Hey all! There's a video for the mech part I did before this ua-cam.com/video/80HWHQniFCM/v-deo.html , but I made it unlisted as I feel like it wasn't a "clean" teaching of how to mech like this episode was. Cheers for watching!
At 2:52:38 how did you make 2 refineries almost at once in a split second like that? I've seen you do this multiple times and I don't understand how you do it. Maybe I've missed something somewhere?
@@finneganmcbride6224 dang ok I thought there was maybe a hotkey use I never knew, like that backspace trick to cycle between bases for instance. I learned that only after many years of playing.
Ive been practicing the first 3 episodes for the past couple months. I've made it to about 3300 on diamond, I was super excited about this episode to expand my playstyle. I know its been out a while but everyone learns at a different pace and I implore everyone to slow down and soak as much as in as possible because it makes sc2 so much more fun. Don't make the mistake that I've made and skip the unlisted video in the document.
Thank you so much for this tutorial, PiG! Just to give you some perspective on HOW good are you in teaching: Time-based (slow), 40 years old (even slower) gamer here. Always was struggling with real-time strategies, and - naturally - not a big fan of multiplayer. Lost my first 6 matches (the league and tier placement ones), then I found your guide. Not a single loss since, already Gold 3. WOW! :D
Congrats mate! Remember that losing is a part of the game though, so while winning feels fantastic right now you will eventually lose some when you reach players who are of similar skill. And that's NOT a bad thing. The most important thing is to enjoy playing!
I think witnter and Vibe B2GM is great if your a first timer and need a slower paced guide... PIG teaches all the little things that they don't, all the tips and tricks. Ive learned a lot from both but Pig has taught me different builds and good reactions to certain army types.
dude i watched your video 2 days ago and started practicing diligently the last 10 matches, I am really shocked that I managed to move from silver to gold, i have never been able to move division, always atrocious in versus games, always falling behind resources, building, and amassing an army, let alone have the time to harass an enemy base, you are really good at teaching the basics, kudos to you my dude
Thanks Pig I really have been enjoying playing Mech lately and this video helped a lot! The Hellion Lib poke at 4:30 is so strong to open with too. I'll be practicing this for a while
The network of tanks, widow mines, and liberators to fight the stalkers reminds of pawns in chess. Where you stagger them so whatever kills the forward pawn the rear one can kill it.
The "teach a man to fish" proverb is not a bible verse 😆 but thank you for all the info. Love the fact that you don't handhold. Because it teaches ppl to learn the game and gain confidence rather than copying, which i have a tendancy to do. I have gone from silver 2 to gold 3 watching this series. I am doing the same 2 builds over and over to work on my macro cycles before trying new build orders. Thanks pig!!
Wow you really ticked off this mimori guy haha, nice one pig! Love these video series, picked up the game again and have learnt so much watching your vids.
I think in Beefi's defence game 4, he had just scanned your starport with tech lab. He might have thought banshees or BC so he built turrets, but based on the timing, they look to be based on his scan of your starport.
@PiG Coaching : Could you not suggest Microsoft the following change: Supply block = production runs through but is not completed. The moment the supply block is fixed pop for it the unit out. Is in the Coop partly also so.
Well pure rax with out add-ons can build 3 marines at the time 1st reaper come(from rax in main base) and 2÷if its proxy rax. Coz marines spawn 18s vs reapers 45s! So its 2marines 36s + 9 and ~10s of reapers rush distance.
The reactor first 2 base all-in and macro transition have been working well so far in TvT and TvP, I need to get this mech build down for TvZ which is my weakest matchup
Well, I got this far. I was pushing into Platinum, and suddenly I was running into the most aggressive, weird openings, and dropped a cool 400 MMR in the space of a day. I'm not exaggerating when I say every single TvT game I've had since then has been some kind of proxy Reaper opening, and my poor skills just can't handle it. Yet...
Around Plat/Diamond is when most people hit that skill ceiling and it takes a lot more practice to push through. Nothing to be disheartened about. If you want to put in the work, know that it will pay off eventually. But if you don't have the time or inclination, that's okay too. Gotta have fun at the end of the day!
OK i took a 20min break to watch some Harlem Globetrotters videos, but i'm back! also weird side note: One of our high school teachers played on the team the Globetrotters always played, The Washington Generals.
What should I do about being scared to push out in TvZ ? I Float my third base down, do my first marine tank medivac push (that gets crushed by some ling/bane) and then keep macroing, but it feels like by the time I move out with my next huge army, that the Zerg is already on 5 bases with a high tech army and creep the whole way to my side of the map. I simply don’t know how to defend my bases when they have infinite map vision, creep that I can’t engage on, and Changelings/ovies that see everything I do. Hopefully I’ll learn to use this mech build bc I can’t stop my marines from just getting stomped by banes.
2:17:57 if only the hotkey wasn't just "select all army" but also had the alternative "select all army not in a control group" like an idle army button
I feel like there’s a whole video I missed but I don’t see it in the list…. Previous vid had us just getting in to plat3 from gold using MMM and 3 factory tanks. Start of this one has us already in plat2 doing a completely different opening game build. Explanations have been so thorough up to this point so this is either a big break from how the series has gone and I’m supposed to catch up by reading the document or I’ve definitely missed a video somehow… can anyone help?
My mmr is the same as the Protoss that pig beat lol. Looks like this is the video for me. Got the macro part almost down, but my micro is horrid. I’m losing my entire army before I can do much
So Scans > Vikings? If my opponent goes Tanks+Vikings- should I just pump more tanks than him? But what if I run out of scans? Then he will have vision with his Vikings and I won't
Is ther a part 3.5 Missing? isnt this the first Part where the mech BO is shown? love the series and comeing back to SCII after a long time, very helpful!!
Thanks so much for the content. If I wanted to keep playing bio through plat league, should I skip to diamond and try those builds or stick to the gold build?
You can't be serious people complain the gameplay is too fast. The simulated slow-mode and the pain it clearly causes you is far worse to endure.... just play fast. It proves the build works AND shows a goal to emulate at the same time. Time stamps for build points, times you can afford to micro, etc. I don't think crybabies saying pretend you suck deserve attention.
Is there a reason for mech in plat? Not against it, it’s trying to understand from a long term perspective since he goes back to bio in diamond. Is it so that you have this sort of build for when you feel it’s best to use? Cheers this series has been great!
Yoyo just to show variety is all. You could absolutely stick with the previous build and then skip right to diamond. I just wanted to show some fundamental mech stuff to give the players that prefer mech some more options
I have a question, recently started playing SC2 with a friend, I play terran he plays prottos, how do I aproach to win with him just turttling and going all late game units?
Leapfrog tanks or if he is going full Golden Armada/fliers spend your gas on Thors instead. Tanks outrange the deathball and Thors naturally counter or goes even vs the air comp. You just keep a ready trigger on the scans if the start massing tempests or disruptors as it is a lack of vision that is the issue with the trades.
Cheese only applies to the opponent. One could never look at themselves and ask themselves if they are a cheesy fuck and projecting while their neckbeard is sweating all over their t-shirt they have worn for 2 weeks straight.

He wasn't cheesing either he just went mass blink stalkers off two base
mimori in game 3 is also the guy in gold which complained about the desperation move

When I try this build they just go air and neither tanks nor helions shoot up. Cyclones fuck up the production.

He said to gather shift click the scv that was building the refinery. What does that do?
