Peavey wins for me: the gain is more controllable, and it's easier to use a boost.
The real test would be the 100 watt stealth vs the Peavey
I have the 50 watt stealth and a block letter 5150. The stealth is much more plug and play and obviously way more versatile. The Peavey has more of an open roar to it. With a boost, it’s more my flavor, but the stealth is the better overall amp imo.
They both sound amazing. I have a 50 watt Stealth and IMO it's the best amp I've ever played. The one thing about the entire 5150 lineup (Peavey, EVH) is they are all tight as hell, in a good way.
This pretty much confirms what I've always been saying about the fender evh - it's a peavey 5150 but with without the need for a tubescreamer.
I feel like the stealth owns the peavey until you switched to the red channels, then the peavey eats the stealth for breakfast. That 6505 red channel remains epic. The red channel on the stealth is almost too tight and defined for me, if that makes any sense. The peavey is able to stay tight and tracks well but sounds fuller to my ears. But again, just my opinion.
meanwhile peavey's real rival is evh 5150 stealth 100 watt.
I do like these both. One thing I'd like to see is getting them to sound the same, then turn around and dial em for their strengths. That'd be interesting to see the tone differences at that point.
Stealth wins. No contest.
There’s something about the growl of the 6505ii that hooks me in. Playing old school Thrash and Swedish Metal with that would be so much fun!
Love the moment when you dialed them in exactly alike, and you could see on the knobs, how much headroom the EVH still had! Excellent comparison!!
I love the comparison videos of Kyle! Are one of the few that really sound real! Many videos are done with loadboxes or expensive mics but Kyle really got it to the standard setup that has been used in most of the metal recordings, the SM57 + Mesa Recto Cab! I have both amps and as Kyle said, it is just a matter of taste of what you want, you can never go wrong with them!!!
I am very impressed by your professional comparison of these 2 amps! Job very well done! I look forward to every new video you do!!
Great comparison vid and I like the fast talking. It’s nice and to the point with some tasty riffage to boot!!👏 Literally thinking about selling my 5150ii and eventually replacing it with the 50w Stealth. I really don’t have much a need for a 120w amp head these days tbh.🤔🤘
IMO, I think this video is less about the similarities/differences between these two amps, and more about your ability to dial in a great tone on either one. Kudos to a great shootout, man!
Dear Kyle. I love your stuff, as an aspiring Producer (Still Beginner) this content helps me on gear decisions a lot. Thank You. What I watet to say about this video is its unfortunate these two are not Volume matched at all and you had the master louder on the Stealth so it sound a lot bigger.
Kyle, my 50 watt Stealth arrives in 2 days. To say I am excited would be an understatement. So I am spending a cold, lazy day watching Stealth videos.
Man this is totally the way to demo amps. Unlike the other guys that do way too much processing. This is what the amp actually sounds like. You can't really tell with the other demos. Subscribed thanks.
I appreciate this! These are the exact 2 amps I am deciding between.
I think we have similar tone preferences. I thought the blue channel sounded better vs the 6505 crunch... right up until the TC boost section. Then at
