    That was me!! I bought the fountain! I live in Northwest Florida in the Panhandle of the State. The fountain actually arrived yesterday and it's already set up an running! I LOVE IT! So do my cats - they think it's a super amazing drinking fountain for them!! Thank you for the tour of the Garden Center. I've actually seen several items in the tours and called the store and purchased them. Your family is awesome to ship to the other side of the country and do it with such cheer and good humor!

    Writing a book may be something to consider 20 or 30 years from now when your children are grown and all your trees are mature and all the gardens are established and you’re looking for a winter project. Right now enjoy every moment with your children…..there are never enough (or too many) moments. Every moment is precious. The early years are absolutely the best. Those preschool years when you have them all to yourselves and they are discovering things and learning language are so incredibly magical and joyous. Did you ever think before you had children that you could just spend hours watching them and soaking up every movement and expression and feel so much love and pleasure and happiness? Enjoy every second of this time with your little ones for it will pass too quickly, but it will give you the most wonderful memories of your life. When you’re old and tired and can’t physically do what you can now, that’s when to consider writing a book…..if it seems like something you want to do. Stay true to yourself.

      Vivian Howard, chef on Saturday Tv wrote a cookbook and has small twins. It took her over two years and she gave up a lot of time with them to do so. Seemed to me from what she said that it might not have been as worth it as she thought, even tho it was want she always wanted to do in her career. The book sells for 70 bucks, but I don’t know how it is doing.

      And the positive memories your children will remember after they grow up! Memories you are able to share for years to come...and grand
      babies. I know you have little time...but a diary..or lg calendar help keep track of specific things your little ones say or do. Unless you have a photographic memory...you will forget specifics.
      Lol..just ask your mom! Love your joy of sharing and keeping it real! Especially enjoy episodes with Erin and your mom..garden and laughter are the best!

Prices are fluctuate greatly. Buy what you love and can tolerate in your budget. I have also coveted a chair for years and finally made an offer. The seller took my offer! Other times I have gone back after some thought and the item was gone! That is how it works.

    Morning, Laura and Aaron! Thanks for mention. Unfortunately I know the trials and tribulations of gardening with deer very well. In fact a new garden area that I’m working on this year is a bit farther from the house, which means that there will be more deer pressure. The No. 1 requirement for the plants there is deer resistance.

      We live in a rural/suburban area in Western NY. The back of our property has a protected area between our road and a plaza that is behind us. It's a deer haven! We have so many deer. Last week we counted 12 at once. We also feed a lot of birds so the deer see that as free dinner. In winter we have to fence off half of our yard and they still manage to get at things. I was so distressed on a recent walk through to find my 2 yr old Berry Poppins plants chomped on by these "rats with antlers" as my husband terms them. It's a constant battle.

    Sweden has 8 different garden zones! the difficult thing is that they are reversed in the sense that zone 1 is the mildest one. From what I understand from Google the Swedish zone 1 is equal to US zone 7B

    • @GardenKath

      Yes I was very surprised how varied the temps are in Sweden. It makes sense as the country is more long then wide😆 I have a Swedish friend and in the south it can be quite warm. I used to follow some Swedish blog accts and would be jealous of all the lovely non hardy plants they were displaying outside of their shops.

    • @ontarioyamon
      @ontarioyamon 2 роки тому +4

      Well this whole discussion about plant hardiness has me now thinking … and researching. 😊 A while back there was some mention about England’s hardiness zone being like 10 and I thought “No way!” because England is much further north (latitude wise) than me in SW Ontario Canada (zone 6a) so it didn’t make sense to me … but sure enough, Great Britain does range from US zones ~8 through 10! Who knew! The surrounding waters create a temperate buffer.
      The internet says “Most of the United Kingdom is located in USDA zone 9, although climates as chilly as zone 8 or as mild as zone 10 aren’t uncommon. As a general rule, the UK is marked primarily by cool (but not frigid) winters and warm (but not scorching) summers. The UK enjoys a fairly long frost-free season that extends from early spring to late autumn.”

    • @maynardgreenhouse
      @maynardgreenhouse 2 роки тому +3

      @@ontarioyamon I was surprised too that they enjoyed warmer winters. There is one small section in the middle of the Uk that is zone 6. It was while watching a gardeners world episode where someone in London was growing tropical plants in his back yard that it finally hit me. I thought he was moving his plants in some kind of greenhouse and thought wow they’re so big. Duh
      No wonder the Vikings wanted to invade England 😳🙄

    After living in an old farm house and renovating room to room for !20 years. We had three baby's during that and by the time we finished we were ready to move on and down sizing. Our kids were grown and moving away.
    My advice is, do it sooner rather than later, incompass all the work you wish to have done and hire a contractor.
    Doing it sooner is like planting trees, when it's done you'll wish you hadn't waited.

I found a Santa painted on cloth on top of wood, very unique piece (I felt) and loved it it was about $20 and a few weeks later o found an angel in a similar style at a different place for $5 so maybe one person got more than they should have or one person got less than they should have but I’m happy to have these two complimentary pieces ❤️ I love the antiquing videos because you help inspire me to use items in different ways like bowls for flowers or candle stick styling etc love it all plus love seeing you and your mom interact :)

    A calendar is a great idea! Have you ever considered that not everyone has access to electronics or technology, so a book would be awesome. A chapter on your favorite perennials with the description you offer and the care of each plant. Pick 10 of your favorites for your first book. The other chapters can be your annuals, then your trees, your favorite fertilizers, and tools. I think that would be great. A person can just open the book and plant. I think you'd be very successful. I follow your guide now, and my garden is really growing and improving, and I get so many compliments on my plants, all thanks to you! ❤❤❤

    It’s true that even antique prices vary a lot by location. However, one way I get a feel for what a good deal on a antique or vintage item is when I am out shopping is by watching other people shopping on UA-cam. I watch a few channels in France, where antiques (especially furniture, and very old items) are plentiful and often a much lower price than than the same items in the states! But it still helps me know what’s out there and what types of prices I could be looking for. I totally agree with not really saying plant prices, though!
    And Aaron is so right about old houses. I think any older house has these type of problems, unless they were owned for 100 years by master craftsmen builders! The worst is when NEW homes have those kind of structural problems, then you need Holmes on Holmes!

    Thank you Laura for answering my questions! Watching your videos is so fun for me and such a great learning opportunity. I love what y’all do and please keep doing it! Because of you my future husband and I plan on doing all of the landscaping ourselves for the house we are building for when we get married in October. Hopefully it’s a garden that would make you proud!

    Oh yes, Home Depot plants (mums this year, Asiatic Lilies last year) gave my pest-free garden aphids and white grubs. When you pull them out of their containers and see them is why I like the return policy!

    Not complaining, Just reporting! I totally understand. Here in America we are so blessed that when we see something in our life that we would want to change, it sometimes sounds like complaining. Now I say reporting, not complaining. Also how anyone would hear you as a complainer is beyond belief. Your kindness and generosity are truly inspiring.

    Good morning! Love seeing parts of the inside of your home and how you decorate, would it be possible
    To see a small tour of your moms home inside? “President Room” ? That would be so interesting to see
    How she decorated it.

    I'm honestly really envious of anyone who can gets to Mackinac Island's Grand Garden Show this year. My husband and I were thinking of going but, with the Australian / American exchange rate being so poor and what with travel and quarantine measures being so unpredictable, we cannot risk loosing all of of our savings should we not make it due to COVID-19. If you're going, take a tour for me. I cannot wait to see any and all video tours that come of the grand event. It would be a dream come true to attend and even meet Laura and Aaron some day.

    I tried seed starting last year for the first time and it was a total fail. I was so discouraged I said never again. Thank goodness my other half didn’t throw the trays away! This year I was inspired by the seed starting videos and got a shelving suit and a good grow light and will try again! I’m excited to start. Thank you for not only inspiring the first time but encouraging to try again when the first time is a fail 💜💜

    On the question about the weirdest critter found in a plant. I was loading some plants into my car and looked down at a red yucca as I picked it up and saw a small snake looking at me. Luckily it was small Brown Dekays which is non venomous but just imagined I might have run off the road if It had slithered out when I was driving 😳!

    Not from Sweeden, Norwegian viewer here. I think comparing to northern US, or south Canada is right. So interesting about the growing zones. I'm in a zone 4/5 in Norway. I get so inspired your videos because I can find most of the plants you use in my local garden centre. Our winter is a little colder, and a lot longer than yours, and our summer's are colder(max 30°celcius), wett and shorter. But we can grow the same stuff because you also deal with frost! That's amazing to me since you're high dessert😂 Thank you for all the great videos!

    I think Aaron inadvertently gave the idea for your book. My favorite garden books are the ones that follow A Year in Our Garden type theme. It would follow well with your UA-cam videos. As Aaron said, “here’s what we did today.” The book could be 12 chapters and follow whatever happened that month, be it ordering seeds, foraging for holiday decorations (how to make a wreath), right through the busy garden season. Not tips for every garden, just what happens in your garden in one year. I’d buy it for sure!

    I like that you don't go out of your way to vanish a tripod or cut out a TV monitor. It interests me to see some of the behind the scenes equipment that goes into producing your fantastic material. My husband is all "you should start a UA-cam channel". Uhuh. I can write and blog just fine but I don't have the skills or desire to learn and excel at videography. It fascinates me to see the cooperation between Laura and Aaron and how their individual strengths came together to create this super rewarding and enjoyable collaboration. And I always note when Laura says "we need to bring home this that and the other thing" and Aaron's face shows that his brain just started ticking away at all the new footage that is going to generate.
