- Featured is a 27-minute Arena bullet tournament. In each of my games I attempt, when possible, to use the Fishing Pole Trap. The Fishing Pole Trap, in its basic form, involves hooking a knight to a rook pawn in the hopes of some successful attack against the opponent’s h2 or h7 square next to the enemy king.
I'm a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly. Jerry and the fishing pole is the reason I got into chess years ago. My account is even referenced to H2!
I started learning chess about 10 years ago thanks largely to your videos, and back in the chess cube days the default plan was often the fishing pole. I still open with the Sicilian as black and always keep an eye on H2.
One of the things I've learned from this video is that you are much better at chess than me
watching you play is way more entertaining than other creators even gms and i think i would like longer games even better because you describing your ideas is super insightful

Gained a casual 300 rating points all within a couple years. All while getting older while the rating competition favors younger players. His understanding of the game is quite incredible

It’s not that crazy for a 2200+ rated player who has played hundred if not thousands of games to see a short mating pattern there.

im a huge fan of jerry so i don't mean this as any disrespect or to throw any shade, but he's 2900 bullet? i know he's a NM and I know rating can fluctuate between formats, but from what I've seen there seems to be a relatively consistent range of ratings that correspond with the player's classical strength with some outliers of course, but isn't 2900 really high for his strength? is jerry just really good at bullet?
From what I know his NM title is a bit of a relic as he hasn’t played competitively over the board in many years. He’s probably more like an IM these days, and he’s certainly that level when it comes to bullet and blitz.
@@spinnact He's stronger than a lot of GMs at bullet.
Most novices underestimate the power of his fishing poles. He's 2200 but has +700 fishing poles.
I'm about NM strength and my bullet rating is 2400, which is probably more normal. But I'm slow and Jerry is fast. And I mean really fast.
There's also been some inflation on Lichess lately.
