    Just bought the axial yeti, I know it’s discontinued but that’s why I bought it when I saw one available, so many parts still available, I have my basket full of most the parts that will make it a better racer, I’m going to try some closed cell foams in the stock tires and see how much it changes their performance. Worst case, I’ll have to buy new tires

    A fair comparison. I don't recall the 2-speed option of the Yeti being mentioned, but it was the versatility of the Yeti that sold me on it over the 'Rey platform. As a fan of Losi products myself, I would take the SCBE over the Rock Rey, for performance and parts availability.

    • @TheRCNetwork

      If you outfit the Yeti with a decent sensored brushless system, you won't need the 2 speed

    I just bought these 2 and wished I bought 2 rock Rey’s, the yeti had a king pin laying in the box when I’d opened it, the rock Rey would be twice as fast, much larger and a far better out of the box rtr in my opinion. In saying this I have nothing against Axial I have the yeti XL and love it.

    I have had both yeti an rock Rey . The rock Rey too me had more electrical issues then I liked strait out of the box the motor burnt up with in the first ten minutes took about a month too get it replaced under warranty the mesh was way too tight out of the box is the only thing I saw that caused it but who knows I know I had too reset it when I put the new motor in it an it was fine afterwards. The yeti I haven’t had any issues with it other then the front diff wore out do too a screw that was too long an was rubbing the ring gear in the front diff went through the top of the housing .

    • @TheRCNetwork

      The RCNetwork
      I’m considering getting a losi rock Rey, I’m a little concerned about the rear end durability with the c clip axle retainers, and I know the servo horns are an immediate repair point.
      I also heard the stock electronics run a little hot. I’ve been told to gear down.
      The fixed non adjustable motor mount concerns me a little cause you can’t adjust gear mesh just hole position.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  4 роки тому +1

      Yep, all good concerns - the servo horn should be done on day one. The rest is a "play by ear" situation. It's a great buggy - I wouldn't worry about what other people are saying. You don't know their maintenance routine, lack of driving skill, etc.

    The stock bodywork on the Rock Rey is ugly... the bodywork you have on yours is SWEET... Proline?

      +Jimmy Louis I agree. Nope, they’re custom made .025” aluminum panels. Simply make a template and trace onto the aluminum. Cut out with tin snips and add some Freqeskinz graphics!

    The Rock Rey is a good rig with a few adjustments. The RR setup is awful from the factory, damn thing won't even track straight (and yes I can drive an rc). The tires are too big, foams way too soft, diffs out bad with stock oil, and the stock steering setup has a comical amount of play and flex.
    Steel links all around, smaller tires and stiffer foams, HR steering setup and you've got a truck that will be capable on 3s.

      How fast is it on 2s? I'm not a speed demon anymore because every time I run 3s in my trucks I end up having to make a trip to my LHS.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  7 років тому

      Yeah, it's geared more toward speed....and the sensorless system doesn't help with lower RPM's

    gcm racing also makes parts for the losi. all of there parts are amazing quality but there specialty is for super scale crawler/trail trucks.

    The people that automatically go to Axial without giving Losi a shot are only punishing themselves. Sure Losi doesn't have the aftermarket support, but it doesn't need it. Axials need tons of upgrades out of the box.

      @billbarberconstructioninc.17 7 років тому +3

      TheImtoomuch I had three yetis and the yeti trophy truck! They all needed tons of aftermarket parts just to run. Axial is cheap with a plastic chassis! That's all you need to know!

      Many RTR cars are plagued by the Lipo shipping laws and including a Nimh battery these days is pointless. RTR is a relative term these days

    • @TheRCNetwork

      They ship separately - One box, the RC and the other box the Lipo.....unless they changed it recently. The laws on shipping Lithium are getting strict
