+Benjamin Gibson Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
      That, we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
      which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
      Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
      that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
      There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you.
      For an interval.
      Somewhere. Very near.
      Just around the corner.
      All is well.
Nothing is past; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before only better, infinitely happier and forever we will all be one together with Christ.

In December of 1999, my father passed away. He loved this song by Roy Orbison, he sang it all the time around his apartment. Then on April 1st, 2000, my twins were born at 31 weeks, premature. My daughter, Victoria was a healthy 3 pounds, 8 ounces, my son John Lawrence, was 4 pounds, 2 ounces and sick. He had Potters Syndrome, a kidney defect due to insufficient amniotic fluid. He was born with no physical bladder and died three hours later. I was holding him as he passed away. Sometime later, I went to the cafeteria to get some food and drinks for the family. Everything was closed, except for the snack machines. There was a single employee, a nurse, sitting at a table eating. Sitting at the far end of the room was a modern day juke box, but instead of 45 records, it played CDs. I bought some food, I sat down and tried to eat, but I became overwhelmed by it all and I just started crying. All of a sudden, I heard the juke box buttons go "click" and the song "Crying," by Roy Orbison, began playing. The nurse looked at me and asked, "Did you play that?" I said, "No." She then said, "Well, that's weird," and went back to eating. I realized right then it was my dad sending me a message. That experience still affects me to this day.

Oh my dear girl. You have been through hell. What a loss a child is. There is simply nothing as sore. Your dear daddy clearly was with you that day when the song played. Just goes to show the power of his love for you. I wish I had a magic wand that could help ease your pain, sadly, I don't. Whenever you feel the need to 'speak' with your daddy, you ought to play your very special song. I'm sure that you will feel him close at hand. Bless your heart my darling girl, bless your heart.

After Roy Orbison agreed to join the Traveling Wilburys, each time he sang, George, Tom, Jeff & Bob would stop what they were doing to listen to his golden voice. They were truly mesmerized by his pure talent. He was one of a kind and is deeply missed by millions.

    • @actionsub
      @actionsub Рік тому +5

And that happened due to an incident that happened during his heyday. He was on the same concert lineup as a then up-and-coming new group called The Beatles. The Fab Four had the same reaction, they were absolutely in awe of Roy. This began a longtime friendship between Roy and George Harrison that would culminate in the invitation to join the Wilburys.

My dog passed away yesterday. On the way to to veterinarian hospital to help her this sing started playing on the radio as she laid in my mothers arms. I had to hold it together as we took her down to the hospital. She had already passed by the time we got her there. I spent all of today trying to remember what song was playing as we made the ride. It hit me as I was coming in from burying her. I’ll miss my dog dearly.

I saw Roy Orbinson sing twice in Lakeland, FL before I graduated from high school in 63. In my humble opinion he is the best singer ever. Those high notes that you hear in this song, he barely opens his mouth. He was incredible! I still remember two of his one liners. He told the crowd that I was in that night that he had many requests but he was going to sing anyway. The other was that he loved women because his mother was a woman.

The first time I heard this song was in the summer of 2016. I was 19 at the time and working at my local thrift store. A man came by and donated an old record player. My boss was not there that day so I decided to plug it in and mess around with it. As soon as I plugged it in and turned it on this song started playing and I have loved it ever since.

For some reason, I learned how to sing after my 62th birthday. I always loved this song but I never dreamed that I could sing it. It's so high. Nailed it though. Thank Jesus for the heart to sing it. Elvis said that Roy had a better voice than he did.

I'd have to agree, Elvis was great but he didn't have the range or clarity the Roy Orbison did. The only person to cover Roy Orbison that I like is KD Lang, she's got that same clear bell like voice that just tears you to pieces when she sings. Congrats on learning to sing this. You should post a video and share the link ;)

Daryl looks at the picture of the friend he couldn't express how much of a good friend he was. The friend who was going to have a baby. It was glenns mutilated corpse. Daryl began to imagine the friends he lost, his brother Merle, Beth, and now Glenn. He then began to think it was his fault and starts to break down in tears. He had A whole journey with someone who gave him positivity but he didn't give him that back and now he is dead. He breaks down in tears. Dwight outside his door listens and walks away.

I was alright for a while, I could smile for a while
Then I saw you last night, you held my hand so tight
When you stopped to say, "Hello"
You wished me well, you couldn't tell
That I'd been crying over you
Crying over you then you said, "So long"
    Left me standing all alone
    Alone and crying,
    Crying, crying, crying
    It's hard to understand
That the touch of your hand
    Can start me crying
I thought that I was over you
    But it's true, so true
I love you even more than I did before
But darling what can I do?
For you don't love me and I'll always be
    Crying over you
    Crying over you
    Yes, now you're gone
    And from this moment on
I'll be crying, crying, crying, crying,
    Crying, crying, over you

Basically for me, when I hear Mr. Orbison's velvety voice, I am transferred to a magical place. But this song ... oh Lord, every time I hear it, I can't help but picture a miserable soul lamenting the loss of someone's love for them, and I am seized with such sadness for them because they'll never get it back.
