I'm a cyclist and I'd say some of your clips don't reflect well on your cycling ability. You seem quite aggressive, almost as if you are deliberately trying to create a situation. You don't seem to make allowances for some car drivers who are simply trying to make their way in busy traffic.
24sec: The van driver is sticking to the road. You can see the central reseravtion on his right. It's your cycle path that has run out and you insisted on riding alongside the van rather than holding back.
1:18sec: The car on the right had been courtious enough to allow the other car to turn to his right. You failed to notice and nearly hit the car. It's not a good idea to simply ride along a cycle path and think that you can charge ahead wihout being considerate to others and being road aware.
1:25 Another example of a total lack of awareness and general courtesy by a cyclist. A car on the right had clearly held back to allow the vehicle on the left to join the lane, whilst the cylist just chose to charge along on the cycle path without showing the same level of kindness.
2:02: Same again. It was clear that the traffic had stopped to allow the vehicle on the left out, but you just wanted to make a point so you charged ahead, right up to the car then blamed him for pulling out. You totally saw the situation but you forced the issue, when you could gave just been polite about it and let the car out. He might have been waiting there for 5 mins already, but no, you weren't letting him out without cycling up to his door and calling him a 'wa&^*£r'
    2:20: You're going through a red light.
2:30: The van is turning left, yet you charge up the cycle lane like you just want to make an issue. The cyclist in the blue shorts did what I would have done. He slowed right down to let the van though. But that's not how you like to operate is it?
2:45 Another one where you just don't want to allow drivers to turn into a side road, when it's clear that another driver has been kind enough to yeild.
3:20. I bet you liiked making an example of the police. But again, they were being let out by another vehicle, which you just refused to acknowlege. It seems to be a recurring tactic.
3:43: What on earth are you doing riding between two other cyclists on the cycle lane, putting both of them at risk like that. So dangerous to split them in that way, you literally forced one out of the cycle lane, just so that you could almost crash into the van, so you could add it to your UA-cam channel.
3:53: Ok so the lorry was a little in your lane, but give the guy a break. It's a wide vehicle. So what do you do. You don't wait behind him. No. You ride on the path... Illegal. Then proceed to ride straight through the red light that the lorry was waiting at.
5:41. Give the guy a break. You come out of nowhere and you think the guy crossing the road is at fault. You have a duty to look out for other people and anticipate situation but you just look like someone who is out to create issues.
I think you have anger issues.

Oh F off, when you joined the road at a right angle that guy was clearly looking AT THE TRAFFIC, as he should, and couldn't have had any idea you were flying in off the pavement behind him. At 5:38 you come up to the road at a right angle. AT 5:40 you can clearly see the guy checking the traffic. There's no reason for him to look behind him for you coming at speed. The angle of the cycle lane and road is unusual so you have to expect this and SLOW DOWN and stay off the bell. Calm down, and ride for the situation.

  • @shotkiev4246
    @shotkiev4246 2 роки тому +24

Ah so many issues in this video...
Your riding style around London is horrible. I couldn't care if you've cycled all around the world, but that is something else.
4:00 what's the issue? You're tailgating a bus that is approaching a bus stop, do you want him to stop in a lane of traffic to let you undertake him so he can go into his bus stop? Cop on.
2:00 the Audi clearly let the driver in the Jeep/SUV out and it was obvious that he/she was creeping out way before-hand. To me that would be an instant hazard to slow down and just wait. You rush into everything.
2:26 yes, the van was going to block the cycle lane, as to which part of the cycle is shared with vehicles as it has dashed lines, and before you complain about that, when a car is wanting to turn right in a two way traffic road, is it not allowed to come to a full stop and block all the traffic BEHIND them as they wait for oncoming traffic to pass? You were behind this indicating van, you should've stopped like the other cyclist there. [Edit - You're also heavily in the blind spot of this van, which should give you a bigger reason to stop]
3:48 you went up onto the pavement to go through a red light, illegal. Doesn't take a genius to grasp that.
6:09 and finally, maybe a late indication by the bus, but just before you continue cycling up the inside of this bus, you can see the indicator, and that was shown while you were fully behind the vehicle. And that is the first thing I noticed on that clip, so therefore, I clearly have more common sense and know where to be looking more than you do at some times. You continued to cycle up the buses inside even after this hazard?
The best road users are ones that solve other peoples problems, not create them into bigger ones. You should really teach yourself a lesson, or maybe it'll be done for you at some stage if you keep cycling this way.

In a way, I agree, but the problem is that whenever you have to share roads with people driving as fast as a lot of them do in cars, the greater the speed difference between you as a cyclist and a car increases the risk of either not being spotted or getting seriously hit by one.
So, as much as some people would like it to not be a competition, it unfortunately becomes that type of a situation when there's so much going on at the same time on a road that sees so much faster traffic along with cyclists.

I think they should have segregated sections where pedestrians can walk on the sides of the road instead.
They could even raise that area a few inches to provide additional protection.

100% incorrect. Hand in your licence if you drive. The person cycling thinks that people should respect priorit rules? Shocker! It doesn't matter is the police car got there first. That's not how junctions work. The driver gives way to all traffic on the main road, including the cycle track. Since they blocked the cycle track they failed to give way. Signalling doesn't give you priority either. If you have to change lanes you give way to the traffic on the other lane, you don't just cross it. Not your priority.
I will give you tailgating though.
To claim it is the cyclist's fault because he didn't accept the selfish driving is laughable. Anyway, he did accept it because he mitigated the driver's actions and wasn't in a collision. Do you have eyes?

Cyclist also have to give consideration for other users as well otherwise it will be impossible for motor vehicles and cyclist to be on the same road.
There is also a problem where part of the road is just turned into a cycle lane without changing the width of the road a it just means the road is too narrow for cars and bikes to be side by side

It is dangerous and stupid - you can see the vehicle clearly turning left ; he cannot see you - so YOU MUST STOP . Bad cycling . Oh and Red light jump seconds before , and right in front of the police .
You do realise that any of those pedestrians crossing the cycle lane when you ride aggressively towards them are allowed to cross , just as they are allowed to cross the road , and can actually put their hand up and order you to stop .
Now , blowing a pea whistle at people on crossings , that is sinking to a new low of aggression and rudeness ; just as bad as would be a car driver who sounded his own at crossing pedestrians , even with the lights against them . One of these times something will happen and that whistle will go down your throat - you aren't the royal protection group ( their whistles are built into their helmets and they blow through a tube which can't be swallowed ) .

I cycle in central London and most often the biggest danger is other cyclists. So many delivery riders now, who have no idea how to use the road. In fact, I would say it is more and more cyclists who have never learnt how to drive and so have not developed road awareness is what is causing so many bike accidents these days.
Who next? The Strava crowd, trying to beat their best times and so speed is the most important thing for them, not looking out for or caring about others.
Then we have the Santander bikes, so many who ride them can hardly ride a bike at all and seem oblivious to what is going on around them. As for lane discipline................
Cyclists who have earphones in the entire time, it makes you much less aware of what is going on around you.
I ride the CS3 a lot, along Embankment, the tourists who randomly step out in front of you.
I'm not perfect, I make mistakes on my bike sometimes, but I try to be constantly aware of what is going on around me and anticipating problems before they happen.
As long as you don't go up the inside of lorries and busses etc at turns or try to squeeze through a crazy narrow gap in the road when traffic is moving and you go with the flow while having your eyes and ears open, cycling in London is ok actually, I enjoy it.

I've only cycled central London a couple of times and it's utter dog shit.
The so called superhighway is literally designed in such a way to increase conflict.
Last time i was there 5 years ago i cycled from Greenwich to Kings Cross, this was a Sunday and still it was f.king awful.
I've ridden in a mid sized city since i was a kid but that was when 22% of all work journeys were by bike, even now 40 years on modal share is approx 6%. But compared to London its massively less dangerous and vastly easier to make progress.
London is a failure as a whole, loads of good people but far too many who don't give a shit about what they do having a negative effect on others.

That was in Leytonstone and there is not a red light for the cyclists as the cycle lane goes straight ahead as the traffic is turning right.
The path mount was to join the cycle lane.

The sound of the bell seems to be much more effective than electronic or siren type audible warnings. Perhaps it’s because pedestrians understand it instinctively.

I swear if I were 40 years younger (oh shit that many) and with my attitude I’d be riding a mountain bike and anyone who pulled out onto the cycle lane and stopped I’d be straight over there bonnet and no looking back. Over the years I’ve been a cyclist and motorcyclist and I understand you have to push to keep your space on the road. Everyone gets to die but only some of us get to live.

Cycling anywhere in UK is dangerous. Be the tight roads, the unlit rural country lanes, the sharp turns and blind corner spots which are everywhere, the gormless dumb drivers that get too close or cant judge distance. This is coming from someone that's been cycling all my life, daily for years. Been hit twice and had a billion close calls.

U obviously live in Whitechapel area. I do have to say some of you cyclists in that area act like you dont have breaks. When coming out of the back rd onto the main rd Infront of the mosque, if us drivers dont edge forward we will never get out because of so many cyclist, so when it empty we edge forward. Not our fault we are waiting to merge fully into the lane. (Whitechapel rd)

Crazy planning from London Councils. The cycle lanes in London are so dangerous. It was better when we shared the roads, you did not have drivers just turning into the cycle lanes, or flashing cars to go when cyclists are in the cycle lane.
Glad I retired to Spain and do not have to do it any more. Though Cycling is a lot more enjoyable than the Central Line.
