Roys first wife died in a motorcycle crash while they were out riding together. She got hit by a car. Later after that two of his sons died in a house fire. Oh yes, Roy knew how to cry - and why.
"Only The Lonely", "In Dreams" are a couple of other Orbison songs I think you'd like. Roy's voice is simply great! He was admired by many other artists for his voice and how emotive his vocals were. He was part of the Traveling Wilburys, a supergroup with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty. You'd probably enjoy a listen to them as well. The Travelling Wilburys were such an amazing bookend to his life and singing career. Where else did he belong but amongst the panthon of the greatest that have ever been? They actually introduced him to me and, yeah, I went down that rabbit hole. Amazing stuff. Before my time, but sooo good.

This song is about a chance meeting between him and someone he knew and misses. He wasn't prepared for it and it stirred up memories which left him crying.

When I grew up, I felt like you do now. I just wanted to hug him and protect him. Roy Oribison is legendary. Thank you for bringing this to us.

The way I took it, is she had already left him but they just happened to meet one day and she greeted him and shook his hand, (Girls and guys did that back in the "innocent age") just being cordial and friendly and "wished him well" as they were parting ways. But she couldn't tell that he actually had been missing her badly and crying. But he was hiding it. He realizes that he thought he was over her but upon seeing her again he realized he wasn't over her at all. And he says that she had no idea that when she touched his hand in greeting that day, it was killing him emotionally inside. "You don't understand that the touch of your hand can start me crying..."
Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, and yes, Elvis Presley all recorded at Sun Studios in Memphis TN. They gotten together, recorded, and we're nicknamed "The Million Dollar Quartet."
I really love how protective you got over Roy. He had such a gift for making his audiences feel the raw emotions through the power of his voice. I've always said it's the closest you'll get to hearing a ghost singing.
This sounds like the very early version of this. He really perfected that soulful, hurt vocal of the song. If you get a chance, listen to a later version also. And listen to kd lang version. She really is one of the most underrated vocalists of my generation. Her voice is bigger than life and just perfect. And also listen to kd lang/Roy Orbison duet version. That’s just perfection in a duet.
Roy had so much tragedy in his life. His wife died in front of him after an auto accident and his two children died in a house fire while he was touring. Check out the version of this song with Roy and KD Lang shortly before he passed away.
Elvis Presley was Roy Orbison's Vocal Hero. Listen to Elvis on It's "Now Or Never", "Are You Lonesome Tonight?", "One Night", "Surrender" & "If I Can Dream". After that, you will know what an Incredible Voice Elvis had.

This song has moved any young tween who had a broken heart upon hearing it, and felt it from the top of their head to the bottom of their toes! First heard it in the 80s on a station that blended the 50's with 80's music. Now go listen to "Pretty Woman" for a more upbeat song from Roy, then go listen to Van Halen's cover of Pretty Woman! Roy had a timeless voice that spoke to your heart no matter which decade you grew up in!
I started listening to Orbison songs in the early 60's as a young teen. Didn't realize how great each song was until I was much older. Simone - If you liked this song listen to "Running Scared". You don't know the how the story ends until the very last word in the song. My favorite.
Truly one of the greatest and most unique voices ever. Roy is a legend. And yea, Orbison started out in the early era of Rocknroll and continued on until his death before the Traveling Wilburys second album in the early 90s. The TW, a supergroup truly, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynn from ELO. Lynn, one of the best producers ever and Harrison produced the albums. A collection of some of the greatest song writers that ever lived, where each member was able to contribute either writing or playing/singing. Both albums well worth checking out along with Orbison’s vast individual catalog.
Your reaction at the end of the song made me hit subscribe immediately 😂 Can’t wait to watch more of your videos! And yes, that girl was trifling hurting poor Roy like that lol
I got the impressions that they just ran into each other. She didn't want to avoid him. That might be more rude if they saw each other but I could be wrong. Just always thought that. He had a lot of hits in the 60s as mentioned below. He has a unique voice. THank you for reacting.
There is a story, that I don't know if it is true or not, where Elvis was asked what it was like to be the greatest singer in the world. He replied, I don't know, ask Roy Orbison. Elvis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, and Jerry Lee Lewis used to tour together back in their Sun Records days. Listen to Roy's last hit before his death, You Got It. He still had it.
She didn’t do it deliberately. She just passed him on the street said hello shook his hand and said goodbye. As he said in the song she couldn’t tell he’d been crying. He thought he was over her but running into her again let him know he never would be.
I remember this song very well, when it came out on the 60s I had just lost a special girlfriend and the song fit my situation so well, after all these years I still hurt for that young lady and every time I hear this song it comes back
Big O was the man. This song is from the early 60s. I know what it feels like to think you're over someone and thrn to meet up with them again and fall to pieces.
I was surfing UA-cam, of which I am an ardent fan, when I came upon this (Simone's) channel. I admit I decided to watch it because I thought the female narrator was Beautiful ! I enjoyed Simone as much as I did Orbison's music. I am now a proud subscriber to the Simply K. Simone channel. Her soul is as beautiful as she is attractive. ❤️
Roy Orbison came from the same recording studio that launched Eivis ,. Sun Studios . Elvis called Roy the greatest singer in the world . Unfortunately, Roy had some real tragedy in his life....His wife and child both died in a house fire , I believe . Roy's biggest hit song was Pretty Woman.
His wife Claudette died in a motorcycle crash, and two of his three boys died in that house fire a couple of years later. He later had two additional sons with a second wife (Barbara).
I was fortunate enough to see him live just once. And let me tell you not a single performer does what he did. He performed over 2.5 hours without a single break of any kind. We watched them do certain songs so band members could sneak off and come and so on. He was soaking wet at the end.
No she didn’t come to see him, they bumped into each other someplace and tried to make the best of it, but he had some trouble with dealing with it!!!!! That’s the inspiration for the song!!!
That range, no wonder no body tries to cover his songs on the Voice, the ones where he hits and holds the high notes..he was a machine, perfect pitch and could change notes so easy..
Elvis and many other big name wanted to jam with Roy right into the eighties. Many of the songs he wrote were about him self and yes she did go back to him but died in a motor accident,it was his wife.

Love that song from the past and Roy Orbison had such a great voice.
Amazing voice
This song has moved any young tween who had a broken heart upon hearing it, and felt it from the top of their head to the bottom of their toes! First heard it in the 80s on a station that blended the 50's with 80's music. Now go listen to "Pretty Woman" for a more upbeat song from Roy, then go listen to Van Halen's cover of Pretty Woman! Roy had a timeless voice that spoke to your heart no matter which decade you grew up in!
I definitely have more coming
One of the greatest singers of all time. Pretty Woman I think its his signature song❤✌
Hard to believe no one has suggested "Pretty Woman" truly one of Orbison's best.
Oh they have I’m posting it tomorrow
You have to admit that voice is stellar and he totally makes you believe what he is singing!
Definitely admit
Orbisons voice was Magical!! Nothing to do w Elvis. , who had no falsetto !
Roy is an American Icon
This song was early 60's
Elvis considered Roy Orbison as the most perfect voice in music
He hits these great high notes while barely opening his mouth! 😂 Really one of the greatest.
Yesss like omg 😱 how
I started listening to Orbison songs in the early 60's as a young teen. Didn't realize how great each song was until I was much older.
Simone - If you liked this song listen to "Running Scared". You don't know the how the story ends until the very last word in the song. My favorite.
Yes it’s coming this week
Hi Brian !! Can I ask you a question how sis Roy pass away ?
Your reaction at the end of the song made me hit subscribe immediately 😂 Can’t wait to watch more of your videos! And yes, that girl was trifling hurting poor Roy like that lol
I like the quote where someone asked Elvis what it was like to be the greatest singer
Elvis said no idea, you'll have to ask Roy
No need to merely recommend when there's a link handy . . .

She didn’t do it deliberately. She just passed him on the street said hello shook his hand and said goodbye. As he said in the song she couldn’t tell he’d been crying. He thought he was over her but running into her again let him know he never would be.
I think she did but ok lol
Until Queen came along, Roy Orbison was by far the best 'pop' singer around! In his personal life, he had so many reasons for crying.
Cool I just did a Queen Reaction today
He was better than Queen.
@@julianmarsh1378 Depends entirely what you're after.
@@rayjennings3637 You are correct. These calls are always judgemental and therefore, subjective. To me, Orbison rules.
Glad that Roy O has been rediscovered by a new Generation. Check out his catalog. If you liked CRYIN, you'll like his other hits as well.
Ned
I remember this song very well, when it came out on the 60s I had just lost a special girlfriend and the song fit my situation so well, after all these years I still hurt for that young lady and every time I hear this song it comes back
Roy's life was filled with tragedy. Maybe that's why he sang those Ballads as he did, from his own personal experience. Great voice.
Big O was the man. This song is from the early 60s. I know what it feels like to think you're over someone and thrn to meet up with them again and fall to pieces.
Me too I think that’s why I got protective
I liked your reaction. Taking up for Roy LOL
Roy was a huge star in the early 60s, a hero to many of the biggest bands of the British Invasion.
It's a song! Who hasn't felt it in their life? Bless you.
Came out in 1964. His had a tragic live. His range was unbelievable and he did it with ease. Legend!
If you look into this man life, he dealt with a pain I would not wish upon the worst person on Earth.
Awww Thank you !! And welcome to the channel
Just play the first five notes of the opening riff and everyone will recognise it!
His wife Claudette died in a motorcycle crash, and two of his three boys died in that house fire a couple of years later.
He later had two additional sons with a second wife (Barbara).
His wife was killed on her motor cycle , They were coming from Bristol Tenn. Two of his 3 sons were killed in a house fire on Old Hickory Lake .
His voice was like wonderful melted chocolate in your mouth……Any gal born from 1955 on will adore him ty😎🤗
Saw Roy in Spokane Wa. Paid $1.50 was 1964.
Roy is great. Thank You
Your welcome
It ain't about her---it's about his mindblowing voice!
I know but I still got entangled in the lyrics
That range, no wonder no body tries to cover his songs on the Voice, the ones where he hits and holds the high notes..he was a machine, perfect pitch and could change notes so easy..
Elvis and many other big name wanted to jam with Roy right into the eighties. Many of the songs he wrote were about him self and yes she did go back to him but died in a motor accident,it was his wife.
Oh wow
