The Nissan Maxima is a fantastic car, especially in this "Platinum" trim level. Unfortunately, it may not be enough to justify it's slightly north of $45K price tag. Decide for yourself if this car is worth it!

Mazda6 all the way because 310Lbft of torque and that gorgeous interior. Accord 2.0t is very nice too.
Also you could get a new Buick Lacrosse 300Hp V6 awd for this price if you do absolutely need a large comfy V6 sedan. They are Heavily discounted.

@UCV7nlZF-c9TrCjFD9d24U-w just saying the Avalon and the Maxima have the same HP, and both are front wheel drive, and the Avalon having the more upscale interior according o Redline Reviews, and the Avalon has a normal 8-speed Automatic and I think it weighs less, but we can both agree that both cars need AWD. Ya know what...I would've said that the Maxima was not worth the price and there's no way a front wheel drive car with a CVT can be fun, but I had one as a rental a few days ago. The Maxima is actually a VERY fun to drive and sporty car. This is coming from someone who drives an Infiniti Q50, and BMWs. This car drives REALLY well. Test drive one before you knock it. It doesn't drive like any other Nissan with a CVT.

At $45k I can get a new discounted Kia Stinger GT2 with 365HP RWD/AWD, liftback practicality and most importantly NO-CVT. (Don't tell me it's just a Kia go drive the damn thing and come back to me)
Other options are a TLX sh-AWD and a Buick Regal GS.

The Maxima really hasn't gotten the proper love that's forbears did since the 1995-1999 model. Every model after that has been a slow decline in quality, reliability, and general effort from Nissan.

Nutritional Chemistry I agree, we’ve had maxima’s as our family car since 97. Our last one was a 09 maxima fully loaded which we bought brand new with 0 miles. 1 year after that we traded it in for a 09 Jaguar XF Supercharged. Won’t be going back to maxima until they make it worth it like they did back in the 80’s and 90’s. Especially not until they remove the CVT, lol

For 45K I could easily get a Tesla Model 3, Lexus ES 350, Lexus RC 350, Honda Accord 2.0T, Civic Type R, Dodge Charger Scatpack or hell, I could rival Nissan themselves and just get an Infiniti Q60 3.0T. Why in Gods name would I even consider this FWD, CVT mated car for 45K???

Can’t recall if it was stated ( didn’t hear it ) or not but this is the Platinum Reserved model which is a actual step up from the regular platinum model. That interior and color only comes in the Platium Reserved model.
Also only the SR edition comes with paddle shifters.

Not sure why people are complaining about the price. I've compared a lot of cars in that price range and you get way more power and features for you money than you would if you paid for a luxury tag. But then again, I'm Canadian, not sure what entry level pricing is on BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Audi etc.

If anybody buys this Nissan Maxima for $45,000 dollars they clearly didn't do their homework.
Nissan Maximas don't have a good resale value and look up CVT transmissions in Nissan. Their cvt Transmissions are not holding up.
If you're going to spend $45,000 on a vehicle and you want it to be a luxury vehicle buy a (Toyota Lexus). Just do your research before you buy a vehicle

    dear nissan,
unless you make the next gen car rwd or awd and replace the cvt with either a decent dct or maybe a zf 8-spd, "sport" shouldn't be a word used to describe this car.
market it as something else if you wanna, maybe an entry-level premium sedan for customers to start out in before they move up to an infiniti model. but keep it there.

Nope. As a guy who owned a 4th and 5th gen max, then a V6 2012 altima, and drove a late model Maxima I can say that the CVT absolutely ruins these vehicles. Much of this has to do with nissan's absurd "tuning" and fake shift points. Start looking at luxury brands if you're spending $45k.

I'm not sure why everyone is freaking out over the 45k price tag. This car does not start at 45k. People obviously don't buy the top of the line trims as much as the mid or base models. This trim exist for people who absolutely wants a Maxima, but want the "best" version of it. For those people, they need to spend 45k.

  • @ONI1013.

The infotainment screen is ridiculously cheap and dated. What is that screen size? Like 6-7 in? While the side buttons are at least 1.5-2 in width needlessly. You can get a fully loaded 2019 Lexus ES with all options for 48k. Materials, trim, infotainment, amenities and engine 1000x better.

  • @dallasbarnett26
    @dallasbarnett26 5 років тому +1

Maximas looks have been getting better no doubt. But what's offered is too versatile. If they focused more towards performance than they could make it with an actual 10 speed transmission automatic or put in a manual, rwd, slap a turbo or not, and fix the ugly quad exhaust tips and etc.. then there's a 4dsc at 45k. This car screams fast at sight and has some speed. Opposite of sleeper; it's a 1,000,000 bill with no value. If they would listen to the community of that cars tier level then they could definitely draw a bigger crowd. They claim 4 Door Sports Car; I see 4 Door Show Car
