    Good advice especially with disgorger size. I often find it's mostly always just Perch that get hooked deep.

    Brilliant video which answered a debate that I have had with fishing buddies about deep hooked fish. So I have been doing the right thing after all.

    Sehr schönes Video. Kurz und verständlich erklärt. Besonders die Erklärung der verschiedenen Größen war für mich persönlich sehr hilfreich.

    The Carp Anglers on the TV should all watch your Video, which doesn't include stroking the fish, kissing it, keeping it in a sling for hours or out of the water for numerous Photos! When my Wife unhooks her fish she talks to them and asks them to stop wriggling, she insists that it works! 🤣

      "My wife the fish whisperer" could go viral as a UA-cam film.

    Thank you so much! This was my number 1 concern, what if i catch a fish and i fail to unhook it, whats the best thing to do next? Great to hear that cutting the line isn't as terrible to do as i thought it is. So far ive been able to unhook them all, but i was terrified what would happen if i dont manage to do it. This is also some of the most important information about fishing in my opinion, i dont care about catching more or bigger fish, my first priority is always to put the fish back safely, as long as im able to do that, im happy :)

    Thanks Richard great informative video. Pretty new to fishing aged 71 and each fish I catch I am paranoid about getting this wrong ad harming the fish. Caught seven today and thankfully all in the lip. Still struggling to keep line taut when the fish is restless so this will help me.

    Me and me mate had this conversation. Is it better to leave the hook in rather then harm the fish. As it turns out yes it is. Thank you x

    The big one is barbells hooks.
    I definitely have a much smoother experience unhooking baroness hooks and prefer to use surgical forceps that clamp on the hook.

    Anyone have any input on how to remove a barbed hook? I just started fishing recently and caught my first bass a couple of days ago. I was using a small barbed hook and it unfortunately took me, what felt like, a very long minute to get it out. The poor guy seemed pretty stressed out. I don't think it caused any extra damage but I just didn't like to see him suffocating and under duress.

    • @AmateurAngling
      @AmateurAngling  Рік тому

      Here in the UK, barbed hooks are no longer used in freshwater fishing. But what we did years ago, was to flatten the barb with pliers before use. This makes the hook much easier to get out. Hope this helps.

      @@AmateurAngling thanks for the response. That's a good idea. After reading your reply it also occurred to me that I could just buy some barbless hooks as well. I kind of feel dumb now haha. Thanks for making your videos, good information.

    One other thing to consider, keep your tetanus jab current, hooks + fish + fingers :-|

    You are just talking about course fish, Trout are totally different and should be unhooked in the water at all times.
