    Nicole (Nicki) Lenway was a crime scene investigator for the Minneapolis Police Department and a mother to her 5-year-old son, Callahan. Things in her life were going well with the exception that her ex-boyfriend, Tim Amacher, was trying to destroy her. They dated for many years but broke up after Nicki had enough of his toxicness. But, a month after breaking up Nicki found out she was pregnant. After having her son, Nicki hoped that co-parenting would work, but Tim seemed uninterested. That is until she got into a new relationship with MPD officer Donovan Ford. Only then did Tim seem to care about his child. But he went about it in the worst way possible. He began making false claims that Nicki abused him and got CPS involved. CPS and a judge obviously believed that Nicki WASN’T abusing Callahan, and gave her full custody. So what did Tim do? He got his new girlfriend to try and kill Nicki. But she failed. Nicki survived being shot twice and lived to get justice. Both Tim and Colleen are in prison and will be for many, many years.

    I want to truly apologize for my wording when speaking about the relationship between Colleen and Tim. I used a poor choice of words here and didn’t convey clearly enough the Colleen was a victim of Tim. It is obvious that she was groomed from a young age, and I should have verbalized that more clearly. I did not intend to make it seem like I was shaming her for this and I feel terrible that that’s how it came across. It is my fault that I did not make this clear. This was a mistake on my part and I am sorry to anyone I have hurt, it was never my intention. Thank you.

      Agree. I remember seeing this case when it first happened. The fact that Nikki was 1mm away from a ruptured artery/death...it should be considered murder. It's insane to essentially convict someone of a lesser charge just because they WEREN'T successful in their murder attempt.

    • @kathleen1685
      @kathleen1685 3 місяці тому +19

      I think it is one thing when someone is genuinely concerned, and something else when someone knowingly makes a false claim. Sometimes kids that want more attention will tell people there is no food in the house. The adults may be concerned and call. Usually schools take the time to consider if the child looks well fed, but regular people do not. Also, sometimes kids misunderstand words. Medication can be confused with drugs. On the other hand, calling CPS on someone because they did not loan them money should come with some punishment. The only problem is that reporting is supposed to be anonymous. Plus, we may never know why someone is reported. How would anyone know if the motive was retribution for cheating or suspected cheating, theft or suspected theft etc... I guess if they openly brag that they filed a false report, yeah they should face jail time.

      This! Not only is it hurting the child you’re calling about, but it’s hurting all of the children who actually NEED help but now can’t get it because social workers are spread so thin chasing after false tips that they don’t have time to thoroughly investigate the cases of the people who are actually abusing or neglecting their kids.
      At some point we’re gonna have to talk about how calling CPS out of anger is an abuse tactic. It’s straight up abuse. Period. It’s abuse of the person you’re calling on AND it’s abuse of the child in question and once abuse like that is show, you absolutely should not be allowed around that child unsupervised under any circumstances.

Sometimes, especially after the MHP of the Woman going missing around 9/11 makes me wonder how many criminal cases happened at the same time as such a historical event or as someone misusing such a system. I honestly wouldn't mind if we make this into a sub-category series of their Podcast and Videos and stuff like this after the Snehea case I literally was like "Now am wondering who died the same day as Kennedy was shot or if well some historical happening in the UK, & Russia totally messe dup an investigation into criminal cases..." like what do we know from the world really? Let's be clear here, I'm sure Nicki is a fantastic mother and Tim is clearly a piece of shit, but to any child bearing people out there in an abusive situation - a child will only make things worse. You will STILL not be safe and in the worst circumstances, your child will not be either. An abuser will not change, best case is they abandon you. Worst case is your child becomes another tool for them to manipulate you with. If you have a choice, do not have a baby with people like this, there are other, better ways to have a family if you want one. An abuser will be a terrible parent who likely inflicts incredible emotional or physical pain on your child, either through disinterest or actively harmful behaviour or abuse.

      I hope you're not implying that she should've terminated the pregnancy as the best option. Otherwise, I agree that she should not have even considered having Tim involved in the child's life. Since he did not want the child, she should've had him sign a legal document giving up all paternal rights. That does mean no child support and so it would be a lot more difficult for her financially, but better to have financial struggles than continue involvement with an abuser.

Only 10 minutes in and this one hits far too close to home. Going through exactly this and a court battle now. I always fear the worst, what if the judge rules in his favor, how will he retaliate if the judge doesn’t rule in his favor, etc. For anyone else out there going through this- you are not alone, we are strong, and we will get justice. Kendall thank you for being a light for victims families and a voice for victims who aren’t able to speak for themselves. 💞

    I had a controlling ex, we were already almost fully broken up, basically moving out, then found out I was pregnant - told him, & that’s of course when the cheating accusations started. He made every accusation under the sun, and told me to leave, (even though I was already gone), & I just KNEW - he didn’t want anything to do with this baby! I wasn’t about to force him bc that never ends well! I left & moved into my own apartment (w/ the help of a brother who had a box truck, got everything in one go)-& my son is now 14 almost 15 years old!! Never asked for child support, never asked for him to be part of his life, never looked back, and couldn’t be happier!
    I wish everyone was able to do so, but some men (&women), just can’t let their ex be happy, & just can’t be non-violent!! It’s utterly tragic, & I feel so badly for all these women/men living w/ an abusive partner. And for those who can’t leave for whatever reasons.
