Great video, bro! You nailed it, samesies. I've owned both, and I really disliked the PV within moments of turning it on. I was so disappointed with it, and on the other hand the moment I turned on the LBXII I loved it.

Great video. It may not be your thing, but as a 7 string player I would love to see some play throughs in a much lower tuning like drop A or G. I noticed a lot of guys on the more djenty super low tuned 7-8 string side have been using EVHs and I'm guessing the EVH's brightness and better highs has a lot to do with it.
I have the EVH and my bro has the 6505. I love them both but i agree the EVH is more versatile. Great vid as usual Kyle.

The EVH 5153 series is awesome.No matter what im playing im always coming back......but i like the 50watt the most!
In my opinion, the LBXII sounds better, but the 6505 sounds more dark... And that can very good for aggressive styles. They are both very good.
Great comparison! I’m still watching but had to chime in, I’m definitely loving the 6505 more. The 6505 has a full bodied clarity and feels better. Definitely has a stronger punchy vibe. It’s meaner, raunchier, and just sounds pissed for my style. EVH wins for a more compressed voicing that has a sharper tone that’s very reminiscent of a modded Marshall. It’s cool to hear your choice as opposed to mine.
Greg, didn't know you had them both to compare back to back and give an educated opinion on. That's what really matters, having played both close enough to really be able to discern the differences. In my experience, the 6505mh is less clear and far more compressed.
Could you do an lbx-s vs invective mh? I think I prefer the 50w stealth but don't know if I can justify the price for only home playing, and I'm not sure how well the lunchboxes compare
EVH all the way. I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks it has a Marshall vibe to it. I think that’s why it takes a tube screamer boost so well. I like all the mini heads but with the boost this one might be my favorite. At least this week.
Ive been playing a 6505mh for years and I love it, but I have to say the EVH did sound better in this comparison.
Nice vídeo. I have the 6505MH but its too noisy. It needs a hard gate! Even so, it makes a lot of noise... Im not happy with that. The Peavey 212-6 cab with greenbacks also sounds... dark... Not in a good way...
The cab sounds dark even with my 6505 Piranha...

The 6505MH set to:Pre-Gain 3-6 to taste or using an overdrive, then the Bass 4-6, Mids 3-5, Treble 4-6 and Res & Pres 6.

I own this EVH head with a matching 1x12 evh Cab with the anniversary Celestion speaker....i love it but question? where was your Resonance set at? that totally changes the way the cab reacts to the low end.....i use a tubescreamer in front and it works great but gotta keep the Resonance to at least half....too high it sounds boxy

As an LBX II owner I'd say UA-cam videos don't do the justice to guitar amps, especially when miced with dynamic mics. There's a huge difference between each guitar. With medium-gain alnico Duncan Solar pickups LBX might sound not as saturated but with active pickups it's an absolute monster.
On the 6505 series you need to crank the presence and lower the trebles (they are ugly!) then crank the resonance knob, put the mids on 3 and you’ll get a really better sound …it’s true on the mh, the 112+ and the 212 combo. Very different settings from the head.
100% personal preference based. Those settings wouldn't work for me, but glad they work for you.

I’ve seen guys do a tube roll on the 6505 and put lower gain 5751 tubes in the preamp section and throw an EQ in the loop and get great results. It takes away a bit of that harshness and opens up the amp a lot more. Still, out of the box the LBXII does slay.
5751 in these amps definitely do clean it up nicely, IMO

I'm a little late to this party but EVH definitely sounds better. Although the build quality of Peavey overall has always been better than EVH.
After playing the 6505 mh briefly and owning a 6505 112 that was converted to a head I realized that they were both sooo different from the 120 watt head in terms of clarity.
Maybe I got a complete lemon but the lower powered ones sounded like complete shit to me. They almost sounded like they were bing played in another room or something.

I hated the sound of the EVH, just goes to show how different ears can be.
Both amps seem thin and lifeless. I had a MH briefly, but couldn't deal with the emaciated tone. I ended up getting the 5150III EL34. I know they are different leagues of amps, but spending more on a better amp really helped me get to where I needed. I think the EVH stands out magnitudes over the MH.
None of those mini amps equate to the real thing. The power section regardless of volume just gives it oomph you don't get on the minis

I love both amps but they are garbage. I went through two 6505's for overheating and the Evh lasted two weeks before the amp died.
this must be the ugliest guitar I've ever seen.
