There's something interesting that you younger reactors may not be aware of. At least not fully. These versions on UA-cam, as good as they might sound to you, are VERY low quality, very low resolution, "copies of copies of copies". If you ever heard these songs, as they were meant to be heard, on a record or 8-track tape (a later technology, late 60s thru the 70s). Especially an analog record, or a REALLY good, high resolution CD, and over a really high end stereo system, in a room with really good acoustics...your mind would be blown again, Just imagine the difference between taking a picture with your phone, of a GLORIOUS "picture" of an even more glorious painting in museum, that was painted by a grand master, back in the day. A painting that will inevitably be a bit faded and slightly covered in grime from the decades, and so is, thru no fault of its own, no longer at its best, unless some group of cleaning & restoration artists restores it to its original glory. And then you react to the faded and time smudged "picture of a picture"...on your limited little phone screen. That's how you're having to experience these wonderful songs, through no fault of your own. You simply don't have the original pristine, full quality, recordings available to you. Nor are they playing back over a "room filling" hi-fi system. And yet, just like a pretty picture of a picture of a beautiful painting, on a tiny phone screen, is still beautiful, these stunning songs still retain enough of their original glory to be impressive. And that is the way, the older of us heard these songs originally. Except most of us heard it over a limited car AM, or later, an FM radio, or whatever our parents had in our homes. So it was still not the best. But believe me, it was still better than a UA-cam video on a phone, even over headphones. Because the audio source is original and better. When you get a chance to listen to 60s and 70s music in "straight through to the speakers" analog, over a great stereo system...you're going to have your mind blown again. There is a resonance, a vibrance to the sound that cannot come through UA-cam for some reason. I think it's an analog thing. I hope you get to experience it sometime.
With the interesting difference that Elvis would smolder at the camera and moved like a dancer, while Roy was just totally cool, standing there in shades, barely seeming to move, but taking the roof off the building with his voice alone...

I was named after this song. My father who is now 73 met Roy Orbison when he was in the army he was my fathers hero. My daddy was able to talk with him for a few minutes & get a photo. He told him if he had a baby girl he was going to name her Leah & obviously he did. When my daddy & I are missing each other we send "Leah" to each other. Elvis, was a hugh influence in Roy's life, They met at Sun record's in the 1950's and, became life long friends. You can tell the impact Elvis had on Roy by the way he dressed, sang and, the kinda songs that he wrote or covered. Love and, miss them both so much! Thank you.

I have been a Roy Orbison since about 1960 and had just bout every song he ever sang. Some of the great songs that he sang were on the B side of the 45 records we used to buy. I sure miss him but listen to him just about daily.
You've done this, and "Only the Lonely." Check out "In Dreams." Many of his songs are sad. He lost hid first wife in a motorcycle accident, and two sons in a house fire. He wrote a lot of his own material. And he has several songs that don't follow a standard verse/chorus structure but just keep building and building to a climax. His older voice, such as when he did all these songs in the Black and White Night concert, 25 or 30 years after the original studio recordings, is very good too. Different from his young voice. But each is good in its own way. In Dreams from B&W Night: ua-cam.com/video/-8Jz3VW7rYk/v-deo.html

Running Scared....so moving and raw...and short.
@@peggycrowley9534 exactly! i just discovered it today!
I've seen my incredibly strong, wonderful father cry twice...once when his own father died & the other time was when Roy Orbison died. I've been listening to Roy Orbison my entire life. I never get tired of hearing his beautiful voice.
Orbison at his best!!! Next take a listen to "Running Scared!"
Roy had an amazing voice - one of the best of all time.
"Blue Bayou"- you won't be disappointed.
Elvis, was a hugh influence in Roy's life, They met at Sun record's in the 1950's and, became life long friends. You can tell the impact Elvis had on Roy by the way he dressed, sang and, the kinda songs that he wrote or covered. Love and, miss them both so much! Thank you.
Elvis was Roy's biggest fan, yes he even preceded Elvis. K. D. Lang does a wonderful cover of this song
Hi Jaycee his voice is fantastic and beautiful just laying back and listening to him sing fantastic x
One of my favorite versions of this song is K. D. Lang’s live version - but I do love Roy Orbison’s as well
Don Mclean did a great version too.
Only Roy could do this song what emotion he puts in to it
I just love when I know what's coming and waiting for you to hear it..haha.. and when you pause it right before the best bit, I am saying no...don't pause it..lol... the best bits coming...Roy 's voice is astounding. Loved all his songs.
KD Lang did an amazing cover of this song.
I really appreciate everybody's reaction to this song cuz this man lived a super super tragic Life... this is like the 4th or 5th person I saw doing a reaction to his music
Hello sir, if you’d like to hear more voices like this check out johnnny maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge and a song called “the worst that could happen”and another act called Jay and the Americans and a song called “cara Mia” these two groups voices will blow you away check them out you won’t be disappointed....thanks for today’s reaction....stay safe and be well
I have been a Roy Orbison since about 1960 and had just bout every song he ever sang. Some of the great songs that he sang were on the B side of the 45 records we used to buy. I sure miss him but listen to him just about daily.
You've done this, and "Only the Lonely." Check out "In Dreams."
Many of his songs are sad.
