Cute lizard cage! I like how it looks like a little house with the little couch.
That is such an adorable enclosure.
Dandelions and edible flowers! My beardie loved them!
Thank you so much for the info. Your reptile's are precious. 😊
thank you so much for the video :)
“He’s got to bread it before he eats it.” 😂😂
Thank you so much that should’ve gotten way more views because this will help me so much in the future!!!
Hi! Good work on the video. Those tips are sure to help me in time. I have Rankins Dragons which are cousins of the Beardeds and I found a couple of tricks. One is bee pollen to the food. The other is to put some water between their eyes just above the nose. The water dribbles down and for some reason drinking the water makes them want food. No clue. A bath before food seems to help as well. It all depends on the dragon. I have to say that I liked this video and it is very helpful to newcomers and further. Keep it up! I subscribed to you and I will be watching more. I like your personality, your voice is sweet to listen to, and you have good information. We can also see your love for your animals. Thank you for being a positive person in the exotic community!
Thank you so much! We're really glad you're enjoying the content!
This is wonderful, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
So cute she has a little love seat in there lol
Nice set up on the tanks
And if this doesn’t work there is always prying your mouth open with a cucumber skin or Apple skin that’s how I fed my dragon for a while
The thumbnail of your video is so precious! I don’t own a Dragon but think they are incredible and would love to. 😊
Thank you! We really appreciate your feedback!
Thanks for the video & I love the setup! Would love a video on your enclosure & curious/ does your reptile ever poop or pee on their cloth items? If so, how do you go about cleaning? Thanks again 🥰
Yes, they do often lol! Reptiles don't pee but their "urine" comes out as a solid white substance called urate, so pee isn't a concern. However poo, yes. I used unscented baby wipes to spot clean tanks and will use those to scrape off excess poo into the trash- then, we throw them in the washer. The lady that does our couches makes them machine wash friendly! I'll add a segment in the next video about it. Thanks for watching!
Next week there will be a segment on setup!
Hi! I am in the research stage of possibly being a first-time reptile owner. I'm considering bearded dragon, uromastyx, or painted agama. Great video!
I love my beardies but contrary to popular belief I wouldn’t actually recommend them for a first time pet like other people would as they have a somewhat difficult diet where you will have to balance out veggie days and insect days if you can maintain this then sure go ahead if not I’d recommend out of your top picks to go with a uromastyx as most of these guys live strictly off veggies which is much easier.
I'd love to have a blue tongue skink. They're amazing
If you grow your own fruit n veg and you eat loads of fruit n veg like myself then Bearded dragons all the way...
The salad in the bag in the video will have been sprayed to keep it from going off and to kill any microscopic creature
I like Agama but they eat crickets however a standard box of crickets will last one lizard nearly a month and lizard and spider owner should look after crickets more so than the pet the person is feeding em too
our dragon is at least 1 year old.she gets worms somedays and greens all the other days but we have to trick her into eating greens with worms... they should not eat lettuce. or that stuff in te can. chickory.. collards, dandelion greens...peppers.. squash.. some fruit
Iceberg lettuce is terrible, but green and red leaf, butter, and some romaine is great! No spinach, it harms vitamin absorption. Squash and dandelion greens are also great, You do need to worry about pesticides and parasites with wild gathered dandelion greens though. Small amounts of certain fruits are good- raspberry, blueberry, strawberry. Prepared diets and the dragon "kibble" are a hard no. I will try and put a yes and no video together in the next couple weeks 😊
Ok where did u get the beardie furniture? My Zilly needs it!!
Reptilature on Etsy!
I mean you pretty much have to have a UVB light, but the UVA can be optional but it’s for extra health
having fabric in your enclosure harbors barteria
and hammocks have been know for causing so many injerys and loss of toes and fingers. also supports laziness
and you need a flat slate basking platform either on the far left of far right of the enclosure with a 50-100w basking bulb and your %12 +D3 arcadia uvb lined up on the same side (uvb you inky want covering 2/3rds of your enclosure)
love the video tho! great info for food
The hammocks are a solid fabric that they cannot snag in- the cloth items get washed once a week. We use 120w uva/ uvb basking lights with an additional 100w halogen and we test the uvb bulbs once a month to make sure the uvb hasn't worn out of the bulb. We keep them all super happy and healthy!
I wash the fabric very often. Also my beardie is very active and he uses his hammock while basking.
I also let him run around safely out of his enclosure.b
You probably should add that they may want to get their stool checked for parasites, that can cause them to not eat as well. I hope you have uvb lights in their cages. Doesn't look like alot of space for them
We can assure you that they have plenty of space in their enclosures- all of the adults are housed in dubia.com 4x2x2 enclosures. We also test our little ones for parasites as well have adequate UVB lights that are tested for UVB levels regularly.
Thank you so much. My daughter got a baby bearded dragon last night. He won’t eat. How long before we should start worrying? Can a baby eat those green worms?
Thank you in advance
Thank you for reaching out. Babies can be kind of unpredicatble, but when they drastically start losing weight and becoming weaker is really when you want to be worried. They cannot eat those big worms, they're too big for babies.
Hey it's Erica from A Lotl Love- I try and make sure my babies eat every day. You can buy really really small hornworms to try and entice them to eat- wax worms are good too- but try not to make a steady diet of those, they are great to stimulate eating but not nutritionally sufficient. I will film a clip on force feeding babies this week since I have 2 new ones. Also get some reptiboost and syringe feed it- it saved Penelope when I first got her. It stimulates appetite while providing nutrition
@@ericacurtis3786 thank you so much for responding. He finally started eating. I’ve been feeding him mill worms that the pet store recommended. I’m going to return them bcuz they are huge even though I asked for the small ones
my adult eats butter worms. but babies needs worms up until a certain age. try different worms. we go to N.J. exotic in lodi nj they know everything. they can answer any question you have
Relocations stress them out and in my experience not eating much the first week is fairly common. Leave them alone and let them get used to the new surroundings. Make sure your husbandry is correct and they should start eating soon assuming they are relatively healthy. When they are little babies make sure the food isn't too big.
I have a question about squash. Would it be easier for beardies to eat if it was grated?
I grate squash for my beardie, she won't touch it if it's cooked
Hiiiiiii😁
I've always been told not to feed a beardie lettuce!
How can I get my bearded dragon to eat fruits and vegetables because I can't get him to eat that I cut up fruit I cut up vegetables and put it in his dish and he doesn't even touch it even when I put mealworms in with it and then the calcium he still won't eat it
Sometimes the veggies are hard and they don't like them. I buy frozen squashes that thaw softer and cut that up or cut up veggies and steam them. Mixing worms in with it is great so continue to do that!
No spinach on the salad right ?
Correct it inhibits absorption of certain vitamins 😊
So I jist litterally adopted a full grown bearded dragon 3 days ago. I got a baby one about 4 months ago and he ended up dieing in 3 weeks despite my excessive amount of great foods and spending extra time with her and researching so much I didn't even watch TV or work.... 😢 my baby was gone I wqs so heart broken. I'm cry right now writing this.... so, the new male full grown bearded dragon was in a terrible home. No lights. Nothing In his cage but cold ass water... he's in the pent house now I PROMISE YOU GUYS. I even have a flat heater in his bath so he's not cold AT ALL. EVER. poor thing slept 6 hours when I got him home. On my pillow under my sons shirt on a heating pad.❤ so my heart is slowly being healed but for real my baby was my baby 😢 I put every moment I wqs not sleeping into her.... God I'm balling right now... thank you for the video I really appreciate your time I know how extensive and how much time and energy and money it takes for these beautiful babies 😊 sincerely your new subscriber and broken but new dragon owner 🥲 I'm sorry. I'm so heartbroken. I can't stop crying now...damn....
Oh wow, that sounds awful. So sorry to hear about this story (I was tearing up reading it -Aiden) but we're glad you found another lovely little guy to call yours. Just remember that reptiles can be tricky and things happen that aren't necessarily your fault. We send our love to you and hope that your new dragon continues to do well
Make sure he or she has a UVA and UVB light so that it doesn’t get metabolic bone disease and so it can be healthy
Where you get those little plants
Dollar Tree!!!
@@ericacurtis3786 thank you
You're welcome! It's a great place to go find things for your setup- you just gave me a video idea!!!
They need crunchy veg like raw carrots raw butternut it cleans there teeth
Totally agree for a staple diet- this video is geared toward getting a dragon that is off food back on 😊
do you experience terry eye bearded
We're not entirely sure what you mean by that, could you specify? If you meant teary, then are their eyes crusting shut?
Is it ok if I grow my own lettuce for mine?
and, is Penelope okay? She has her bones showing near her tail.
Penelope was purchased from a breeder who overbred her. We were told when the purchase was discussed on Facebook that she was 3 years old and had many good breeding seasons left. When I saw her in person I was horrified with her condition and bought her anyway to try and save her. She is parasite free but she's MUCH older than three. We feed her all the good things - she's very finicky though- and she will put on weight but never fills out over her hip bones. We have had her a year and her condition is much better but at this point we know we will never breed her and she's going to live out her golden years as our spoiled little baby ❤❤❤️
And yes, growing your own food is great! No iceberg lettuce or spinach though it is not nutrionally sound, green leaf, red leaf, and arugula are what our babies love. Also do not use chemicals- pesticides, fertilizer around it and wash it well before feeding ❤
I have 2 bearded dragons and I have some questions for you. How can I teach out to you? Instagram?
Yes! Our Instagram is @alotlloveshow and we answer questions there as well as on Facebook and even here on our comment section!
Hllo my beaded dragon is about 7 month something is rong her body is stiff and not moving a lot and onw front leg is like rowing when walk
There could be a lot of issues causing this, what is your dragon's setup like?
Standerd 1mx350 cages one heat pad one infla red lamp one lamp heater and uv light all on one side other side is cool side
She is ony lying stil little movements but her body is stiff look like shes in freeze mode
Hey, Erica here from the video- sounds like a vet visit is in order ❤
Hi
My Dragon Tupac is approaching 20 years of age
He only eats romaine regularly and occasionally meal worms crickets and once a month some strawberry. He only has a heat lamp in daylight hours and a nite time heat lamp. No uv light. I spray him with water once a month and knock on wood he's doing great. Long live Tupac
No uvb?
IF IT AIN'T BROKE - DON'T FIX IT
@tony letterel do you ever give it natural outside sunlight?
@@cornstar1253 sometimes I take him outside but not often enough maybe once a month but only in the warm months
Now what if youer dragon don't eat&die
It could be for multiple reasons, from behavior to stress to maybe even its diet.
Erica from the video here- also could be parasites. If they don't eat for a few days and normal tricks don't work- always get a vet appt
DO NOT GIVE YOUR BEARDED DRAGON LETTUCE! They need turnip greens or mustard greens but LETTUCE IS NOT PART OF THEIR DIET.
iceberg is not good for them at all, that is why we do not use iceberg lettuce. Arugula, spring mix without spinach, and greens are what we feed here
WRONG! They need raw squash and harder raw veggies because it cleans their teeth! I just learned this the hard way. I didn't feed the more firm veggies and it caused my 2-year-old to to have teeth issues so bad that she stopped eating. I had 2 choices: "assist" feed her the rest of her life, and brush her teeth or let her go to Rainbow Bridge. I did the most humane thing to do and I let her go. They need hard veggies and bugs to clean their teeth! I found this out in a recent video and unfortunately, too late! Feed raw veggies!!!
This video is geared toward getting them back on food when an owner is struggling with getting their dragon to eat. I agree with you that they need hard elements to their diet for dental health 💯- however if you have a dragon that is off food, hard food typically won't entice them to eat.
@@alotllove6723 I'm sorry I took it the wrong way simply because it can be difficult to keep a large selection of foods when you only having 1 bearded dragon. Just losing my Aspen and seeing that just set off a trigger reaction because I did 2+ years of research and only found out about "mouth issues" and I don't know how or why I missed it?! After all the videos, how? So, I really am sorry. She was the most awesome girl. I'll mention this, as well. I lost a baby dragon when her teeth? got disconnected from her jaw and she was nowhere old enough to be eating anything more than greens (well, besides bugs). If my new baby, Echo, ends up with similar issues, I'm done. The love and care that goes into a beardie and to lose is unbearable. I couldn't handle it again. I hope you understood where I was coming from. I was just expressing what I had just learned. 💯
@@EmzNotBroken1972 hey it's all good! As keepers it's awesome to exchange info and help people learn new things! I'm so sorry about your baby. I get it. I rescued an older dragon 2 years ago and lost her recently and I'm still missing her. They are just such amazing pets and companions I know it's hard. I def appreciate you helping get the word out about dental health though- it gives me an idea for doing a segment on a new video soon!
@@alotllove6723 I truly appreciate your understanding. I subbed to your channel to watch your videos. I hope to see a video about the topic we discussed because I never really knew about hard veggies and their importance. I thank you for being kind and not being harsh. Thank you so very much. I have started my new little one on squash and carrots in already so she can get used to them. Also, all the chopping and dicing was a pain! But, I found a godsend. It's only $20 and it's a Ninja chopper. Easy to use, makes the perfect size veggies and is easy to clean! Well worth the money and makes prep a snap! It works great even for greens! Just trying to help when prep feels tedious 😁
@@alotllove6723I saw the video that maybe your son did on the loss of Brian. My heart shattered. I found out just a short time beforehand and couldn't believe it. Brian was such a great person. We lived in Wisconsin when we 1st started watching him and we discussed going to see him. Wish we would have. 💔
I like how you talk to your animals. It's so annoying when people use babytalk with their animals.
using slate is really shabby . give them something to dig in .... its bad for ther joints. u can even see in the video it cant even stand properly it just slides
I feel like substrate when it comes to dragons is such a debated topic that lots of people have arguments for and against most choices. We go with tile because it is very sanitary and with having 8 bearded cleanliness is super important. I do understand where you are coming from but we do this for sanitary reasons
