These amps are awesome. I bought the Invective MH and run it in a stereo setup through a Blackstar pro 4x12 with V30's and a Marshall 1960 Lead 4x12 with t75's . Sounds absolutely epic at both Gig levels and for home playing.
This head is on sale for $500 at adorama right now. I was always leaning towards getting a PRS MT15 for home use but that thing has a terrible taper on the volume knob. It goes from inaudible to too loud in the twitch of a finger. Been perfectly happy playing through a Blackstar HT5RH through a 1x12 open back Blackstar cab loaded with a V30 and a fractal FX8 Mark II in the effects loop. Putting a gate, drive, boost, and EQ through the clean channel has kept me very satisfied. But I ordered the 6505MH anyway. Hopefully it will be fun. I watched reviews on it all day and I gotta say yours was by far my favorite. Excellent playing too. I’m especially impressed by your phrasing and your legato.
Keep on playing bro! 🤘❤️
Playing my newly acquired 6050MH through a Marshall MG412ACF, and it's hard to dial in clarity on the treble end without getting shrill. Probably due to my lame speakers! I don't need a lot of stage volume, so I'm considering the Peavey 112-6 loaded with 25W Greenback. Those Peavey Greenback cabs seem to pair the best with this head.
I‘m really a huge Marshall enthusiast but the MG412 is just 🙈. You can pair the 6505MH with every classic speaker (T75/Greenback/V30 etc). It‘s just a matter of personal taste. The Peavey 112 will be an upgrade for you, no doubt!
To get the best tone out of the 6505 mh I use a Tube Screamer clone in front of the Amp and an 8-channel equalizer in the loop (together with an analog delay). To tame the noise I use a Boss NR-2 in 4-way wiring mode. The tone, if doing the fine-tuning with patience, is so much better, that even some pro musicians couldn't believe it. I buyed the equalizer after my mini head sounded a little dull and the tech couldn't find a defect component and also a change of the tubes didn't resolve this issue. Maybe my ears are too sensible but the tone was annoying to me. Because I don't want to begin a never ending story in trying to modify the amp I gave a chance to an budget equalizer, dialed in the tone and it was a success! Even the clean channel gives marshall-like clean tones without any change of the settings.
Great tone at the start! How did you record the amp so that you could add the Tue Madsen ir? Did you just use the preamp send on the effects loop? How did you record it without having the speaker simulation of the line out? Thanks.
@@CarstenStepanowicz i tried both and the peavy just seemed lacking in clarity. Also good old lambchopper convinced me, with the amount of different tones he can achieve
@@rastamon5969 The DSL20 is indeed more flexible and always up for a good boost pedal whereas the Peavey is more of a one trick pony. But it's a strong pony.🐴
A thorough demo of this amp. I prefer the first speakers. The Vintage 30’s were a bit too dark for my liking. Look after your coccyx (tailbone). I had to have fusion on my lower spine and coccyx, and that’s when my real troubles began.
Thank you very much! And thanks for the correct term. It didn't come into my mind in the heat of the battle. 🙂 And holy hell yes, you don't want any issues with your coccyx. I feel it with every move I make at the moment. 😂🙈
I had a lumbar RF ablation that’s lasted a surprisingly long time and kept me from having to go under the knife for that. Back surgery is like a can of Pringles- once you pop, you can’t stop.
@@naturaljoe759 you’re so right Joe. In hindsight, I wish I had never had the operation and found a way to live with the pain. The op basically made me crippled and the pain worse than before. I have since had a nerve/pain stimulator inserted and, together with the oral medication, I get about 4 hours of sleep at night, where I was lucky to get one hour’s sleep before and after the initial operation. But I am alive, so have a lot to be thankful for.
Thank you very much! I would go for the head. This way you're more flexible. Let's say you can use a 1x12 at home and a 2x12 or 4x12 live or at band rehearsals. 🙂 Haven't tried the combo yet!
I see that you took the wood panel off of the front for better ventilation. Supposedly they can over heat after an hour or so. I did the same with mine. I like to be able to see the tubes glow as well. It appears that preamp tube covers were added as well. I have an older on that doesn't have these.
I borrowed the amp from a friend. I'm pretty sure he's modified it that way. I didn't even know there's a wood panel behind the grill. 😄 Do you have any over heating issues with the amp?
Can one of you please make a video showing how to get the most distortion from a pedal hooked up to this amp? For some reason when I use these pedals, they sound minimally different from the pre gain that already comes with this wonderful amp. Should I turn the gain off completely to get better response from the pedal(s)?

It sounds best at 20 watts. The cleans are much better, the best part is that the amp works really good with the footswitch. Always great job!
Thank you very much! Will give it a try at 20 watts at my rehearsal space next time! 🤘
