VIDEO SPECIFIC INFO HERE
The Nissan Maxima is a fantastic car, especially in this "Platinum" trim level. Unfortunately, it may not be enough to justify it's slightly north of $45K price tag. Decide for yourself if this car is worth it!

Mazda6 all the way because 310Lbft of torque and that gorgeous interior. Accord 2.0t is very nice too.
Also you could get a new Buick Lacrosse 300Hp V6 awd for this price if you do absolutely need a large comfy V6 sedan. They are Heavily discounted.
Camry Hybrid for midsize (best hybrid drivetrain), Kia Cadenza for fullsize (best value in this category).
Give me the Camry, for the design and sweet V6, the Avalon is not to bad itself.
@UCV7nlZF-c9TrCjFD9d24U-w just saying the Avalon and the Maxima have the same HP, and both are front wheel drive, and the Avalon having the more upscale interior according o Redline Reviews, and the Avalon has a normal 8-speed Automatic and I think it weighs less, but we can both agree that both cars need AWD. But that is your opinion and I respect that, Cheers.
Are we getting a Lc500 review soon, cos I spot one at 2:00
45k? Nissan wouldn't even be on my radar at that price point......
Seriously that’s the price of a Lexus RX350 wtf…😑
Right. Hell nah thats too much for a nissan sedan
@@tails300 A base on maybe not fully loaded like the max.
CRYPTOKING my point still stands, and Lexus is much more reliable than Nissan.
Shane's World Nissan GT-R would be
One of the best Maxima review videos I've watched, great job! The Maxima is such a phenomenal sedan. I just picked up a 2018 Nissan Maxima Midnight SR and it's the most incredible car I've ever owned. You just feel so perfect behind the wheel. Seriously great sound system too.
Not worth it. The Maxima’s depreciate in value like crazy.. get one that is two or three years old. It’ll be about $25k instead of $40k-something ..
that’s every entry level car on the market😂
All cars depreciate. some have better appreciation than others. Depends on what u have as far as trim level. But I agree rather get a good deal on a used maxima than buy brand new. But that is my personally opinion. I look at it like this I just bought a 2017 pathfinder platinum with 37 thousand miles on it. The last person didn’t appreciate It but I will.
Yup that's what I just did.
You don’t even have to wait 2 or 3 yrs lol these and the Infiniti’s are horrendous in resale value.
True but all cars deprecate look at the German cars
45k? I'd rather spend this amount of money on a Kia Stinger or a G70.
Hell fucking yes amen
Scatpack 🤘🏽
@@Laylowmanman That will do too.
Cong Nghe will cost u 5 to 10k $ more but would be worth it
Or a Cla Amg 35 😉
Just bought mine Saturday and I love it!! White Platinum with black interior. I’m very happy! I also have the 2017 Murano white SV.
For 45k u can get a challenger widebody scat pack or Genesis G70 or Honda accord 2.0 with a tune and mods which all smoke this thing.
Well not a lot of these people are into performance and you named straight automatics lol my z34 would gap that damn Scat Pack
Gawd Dre z34 what? Nissan, Chevy, cavalier?
Gawd Dre or do you mean z24?
lfin _77 z34 is a Nissan 370z
True true
Gorgeous car! They are discounted $10k off, for those complaining about the price. It can easily compete with 60+k cars...beautiful, and unique.
Dima K I am with you! I have a 2017 Platinum and I enjoy it everyday!
I have a 2022 Nissan Maxima Platinum, Brought it brand new I’m just crazy about the four door sports car! It’s all that then some! Very fast. Brought me a one owner 2018 Maxima Platinum as the second car,
Ya know what...I would've said that the Maxima was not worth the price and there's no way a front wheel drive car with a CVT can be fun, but I had one as a rental a few days ago. The Maxima is actually a VERY fun to drive and sporty car. This is coming from someone who drives an Infiniti Q50, and BMWs. This car drives REALLY well. Test drive one before you knock it. It doesn't drive like any other Nissan with a CVT.
They’re addicting
good to know, loved my 08 v6 altima, imma have to love this😅
I'll take that maxima any day...I still have my 02 gle maxima..drives like a champ after all these yrs
I don't even have to watch the video to answer this question. NO. There's not a Maxima currently built that's worth more than $30,000.
Cary Coller exactly
AWD Maxima could be $31.500 though.
Me thinks you speak from ignorance. No, ignorance is not the same as stupidity so...
@@f86fman isn't it awesome how in America you can have your opinion and not be called names for it. So I'm assuming you are in another country since I'm not entitled to my opinion without being name called. Have an awesome day Sir.
At $45k I can get a new discounted Kia Stinger GT2 with 365HP RWD/AWD, liftback practicality and most importantly NO-CVT. (Don't tell me it's just a Kia go drive the damn thing and come back to me)
Other options are a TLX sh-AWD and a Buick Regal GS.
Even if you ignore the CVT, Nissan badly needs to put an AWD system on the Maxima if they want to keep it competitive
So you would spend 45k on a Kia or a Buick but not on a Nissan? That makes perfect sense...
Yes, but you're buying a Kia. lmao
The Kia Stinger is a much better car than the Maxima. It was so good that I traded my 2016 Maxima in for a Kia Stinger GT...
Its just too dated and it has a Godamm CVT, Why does Nissan put a CVT in almost everything, would rather buy a Avalon or better Still a Lexus ES for the same price, but cool car I guess. Well done on the reciew. Who else noticed the Lc500 in the background at 2:00 mins
Do you know what c v t does are listening to popular opinions
@@slyman-lv4yj yes I do, holds the engine revs in the higher rpm, for maximum fuel efficiency, but produces a vary bad sound, when accelerated. Cheers
What do you mean dated?
@@th4f I just got this old school vibe when I sat in one which i like, but it was the infotainment system that felt a little bit old, apart from the infotainment, I like the car except it has a CVT. Cheers
@@alwaysiyi272 the infotainment system has been updated. Its nit the traditional CVT. Its a xtronic one. There's a big difference.
25:11 If I'm going to pretend to drive a car, I can just go play a video game. Lol well said
Mobile Gamer 😅
I really dig your reviews - it's real, plus your clothes match the Nissan - big fan friend - Tony
I liked the relaxed pace of ur review
Attractive yes. Worth 45k? No. How come the Altima comes with AWD but the Maxima doesn’t? Crazy
the 2019 Altima is the first sedan they've ever made AWD. Maybe we'll see it in the future across all their vehicles.
AWD doesnt automatically make a car better
Actually it does, if the vehicle is a $45,000 Nissan product. Especially, if the design is boring and way outdated.
The Maxima really hasn't gotten the proper love that's forbears did since the 1995-1999 model. Every model after that has been a slow decline in quality, reliability, and general effort from Nissan.
Its sad that they destroyed this once iconic 4 door sports sedan into what you see today. Long live the 80's and 90's Maxima's!!
Nutritional Chemistry I agree, we’ve had maxima’s as our family car since 97. Our last one was a 09 maxima fully loaded which we bought brand new with 0 miles. 1 year after that we traded it in for a 09 Jaguar XF Supercharged. Won’t be going back to maxima until they make it worth it like they did back in the 80’s and 90’s. Especially not until they remove the CVT, lol
Am I the only one who noticed the blue Lexus LC 500 in the background at the beginning? 👀
I noticed it too
Have 16 SR , bought new .
I love my Maxima, cvt in this application is amazing!!
Look at jatco transmission and read more about them and look to see who own them you,re screwed
Thanks for the review!
Theres a reason you dont see many of the 2019s on the road yet and theyve been out a while
A while? Only been out since December and I’ve seen plenty. But it is hard to notice it at first glance because it looks so similar to the 2018
I wouldn't even buy a Toyota at these prices lol. And I love Toyota.
Good job with the review (keep doing your thing!) but the color scheme is way off...burgundy exterior with Halloween colors in the interior???? And 45K for this??? NOPE.
You could get a used Porsche AND used M3 for the price of ONE of these...
Oh really? Make sure you get a garage, spend 45k on tools and and quit your job so you have time to work on that Porsche. Ridiculous.
Ohh you mean a horse?
I have the 2020 SR trim fully loaded and I’m 6’1. I sat in the back seat , and I had plenty of head room. I wasn’t even in a slouched position.. ,so I’m very discombobulated about your statement you said about the rear seating... overall nice review. Wait until you see the 2021 maxima!
I hear 45 grand and i hear FWD.i click off video
The Maxima is irrelevant now
45k for a car on nobody's radar?
I love my 2017 Maxima SR. I've owned the last two generation Maximas. Never had a single issue. I do wish it was rear wheel drive based with no CVT but that's what the Infiniti Q50 is for. Can't wait for the next generation Maxima...it will be an EV based on the IMS concept with all wheel drive and will go like hell!!
What did you think of the last generation? (2009-2014 maxima) ?
Outdated and overpriced. This is just a more expensive previous gen Altima. Basically every midsize sedan is better value and real full size sedans are more spacious and better to drive. Kia Cadenza, Toyota Avalon, Chrysler 300.
Mgoblagulkablong You my friend have no idea what you’re talking about.
This is 10k more expensive than my 2019 Kia stinger baseGT,
jim You’re not saying much my friend.
Altima? Lol, worlds apart bro.
My boyfriend has a 2017 (previous gen) Altima. I’ve driven it countless times. I traded in 2019 (current gen) Altima on a 2019 Maxima. They are nothing alike. Driving the Maxima is a dream. I’m actually sad when I get to my destination because I just want to drive.
Good review & great Maxima.
$35k+ is Infiniti money
I think Nissans 4DSC is the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport. RWD (or AWD), 400+hp, adaptive sports suspension and sport brakes.
Add 20k. For that
I would say that 45K is a little too high of a price point. Maybe try 35? That would be a bit better IMO. Don’t get me wrong this car looks great n all and seems to drive pretty good but yeah 45K is pretty steep. Great review tho as always man 👍🏽
Great review as always. Was really looking forward to a night drive shot tho.
You can buy a Kia Stinger GT or a used Lexus ISF for that price. Hard pass.
45k for a stinger is even retarded
clamslammer Please explain why it’s retarded. It’s a fantastic car
Jag move on,he’s never driven one before.Probably lives in his moms basement and takes the bus everyday!
Love Scarlet Ember. The Platinum is nice, especially with the interior, but I tend to like the SR better, with its paddle shifters. My local Nissan store has a Sunset Drift (Dark Orange Metallic) SR.
That’s the Carnelian Red, the Scarlet Ember didn’t come out until 2022.
OR you can Buy a Used 2017 or 2018 Maxima for $25,000 Cuz its Literally ThESAME car !! Lol. 🔥🔥
No AWD, No Cooled Seats, AND a CVT
They have cooled seats
correct, for 25 grand u can buy 2017 model easily and its identical to 2019 model with mechanical stuff
That lc 500 in the background though lol
I have a 3.5 Altima. If they would replace the CVT with an 8 speed auto in the 2.0t Altima and new Maxima, it would be a beast.
Great objective vieod so glad I sub
Should've done a review on that Lexus LC 500 in the background
Also agree with the guy below that says they depreciate like crazy. 20 ish k in 3 years or less
21 years ago this October I bought a 1999 Maxima SE for 30 grand unreal how much it went up.
$15k in 21 Years with all the new tech aint that bad.
Wow didn't know the 1999 maxima SE was priced at 30k on dealership showrooms back then
I brought a Brand new 2022 Nissan Maxima Platinum Deep Pearl Blue , I love everything about it, rented one, fell in love with the gorgeous sports car, Bought one loaded love it! Great car Very quick! car. Great looking, riding 👀 car!
My 2019 Maxima SR has paddle shifters and I love to use them. Certainly better than playing a video game.
jarrod moore using paddle shifters On a cvt😂😂💀💀💀💀💀💀🤡🤡🤡
The gauge cluster has a 7" screen & the infotainment system screen is 8"
i have a 2018 max and mine wouldve right at the 50k mark if i hadnt bought it at the end of the year. I love mine 0-60 5 sec.
Had 2010 Nissan Altima and 2013 Nissan Altima . Switched to Mercedes-Benz and became loyal costumer
My 2010 altima is amazing
Mercedes is probably worse than Nissan 🤣 allot of people buy Mercedes because of how cheap they are after a couple years.
clamslammer that’s your opinion. I had more issues with Nissan , never with MB
Can’t compare the 2. Mercedes 100000x better and more respectable than Nissan. Lol
I love Mercedes cars. Well worth their money and are reliable.
45k dang. I’d rather get a Toyota Highlander xle for cheaper 42k
Can you review the SR?
Looks nice but it isn't worth $45,000 maybe $35,000 would be a fair price.
People keep talking about these CVTs they last and every car has em not just Nissan if they that bad why do you see em everywhere? Answer that everywhere you go there's a Nissan!
For 45K I could easily get a Tesla Model 3, Lexus ES 350, Lexus RC 350, Honda Accord 2.0T, Civic Type R, Dodge Charger Scatpack or hell, I could rival Nissan themselves and just get an Infiniti Q60 3.0T. Why in Gods name would I even consider this FWD, CVT mated car for 45K???
Did y’all peep that LC500 at 2:03? Man, that’s my dream car.
Can’t recall if it was stated ( didn’t hear it ) or not but this is the Platinum Reserved model which is a actual step up from the regular platinum model. That interior and color only comes in the Platium Reserved model.
Also only the SR edition comes with paddle shifters.
So according to you platinum edition is worth $45 g's
That’s crazy I bought my 2017 Maxima platinum medallion edition new for 33k in 2017. You can find 18’s SR and platinum for 30-35k new and 19’s for 36k-42k for the platinum reserve and that MSRP. I’d never paid that for a Maxima
omg that endinglol
Question, did you get gas?
Not sure why people are complaining about the price. I've compared a lot of cars in that price range and you get way more power and features for you money than you would if you paid for a luxury tag. But then again, I'm Canadian, not sure what entry level pricing is on BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Audi etc.
Saw the title and came to comment
Answer: Absolutely not.
Gelo710 Because Nissan is fucking trash 💯😂
Good review. At 45k, that's a hard hard pass!
Horrible interior/ exterior color combination. This interior would look better on a silver, black, white.....basically anything but red
Agreed.... Orange with red.... YUCK.
Chad Purser what the hell were they thinking! 🤮
I have the maximum Platinum Reserve in black exterior with the same interior. No one pays 45,000 though I paid just under 40,000 for mine
For some reason the back seats in the nissan sit really high they need to lower them for the head room
If anybody buys this Nissan Maxima for $45,000 dollars they clearly didn't do their homework.
Nissan Maximas don't have a good resale value and look up CVT transmissions in Nissan. Their cvt Transmissions are not holding up.
If you're going to spend $45,000 on a vehicle and you want it to be a luxury vehicle buy a (Toyota Lexus). Just do your research before you buy a vehicle
You didn't do any research
Julian Daniels, the Maxima outsells the Avalon by a big margin. So they must be doing something right.
AJ Lee maximas are sold probably at good discount
Hard to believe that!!!! I see more camrys on the road then Nissan Maximas
Julian Daniels Whatever the Maxima compete directly with the Avalon so the comparison isnt exactly fair, And I think I see about as many Avalon's as I see maximas And I drive a 17 Avalon so I tend to notice most of the Avalon's i see
Headroom is fine in the trims without moonroof. I have a 2017 and theres no such headroom issues
Beautiful leather and color
No especially considering you can get slightly used Maxima's for less than 30k The CVT is what's causing the heavy depreciation in these cars unfortunately.
Has a 7 inch affro and wonders why he doesn't fit in the back hahaha.
Good review overl
Lol, I am not buying that for 45k
I have the last real built maxima, 2003 5.5, non cvt
My 5.5 is at 155k and still running and i beat the piss out of it
You have to see these in motion
Those Day Time Running Lights are mesmerizing
The key is ahead of its time. Leave it alone.
dear nissan,
unless you make the next gen car rwd or awd and replace the cvt with either a decent dct or maybe a zf 8-spd, "sport" shouldn't be a word used to describe this car.
market it as something else if you wanna, maybe an entry-level premium sedan for customers to start out in before they move up to an infiniti model. but keep it there.
thats what its suppose to be already, consumers just thru it in this sport sedan box
Nope. As a guy who owned a 4th and 5th gen max, then a V6 2012 altima, and drove a late model Maxima I can say that the CVT absolutely ruins these vehicles. Much of this has to do with nissan's absurd "tuning" and fake shift points. Start looking at luxury brands if you're spending $45k.
I own a 2022 Nissan Maxima SV. I absolutely love the car! I've already embarrassed some RT Chargers & Challengers 😉
Nissan VQ35DE 4 Life! Heck, whole VQ family!
Hey bro..just bought a 2020 maxima sl...when im slowing down am i suppose to feel the cvt shifting down?
Are we just gonna ignore that LC500 at 2:39?
Does it have cvt?
$45K? For a car that looks a decade old? And WTF is up with that maroon/orange color combo? Are they out of their minds? On LSD?
They should have made this a non CVT.
Might As Well Get A Acura MDX For That Price!
I've seen 2019 SRs go for as low as $30,000. That's more like. Forrest in your Stinger GT2 video you posted the 0-60. Why didn't you do it for this Maxima video?
This is a good value if you are cross shopping. However it shouldnt top 40k my opinion. But that goes along with my belief that all cars are priced 15% higher than they should be.
I get my SL next month & trading it for the Platinum after one year
I would go for a CPO Lexus LS or GS. just my opinion
Def not for $45k id rather buy a used m3
For a Nissan, no way. You can buy a Genesis G70 with the highest trim package for about that much.
Lol. Wow, do you really think that you can get a 2019 G70 fully loaded specked out like the Max for $45k Bwahahahha
I'm not sure why everyone is freaking out over the 45k price tag. This car does not start at 45k. People obviously don't buy the top of the line trims as much as the mid or base models. This trim exist for people who absolutely wants a Maxima, but want the "best" version of it. For those people, they need to spend 45k.
The infotainment screen is ridiculously cheap and dated. What is that screen size? Like 6-7 in? While the side buttons are at least 1.5-2 in width needlessly. You can get a fully loaded 2019 Lexus ES with all options for 48k. Materials, trim, infotainment, amenities and engine 1000x better.
Maximas looks have been getting better no doubt. But what's offered is too versatile. If they focused more towards performance than they could make it with an actual 10 speed transmission automatic or put in a manual, rwd, slap a turbo or not, and fix the ugly quad exhaust tips and etc.. then there's a 4dsc at 45k. This car screams fast at sight and has some speed. Opposite of sleeper; it's a 1,000,000 bill with no value. If they would listen to the community of that cars tier level then they could definitely draw a bigger crowd. They claim 4 Door Sports Car; I see 4 Door Show Car
Short answer to your question NO! The Maxima is an awesome car with its exceptional comfort, power, looks, and performance. I do think it’s overpriced at $45k.
Bruh what!!?? I expect a ton of luxury and no cvt.come no Nissan leave that for your cousin Infiniti
The same price as a gtr they crazy
Bought 2020 Maxima S for Twenty Eight Grand.
This car is a Platinum Reserve trim not the Platinum.
I'm a dodge challeneger addicted , but I bought maxima , same color , it's super amazing car no doubts at all , but I'm still day dreaming about the challenger V8 RT. This issue is causing me mental illness
Nissans are great cars, too sad that the resale value is so low.
Lmao “speetometer”
Nissan is smoking that good-good if they think this car is worth $45k. Not no, but HELL no.
Ben Russell 😂😂
Might as well go the Infiniti or even Lexus route with that kind of money
