      Many thanks Chris,
Just a waiting game now, as my local beach is about 35/40mins away I'm staying put until any news of lifting fishing abit more.
Can wait to get 🎣 again.
Thinking well ahead and really want to grow the channel.

Same here, no beaches local to me either, very frustrating. As for the channel, carry on doing what you are doing, it's great. 👌

How does this work when you have bait still on the hook

    • @andybowrahfishing9313

The weight of the fish still allows it to happen, or if you have a little bit of bait in the way, just use our fingers to pull it up the line away from the hook area, it's a very simple tool to use.

Bit of a newbie question but will this work with a deeper hooked fish?

    • @andybowrahfishing9313

Hi Chris, I'd say most deep hooked fish would probably struggle to be discorged, however there are now hooks and methods to reduce the amount of deep hooking, certain hooks such as circle hooks 99% of the time are in the side jaw also by noticing the bites much earlier, does reduce the chances.
The last resort, rather than rummaging around deep, I'd snip the hook off fairly quickly and fingers crossed the fish makes it.
Be mindful of how long you have the fish out of water, if incase you are going to snip the hook off.
Good luck and thanks for watching.

@andybowrahfishing9313 hi Andy, thank you very much for your reply. Very helpful information and very appreciated. I'll keep that in mind and look to switch to circles. Thanks again

Seen these types of demos before and freeing a hook from a lead weight (where the barb can’t take hold) bears no comparison to trying to unhook a wriggling, writhing 2lb dogfish that has swallowed the hook. Do a demo showing different types of fish being successfully unhooked with one of these gizmos. I like Gemini gear but not this particular piece.

Many thanks for those comments, I agree to some degree, but if I see a dogfish bite (which I tend to know fairly swiftly) i dont often allow it to completey swallow the hook - meaning I pull in quicker with less time for this to happen, ray bites I tend to give a little more time to develop and Smoothhounds are quite often taken on the top hook in the bottom jaw, within seconds.
I think the tool is very effective for what I fish for however really take on board your comments.

@@andybowrahfishing9313 thanks for the reply. My fishing involving rays (and inevitably dogs) has been revolutionised by the dongle rig. I don’t know how it works but it’s marvellous and I haven’t had a deep-hooked ray all year.

@@Slow_Horse no problem, I appreciate your comments, yes I've seen that dongle rig and have to admit almost all my hounds this year came on the top circle hook. perhaps ill give a try soon and see what happens.
