London Cyclists Compilation

- This is a compilation of cyclists in London. A few near misses, naughty people, but not major incidents. Have been collecting these videos over a few months, always too busy to do the editing, but I think this compilation is worth uploading.
By the way the thumbnail is not composed in Photoshop or anything like that. I just marked with a red circle the crazy road positioning everyone was in at that part of the footage.
Thanks for posting. I can now see why bus and heavy vehicle drivers get pissed off with cyclists.
I'm glad I managed to finally clarify that one for you.
LONDON ROADS ARE SOOOOO TINY THE LOOK MORE LIKE FOOTPATH'S
A&E won't kiss it better
1:07 Cyclist turns right without indicating? It's technically straight on as there was not junction. No need to indicate
+atkolad this guy think they're driving a car or something LOL
+atkolad Whilst I don't agree with the uploader's riding either, what he clearly meant was the cyclist moved to the right without shoulder checking. Indicating isn't necessary, but the same applies to a motorcycle; if you're going to veer suddenly left or right, you need to check first. However like I said, I don't like the way the uploader rides. He passes people way too close, he could have given her way more room before overtaking.
Will Davis cyclists are unstable and will go around obstacles and hazards in the road. No training means you could be approaching a learner and not know it
awhatzable Well you should indicate on a bike when you are turning but not on a simple surved street only at intersections and so on
Forever Computing Ikr sorry for late reply. I just think its baffling that cyclists hate being passed closely but they're all too happy to do it to other cyclists and vehicles.
I used to cycle to work back in 2000, it was pretty simple back then - Keep left. Now it just seems like cyclist are all over the damned place.
Nope, I was doing it correctly.
***** agree, last time i use a car and i had this cyclist behind me who was going left and right. it was specially annoying when i had an obstacle infront of me and had to check every mirror and corner where that guy was.
3:05 part is just crazy. why not stay behind the bus?
+Jay Taylor Yes, my father teach me how to cycle in the road, was simple: Keep left
***** Yeah, today it's hard cycle in big cities for assholes in the road.
+Harry M Idiots are not restricted to cars, plenty of assholes on bikes, motorcycles, cars, buses, trucks etc etc.
1.07 "cyclist turns right...without indicating"
She followed a bend, no need to indicate on a bend.
+Wuthie Well the cyclist should've left a car wide gap whilst overtaking.
+Wuthie Well the cyclist should've left a car wide gap whilst overtaking.
+Mycll d.D I was going to post the same, it's the same piece of road and there are no other alternative routes so no need to signal.
Suggestion for cycle accessory manufacturers: flashing indicators for bicycles. Like motorcycles have. It would make it easier to signal a manouvre without having to stick an arm out. Powered by batteries like lights. Shouldn't be difficult.
LONDON ROADS ARE SOOOOO TINY THE LOOK MORE LIKE FOOTPATH'S
1:07 no need to indicate if that's the only way to go
"Cyclist passing very close to other, leisurely riding cyclist, with plenty of spare room on the right side, whilst criticizing her for turning right at the corner."
How dare she follow the bend of the road 😂😂
You were aware of the bus coming up the side of you! Because you looked to your right, you can see your self catching the slower cyclist so you decide to overtake the slower cyclist as the bus was coming up your right ,, you should go and study the Highway Code mate! Bus did nothing wrong the only impatient person was you!
Silvio Diego you seem to be a pretty sensible cyclist.
Some of those people on the tail of the bus are asking for trouble, fair enough if they all stuik to one side, but the bus driver has to constantly make sure he isn't squashing bikes from both sides whilst trying to concentrate on what's in front of them.
Yes they do, as anyone driving a 10 ton bus should have to
Driving such a huge bus in a city's traffic is a very hard job, because the driver has to have his eyes everywhere - and unfortunately cyclist with these manners make it even harder :-(
I hope, my english is sufficient to make my point clear...
yeah i thought that was insane how they were getting so close
fyi the bus wasn't impatient you overtook dangerously
turns right with no shoulder check… on a road that only goes right. I get so mad at cars that do not use their turning signals in the same situation…. damn other people.
Well, the main conclusion is that London is not the perfect place for cyclist!
+aloui Mohamed habib
That about sums London up, so the most logical answer is its not worth the risk, but the knobs at city hall seem intent that rather than get the cyclist off the road because it's just too dangerous , no, we should get cars and lorries off the road and encourage more people to cycle . So when the cyclist gets to their office and there's milk for tea and no bread for toast, and all the cafes don't have no eggs milk bread , they won't have their breakfasts ,. Lorries are crucial for any city to keep the economy moving ,. What the fuck does a cyclist contribute ? And as for pollution what's best ? 1 bus of 50 people or 50 cyclist running around like gnats
Mark C I think you lack the basic understanding here. More cyclists in DEDICATED bike lanes means less people in cars. Less people in cars makes it easier and quicker for deliveries to arrive. Its a relative.
In response to your question a diesel bus carrying 50 people is way dirtier than 50 cyclists.
An electric bus however... That's a different story...
Mark C I agree buses and trucks are the most important but one cyclists takes up a lot less space to a 1 ton car so it would actually help
Cyclists are not perfect in London
1:05 - hey buddy have you got a car licence? I hope not.
She is not turning right she is following the road round and she does not need to indicate or shoulder check.
following the road around is fine. but if you notice after I´m overtaking her and she just came on top of me, she was going towards the pavement probably to stop... do you have a license mate... you should always indicate and check behind you before going left or right.
Silvio Diego You are off your head. She came on top of YOU? You shot up behind her and she was so busy checking out WTF you were up to that she wobbled a bit. She is clearly unsure of your intentions and no wonder with you being so bloody close you passed her within INCHES - she is clearly NOT stopping at the kerb.
To repeat as you seem to not quite get this. SHE DOES NOT TURN! SHE FOLLOWS THE ROAD AROUND! There is ZERO need for her to check behind because she is not moving out of lane or across her lane unexpectedly.
makeminea99 I agree with you, she was in the right her. You were wrong to fly up and almost hit her.
Plus i notice that you didn't check behind you either, your helmet cam shows what you're looking at and you didn't once look around to check that an overtake was safe.
joshmcculloch09 I think you got a fair point saying that I didn't do a shoulder check either... I think I should have over taken her with a lot more space, instead I chose not to look and do a close pass which it didn't go too well as she suddenly swerved into me...
Silvio Diego Cool man, i just think that lots of cyclists, me TOTALLY included, get caught up in the moment. Kinda overlooking how they themselves could have behaved differently to prevent it. Blaming other people first instead of being like "hey maybe next time i should be cycling a little slower round that corner" or whatever. You know what i mean?
Dude 1:06 .. the road turns right anyway. She didn't need to indicate. A shoulder check is recommended because u fortunately come people will try and overtake on a damn narrow bend like that... the person whose perspective the video was shot.
Jeez if I cycled in London I'd be dead in the first 5 minutes xD
+11thDoctor's Companion possible... but what's the alternative? taking public transport is a slow and painful death.
+11thDoctor's Companion If riding in london were a woman, I'd say she looks a bag of Nails. I'm from Brisbane, we have bikeways, and some better (not many) than Netherlands cities.. Built for speed : )
11thDoctor's Companion same
im going to get cams for my car to cover myself for when a cyclist crosses a red and rides in front of me. its so common now. its rediculious.
1:10 the woman did nothing wrong, there was no need to signal & she took primary road position, as it was narrow i would say your mistake for not allowing her more room and not enough forward planning to sit at a red light.
fine! but I suspect she had no insurance.
definitely no insurance or road tax lol
Exactly. She wasn't turning right, she was following the road.
2:00 instead of slowing down until you pass the obstacle in the left lane so you can overtake the other cyclist safely you pull into the buses lane whilst its moving, you are at fault due to impatience and not reading the road ahead well enough, funny that you called the bus impatient!
You should have stopped or slowed down for the old lady.
I'm sure cyclists always shouting and screaming about 'your to fucking close to me ' even though there's enough room , but it's ok in there books to ride right up besides us car drivers and hang off our wing mirrors.
Well, I guess it's a little complicated for someone who doesn't understand the difference between 'your' and 'you're'. Let me explain; when a car goes past it is moving, thus it is dangerous and cyclists don't want it to be too close to them. However when a car is sat in traffic it is not moving, therefore it is of limited threat; even if it moves suddenly it won't be close to as dangerous as a car that is already up to speed.
So, to sum it up for you - big mettle boxes on wheels are disliked by people without big metal boxes of their own when said boxes are moving fast enough to kill them.
Understand?
I'm sure you mean, not moving and not NO moving but hey guess we all make mistakes. In reply the commen about big metal boxes......hmm where to begin.....fuck it I'll put it like this . METAL BOXES ARE EXPENSIVE and can be damaged by idiots riding little bikes near them but if cyclists don't mind coming up so damm close to us motorists (at speed) then when the car starts to move the cyclist should not get upset and try to hit the big metal box with wheels.......UNDERSTAND.
Guess you mean comment, not commen.
You're right, we all make mistakes. Guess my comment was a little aggressive, I work as a cycle courier so I tend to react a little harshly to car drivers giving cyclists grief.
I think you have a point, but as with everything it's about a middle ground. A driver needs to give space to a cyclist when he's going as speed, that's just a fact. As for static traffic, sometimes cyclists filter when they shouldn't and end up putting themselves in stupid places where they either endanger themselves or just irritate everyone else on the road. However a lot of the time it is much safer for a cyclist to be at the front of a line of traffic, so he doesn't get side swiped by someone turning left.
It's a common occurrence that a car will overtake me, then stop at a traffic light with a cycle bay at the front, however the car will be so close to the curb I can't get past.
agreed. I am a professional driver for the elderly and people with disabilities and I almost always give way to cyclists even if the run the red lights and nearly hit the car. I had a cyclist go into the back of my personal car a couple weeks ago and cause 750 pounds worth of damage . He came from the opposite side of the road to oncoming traffic and swerved behind me and in doing so cut up a taxi that was also behind me . He didn't realise the light in front was red and I had stopped . the impact was that harsh I thought the cab had hit me as I got out the car I then saw the cyclist on the floor and I realised he hit me. needless to say I was very angry but he paid up .
See the ambulance, stopped, with the blue lights on, on the wrong side of the road, at a pedestrian crossing?
Anyone with half a brain would be anticipating either pedestrians or ambulance crew or emerging from behind the vehicle.
These bus drivers are incredible. I cannot believe the nonsense they are forced to deal with. As a cyclist myself I am appalled at some of antics shown in your videos😳
Ridding a bicycle throughout Elephant & Castle is already dangerous by itself, and doing so while using the phone at the same time is utterly stupid.
I'm sure he was ordering pizza...so it's ok.
Highway Code rule 91224 states:
When cycling it is permitted to use a mobile phone to order a pizza. This rule also applies to ordering online whilst cycling.
Know the law people!!
@1:08 - So you need to be told she's turning right? Oh and she does look over -_-
I accidentally step on cycle path in Paris to take picture. It was empty, but a fast moving cyclist took a swing at me. The French for you.
I saw a few cyclists stopped at red lights! This has to be staged surely? or faked?
ive realised from working on the london roads everyday on bicycle and motorbike youu have to expect peope to ride/drive unsafe, if u just went by whats right in london youll be on the floor in no time
I don't know what your rules of the road are, but in the US, cyclists are required to obey the same laws as motorists. With few exceptions, riding between lanes of traffic is illegal. Turning right on red is legal in the US, as long as it is safe to do so. As for pedestrians, regardless of what color the light is, if you see one in the crosswalk, you are required to yield to them.
+Timothy Fish same here... with pedestrians whatever the circumstances you're at fault.. unless you can prove that they purposelessly jumped into your path I'm hoping these pedestrians laws will be extended to cyclists as we're also vulnerable road users.
***** some pedestrians are a bit reckless too, yet I do not think laws to protect them should be cancelled.
+Timothy Fish Lane splitting/filtering is completely legal on a motorbike over here, so I am pretty sure it is the same with a bicycle.
Timothy Fish some states don't allow red light right turns. Some states allow lane splitting.
Correct response to the pedestrians crossing on red. For cyclists, just shout red. Let them make heir minds up if its a warning or an accusation.
And they say drivers are bad!! It should be against the law for cyclists to surround buses and lorries like that, it's no wonder some cyclists have been run down.
The cyclist at 1:07 doesn't been to shoulder check/indicate as they are travelling on the same piece of road, (as opposed to turning into a new road where that would be required).
I don't recommend headphones on a bike. Even if I try and get them quiet, the wind rustles round them at speed creating a lot of noise anyway.
u went through a red light or two there my friend oops 🤔
Every time a cyclist does something utterly fucking ridiculous an angel gets it's wings
Why is it that virtually every cyclist video on YT is in London ?
Running lights seems to be a trait of the older generation more than cyclists in their twenties and early thirties.
The youngest ones seem to not be very confident and sort of half heartedly jump yew lights and stop after a few meters, right In the middle of the crossing.
Cycling in London is crazy. Cycling between a bus and a semi....crazy stuff. I keep right or cycle in bike lanes not in the middle lane where I am from. I see bikes in traffic but it is very rare here now a days. .
Wow this whole video made me so very nervous... Out of curiosity, what are those wavy zig-zag like road markings at crossings? I'm from Canada
You're not allowed to park on them. They're there so cars can see the pedestrians waiting and vice versa. Plenty of people park on them anyway though...
In Canterbury, I have put my walking stick through the spokes of three cyclists riding in pedestrian zones. The arrogant pigs all threatned violence.
Ma'am on the last clip. So sweet. Thanks for that.
even slowed down to maaaaaaaaaam
Rules are the same in Ireland , if it goes on the road it has to be taxed, insured MOT'd/NCT'd ,(exept for cyclists) and the law obeyed by everyone on the road, no exception's, a red light is a red light no matter what form of transport you use.
Well even you were doing it wrong, you were forcing yourself in front of busses, that's really dangerous too. If there is no cycle box, you should stay behind the bus.
1:05 - the road turns right so no need. Overtaking there is just stupid.
I saw a video some time ago in which a cyclist thought he'd be clever, threading himself through the gap between two lorries. He had a gap that was barely wider than his handlebars. Unfortunately for him, he clipped the side of one of the lorries. He went over the top of the handlebars, the bike was picked up by the trailer wheels of one of the lorries and came up and over, but cyclist went under the wheels. He never got up again, or so I'm given to believe. You could be forgiven for thinking it was suicide.
One of the advantages of riding a bike in a city is that you can cut past stationary traffic, but when this puts you in danger its stupid. Take your time and stay safe.
I didn’t learn to ride a bicycle until I was 35. As a result I am a hopeless cyclist, it is not helped with some cyclists having so little patience. There is a perception that if you are an adult then you must be an experienced cyclist and should be able to cope with all road situations. I really want to ride a bike but not when I see videos like this.
It's tricky to maintain a safe road position when cycling through traffic. When traffic is stationary you overtake only to be in no hands land when it starts moving again.
Cyclists are the same in Sydney, they think that they are privileged.
You ran so many red lights in this video, and hit zebra crossings like they where there for you to score points by ramming someone to get 50 points.
That guy yelling at the people crossing the road sounds like a giant dousche
I thought everyone knew by now: Instant repeat slow-mo's are really annoying.
I know now, but didn't know a year ago :-) Look at the compilation I uploaded today is quite the opposite of repeat slow-mo ua-cam.com/video/wKOLc7UAbJw/v-deo.html
cyclist with the camera - 19 seconds - ignoring the basic of the highway code?
Thanks for the compilation, makes me self-reflect on my riding.
+Llama Phillistine I suspect you did not mean that as a compliment, but to be honest seeing myself riding badly makes me reflect on my own riding as well. So still think is a really educational exercise for me and other to upload my clips.
Silvio Diego I meant your videos are positively instructive. Many times when we ride we just get carried away without realising how obnoxious we can be, so looking at how other cyclists (those you filmed) behave is enlightening.
***** Thanks again for further explaining.
Good stuff. That Elephant and castle roundabout is nasty
Tony Hickson it has been removed
Driving in that city must be a damn nightmare with so many cyclists trying to squeeze themselves into every tiny space they see.
+elgransick the nightmare are the motor vehicles drivers, if we had more cyclists it would be heaven.
1:54 This is diabolical cycling! You tailgated that cycle and then overtook it so closely! And in the next clip you bombed through the pedestrian crossing even though The Highway Code says to give way to pedestrians who are crossing when the light is green!
i have t say its good to see a cyclist pointing out the bad riding i myself ride and it dose frustrate seeing bad a dangerous cyclists. best to be safe on the road then to take a silly risks just to get somewhere that little bit quicker.
London Cyclists seem to be attracted to small passages between cars and busses, like flies are attracted to shit.
Have you considered roadcraft? It's beneficial for cyclists of all abilities and helps with road positioning and communication with others etc. It's free and I fully appreciate what I got from it. A trainer follows you around and gives you tips and advice, basically. All very good spirited and on whatever level you want it to be on!
I was going to say the uplosders consideration for other road users and hazard perception are pretty questionable, but plenty of others have already said it. Anyway, entertaining enough.
All the commments are valid except for 1:05. You can see her looking to her right mid turn, she saw you.
Also you don't need to shoulder check or indicate when it isn't an intersection, she couldn't go anywhere else!
All together not a bad video just the one issue, rubber side down from Canada mate!
General message to cyclists. Wait your sodding turn.
there is a bike shop in St Austell called The Pavement Bicycle
2:32 my biggest bitch when riding around the CBD of Melbourne - Australia where I live. Pedestrians always keep crossing after the green walk light goes red. They just don't seem to see bike riders. You yell at them, they yell back. Like who's doing the wrong thing?
Glad I live 170 miles from that alien hellhole. Everyone out for themselves without a care for other. The government giving cyclists extra powers has only turned them into bigger anchors. I thought the old lady crossing has the same presidency over cyclists as peddlers do over cars. I thought you peddled quite thoughtfully which is hard when everyone seems to think their time is more important than others and indeed their own mortality! Keep safe.
Silvio Diego, your ignorance is outstanding! Shouting at pedestrians "jumping the red light". So you cyclists don't do that then?
Welcome to the channel!
Those cycling vigilantes that put up the other videos get on my nerves and think they are above every other road user. Yours, to be fair, is quite unbiased.
I was thinking just that, somehow I find myself looking at cycling vids (sad) and 99% are just a mish mash of horrible motorists. For my sins I've stumled on a poster called 'cyclingmikey' a man on a lie down pedal Sinclair C5. Mow that's bias
John Newton Ah yes. Cyclingmikey. The man is an idiot. If you watch his videos he engineers a lot of the "close calls" yet he believes he is the oracle of road safety. I can't imagine what his motivation is other than having something to post on youtube. Someone will wallop him one day and in all likelihood he would have deserved it. I don't have a problem with cyclists overall as I cycle myself although not that often now. Its the ones like him that feed this us and them attitude on the road.
don't get mad at pedestrians, when in the car I have to wait for pedestrians and bicycles lol, just reduce speed like everyone else, or get a bell on your bicycle lol
I have a bell but is quite pathetic no one can hear it.
Check out the HornIT bike horn, it's reputed to be the world's loudest bike horn and has saved my bacon a few times.
I dont see you looking over your shoulder doing your life saver checks before overtaking?
care to tell me which part of the clip you're referring to? If you could write 0:50 for example that would be great.
This shows the unpleasantness and self righteous perspective of the average lycra clad cyclist in London. If you don't want to be squelched like an ant, stop clustering around other vehicles like a pack of ants.
the Netherlands cyclists don't give a shit about red lights
Driving in London, particularly a bus but car also, must be like stepping across a floor covered in insects. They're all seething and swarming chaotically around you, and you're trying hard not to step on any. It's like a circus. Not only must you watch the traffic ahead - you will at any given time have cyclists lane splitting either side of you, or riding near your bumper, and any gap you leave, they'll squeeze into.
I'd hate it.
This is infernal. These fucking bycicles are annoying the traffic in roads all over the world. I'm just waiting impatiently for some brave mayor of some big city to make them illegal in the middle of the traffic.
+Bruce Cheng I'm waiting for some brave UA-cam admin to make it illegal to make comments as dumb as yours.
YOU ARE ALL BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN WHO TRAVEL BY BICYCLE **AND** BY CAR IN THE CITY OF LONDON! HAVE YOU FOLKS EVER GOT A PAIR!
Didn't get to cycle this morning... and this made me feel like I had a city workout... gr8 stuff.
1:11, that is not a right turn. That's just following the road that bends to the right. There's no need to check over the shoulder.
Cycling in London looks more like a horror movie.....
You are allowed to ride a bike and use a telephone in the UK
being allowed to do something does not mean is a smart thing to do.
Could you not have found some manners inside you to have stopped and let the old Lady continue to cross the road and you could have ensured that she crossed safely??
Riding a bike as if on a country lane or cycle track. With no accounting for traffic or pedestrians. Just self righteous, dont get in my way, attitude.
I though it was bad in Glasgow to be a cyclist but damn I'm never going near London
Cyclists break the law the whole time, they are also aggressive towards pedestrians when they have to share the same space in some way.
It's no exaggeration to say that some cyclists seem to exist in a state of permanent road-rage. Whatever it is that makes people behind car-wheels get angry does so doubly for cyclists.
Just today, without even looking out for this, I've seen cyclists cycling illegally on a pedestrianised area, where they should not have been doing so, and where they were endangering kids. I saw another cyclist and thought "something's wrong, what is it?" I then realised she was happily cycling the wrong way down a 1-way street.
A couple of days ago 2 cyclists almost got into a fight after colliding in a city centre area neither should have been cycling in. I've seen countless episodes of cyclist aggression, going through red lights, cycling within inches of pushchairs, cyclists shouting at people crossing the road, cyclists with their hands in their pockets (because its so clever!)
...and they always seem to feel so *aggrieved* - as though it's nothing to do with their own behaviour!
+Harry Lagman I see more car drivers breaking the law every day, than cyclists.
Silvio Diego Myself I don't see that at all - though my observations obviously don't amount to a statistical study. I do see occasional speeding & dangerous driving from time to time, and parking illegally - when challenged, drivers display the same aggressive behaviour: it's the same dynamic, exactly
Unfortunately, cyclists sometimes get to use the same spaces as pedestrians, and then start to treat them as though they are "in the way", when the cyclist is trying to beat his best time to work..
Harry Lagman I think cyclists should look after pedestrian the way we'd like motor vehicle drivers to look after us. Regarding motorists breaking the law, not only driving above the speed limit and dangerously, the one thing that is affecting all drivers now a day is mobile phone use, which is far too common and very illegal.
Silvio Diego Ah yes, you have a point. I've seen drivers' mobile phone use also - and a look through my local court records showed several prosecutions (some involving tragic cases) for this. Of course many infractions will go unpunished.
In 20 years we will look back at cyclists 2day and say....god...how was that allowed....it's just completely lawless
IN 30 years wheel look back at cars and say "fuck were we thinking" as every rides bikes everywhere cos car get banned or become AI controlled only.
What I don't get is why cyclists are happy to cycle really really close to moving vehicles practically brushing he sides of vans and buses, yet if a car over takes too closely they get mad and threaten the driver with their tripod on their head?.
I might be able to illustrate and answer with an example: Try walking or cycling very close to a heavy hammer, and then ask someone to swing it very fast and close to your head, that might give you the same feeling.
+Silvio Diego ok so it's not really to with safety it's more to do with how it feels for the cyclists and potential to knock them off their bike with the wind pressure?
I do not think as a cyclist I'm afraid of the wind, is more to do with swinging a tone of metal really close to you, most of the time pointlessly. These drivers when they're unlucky enough and the cyclist falls in front of them, either for a pot hole or a part of the bike that breaks and because they're so close the just crush the cyclist then they feel like shite and say things like 'that was unexpected'
+Silvio Diego ok but it's fine to cycle past really close even when the traffics moving? So as long as it's carried out by you and not the driver it's ok?
I fully support giving bikes room, but on a number of occasions iv felt cyclists have unfairly and awkwardly past my car way too fast when I'm just about to pull away and often they creep up behind you weaving in amongst other cars so that they are hidden from view of your wing mirrors etc. I just think that although the Highway Code allows it, it's not safe. Iv even had my wings Mirrors and sides of my car scraped by them, and of course I can't claim from them for damage because they're off so quickly and can't be traced like a car can.
I own a car and a motor bike, so I know what you're talking about. I have caught last minute a cyclist trying to overtake me, when I was indicating and turning right. So I agree that is wrong and dangerous but I go back to the example of the heavy hammer, I do not think one is as bad as the other. Not sure if it makes sense... Thanks for taking the time to comment on my channel and sometimes it takes me a few comments to understand if someone is a troll or not.
I'm forced to ride a bike I hate it with a passion every day for 50 year's I'd rather stick pins in my face I've never met a cyclist I like especially the fair weather cyclist where are they in January ?
the cyclist goes on a 100% confrontational course by maintaining speed if not even accelerating and riding into the car. The car indicator was on, so he intends to turn left, that's what indicators are for. The cyclist simply wanted this crash to happen. I would have slowed down as a cyclist simply because I saw the indicator. It's painfully obvious. Doesn't matter if the car driver made an error, the cyclist saw him and raced on. In doing so he caused the crash. Dead simple. No time for such cyclists.
thanks for your comment, don't forget to watch my other video 'Top 10 Most Annoying Drivers' and give me your take on that: ua-cam.com/video/T6Xo8LVu-mY/v-deo.html
1:07 where in the highway code does state to indicate to follow the road round a corner?
I think you're all mental to ride in London, it's fart too gnarley for me
Er.. *far, but i guess fart works too!
There's never a steamroller about, when you need one. 😁
English traffic on a bicycle is a fucking deathtrap
you're not allowed to overtake the first vehicle at a pedestrian crossing. You did this many times (I do it too not going to lie) but it is against the highway code.
thanks for your comment! My understanding was that you cannot overtake 'any' cars when they're 'zig-zag' lines. Are you referring to those? I do overtake other vehicles because the highway code says do not overtake but does not mention anything about 'not filtering'.... Trying to understand this better, and no one has been able to confirm if you're not supposed to filter either.
Rule 191 of the highway code (UK) -
You MUST NOT park on a crossing or in the area covered by the zig-zag lines.
You MUST NOT overtake the moving vehicle nearest the crossing or the vehicle nearest the crossing which has stopped to give way to pedestrians.
the zig zags are just for parking to keep the view of the crossing clear. My understanding with filtering is that it would be regarded the same as overtaking in this scenario. If you do hit a pedestrian who is crossing - albeit even on a red man, I think you would be held fully/ mostly responsible.
oh also - because the highway code wording is "MUST NOT", this means it is written in legislation and is a road traffic offence - I'm a motorcycle rider (rule 191 is applicable to all road users) and I try and get around this by stopping alongside the front vehicle and pushing my bike gently slightly infront of them. Think the main thing is to make sure you don't hit anything at a pedestrian crossing :)
hey thanks for the thorough explanation, much appreciated.
1:31 Camberwell Grove, the bridge. I once saw a clueless car driver come up the hill, in the cycle lane, or above the cycle lane, as one or both sets of wheels were on the pavement to get this done. I don't cycle with a cam unfortunately, as this would have made a great video.
On the phone around Elephant & Castle! That's stupid on another level...
It's not against the rules to be on the phone and cycling
You can learn to drive a car in an hour, when you take your test and get a licence its just saying you have learned the rules and are competent on the road.ou spend over a grand to learn how to conduct yourself on the road and the rules.....
Buy a bike and you can go on all the roads without being told if you are safe...........
is it me or on 59 secs do you not go on a red ? later on in the footage it shows these lights again @3:29 it clearly shows green i dont think you should criticise others if this is the case.
+rob gamer 0:59 it turns yellow as the camera faces away from it, I should wait till green is on to start but I have a huge impatient bus behind me so start riding on yellow. 3:29 I'm criticizing the lady who crosses the road without green man and without looking. I do have a green light.
yeah i agree on the 3:29 i was just using that as an example as its the same lights showing the green sorry for not being clear.
I bet you don't have a driver's licence, because obviously you don't know the traffic rules.
+dXb I do have a car and driver's license and you're right like many other drivers I do not fully know the traffic rules.
+dXb What he did wrong.. ? Lane splitting is perfectly legal where he lives.
+Kuhaku
Did I say anything about lane splitting? I think I did not.

1:07 She was not turning. It's *one* lane. That road only goes right. Shoulder check and indicating? What for? Are you ill?
1:55 Where you call the bus driver "impatient", you actually cut him off because *YOU* are impatient to let him pass on his own lane. You cyclists expect the whole world going your speed.
You also keep overtaking on left, which is only permitted if the vehicle in front is signalling to turn right, and there is space to do so.
Good vid. Many fellow cyclists are divs...drum roll......just like drivers and the general population.
Perhaps the old lady with the red hat wanted a lift in the ambulance ?
Russia: Bad Drivers
England: Bad Cyclists (everyone is in hurry and its so tight)
How can people even cycle in London, would drive me nuts. Here I am aiming for only two stops on my way to work and you stop every other crossing/corner/whatever.
