Chemist here. With the chelated iron it means it bound to the EDDHA which means its more soluble in water so can be taken up by the plant better, and is in a form that’s more available to the planet. The EDDHA part is synthetic but also safe (many synthetics are safer than natural things, natural substances are usually produced by plants to deter things, where as human made substances can be designed to be safer)
Thank you, chemist. Also have a chemistry background - and I would have to disagree with your final sentiment. Humans think that they are making safer compounds, but since we really don't have a clue how everything works together, it's just more of a hope than an assertion.
@@folee_edge I work in compliance for a food ingredient company, I’ve had to scrap more ingredients due to high heavy metal content, plant toxics and carcinogens from the cooking or drying process than I have for pesticides. And I’m in the EU, where maximum residue limits are set by testing the compound on many different animals, taking the lowest dose shown to have an effect in the most sensitive animal, and then setting the limit 100s of times below that. The point I was making was a general rule, but it does hold mostly true because plants produce modules to protect themselves, and they don’t put them through trials to asses their safety for human. Also if you think humans don’t have a clue how everything works together, we’ll plants I think maybe know less.
You both have strong points. Can I kick in a third perspective? People do sometimes muck things up, but we also create life-changing things. In the plant and food world, think of tractors and modern fruit. Have you ever seen an image of historic watermelon strawberries? Even commercial products are delicious in contrast. But it's true ( especially in the corporate bought regulators in the U. S.) there have been strong negatives. Think seed oils and white flour. Maybe the answer is to continue the creative process while keeping a humble attitude. Then be open to correcting mistakes.
I know you worry about being negative, but you are real. So many of us have plants, trees, and walkways that are not quite right and need to deal with it. Your vast experience and so many ongoing examples help all of the viewers. Thank you for the honesty and the balance.
I am wondering if anyone else would LOVE more of Laura and Aaron story time videos. I absolutelyy love when they get side tracked and just talk about whatever comes to their mind. I love how you communicate with eachother. Yes I know that we see only a sliver of your relationships but still it is so refrehing to me.
You don’t sound ungrateful .... we all go thru “ready to get this done” and “why didn’t they do it correctly the first time”. It is frustrating and you handle it very well. Keeping on looking on the good things that has been done. Y’all have come a long way this season already🥰
The moment you realized the Hartley garden wouldn’t be planted this year was the realest moment on UA-cam today. We’re building a home and we have had setbacks that made me take that exact breath (a few times and often with some complaining). Realest is a word, right? Infrastructure and hardscaping first is solid advice, though. You two are a great team.
I'm so glad Aaron joined the conversation in your recaps, it's honest and real. I felt your angst when Aaron said no planting around the Hartley until spring. Deep breath. Good things are worth waiting for. I find remembering that all this happen in His time, not ours, helps ease my anxiety when I'm eagerly anticipating something. 🙏🥰🌞🌻🐝🐸 Enjoy your week. Sending continued prayers for your mom.
I thought she was going to cry when he said that. Even though it is likely the truth (hopefully, things will speed up so she can get them in the ground).
Well, she's got a shed FULL of planters, pots, etc. Putting something together temporarily would make an EXCELLENT video about problem solving. Many people don't want to plant on property they are only renting or selling soon. When life gives us lemons, get creative! 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
Laura I simply adore the relationship that you have with your Mom!! Here's to wishing your sweet Mom a complete/speedy recovery...so we can see you guys jump back into your fun adventures vintage hunting!💚
So sorry to hear that the water behind the Hartley needs to be redone and I don’t blame you a bit for feeling a bit frustrated. We are all so excited to see this space take shape and know it will be amazing whenever you do get to start working on it. Crossing my fingers they don’t need to break up the floor. 🤞
I enjoy these recap videos, but I really enjoy the interaction between you and Aaron. So glad he has joined the videos as his comments add so much! Hard to believe he was once not comfortable on camera. As your property has grown so has Aaron’s on-camera presence!
Not for nothing but I'm glad you sound a little bummed about the progression of things - it's a lot more real 🤷 I don't think that means you are ungrateful, just human! You have such a beautiful family, home and garden space filled with possibility, how could you not be grateful?❤️✌️👏 Anticipation.....see you again next time
My husband and I bought the property across from us( a small plot, 2.25 acres) just to stop a house going in across from our home. We cleared it, left beneficial trees, planted trees..but we've also in the last 3 years, created a community garden on that land..this coming spring we will have 2 additional families starting new there. Much more beautiful visually and by heart seeing that vs a house blocking a beautiful natural woodline of very old trees💕
🪴No, you're not coming across as negative or "bummed out about everything" Laura. I think it's very helpful to hear about any problems you've come across from your experiences.
You have that issue too? I call mine money bunny because he's costing me $ by eating my crops. I love them though. They know when they are in trouble. They freeze in place and watch me as I speak to them like they understand me 🐇😆
Amphibians are an indication that you don’t use a ton of dangerous chemicals on your gardens. Wonderful that you are replenishing the environment and making it healthier.
I think that city’s Master Plans come up for review fairly regularly, and that I think that with you all being so established, and the amazing changes that are happening to your property, plus the way your business has made people around the world of what your town even IS and why they might like to visit or even move there… I think there’s a great shot of getting that Master Plans redesigned if you (or at least your business) are staying there long-term!
Moving to better schools is a very wise choice! The school years will come faster than you know it for Benjamin. Keep that idea on the radar. I'm a teacher and a great education makes such a big difference in a life.
Maybe instead of a wedding venue, just wedding pictures done in your space. Can you imagine how beautiful that could be with the Hartley! Christmas time with the lights, spring when everything blooms, maybe as the sun dips to the horizon and everything is golden in the summer, or fall with the leaves blossoming into their true colors. Just beautiful.
We have a camp area set up in our woods close to the house. It is woods not a garden but we have been asked and allowed 2 couples to get married in that area. It is fun to have it decorated up for weddings. We also had my 25th Class reunion down there. A total hit, we ate in the pavilion then sat around the fire pit. best reunion we've had. Just imagine the wedding pictures if you hosted weddings in your space.
I can’t tell you what a comfort it is to hear that you guys have problems and issues also! I so often watch these videos and think what a charmed life they have… Thank you for being amazing but normal human beings!
When we moved into our house in Texas there was a ranch in the back. We found out a developement was going to be built there, we were up on slope where our pool was so we would have looked like we were on a stage without any privacy even though we had a 6 foot fence. I immediately decided to plant trees. 2 bald cypress 4 live oaks and 2 oaks. It was amazing how fas they grew. Within a couple of years we had privacy and by that time they were building a house behind us.
Hugs to your Mom, I broke my ankle 7 months ago at the age of 64. Cast 5 wks, boot 3 wks then a brace. It was rough for a few months but almost fully recovered now.
When your mom feels better, maybe you can do a video together on her porch, or you could both do flower arrangements. HINT HINT. (Haven’t seen your gorgeous designs for a while!)
Hi Laura! I think I have an answer for you on the question of shearing your dianthus after the first flush of blooms. I used to try to deadhead mine by hand and I would eventually give up. This year I sheared them after the first flush even though there were some buds forming down in the plant. After about 3 weeks they came back strong and they’ve been in full bloom ever since. I was so happy that my gamble paid off 🦋
Love how you haven’t focused on the negative situation. Thank you, this is exactly why I absolutely love this show. Also I have an idea you might appreciate. Take a scrap wood that is like the interior wood in your cut flower shed and coat it with apple cider mix that has had steel wool sitting in it for 1/2 hour. It will change the color to an aged wood within the day. It becomes more grey I think you might like it. It is a beautiful shed!
I thank you all are absolutely amazing, very inspiring and such a wealth of knowledge. I travel a lot with my job and I just love listening to you on my long rides. Thank you for all you do!
My heart and prayers go out to your mom. I too broken my leg at my ankle several years ago and ended up with a plate and screws. It takes a while but I recovered. I still have issues but nothing that I can’t overcome. It makes you stop and appreciate the little things.
Have you thought of just doing a wood stain in the flower shed? Instead of painting or doing wallpaper you could just deepen the tone of the wood with a stain; this will let you enjoy the natural wood look while getting rid of the orange tone.
I love the idea of getting the wood lighter. Even if it’s a white wash and transparent rather than an opaque paint, especially if you want to keep the wood grain look. Anything darker is going to feel like a cave!
@@sylvietherrien5617 Love the idea of a transparent whitewash. I wish my maple kitchen cabinets had that look. They have yellowed so much after 22 years. I did not know this would happen to them. They were a light beige to begin with. However the glossy hard finish is still good.
I suggested a stain on that video. Why you would spend a bunch of money on wood walls and then, paint them is lost on me. Should've just done drywall. What a waste.
@@growingkansas This world is not made up of all compliments and no criticism. Lovely words are nice to hear, but much can be learned from a critical eye, especially if it is the constructive type.
Hey, Laura and Aaron! We moved to a small town house this winter, and we've always rented. Still renting, but now from a very nice, accomodating Policewoman who lets me do whatever I want, as long as I check in with her. So I have now, this spring, planted my first garden! And thanks to you, I felt confident enough to plant a full garden..! I have learned so much from you, about plants, caring for them, and just general upkeep of the garden, and sort of the rhythm of things. I now wake up, check the watering, clean out some weeds, and just marvel at what I've done with my small, but cozy space... All thanks to you! I also work as a Flower Decorator, where my main knowledge has been cut flowers and green plants, but I now know alot more about gardenplants aswell! All the love, from us, in Norway 💙
Love these recaps. I love the interactions between you and Aaron. Wonderful way to start my Sunday. The Hartley area and all the other areas will eventually be complete and then you will be working on something else so just be patient. I and many others will still be watching . So glad your mom is doing well, she is the sweetest lady and I hate she has to deal with this.
Laura, you have the patience of Job. That Hartley is beautiful but the disruption and mess related to it have been epic, yet you’ve handled it with grace.
Your cleanup of the pallet garden was great- sometimes life gets in the way for a few weeks, and you walk outside to a jungle. Its so hard to get motivated in the heat, and you showed us how to assess and conquer! Great job.
Please feel free to complain! It’s a part of life. And if people don’t like it, they don’t have to watch. After all, you are human. And an amazing one at that!
You aren't a being a bummer, this is real life, sometime things get delayed, don't work the way we want, etc. I -love- that y'all show real life and not just the pretty parts.
Just want to assure you both are not coming across as complaining or negative! Very grateful for the truth and your experience both pro and con, it comes across as genuine which is awesome and wants me to watch your videos more. I find you both positive overall but if you were positive all the time and never showing disappointment at anything, it would come across not very real. We all feel disappointment so it's very relatable. Wishing you the best, what you've done is amazing and inspires me all the time!! All the best!! ✌️👍❤️💐
When I have a large amount of plants I have to hold, I line them up in rows and run 1/4” drip across the top, holding with landscape pins. I run it down and back the other direction so each pot has two lines on it. I then hook it to the drip system so I don’t have to water. I held 25 boxwood for a whole summer here in Florida, and they came through beautiful.
Wisteria responds to a hard pruning by blooming here in south Mississippi. You might try that. Your videos are the first ones I watch in the mornings. They are both informative and inspiring. Thank you for everything you bring to the people who enjoy your videos.
It has NOT looked horrible!! You had a clean slate to start on which is something I wish I had. Also around the house it is beautiful!! There are some cool things like the huge tree digger that you had to plant the huge trees. You can’t do things like that without some empty space. Love your content and your garden 🙌🫶
Your channel really inspired me when I did my own backyard wedding to grow flowers from seed as opposed to just buying. I could see very small weddings at your house. Also not all weddings go into night, or have the reception at the same space as where they got married. I could see baby or bridal showers at your house too. If you needed extra income it might be an idea, you would just place a limit of people and a time frame.
I top dressed all of my planters with Land and Sea Compost this year; what a game changer! My flowers have never before looked this spectacular. Thank you for all of your excellent advice!
Interesting about the seed bank. My wife use to work for the Southern African Development Corporation (SADC) and there is a seed bank around 1hour outside the city Lusaka in Zambia. On touring the facilities she said they needed to wear PPE clothing and the seeds were in a temperature controlled facility in old style deep dive fridges. She watch the episodes with me and this triggered interesting memories for her.🤗🤗🇿🇦
27:38 oh Laura, I heard your heart sink here. Hugs! Everything will fall into place. I totally feel your frustration with the circumstances around the Hartley. Completely understand!! 🙏🏼
I've always enjoyed your recap videos . 😀 Love your channel , garden advice . 💝💝💝 Praying for contined recovery & healing for your mom . 😍 Have a wonderful & Blessed day . 💗
Coming from TX it is hard for us to water on a consistent basis. I am on a well but you have to worry about burning it up. Amazing when we let the hose drizzle on bushes how much better they do. We have to water sparingly this season. I just had my foot rebuilt in March. It does take a year to recover. I am up and going. The doc told me that swelling will be my biggest problem during this time. Bless your mom. My prayers are with her. Obviously, like with anything, there is the ugly stuff and the good stuff. You are teaching us by your experience.
Just cut down a 25 year old Wisteria, but still have to dig up all the roots and constant runners before planting an evergreen there. So invasive and constant maintenance when there are way too many others things that need to be done in the gardens! Novelty definitely wore off. It’s like a toddler that grows up to a giant, but wants to always run into traffic.
Oh what an idea being a wedding venue, I think if you asked your neighbors what their thoughts on this were, I think you might be surprised! Having a garden wedding in Spring or Fall would be amazing at your place, magical and beautiful ❤️ Thank you for all that you all do, I look forward to binge watching on Saturday and the recap Sunday afternoon is my favorite day of the week! Prayers for your families always ❤️
Laura and Aaron, have you considered having a home school situation with neighbors and community members? I know someone who did this and it's going so well! The home school is at an independent location ( because no one house had enough room in their home) & hired an excellent teacher who preferred to teach outside of the public school system. I imagine that there are other parents who are aware of the education situation & would jump on this opportunity. You could limit the grades involved too. You probably will need a board of directors at some point & Aaron could be the Director, he'd be so great at that! Just an idea to mull over. Or, your Church could provide a preschool and the lower grades like (1-3) initially. Thanks for all that you do for us. I'm praying for your Mom and your crops too. 💜 MaryAnne in New Mexico 🌵🌶️
Home school. You have help with children now, why not make some lesson plans part of that. You and Aaron could divide and conquer the curriculum. So much safer and allows you to teach Christian principles.
Hey, chemistry teacher here! Chelation is the process of giving a molecule "claws" (chelate: Latin, "claws") by changing its structure. The 'claws' are able to grab onto a metal ion (like iron) and bond with it, so the iron goes where you want it to go.
When you originally posted about your flower shed someone commented a "robin's egg blue" paint color would be nice and I thought to myself "Yes! Or a pale seafoam green..." and the color you showed today is kind of a perfect combination of both those colors. (At least that's how it looks on my computer.) I personally love it!
You are the sweetest people and no matter what the weather, you do an excellent job. Sending healing prayers for your mom, Laura for a speedy recovery. So appreciate all you do💗
When I was a little girl in San Diego, CA, my grandmother had a gorgeous mophead hydrangea occasionally it was blue, but most of the time it was pink due to the alkaline soil. She always kept it in full shade under a tree similar to a weeping willow. (I think it was in the same family as the pepper tree, but I've never found out what it was.) It was in a huge half-barrel and was well loved. It was always a mass of blooms (which I was NEVER allowed to cut!) A good memory. Back then San Diego was zone 8, now it is zone 10. Think of the two e's in peek as eyes. That will help you remember which one is which! :)
YES! That's what I was going to suggest for PEEK vs PEAK. Another way you can remember is that the A in peak is like a mountain peak, the way it's shaped!
Your poor mom!!!! Bless her heart. Prayers for her quick recovery. I understand the setbacks when your a little older just takes awhile to recover but she just had her back surgery not to long ago. My , my. I’m glad you guys are keeping an i on her. I know she probably doesn’t want the attention but so glad y’all are giving her the extra help. 🥰. Such a blessing to have family close.
It used to make me so sad to think about you ever moving from this house but now I'm thinking that it would be amazing to see you start from scratch at a whole new place. You can move wherever you want as long as you keep Garden Answer going LOL.
Great recap, as always! Sorry to hear about the water issue with the Hartley. I think you both handle the disappointment perfectly. You are rightly frustrated and gracefully look at your successes. May blessings continue to rain down on you.
Love these Sunday morning coffee and highlights!! Aaron and Laura you are on the exact right thought with Dianthus. It's my mom's favorite flower. First flush then shear and it will rebloom again mid summer(not as dramatic) and attempt again too depending on last frost date. ETA- "And back to the chicken coop", my heart broke for the sound of your voice. God Bless you Laura, the throws of demo/rebuild of infrastructure. Could you potientally place some of the box woods in areas that are safe zone? Good luck with you're garden tribulations as always. ❤
I can so relate to the "is this your forever" Q and conversation that ensued. My husband & I built a little house (in a beach community) as a weekend house almost 20 years ago & we lived full time in the city. After our son turned 4 and we didn't like the school options we decided to move to our little beach house. It has been hard for me (being a city girl) but our son has thrived. And when you're kids are happy- you're happy. I actually found a passion for gardening whilst living in this house. And have been developing the gardens throughout the last 10 years. We are staying another 4 years for his high school (3 towns over) & will always keep our house but may not live here full time. Moving here has been a blessing! I completely understand where Laura & Aaron are coming from. Most of us can! Staying practical is the best way to live life imo (keep being practical dreamers). 🙌 💚
Ugh. I feel for your mom! She and I, I would guess, are about the same age and 5 weeks ago, I fell and broke my left foot. I was running down my front steps to turn the soaker hose off one zone to turn it on another and just went tumbling. No surgery, but am non-weight bearing for 8-12 weeks depending on healing rate. AND....we had just finished re-landscaping our front and one side yard in April and last fall we re-landscapped the back and the other side yard. I can't tend to all the new plantings and my husband is having to do manage everything...keeping things watered in this extreme heat and humidity. (zone 7a in TN). I'm glad your mom has a lot of folks checking in on her and I'm sure no one will let your parents beautiful garden suffer. But, I know how she must want to get going again. I know I do!!! Healing prayers for her!
I have for past 6 years using compost in place of mulch. It looks great, makes the plants pop, feeds plants, and leaf removal in the Fall is easier and eliminates loss of mulch when raking. You have made a good decision for your gardens.
Laura and Aaron since people frequently ask for videos that are dedicated such as a bulb tour, would it be possible to take clips as example of the planting and as the season progresses small clips of each area as they are in their prime showing. Then at the end of the season put the clips together for a “bulb tour” likewise it might be absolutely lovely to do something like that for how the garden has grown and changed this year like a yearly recap longer video with footage you have taken during the year? Maybe a winter project since I’m sure it would take quite some time and editing might be intense.
Hi Aaron! Answer to your question :”how do people find what they want (in a video) without watching the full video”. When putting up your videos, it would be helpful under the description to add in a short paragraph about what was done in the video. What varieties were planted and such. This makes it so when someone searches “garden answer black lace” they would find all the videos where Laura talks about black lace elderberries. They would maybe have to guess at the time stamps, unless you also wanted to add those onto the video. I know this is so much extra work, but would be super helpful when searching for specific videos on your channel. Thanks!
Good morning!! Love these recaps! Your property is absolutely beautiful. You have come so far developing the grounds. It doesn’t seem like things are getting done quick enough for you but that’s the way things go. I feel you have accomplished so much in the time I’ve been watching your videos. Fast or slow I will keep watching.
Good morning, Laura & Aaron ☕️ Another great recap. Glad to hear your mom is on the mend! Bummer about the water issue with the Heartly 😐 but, keep the Faith. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 for that Maple 🍁 tree. Have a Blessed Day 😊🐈
Greetings, Laura and Aaron, from Windermere Florida zone 9b USA 🇺🇸 95° F with humidity in the 70's%. I worked in the Garden for a couple hours this morning and I feel drained. August is even hotter! But the end is in sight. Hang on and soon we will be through summer ☀️ Happy Gardening Everyone 👩🌾👍
Glad to hear someone else is having "issues" with the trades doing projects this summer. I've had fencing and painting projects go "not as planned", and need to be redone. I relate to your frustrations! A lot of heartache, and many sleepless night...hang in there.
Could you do a video to show how you check to see if your drip lines are working? Do you dig in the soil, do a finger poke in the dirt? I think many of the lines are covered with the mulch so you wouldn’t see the water coming out.
Behind the chicken coop video was one of my faves you've done b/c it was so satisfying seeing how aggressive you can be cleaning out a bed. As a new learner, I"m so afraid to cut too much or clear out too much b/c I'm afraid it won't grow back. I really enjoyed that video.
In Australia the Government can forcibly purchase your house and relocate you when they are widening or putting in new roads. It’s heartbreaking when heritage houses and buildings are demolished. I felt that deep sigh, we can see you’re trying so hard to be positive and not frustrated about the Hartley and planting being delayed. It’s going to happen and it’s going to be amazing, trust things are happening as they should x.
my mom had a chapel in the in the woods up on her land in door county, wis (21 acres on a woodland protected sanctuary) - There was a winding path (wood chipped) to it. It was (and is) a log chapel and she put a sign she made out of drift wood on it : Lady of the woods as well as a cross on the entrance - two pull out wood doors and had a beautiful stained glass window (larger) that a friends son had made.- 6 little wood benches and a place for people to put their special notes for loved ones. (very special). There has been weddings and baptisms there (very tiny of course) - you would never know the chapel was there from the road. She no longer owns it but the residents in this area still care for it.
Regarding hearing things like the County Fair, my parents bought a home that backed up the the football field of the local high school and the stands for the field backed up to their property. They got to hear everything that went on including games, drum and bugle corp competitions, etc. They really liked it alot. They considered it built in entertainment for their summers.
Love all your videos but especially enjoy these highlights. It’s nice to hear from the both of you sharing little stories along the way. You have made such tremendous progress and have way more patience than I would have lol. Thank you for sharing!
Wow! We owned a Dry Cleaning Shop in our town, retired and sold our business to our friend who worked for us and her sister. We kept the building. They ran it for several years, then the state and our town came in and said we’re going to buy your store for making the highway road that gos out of town bigger so we can develop more property for a grocery store. Our friends had to move and rent a much higher priced building. We could get an appraiser, but they said they’re only going to pay us X amount of dollars. So we didn’t get an appraiser because they’re so expensive. You have to know, the rent from our building was part of our retirement too. When we went in to settle the buy out, they didn’t give us nearly enough for our building for what it was worth, plus we owned the property it was sitting on too. They said take it or leave it, you could have gotten your own appraiser. But we said we didn’t because you said you wouldn’t take anything more than what they were offering. Anyway, we got screwed. For all the work you’ve done to your property and for the safety of the kids, I pray that never happens to you guys. I always said I’d hate for you guys to move, but if they did that, then I wouldn’t stay. It’s so sad to hear that because your place is beautiful. I’d fight it if it ever happened. Pray it never does.
That happened to my parents in our small town. They only pay so much. Take it or leave it. If you don't take it they use eminent domain and get it anyway. There is a historic post office that was on half the block that was saved (thank goodness).
So sorry!!! Heartbreaking and a land grab. This situation hanging over Laura and Aaron's property is disconcerting to say the least. Due to their family living close by it is so difficult for them to move but it is in their best interests to keep that option in mind.
Lol yep! I have a Toyota Corolla and many times I have layed the back seat down and hauled stuff running from the trunk area all the way up to the driver seat or in between the two front seats!
Oh love the recaps xx Laura you could never sound down you are such an upbeat and positive person xxx Aaron oh I wish I lived near you “you’d have to be done by 9pm” oh my neighbours party until 3am despite the fact my husband, a Doctor is up at 5.30am and doesn’t come home until 9pm !!!! Your videos have kept me going on days when my positivity has all but deserted me so thank you xxxCan I move next to you both please 🙏 xxxMuch love to all the family special hugs to your Mum xxx
There ARE a lot of beautiful things happening. Don’t get too down on big trees. It can work, we had a massive London Plane transplanted in our Western Washington garden. It was at least 40 feet and is beautiful now. It took about three years for it to really hit it’s stride, whereas we planted a smallish purple beech in the front garden as a specimen tree. Year 1 it held, year two it leafed out well, year three it hardly leafed out, year 4 it was dead. Ugh, one of my all-time gardening regrets (that we lost it, not that we planted it). Now we live in an zone that is too warm for a purple beech. It’s on my bucket list now. 🌳
So glad that I found you during Covid. It gave me a sense of direction. I used your information about iron for plants this year. I had a very yellow ash tree and the EDDHA iron worked so well! I felt very accomplished.
My Dad always used to say “If you want something done right you have to do it yourself.” I never truly understood that until I bought my first house. I feel your pain with the water pipe screwup into the Hartley. It is so so so frustrating when you hire a “professional” and they make a mistake that you would have caught. It has led to me learning to do a lot of things myself. But you can’t always do everything, and occasionally have to put your trust in professionals. After being in so many situations like this, it’s hard to trust anyone to do their job right. Hoping it gets fixed quickly and soon becomes a distant memory! I’m so excited to see the area around the Hartley develop; I got excited even just hearing about your plan :)
Laura and Aaron, we all experience setbacks and disappointments. I appreciate that you show how you really feel about the day to day ( to weeks 😟) happenings in your gardens. It’s real and there is no “show” to what you do. I think you’ve been amazing at sharing how hard, amazing, frustrating, and beautiful gardening can be on any scale or level. Thanks for being you and taking us all along for the ride. 🚜 💐
My friends call an addition or poorly done add-ons to an old house "re-muddling" rather than remodeling. And I think it's your adjoining neighbors that are extremely lucky as your plans give them a park-like view to overlook. I'm in a rural farming zone with 'right to farm' laws, which makes it rather the wild west when it comes to what people can or cannot do on their properties. So the sword cuts 2 ways whatever the zoning. As to spelling, there's peek, peak & pique! LOL. UGH! That's heartbreaking about the Hartley water...
SMALL OAK LEAF HYDRANGEAS: I have three ‘Ruby Slippers’ hydrangeas. 3-4’ x 4-5’. Their third season in they have leafed out beautifully and I had 4-5 blooms on each plant. The blooms start cream then age pink. I never got the deep ruby yet but they are young.

Sorry, I will never believe that!
I know you worry about being negative, but you are real. So many of us have plants, trees, and walkways that are not quite right and need to deal with it. Your vast experience and so many ongoing examples help all of the viewers. Thank you for the honesty and the balance.
LOVE Aaron’s FULL DISCLOSURE OF HIS TRUE THOUGHTS...... “WE WERE HERE FIRST!”🤣🤣
Yes, you have seniority rights.
I just want to let you know how much I thoroughly enjoy the Sunday recap videos. I feel like I am having morning coffee with my friends. ❤️
Good Morning Friend 😊✨🤍
Same here.
Totally like having a standing weekly visit from friends that is looked forward to no matter what else us on the agenda!
@@DebzZi oh yes @Debbie Zim me also☕️✨🤍🥰
Hi friend!!!
@@AB-ol5uz I know, my heart dropped. I have felt that kind of disappointment. 😪
Hi! What a beautiful picture you've on your profile just decided to stop by and say hi. I hope you like my compliment 😊🌹
You have such a beautiful family, home and garden space filled with possibility, how could you not be grateful?❤️✌️👏 Anticipation.....see you again next time
Love you guys, just reminding you that you are affirmed and loved
My husband and I bought the property across from us( a small plot, 2.25 acres) just to stop a house going in across from our home. We cleared it, left beneficial trees, planted trees..but we've also in the last 3 years, created a community garden on that land..this coming spring we will have 2 additional families starting new there. Much more beautiful visually and by heart seeing that vs a house blocking a beautiful natural woodline of very old trees💕
🪴No, you're not coming across as negative or "bummed out about everything" Laura. I think it's very helpful to hear about any problems you've come across from your experiences.
Woo-hoo! Sunday morning coffee with Laura & Aaron. A nice break from chasing rabbits out of my sweet potato patch 🐰
😥 Oh gosh, your poor Mom. Sending prayers her way for a faster healing *& smooth sailing through the process.
Had me smiling at all the effort to mask frustration.😊 Grace in the face of adversity!! All is well sweet lady.
Love you all and your family! Please let your Mom know that she is in my thoughts and prayers! She is such a sweet lady. 🙏🏼❤️
Hugs to your Mom, I broke my ankle 7 months ago at the age of 64. Cast 5 wks, boot 3 wks then a brace. It was rough for a few months but almost fully recovered now.
God bless mom. Glad she has you to help her. You are a good daughter.
Hi! What a beautiful picture you've on your profile just decided to stop by and say hi. I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊🌹
Hi! What a beautiful picture you've on your profile just decided to stop by and say hi. I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊🌹
It is good to hear you all talk about what you had to do way back when. It makes you human and more like real life. Keep doing what you do.

Good 🌄 Morning, everyone! We hope you have a fantastic Sunday! 😀
Making the pallet walkway was one of the first videos I watched. I've been hooked ever since.
My Nannie always stored her seeds in the freezer… I’ve planted some this year that she gave me 10 years or so ago!
You probably will need a board of directors
at some point & Aaron could be the Director, he'd be so great at that!
I agree wholeheartedly with both of you! 🙋🏻♀️👏👏

Hi! What a beautiful picture you've on your profile just decided to stop by and say hi. I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊🌹
Your poor mom!!!! Bless her heart. Prayers for her quick recovery. I understand the setbacks when your a little older just takes awhile to recover but she just had her back surgery not to long ago. It used to make me so sad to think about you ever moving from this house but now I'm thinking that it would be amazing to see you start from scratch at a whole new place. You can move wherever you want as long as you keep Garden Answer going LOL.
My smile of the day - I am painting my garage/potting shed evergreen fog this weekend!!!! So excited!!
Ooooh! I love the Sherwin Williams Evergreen Fog!!! So prettyyyyyyy! 😍
Great recap, as always! Sorry to hear about the water issue with the Hartley. I think you both handle the disappointment perfectly. You are rightly frustrated and gracefully look at your successes. May blessings continue to rain down on you.
I love the interaction between you two. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us.
Prayers for you too!
I have for past 6 years using compost in place of mulch. It looks great, makes the plants pop, feeds plants, and leaf removal in the Fall is easier and eliminates loss of mulch when raking. You have made a good decision for your gardens.
Sorry for your mom. I had a similar brake . It took me a year to recover . Physical therapy is a key. All the best to your mom

Glad to hear someone else is having "issues" with the trades doing projects this summer. I've had fencing and painting projects go "not as planned", and need to be redone. I relate to your frustrations! A lot of heartache, and many sleepless night...hang in there.
I just love you and Aaron! Y’all are just an amazing couple.
They can do that here, too. (Forcefully buy someone’s property for public purposes such as road building. Here it’s called, “Imminent domain “. 🥺
my mom had a chapel in the in the woods up on her land in door county, wis (21 acres on a woodland protected sanctuary) - There was a winding path (wood chipped) to it.
Great attitude! I would hate it!
Even through all your hardships in working your property you always remain positive and optimistic. God blissings

Great news on Mom’s successful surgery…. May she heal quickly🙏🏼
We call having to work with someone else’s construction that is poorly done,” the Stupid’s do construction”
Love the term!
Sounds beautiful!
