    I need to tell you that after the death of my daughter I started to suffer with servere depression, I could not even get out of bed for a very long time. Discovering your channel two years ago, your posts have given me the motivation to get outside and revamp my garden. I receive so much joy from seeing things grow and now I am able to smile and really mean it. Laura and Aaron you do not know what you have done for me, saved my life almost. Also the plants you have introduced to me are such a lovely surprise, Hostas Heucheras and tiarellas are not common plants grown here in Melbourne Australia. I love them so much. Thank you Laura, I will always be so grateful to you for helping me get my life back.

    Laura, when you say that you didn’t go to school for garden design you’re ignoring the years of “schooling” that you got growing up and working at your parents garden center. And then you built an incredibly successful UA-cam channel with over a million subscribers. You’re probably more experienced in practical landscape garden design than most working landscape designers. Don’t sell yourself short.
    You always give credit to Aaron for handling the technical side of your channel, but everything else? That’s all you, my friend.

      I understand what she means, though, as far as needing to see something as it's developing in order to know what she wants to do next. I am the same. I'm not nearly nearly as experienced as Laura, but I've been asked a couple of times to give garden design advice to people, and nope. I *could* do it. But not well and not enjoying it. So, I don't see it as her selling herself short, more just knowing what she likes doing and is good at.

    Quick thought on the merch. Instead of selling the actual 5 gallon buckets, maybe you could sell a vinyl wrap that we can buy and put on our own 5 gallon buckets? That way it wouldn’t be so expensive to ship but we can still romance the ordinary. 😊 Just a thought.

    I was also not allowed to have a Nintendo or any game console growing up. I hated it at the time because "all my friends have one!" but I look back on it now and I realize it was such a blessing from my parents. I spent my childhood days running around our farm and learning all about plants and animals from my dad (hearing the memories he had from growing up on the same farm.) I know now I was so lucky and I have wanted a small farm of my own since I was 14. Any child who gets to experience life in the country is truly blessed. There is nothing else like it in the world!

    I have loved houseplants and gardening all my life since a child with my Moms garden and flowers. My guy is new to it and watching your videos together has educated him about plants and he goes to Garden centers and nurseries with me and spots the Proven Winner pots faster than me. Such joy...♥️🙂 Just to let you know we bought and planted one Autumn Blaze Maple Tree on our 5 acres and 5 Limelight Hydrangeas just because of you. I can’t stop smiling🙂💗Thank you for your information , inspiration and love of gardening... He built 3 raised beds for vegetables this year and looking forward to more. I am so grateful for you and your inspiration. 🙂Thank you Aaron and Laura for sharing your life and experience. My all time favorite UA-cam channel for over 5 years. I love every video. Thank you for everything it means a lot. Loving you from zone 8 North Texas🙂💗 You are
    Living the dream with your property and your parents garden center. So amazing!!!

    Hi I’m not sure if this will get to you or not but Ms. Carlene Thompson , you can go to your local grocery store, (in the bakery department) and ask if they have any buckets that they would like to get rid of. Most of the time the bulk frosting they get comes in 5 gallon buckets, they are food grade and free. You can spray paint them or cover the outside with fabric. Just make sure you drill some holes in the bottom like any other bucket.

      Our local grocery store's bakery lets us get frosting buckets at no charge. We just have to clean them.

    Auger tip. To prevent expense of multiple big augers, I use a 4”auger and drill 3 holes next to each other in a circle. Those big drills are pricey so I save twice. Once for the auger and again on the industrial size drill. Wish I’d had one of these years ago. They are a dream come true.

    • @annehedlund7333
      @annehedlund7333 3 роки тому +1

      Great idea to do three holes but with the smaller auger sort of like Laura was saying it also fluffs up the edges so that the plant doesn't exactly fill up the hole.

    First gotta love Russell and this was the best Russell ever. He made me laugh. Second I loved the reminiscing about growing up. I’m old enough to be your mother and that’s how I grew up..outside making my own fun...sad that most people younger than you can’t imagine the joy of that kind of childhood. Oh and yes, I’ve been laid flat by running into an electric fence....man did that hurt! Lastly, I worked at our local Master Gardener plant sale today and met a women wearing a Garden Answer t-shirt and Vanns just like yours. I immediately made a new friend. I need to get my t-shirt ordered ASAP! You are such an inspiration...not to mention the fuel to my plant buying and quest for a beautiful garden. Thank you. ♥️🪴🪴🪴🪴.

    I love the style of this Highlight. It felt like such a natural conversation, with you and Aaron equally participating. Also, you gave us all a better glimpse of the both of you --- how you grew up, your thoughts and feelings on different things, with the both of you sharing your opinions on how things are different today than they were when you were younger. It was very interesting and heartfelt, unrehearsed, and candid. That is what makes your channel truly the best. Not only do we learn about gardening, garden design, irrigation, equipment, project management, etc., but we get to escape for a little while and spend time with an extension of our own families. Thanks for providing wholesome, family oriented education and for being there every day for your viewers.

    I had 58 3 gallon sprinters from Creekside nursery we purchased the big auger from Proven winners and the drill suggested 20 v hammer drill. I am 69 and love it! We have red clay and it fluffs the soil when dry. Great purchase.😁

    Speaking of the internet, everything in moderation. But yes, I grew up long time before you and spent every daylight hour outside playing. Drinking from a waterhose and the street lights coming on was our cue to go inside. There was a closeness with your neighbor back then. Not as much violence and conflict. Oh, for the good Ole days! 🥺😊

    Oh my word! You're discussion about doing landscape design just spoke to me. Like you, I do it at an "amateur" level for my husband's landscaping company and while I actually enjoy it, I definitely know the frustration of designing something and then the customer (who had no idea what they wanted in the first place) wants to change things all around or requests things that you're sure are going to look a mess. Obviously I love watching your garden evolve and get so much knowledge and inspiration from you, but I also love how relatable you are. Thank you for always being so authentic. I love you guys.
