    Please do something on square theory- key squares and the principals behind those concepts . I think a lot of viewers would be interested.
    Keep up the great content and get in contact with Levy or Eric Rosen even Chessbrahs and do a collab. I think you will find it will propel the channel to even further heights .

    Thanks Nelson! I have seen other videos on the fishing pole trap but never heard such a clear explanation as in your video. I never understood how to assess the risk from either side based upon the Queen's access to the h file. Much appreciated!

    I tried the fishing pole trap today while playing the caro khan and it worked! You can take these concepts such as the fishing pole trap and use it in other openings. Same goes for the damiano trap and the legal trap too, it doesn't matter. It's not as easy with black since white is a move ahead, but if they play a slow move, bam! You take advantage of it right away and punish them

    I remember playing this with other openings like four knights and blundering the knight, but the opponent still moves his knight and I checkmate him the same way.

    Thanks for another great video! 🧡Very clear explanation. Am blown away.
    I would like to ask if it is possible to set the Fishing Pole trap with reversed colors i.e. White traps Black with Ng5 -> ...h6 -> h4. Could you give an example where this is feasible? The engine doesn't seem to like White's Ng5.

    I used the fishing pole trap concept after castling queen side as black against a white kingside castle. I used two rooks instead and it worked marvelously to disrupt his game. He lost shortly thereafter.

    If you are going to talk about simple things that can go wrong here at least mention that if the other knight can move to f1 via d2 that white can take on g4, and that black has to be careful with long castle because white might take on g4 with check. im pretty sure there is another major mistake that ive seen alot of people make in this opening as black, but i dont remember wich.

    This trap is what I did to break 1300 on chess.com. Most players on that level fall in that trap. Upon reaching 1400, it no longer helped me to advance so I stopped using it. I then tried a different opening, the center game Hall Variation, not on the list of top openings but I like its simplicity. Now at 1600, it's not working anymore. Guess I need to learn another opening.

    • @anthonyulloa4408
      @anthonyulloa4408 2 роки тому

      What openings were you playing to break 1,000 to 1,100?

    • @williamangelogonzales148
      @williamangelogonzales148 2 роки тому

      I use random openings when I was 1000, but I remember using a sneaky move with the bishop. If I'm white, I place my bishop in a2, just in front of the rook. That bishop is not very useful in the middle game, but after the dust settles, the opponent will forget about that hiding bishop that points directly to his castled king. When my rating started to increase, this technique no longer worked, because the opponent always trades with that hiding bishop.

      @@williamangelogonzales148 check out the Ponziani opening. It had some deadly trap where even a 2000 was susceptible to it for games I’ve had. I’m currently on 1800.
      For black, I tend to play different variations of the Caro-Kann or the Indian depending on what white plays.

    • @Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol

      You should learn openings, that come off as natural for you and preferably start quickly (sutch as Scandinavian defense starts at move 1) and don't have much complicated theory (no grünfeld or ruy lopez). If I were to recommend something it would be ponziani opening for white, french defense against e4 (if you go this path definitely watch Levy's vid on the Rosmann french to avoid winawer/tarash theory) and stonewall dutch against everything else. If you feel a little more hypermodern I love openings that fiancetto the queenside bishop on the first two moves (namely Larsen's opening Owen's defense and english defence) since middlegame plans are quite clear and grabbing space on the queenside is (dare I say) more natural than with the d4 c4 openings. I actually don't recommend the london system to new players, because yes, you have survived the opening but now you need to take advantage of VERY subtle weaknesses in the middlegame. In that regard I actually think zuckerot/colle system is WAY better for new players (and more interesting for experienced ones in my opinion) because of more clear middlegame plans and (when you get experience) offers you a wide variety of sacrifice opportunities to open up an attack. I can provide you with some more opening names for new players so that you can check and see which one you like. After all, it's all about you feeling comfortable in the position, even if opening is dubious.
      And here is where I recommend the almighty Haloween Gambit YOU CAN'T STOP ME!

    So given the choice to bait your fishing pole with a knight or Bishop to open up the h file, they can arise out of the Spanish opening Berlin variation or a6 morphy variation. which version is higher probability? Which variation has a higher success rate for this trap to work? Baiting on g4 with N or B?

    Is it ever a good option to sacrifice a bishop or knight. The lower level attacking pieces. To open up a defensive pawn wall ? lose value, gain territory. The balance of importance swings sometimes. If you could do a strategy video, that would be great.

      maybe you didnt understand what I was trying to say
      if white moves rook to the right then queen takes kinght then king moves to the right where the rook was then queen goes up and checks but then king goes down to clear square and black queen needs to go back down if it doesnt want to be taken by the rook 😌

    • @jrviade85
      @jrviade85 2 роки тому

      if instead of going down the queen takes that pawn right below it will check the king again but then king can just keep going down, I know this is not a good idea but the point in this part of the video was that the king had no escape
