Nicole (Nicki) Lenway was a crime scene investigator for the Minneapolis Police Department and a mother to her 5-year-old son, Callahan. Things in her life were going well with the exception that her ex-boyfriend, Tim Amacher, was trying to destroy her. They dated for many years but broke up after Nicki had enough of his toxicness. But, a month after breaking up Nicki found out she was pregnant. After having her son, Nicki hoped that co-parenting would work, but Tim seemed uninterested. That is until she got into a new relationship with MPD officer Donovan Ford. Only then did Tim seem to care about his child. But he went about it in the worst way possible. He began making false claims that Nicki abused him and got CPS involved. CPS and a judge obviously believed that Nicki WASN’T abusing Callahan, and gave her full custody. So what did Tim do? He got his new girlfriend to try and kill Nicki. But she failed. Nicki survived being shot twice and lived to get justice. Both Tim and Colleen are in prison and will be for many, many years.

I want to truly apologize for my wording when speaking about the relationship between Colleen and Tim. I used a poor choice of words here and didn’t convey clearly enough the Colleen was a victim of Tim. It is obvious that she was groomed from a young age, and I should have verbalized that more clearly. I did not intend to make it seem like I was shaming her for this and I feel terrible that that’s how it came across. It is my fault that I did not make this clear. This was a mistake on my part and I am sorry to anyone I have hurt, it was never my intention. Thank you.
I will refer back to the impact statement regarding Colleen... I really don't feel that you need to apologize, but it's nice that you did anyway.
Thank you so much, Kendall. You and your team are always so good about sharing only kindness and truth. We all know you had no ill intentions in your video. You’re human! We all make mistakes and I’m so happy to be supporting someone who takes accountability so quickly and fully. Love you, girl! Great video once again!
Thank you so much for addressing this Kendall, we all know you wouldn't have said it in a cruel way but were surprised of how you spoke about it. Thank you for speaking out and correcting your language in the video. Will always support you and your hard work / determination you put into each project! Have a great day! :) X
Thank you for saying this Kendall! I thought it was so out of character for you
18 years only?!
attempted murder should be punished just as harshly as murder. why do they basically get rewarded for failing what they meant to do?!
Agree. I remember seeing this case when it first happened. The fact that Nikki was 1mm away from a ruptured artery/death...it should be considered murder. It's insane to essentially convict someone of a lesser charge just because they WEREN'T successful in their murder attempt.
Agreed!!
in my opinion he should’ve gotten life in prison considering that if it wasn’t for that woman who spotted this entire incident and called an ambulance, she could very well have died. Both him and his girlfriend should’ve gotten life in prison
Yes! I never understood why they get off so easy
I don’t understand this either. If you intended to kill, you should be punished the same! The fact that she survived because of the grace of a bystander, shouldn’t negate what the intentions of these 2 horrible people was!
There needs to be serious negative consequences for people who make these false CPS reports!
I think it is one thing when someone is genuinely concerned, and something else when someone knowingly makes a false claim. Sometimes kids that want more attention will tell people there is no food in the house. The adults may be concerned and call. Usually schools take the time to consider if the child looks well fed, but regular people do not. Also, sometimes kids misunderstand words. Medication can be confused with drugs. On the other hand, calling CPS on someone because they did not loan them money should come with some punishment. The only problem is that reporting is supposed to be anonymous. Plus, we may never know why someone is reported. How would anyone know if the motive was retribution for cheating or suspected cheating, theft or suspected theft etc... I guess if they openly brag that they filed a false report, yeah they should face jail time.
amen my lady
They claim that there is, but at the same time they also claim that no one will ever find out if you file a report against someone else regardless of circumstances. 😂😂😂 make it make sense as Kendall would say lol Nancy Schaefer had a great deal to say about this system before she was murdered…
Hearing the part about Emily coming in to save Nicki’s life almost made me tear up. She was an angel in disguise!! It’s so relieving to hear that the police and jury didn’t believe Tim’s flimsy excuses and believed him to be the abuser he was!!
Same I was tearing up. As a mama I would pray with all of my heart that someone would step in like that for me so I could be there for my son 😭
I immediately started sobbing. Glad I’m not the only one! And yes what a literal angel!
It literally makes me sick when family members/ex partners try to have CPS take someone’s children out of anger. It literally hurts the children more than anyone else.
as a cps worker, it’s usually abundantly clear when this is happening. people in contentious custodial battles often attempt to use the child welfare system to their benefit. tbh it’s annoying and a waste of time and resources.
@@abbyjohnson206 tu as un super métier de gardienne d'enfants bonne continuation tata abby perds soins des bébés ils sont trop mignons 😊🦄🦄
This! Not only is it hurting the child you’re calling about, but it’s hurting all of the children who actually NEED help but now can’t get it because social workers are spread so thin chasing after false tips that they don’t have time to thoroughly investigate the cases of the people who are actually abusing or neglecting their kids.
At some point we’re gonna have to talk about how calling CPS out of anger is an abuse tactic. It’s straight up abuse. Period. It’s abuse of the person you’re calling on AND it’s abuse of the child in question and once abuse like that is show, you absolutely should not be allowed around that child unsupervised under any circumstances.
I’ve seen this happen multiple times. Usually CPS figures it out. And doing this is also such a waste of resources for those cases that actually do require attention
My ex did this for a period of time. All of it turned out “unfounded,” but it was still used against me in court. It’s such a tough tough thing to navigate when someone acts like this. And very difficult to hold them accountable.
I sobbed when I heard Nicki’s attempt to speak in her 911 call. Emily was brave and surely saved Nicki’s life. They need to go to prison for life.
I literally screamed yes! When I heard Emily was there to help, the call was so terrifying
It must take a person who had a 1st aid course, at least one, and a cool name like Emily to do though. I should be able to do that after the amount of 1st courses I had and yet -.- shock pertification is a thing even with a scatterbrain. But I hope Emily and Nicky are friends for life. Having a good friend never hurts. @@Likelyfairy
@@AnnaC130 I hope you never find yourself in this situation, but if you do, I’m betting that you would do what Emily did, and I’d win that bet.
I hope so too and same for you ♥♥@@GwenMotoGirl

CPS is already understaffed and calling them and sending them to Nicki’s house multiple times for no reason other than spite makes me so mad.
It's too bad that they can't be fined for doing this.
& the kids that really do need to be taken out the home are overlooked smh
@@susanandrew6453 I'm not sure if they could have been. I'd think it would be something along the lines of submitting a false report to police. But given Tim's ties to police, I'm not sure that would have worked out even if it were an option.
Yes it takes so much attention away from the Kids who actually might have been hurt multiple times in those days, if not even killed bc some CPS staff once thought "Eh the signs aren't worse enough!" Sometimes, especially after the MHP of the Woman going missing around 9/11 makes me wonder how many criminal cases happened at the same time as such a historical event or as someone misusing such a system. I honestly wouldn't mind if we make this into a sub-category series of their Podcast and Videos and stuff like this after the Snehea case I literally was like "Now am wondering who died the same day as Kennedy was shot or if well some historical happening in the UK, & Russia totally messe dup an investigation into criminal cases..." like what do we know from the world really? Most countries focus on their own histories and maybe the USA in the later years.
Actually why not? Who would need in the justice system to make a law like this to avoid it? I mean as far as I know you get find if you call Police, firetrucks and stuff "just because or even fun" wouldn't it be easy to be glued on to it? @@susanandrew6453
The idea of Tim being a taekwondo instructor makes me sick. He literally taught self-defense and was probably thought to be a good person helping people when he was really the type of monster you want to be able to protect yourself from.
Honestly, these people who teach in dojos and are a little too involved seem like they're all in a cult. I'm not surprised with this guy dating his student either.
@@maritzaa.r.9928not all of them (I did martial arts growing up)… but almost all the ones I’ve met - unfortunately. Especially the men. I feel like a lot of really awful men go into martial arts to feel powerful and seem cool and it’s just a power trip for them.
Someone locally did the same and kidnapped 2 woman and when he got out of jail he unalived someone. He’s going to prison for life now. Scary guy. I met him once and was creeped out by his vibe, he did this stuff a few years later. I always knew he was off. Idk why but something was creepy about him and I was right.
@@franceskacostamagna1036 yeah, I only stopped doing martial arts recently and the weird devotion that some people have toward their trainers is so eerie. And the guy who founded the dojo was/is also dating one of his much much younger students. It's weird and disgusting.
I think it might be a matter of not practicing what they're preaching. My dad taught aikido and my nephews were/are in martial arts and they don't have abusive issues like Tim and they have boundaries. My kids are too young but you betcha the minute I get that creepy vibe from any teacher, they will be out of there.
Man I've said it so many times. It does not flatter me when a man continuously pursues me. It feels weird and possessive most times. So glad she was able to survive through this.
Je n'ai pas appréciée cet épisode c'etait vraiment ennuyeux

Yes ❤
Reporting false allegations, especially s3xual abuse of a child, should result in some kind of consequences for the liar making them!! That’s disgusting and *hurts REAL VICTIMS!!* 🤬🤬🤬
Agreed, though that could be a slippery slope.
@@viridianstardefinitely a slippery slope but so is filing a false police report. If you can show persistent harassment by the person filing the reports there should be recourse to give penalties for false CPS reports. There should be a lot of hoops to jump through to get there but there is merit for a mechanism to exist. Especially when it is so frequently used by abusive ex-partners to harm and harass their co-parent.
Exactly. I’m shocked he wasn’t charged with perjury
@@sparrowwilson4514the problem with that is proving that it's false for starters. in this case is obvious that he's just harassing them, but in some, if not most cases it literally takes that much for cps to do anything. the other problem with that is the people and children who will be disproportionately negatively impacted by that because they're actually in shitty situations and that's the only way they know to get help but cps won't or can't because they can't prove these allegations have substance.
To the girl who immediately saved her, you are a true badass person! Way to be an amazing person and doing something to help a total stranger!❤
8 yrs for Attempted Murder?!!?? She was literally shot several times. They wanted her not alive. That should be Life in Prison, for both. So she will still live with the fear that he will try again. So incredibly sad and frightening.
18 years actually
He got 18 years and she got 16.5 years
Let's be clear here, I'm sure Nicki is a fantastic mother and Tim is clearly a piece of shit, but to any child bearing people out there in an abusive situation - a child will only make things worse. You will STILL not be safe and in the worst circumstances, your child will not be either. An abuser will not change, best case is they abandon you. Worst case is your child becomes another tool for them to manipulate you with. If you have a choice, do not have a baby with people like this, there are other, better ways to have a family if you want one. An abuser will be a terrible parent who likely inflicts incredible emotional or physical pain on your child, either through disinterest or actively harmful behaviour or abuse.
Thank you!
It was SO STUPID for her to have a child with him. Absolutely no logic or reasoning went into that decision. She’s probably anti-choice.
I hope you're not implying that she should've terminated the pregnancy as the best option. Otherwise, I agree that she should not have even considered having Tim involved in the child's life. Since he did not want the child, she should've had him sign a legal document giving up all paternal rights. That does mean no child support and so it would be a lot more difficult for her financially, but better to have financial struggles than continue involvement with an abuser.
This is incredibly true and unfortunately, I know this firsthand. Abusers use children as tools.
Smh
Thank goodness for Emily for rushing to help a stranger, ESPECIALLY after that person was shot! It had to be such a scary situation, and she ended up saving someone's life. Ugh, that's just so beautiful and incredible. I hope I would act just as unselfishly if I were in a similar situation
I hope they have stayed friends
I am so glad Nicki survived and I hope she is able to live a peaceful life. What a scary thing for society that these two perpetrators are in jail for under 20 years 😱
Emily is a HERO, a real HERO! We seem to use this word politically at times, but truly this is what heroism is.
Thank goodness for that Good Samaritan for saving her life! 16 years isn’t enough but I’m so happy she got to marry the love of her life and grow her family while the abusers are locked in prison
This lady is a trooper. I can't believe she walked to the ambulance. Divine protection.
More importantly, WHY did she walk to the ambulance???
They should've brought the stretcher to her!
@@sandiehernandez8917my guess is she insisted. She just a bad ass
When adrenaline takes over, people will do some crazy things. It was probably faster to have the paramedics and Emily help her into the ambulance
Narcissists are HORRIBLE people. It’s so nice to hear stories with a happier ending 🙂 Thank you Kendall.
☮️💖🙏
Every time that cat is in the background I can't help but look at him/her. The way they sleep is so so sweet, lil paws curled up all cosy - that cat is living the life!
Soon as I heard, "she wasn't interested at first but he kept persisting" I knew 🚩🚩🚩
I own a trade embalming company [here in Colorado*] & while working in Texas when I first got licensed - I worked a medical examiner contract - & all of the crime scene investigators were always so nice and respectful to the decedents. I'm thankful Nicki is still here with us. Thank you for sharing her story 🖤
I don’t know that I could continue a pregnancy knowing how abusive the dad is. I know it’s a personal choice, and she chose to be a mom in this case, I just know I couldn’t do it. I’m a little surprised she thought they could co-parent given his attitude towards her pregnancy, his abusive nature, and his womanizing. I’m so glad she survived, and attempted murder should be life in prison.
She’s obviously not very smart. Probably a trumpie pro-birth, anti-choicer.
That baby shall be blessed. I would never allow his father around him ever!!!
He knew her since she was 12.... Thats all I need to know 🤢
Omg I get wanting to have a kid,.. but with an abuser??? Run and have a kid with a different person!
Or don’t tell him
You'll NEVER make 1d10ts like Nicole understand such an easy concept. They literally LOVE to struggle. It's who they are. That's why they do stupid sh1t like having a k1d with an abus3r. Let them struggle if that's what they want.
Hold up let me roll a blunt, make me something to eat, get comfortable because Kendalle Rae posted
Haha, good for you! I'm not a smoker but I'm maxin', watching Kendall, and eating some dumplings. Cheers!
Its crazy how attempted murder always gives waaay less time than murder. It would have been murder if it wasnt for that kind stranger who saved Nickis life. They should be charged as though it was murder
The justice system and the General Public disagree with you
The sentence for attempted murder should be exactly the same as first degree murder…. Failing to accomplish the task shouldn’t get you a lighter sentence. 💯
Agree! I just commented something similar but you said it 10x better than me.
THANK YOU.
I’m from Minnesota, and I remember this case and how hard it rocked the Twin Cities metro area. We’re so glad that Nikki survived this! She’s a trouper!!
13:52 I get pretty stressed out when I hear a dispatch worker who doesn't seem to understand that people call 911 when they're in distress and can't necessarily communicate in the ideal way a dispatch's script would want them to.
Same. 💯
Worse for me are cops that tell you to calm down when you're in distress omfg 😢 🙄🙄🙄
Liking, commenting, and playing through on silent because I want to support you and your channel as much as possible. Unfortunately I can’t finish watching. Only 10 minutes in and this one hits far too close to home. Going through exactly this and a court battle now. I always fear the worst, what if the judge rules in his favor, how will he retaliate if the judge doesn’t rule in his favor, etc. For anyone else out there going through this- you are not alone, we are strong, and we will get justice. Kendall thank you for being a light for victims families and a voice for victims who aren’t able to speak for themselves. 💞
He couldn’t control her anymore so he did the ultimate. I don’t understand people that think this way. Glad she got the justice she deserved.
This was my friend’s teacher for martial arts in grade school, I would tag along on their tournaments and we interacted frequently during those times. He was a creepy guy never would’ve thought I was this close to a case covered here before.

Same I was literally rewatching a old case when she popped up
Seriously this makes me so mad. Only 18 years bc she survived ? Do they not think he won’t get out and try again? I think he should be in jail for life seeing as he was trying to end her life.
Nicki is a badass
Emily is an Earth Angel
And the girlfriend has likely been groomed by a psychopath since she was 12
2:51 The demonic "together" cracked me up LOLOL
Reminded me of House Bunny
I had a controlling ex, we were already almost fully broken up, basically moving out, then found out I was pregnant - told him, & that’s of course when the cheating accusations started. He made every accusation under the sun, and told me to leave, (even though I was already gone), & I just KNEW - he didn’t want anything to do with this baby! I wasn’t about to force him bc that never ends well! I left & moved into my own apartment (w/ the help of a brother who had a box truck, got everything in one go)-& my son is now 14 almost 15 years old!! Never asked for child support, never asked for him to be part of his life, never looked back, and couldn’t be happier!
I wish everyone was able to do so, but some men (&women), just can’t let their ex be happy, & just can’t be non-violent!! It’s utterly tragic, & I feel so badly for all these women/men living w/ an abusive partner. And for those who can’t leave for whatever reasons.
Congratulations on staying strong and getting away from your controlling ex. I'm sure it must have been difficult at times. I come from a single parent home with 7 kids after my dad died, so I am aware of the challenges. This must have been like a win-win for you and your son. Your ex is the one who lost out--on the joys of raising a child.
Hugs ❤ I'm happy you were able to get away safely ❤
That made me cry hearing that Emily came to her aid so quickly without hesitation.
Yay! A video that I’m taking as an early birthday gift! I’m really glad that this one ended on a somewhat positive note! Justice was served and Nicki was able to live and continue to enjoy her life and being a mom! ❤
If you’re in an abusive relationship please please don’t have children with your abusive partner they will make your life a living hell.
Alot of kids are born out of rape not love and the women are forced to have the kids as form of control but its not the same in this case as it was the women who wanted the kid not the man
Oh my goodness. That 911 call is heartbreaking. Emily is truly an angel on earth 🌟🌟
I live in Minneapolis. This was an interesting case indeed. It’s always interesting to hear cases that happen so close to home. Thanks again Kendall for an awesome video. I’m a big fan!

16.5 years is not long enough for what she did to Nicole
I’ll never understand why attempted murder sentences are so low. The only difference between attempted and murder is that the victim was lucky enough to survive, but the intention is the same in both…
Agree. Needs to be changed.
Why did the judge allow any visits with an abusive parent? Our system is broken!
I was wondering if you would make a video about this case! Glad you did!

What a satisfying story. Too many don’t have endings like this one. The only thing that would make it better is he got life in prison.
Cheering for Nicki what a warrior! 🙌🏻
Nicole, thank you for your service. You saved many, many people from harm. A man this unhinged should be FAR away from society to begin with, and certainly NOT a part of any staff at any school, martial arts or not. You have saved many people from harm.
yay happy new year Kendall, hope you and your family have a fabulous 2024 x
Your cat 😍🥹 is so soothing to look at. Just chilling near a fire place. Also this story was wild asl
Hearing about Emily seeing the whole thing and saving her made me cry.
Love you kendall! Keep up the fantastic work. ❤
