    A proper real world review of a sleeping bag. Well done. 👍

    After a few weeks mine lofted nicely. It’s roomy and comfortable and really very warm down to at least the high 40s. I sleep very hot and I’m very happy with my bag.

    Thanks so much, this is exactly what I needed to NOT purchase this. The size/weight is so enticing but not if it’s not going to perform below 50 degrees. Great job. Earned a sub!

    just Joshin. I sent off for a new L.L. BEEN 20° synthetic bag. 1 lb. 15 oz. I'll back it up with a free Agusmax hood and some exped down booties. the down quilt is my pillow unless a blizzard strikes and I need to retreat into my USGI gortex bivie.

    I just bought one of these bags at a local indoor swap meet, type of place, still brand new for only $5, never had one, when I was a kid back in the 70's, use to go camping all the time in the CA mountains, summer and winter snow with just a plain ole cotton type sleep back, big and bulky, had to wear a good base layer to sleep in, non of this light weight stuff back then lol

    Thanks for the follow up I have had my concerns prior to buying this bag. I elected to go with the slightly more expensive AegisMax with the Envelope style. Should be getting it soon I will let you know. That model appears to have sewn through baffles whereas the other model does not.

      What is the supposed rating

    • @wv4life375
      @wv4life375 4 роки тому

      The specs are 800fill with 450gr of goose down vs the 800fill 256gr in your model. It is constructed of 15D vs 20D Nylon. The temp ratings are: Comfort 52deg vs 35deg, Lower Limit 43deg vs 26deg, and your Extreme Limit is 15deg and non is given for this bag but I would assume -2 based on there being a 17deg difference in the other two ratings. $120 vs $80.

      @@trailtimewithblaze4874 I'll be interested to know your experience. That the one I had and it did not add 25 degrees. I'm not sure where you have your temperature ratings (35 F) from? I have the Aegismax Mini too and my says "Comfort: 52 F, Limit: 43" and so says the Aegismax web store too.
    I've slept in it down to 47 F just wearing a merino wool t-shirt and I was fine, so I think wearing a complete baselayer (and a beanie), you should be able to get down to the limit rating of 43 F.
    I'm gonna try washing my bag like you did. It's a great tip 👍

      @@Ramdinohikes I just watched a review that's more than one year old done by Darwin on the trail and you're right! He too speaks of a temperature rating at 30-35 F! That bag is definitely not a three seasons bag. Here in Denmark I would call it an extended summer bag.
      For three season use I've actually bought the G1 from Aegismax. I ve used it down to 24 F. At that temperature, wearing baselayer and beanie I was a bit cold. But that's OK. This bag is rated as a 30 F bag 😉

    Sorry, I'm confused. In amazon it says: Comfort:+11° C/52° F, Lower Limit:+6° C/43° F, Extreme:-9° C/15° F. Did they changed the description of the product ? Did it use to say 35 F as Comfort zone ?

    Camping in Asia where the average temperature at night is around 70-80 F, at this point I think any sleeping bag would be too warm and make me sweat like hell, what do you think? Do I still need a sleeping bag or just go with a liner?

    • @Ramdinohikes
      @Ramdinohikes  4 роки тому

      A liner is fine for warm weather and another layer just in case it gets a little cooler, particularly in the middle of summer. If going near the beginning or end of summer watch the weather for cool fronts that might need a lottle thicker liner or a light bag. Dont forget about it being cooler at higher elevations. It was 50-60 at pm at 5000 ft my last hike but 80 at lower.

    I started out in 1980s using down bags my first one was I told Korean War John Rambo bag I never wash that bags one bit but I did get it wet and it was heavy as hell when it was wet cuz it was an 8 lb bag dry and to 20 lb bag wet right now I'm using a Kelty Cosmic 30 degree down bag it says it has a 600 fill and I used it down to 20 degrees which is a little cold I added my Kelty 45 degree bag and it has a 550 fill now when I get down to 12 and 10 degrees I had my Alps mountain fleece liner what it say is that it's rated for 10 to 15 degrees the extra warms no I've only washed one bag and that was the 45 degree bag

      I have always felt that temp ratings were optimistic so I buy bags that are rated 20 degrees cooler than I expect to encounter as I can unzip a little if I get hot. Having said that the Chinese falsify almost every thing, even infant milk has caused deaths and people will go outside of China to buy it.

    I don't recommend at all this product... First of all, the seller (Offical) send the product with multiple damages, there was no customer care at all, as the product was damaged, I went to check the Down Fill quality, it's extremely bad, most of them is a poor and thin synthetic material, AegisMax uses fake filling...
