice/request (if I'm not the only one thinking this): the in-game music is very loud and after watching the video for a while, listening to the in-game sounds and also you explaining stuff the music is a little bit too much... it gives me headache after a bit and i need to take breaks from watching these videos. I don't know if i am the only one thinking this this, but maybe, for the educational videos, the music should be off or at a lower volume? Just a thought, love your content. P.s. i wanna get out of gold, aaargh!!!
So I started playing a few days ago and had some wins with the build (thanks) but what's the deal with mmr? I think it's going up way too fast: in my profile summary it says gold tier 1 (my league/division) and beneath it it says plat 1 (with a progress bar) and beneath it my mmr says 2999. Is this supposed to be gold mmr or plat? Cuz I got a few games against plat and even diamond players and I got beat around like nothing, so I'm guessing my mmr is screwed up or something. I'm 11-7 win to loss so I don't know why it's so high. Also can you go over a few basic next steps after the marine attack fails, like should I switch to starports and battlecruisers or thors and rush 3/4 bases? (am especially getting my ass kicked by air units and lurkers... bannelings too but I'm still trying to work on that spread units you showed I just can't get a lot of practice at it)
This has pretty accurate on where the boundaries are: burnysc2.github.io/MMR-Ranges/ For your first 25 games it has a weird flexible algorithm where each win/loss will give you a massive MMR change as it quickly tries to find where you belong on the ladder. Don't stress too much over it as it'll find you the correct level opponents once you've played 10+ games. 11-7 is an awesome start so you probably belong somewhere around gold or maybe even plat already. Just benchmark your push in the lower leagues and keep working on executing your earlygame and first push better, but over the next few videos I'll start showing a lot more of what you can do to extend your position in the game. Most importantly 2 more bases and 2nd ebay + armoury will give you some longevity by extending your income and keeping your upgrades up.
I highly doubt that you will ever see this, but why not get upgrades faster are they just not worth it? Are they too expensive? I’m fairly new to StarCraft, and your vids are very helpful to me ty and GLHF!!
Just not as high priority as getting down these other fundamentals. A lot of these lower level guides there's things that are excluded purely for simplicity so we can focus on doing what we do WELL, then add that other stuff later. That being said since it is a 2-base push, even though it's a slower one, we'd at most only get a single attack upgrade doing a build like this at GM level. In general the longer a game goes the more upgrades give value
We're doing a much more committed 2-base attack. One engineering bay is enough. You only start a second engineering bay and armoury along with extra bases when going to 3 base and ahead. For a 2-base play often just +1 weapons, MAYBE 1-1 off a single ebay is plenty
Bigger investment, more payoff if you're playing a macro game and plan on going 4+ bases, 2-2 and then 3-3. But for a simple 2-base push it's not worth the investment
The initial ladder placement in SCII is kinda bonkers. Im just starting learning how to play the damn game, and there was 5 placement matches. I won one game by just doing this build very slowly and very unoptimized and then attack move my army to their base. I mean im bad at this game. Just started learning. It placed me in master rank 3. 2500mmr. I mean ok, i guess. How long i now have to play against much better players, until i drop to bronze/silver or so. Would like to try to climb up from there.
There's a common ranking bug some players get that displays the wrong league. 2500MMR puts you in gold 2? I believe, check this site for the actual league ranges: burnysc2.github.io/MMR-Ranges/ - even with the bug you'll still play players near your MMR which should be actual good matches
Ok. Thanks for answering. And yeah. The games have been all right. And once more, thanks for all the bronze to GM series. They are very helpfull. @@PiGCoaching
1:09:20 80 kill siege tank. I refuse to believe that this Zerg wasn't TRYING to throw the game. Literally could have A moved on the minimap at your main base and won but instead he threw 12 zerglings here, 20 zerglings there, move commanded them into a tank with 8 hp, got into melee, and then ran away... I haven't seen yet who wins the match but at this rate it's going to be Pig because the Zerg wants him to win, no other reason. Edit: Maybe in retrospect he knew he was so far ahead he couldn't lose so he wanted Pig to have more opportunity to teach. I had to remind myself of that while watching the game.. so many moments of "WHY!?!?" turn into "oh, just throwing units away for fun, cool".
Wouldn't be the first time a Starcraft player makes imperfect decisions, especially in silver league. That being said you never know how someone will react to being on stream, sometimes they get nervous/excited and play different. And in this case may have been screwing around a little bit, or 100% sweatily trying to finish the game and fumbling really hard. Difficult to say
@@PiGCoachingI did it! About 7:40 stim + army. I lost because I didn't scout and I got my army massacred outside my base against a plat zerg. Lesson learned, scout and leave some tanks sieged until I know where their army is 😅

Every single B2GM streamer thinks “all you need to do to get out of bronze is X. All you need to do to get out of silver is X.” Etc etc. when I reality the only thing separating the leagues is the persons ability to move their mouse and click with accuracy. Minerals: 4k
Me: oh no
GOAL for next game. Stim started and Under 3500 minerals wheen going to attack :D :D
@@PiGCoachingI did it! About 7:40 stim + army.
I lost because I didn't scout and I got my army massacred outside my base against a plat zerg.
Lesson learned, scout and leave some tanks sieged until I know where their army is 😅
Lol, I've tested this build and it works until plat-diamond league 😂

2:42:51 SC2 is a strange game. The only way to win every time is not to play.
How about a nice game of co-op?
I keep running into guys turteling with siege tanks and then attack with bcs
same... annoying strat -.- but if you macro well, prevent them from taking hidden expansions and get a ton of production, it's free wins for you after a while. glhf
Next video please 😊
Just got back from an event overseas, next ones coming up ASAP :)

Every single B2GM streamer thinks “all you need to do to get out of bronze is X. All you need to do to get out of silver is X.” Etc etc. when I reality the only thing separating the leagues is the persons ability to move their mouse and click with accuracy. Speed and apm is what wins games. Not cloning, shift de-selecting, not build orders. None of it. Being someone who can move their mouse faster than you will always be ahead of you
All of those good mechanics allow you to get more done with less clicks and less mouse movement
