I'm very happy with my new 2020 Maxima Platinum edition, this makes my third Maxima, I had a 1996 model then a 2011 and now this one is by far the best one I've owned, all have been pearl white and tan interior. It is very elegant.
I really dig all the bells and whistles it has with all the extra cameras, and warnings makes it a fun ride!

Have anybody driven the 16 and up models? l keep hearing the same complaints over and over again. You are comparing a CVT from years ago or another model to this one? I'm sure they are not the same. Drive the car and see how it is instead of whining about the same issue over and over i mean this is ridiculous. Not all into engines but I have no issues with it. Then again I’m not comparing to anything else at the moment. My sister just traded in her 2017 Nissan Maxima for a newer one. Although i sincerely hate that damn CVT transmission, that naturally aspirated V6 engine feels so good. The vehicle is beautiful inside and out. The leather feels so soft, gauges and infotainment screen look good too.
But that engine is the star here. This is the perfect example of a V6 being more than enough power. Better than a lot of the competition hands down.

Joe man love your videos. Not sure if you knew this about the 2020 maxima or not because this review is on the SL trim, which believe it or not is one step lower then the SR. The higher trims do actually have paddle shifters which one big thing you zonked and it also has ventilated seats as well. Paddle shifters are reserved for the SR trim because of the fact that it's the designated sport trim for model. It doesnt make too much sense to have it on all the trim levels. Also, I have a CVT and have had one for the last 10 years AND it's on a nissan product and it's one of the most reliable transmission systems that I've ever had and I've had many. It may be whiny like you say sometimes but it the best on economy and reliability which is why Nissan will never go back to what they had before. It wouldn't be smart.

I don't think the wheel design looks bland at all. At 18" they look a little small though. Crazy to think that an 18" looks small these days, when just a few years ago it seems, 15" was pretty standard for family sedans and you had to go aftermarket for something larger. Then again, modern sedans all look huge in comparison. Maxima has a pretty cool and unique look. Interior is nicer than I thought as well.

I love everything about the Maxima except I thing. This car has a CVT. Good looks, good handling, well priced. This car could be great, but alas it has a CVT. CVT does not last as long as a regular automatic and cost twice as much to rebuild. A standard option or a traditional automatic would be acceptable, CVT is not. Therefore NO BUY.

Accord, Camry, Sonata are all offering it in their top trim level vehicles and this Maxima at $40,000 it needs all the latest tech, thankfully you can get this car with big discounts most of the time so really what you end up paying is between$30-35,000 which is not bad for this vehicle.

I am considering this year and model for a different reason. I am not looking for a 4 door sports car, I am looking for a 4 door family car that can move when I need it to if I am getting in and out of traffic, especially on the highways in Florida, and the interior needs to be quiet and well refined. So far its the top contender, I really did not like the Acura TLX A-Spec, that dual clutch is brutal, the Camry XSE and Avalon were just Camry's that switched from vanilla to vanilla bean, the Buick Regal GS would be a competitor if I could find more on them, and their reliability comes into question. The last competitor to this in my lineup is the Hyundai Sonata Limited, its got the gas mileage and the exterior styling is nice, excellent bang for the buck, but its gonna come down to the test drive that I will be taking after I have posted this.

@@sherrikwhiteside6107 I have not made the purchase yet, that will be in a weeks time, but its looking very much like a
MAZDA 6 Signature. I have to hand it to Mazda, they did it, a 2.5L Turbo 4cyl with 250 HP and 320 Ft/Lbs Torque with over 30 mpg highway. Excellent quality control and reliability.
There is still 1 Nissan Maxima in my list which is a 2019 Platinum with low miles but I am not sure I will be selecting it, as its all gonna come down to price and warranty.

If this car is 40k it's about 8k overpriced for what they are showing. Comparing this to anything at that 40k price point and this falls short against everything else.

Dude, CVT rules! If anyone doesn't like CVT, then simply don't buy Nissan and go drive Toyota, Honda, Mazda or whatever. There are countless CVT lovers, due to it's benefits and feel. CVT isn't for everyone.

Thanks for the review on the 2020 Maxima. But kind of confused because when you reviewed the 2019 Maxima SR you did not like the paddle shifters and on this one you wished you had the pedal shifters? Confused!! You’re reviews are great and keep doing an amazing job.
