Guy gave you a lift AND Pot roast. Legendary.
Indeed!
Pity from a cat...
True Bermudian hospitality
We Bermudians are very kind hearted and giving , hope you enjoyed your stay here bro
I used to live in Rio de Janeiro Brazil I found the people to be very nice and hospitable just like there in Bermuda.
👍
After checking in with Customs I broke the tips of two fingers and couldn’t continue the voyage south. The Customs people were terrific in helping me find a hotel for the night. They also showed more how to get to the airport so i could fly home. The trip required 3 flights and 4 airports so it was best to go to the airport to book it. Hopefully I will sail back soon. The people there are wonderful!
The customs, radio and Heath authorities were the nices folks to work with. Bummer about your fingers though.
Thanks for taking me along Sam! Fair winds!
You bet!
You are my new fav sailing youtuber. Great content with no fillers, hate these videos with couples, all they do is talk and talk and talk and try it on with clickbait. Im really looking forward to your next passage. Keep up the great video content
Yeah, a lot of the sailing couples I've seen try to make their channel like a talk show. I like the Wildlings Sailing though. They have the same vibe that I get from Sam, just not as knowledgeable with boats.
Dude, I hope you’ve watched the Hawaii trip. Also, Sam has great content from the early years. Ballstronaught should not be missed
You bet. Glad to hear you’re enjoying it
I like Sam's channel. I also watch Florence, Wildlings, and Wind Hippie.
I got bored of SLV; it turned into a lifestyle magazine.
@@Chebab-Chebab I use to watch Drake paragon, he had good content a few years back, but now its just turned into a talkshow with him and Mo sitting around the table talking about nothing for 20 min while tied up at a dock , I mean really...I would suggest Barry perrins (Adventures of an old Seadog) he's got some superb videos.
I did 36 months at NAS BDA 1973-1976,,,brings back LOTS of memories...
I was very fortunate to visit Bermuda several times…it is absolutely beautiful, but expensive. Safe travels ⛵️⛵️😊
Glad you had fun ❤ please come again ❤🇧🇲
Please do. Love from Bermuda 🇧🇲
Another "no frills" Sam Holmes sailing adventure! Simply loving it. Thanks for sharing mate!
I'm from Bermuda! Been watching your channel for a long time and was so excited to hear that you were making the journey over. I hope that you enjoyed your time on our small island and hope you come back one day, where there more of a chance to meet!
🇧🇲❤👋🏾
You look sooo happy! Have fun, stay safe!
Sam you’re the man bro. When I hit 30 I want to buy a 35 foot sailboat and sail the Caribbean for a year. Watching your channel is great because you don’t just show the glory shots of sailing, you show what it is to actually be on a boat in the middle of the ocean for a long time by yourself. Love that because it makes the video more relatable and is an accurate picture of what future sailors should expect when they go out on the water on their boats. Keep it up man 👍🏼
Thanks!
Not everyone has musical talents, but certainly lots of electronic toys and tricked out/accessories boat (aka Swiss Cheese = 'where'd this water come from?' security cam on mast could have answered that ... Rogue wave? Pelican spit? Leaks? UFO, Dark copters, drones from invading ships/pirates, Etc... _InSertTriAngleStoriesHere_
Glad you made it to the Azures! Thank you for posting the videos of your trip considering how time must be precious for you...
Can't wait for the video of your Atlantic crossing...
Thanks for the video Sam, good luck on your next passage.
You were in St. George's where I live. Bermuda has so much more to offer, so you need to spend more time when you return. Safe sailing.
Bermuda is so beautiful. Sam thank you for a sailing channel that is actually about sailing and the life. props
So glad You made it to the Azores. I can't wait to see the footage of your Journey.
Sam you are doing such a good job with videos of your travels man. Very inspiring.
Way to go Sam, the Azores look like a great place to explore. Love your channel. I look forward to your next video.
Thanks Sam, you are adding to my bucket list of destinations.

I forget how beautiful my island is. Thank you for the great video Sam. Have a good rest of your journey.
Interesting, good video. Good to see you are able to enjoy some of the Island.
Ahh, you make it look easy. Thanks for the great content, it's always a nice respite.
My wife and our 4 kids bought a 45 foot Coronado sailboat about 3 weeks ago and moved onto it. You are one of our favorite sailing channels! 👍
Looks wondeful Sam,enjoy your smile and joy of what you are doing.Thank you for sharing
Love the updates Sam. Take care.
Excellent video. The shipwreck was awesome, wish you'd had your gopro for the other snorkle trips!
I'm really enjoying following you, Sam. Fair winds and following seas, Cap'n!!
Man I love your content! I'm thinking about maybe getting a small sail boat and try to learn to sail always loved the water be so cool to go on a voyage like you do! Keep it up man thanks for the inspiration!
Continued safe travels to you.
Hi Sam, I'm glad you enjoyed your short stay in Bermuda. Yes, we do live in Paradise we just have to look after it!
Enjoy good and safe sailing all your days.
Newton from Bermuda
So excited to see you go to the azores. I've always wanted to go.
Good stuff. Thanks Sam!
This is a first and feels refreshing to see my neighborhood randomly while surfing youtube lol good to see u made the best out of St. George's mate. Safe journeys on your voyage. See u when u get back 😉
So jealous. I lived in Bermuda from age 2-5. It's on my list of places to go back to as an adult. We lived over on St. David's Island, by the airport. Love following your travels. Hope you have a great time in the Azores. My parents tried several times to get a transfer there, but it never came through.
Sam- you’re getting me motivated for my 2022 solo trip from Seattle to Prince Rupert BC.
Sam enjoying your videos. I too have a Cape Dory 28 number 6 hull that I have had to customize also. Sailed down to Central America in 95 and been here off and on ever since. I have had the boat since 1981 and fear, now that my years are stacking up, I probably need to sell. Fair winds...bob
Enjoy your videos. Always smiling. Next trip try for the Great Barrier Reef around north Queensland. Must be a bucket list destination. Keep happy and enjoy life.
Love to see it I’m bermudian nice to see Bermuda through your eyes been to that fort but don’t rem going all the way to the bottom &looks like you enjoyed yourself stay safe out there all the best
Great video Sam!!
Lovely video. Makes me miss my second home. Can't wait to get back and visit friends and family. Safe journeys, wherever you may sail
Looked like a short but nice time in Bermuda. Glad you made it safely and I see you also made it to Azores. Nice!
Sam, Glad you made it safely across! Can’t wait for the next video. And very much appreciate the tour of Bermuda I have been there on a cruise but didn’t stay long. Just started watching your videos prior to your departure from Oriental North Carolina. We live in Portsmouth Virginia. I don’t have a sailboat… Yet but I’m thinking seriously of getting one just don’t know what to get. Pretty awesome to give people a picture of what it’s like in dangerous conditions. Go to Henrietta kept you company ha ha.
The bow on that shipwreck is pretty cool
That was my inflatable in your way at the dinghy dock. Too funny. I sailed into Bermuda in June and left in July (2021).
I just love your adventures and live vicariously through you. I’m half Bermudian and wish you could have spent a little more time there to see more of the island and get to know the amazing people a little more. Funny, I’ve been going there since I was born and Ive never visited that many forts!
And those forts are just in St. George's
Great video, hope the next stage epic for you
Looks gorgeous!!
I have been looking at the tracking and was glad to see you made the Azores. Phew! :-)
Great stuff man! love to watch
Your videos are AWESOME Sam!
you arrived just after the Bermuda 1-2 solo leg finished. In a few of your shots I can see my boat Glory, the blue Freedom 45 with 28 on the bow just past the dinghy dock. Looks like you had a good passage.
Don;t want to miss any of your videos , Sam stay safe
Awesome video! The only other sailing channel remotely similar is sailing into freedom. Top stuff Sam!
Wow, nice snorkelling Sam
Nice shots!!
Great video! I'll keep up with you and try and support your continued journey.
always nice to tune in for another day in paradise
Glad you made it Sam to the Azores. My first posting to your channel.
I have been following your adventures and recently subscribed to your channel. Pretty cool- just say'n.
Boat looks good too, almost as good as the pot roast did.
Bermuda is a cool place. My dad use to fly for the Navy when I was younger.
He brought back things from Bermuda that I still have to this day somewhere around here.
The old forts tour was very interesting. Just a bit before our time....
Dark & Stormy- not very dark but it IS stormy. U don't say? Rum is not living-it's surviving
Bermuda was host to the America's Cup event several years back out on the Great Sound.
Stay safe out there- I look forward to your Travel Channel review first impressions from
the Azores from the Sailing channel of Sam Holmes perspective. It should be highly
entertaining, just like the rest of your videos are for us.
Also, props for your film editing.
Very cool. Fair winds!
ay man nice to see some one i watch as finally sailed to my island wish i was there to show you around
Thanks!
Enjoyed the latest video
1:10. An “anchor of merit” took on a new meaning ...
Hung out with you and Ali at the horse camp with my wife couple of years ago.
We talked about your parasailing adventures.
Hey Sam, you are an amazing person, I enjoy the sailing vlogs. God Bless.
I remember that! What fun. All the best.
Loved this episode! Next time you’re in Bermuda go check out the frog and onion pub and get a 50 oz beer they call it the the Big Ben! Safe travels!
I guess no phone huh?....Glad it was smooth sailing....glad you made it...I'm slaving away on The Dirty Bird getting ready eventually.....Awesome Bro Glad you are living the Dream!!!!
I think I was way more upset you forgot your Go Pro than you were 🤣🤣🤣 That wreck dive was a real treat though thank you 😁
Nice update Sam. And I follow you on your website. I know you made it to the Azores. 🤙👊👍💯
When you finally get ashore you must have a mean case of sea legs! i took a ferry for an hour last night and i could still feel the ocean when i got home laying in bed.
Good One....Thanks Sam.
That is so cool of you to show 81 year old Sven Yrvind some UA-camr tips.
His new vessel he is making is coming along.
Sven is an amazing sailor. ..!
He’s great. One of my heroes for sure. I’m helping him edit a new video each day until he gets the hang of it. Will be great so see more video content from him. We’re making good progress
Had my honeymoon in Bermuda! It was awesome. Avoided the tourist beaches. Use the bus and taxis... don't rent a car or scooter. Great voyage!
Obrigado!
Looks amazing
Great vid sam
Superb!
NIce site seeing Sam enjoying your adventure
I actually want to visit now!
Thanks for enjoying my home!
So much fun to tag along on your adventures Sam! I've done lots of lake sailing but only one ocean trip out to the Channel Islands in California. I envy your grit sailing solo in open water. Question, please: How's your health these days? Guess it was a year or two ago that you had a serious abdominal issue requiring an ostomy bag. Hoping that's all behind you now. Take care my friend and looking forward to more videos.
I dropped the key to my rented moped into the water at the second spot you stopped at to snorkel. That concrete section you stood on and looked down at is the place where it happened. I did the same exact thing except there were no cell phone cameras back then. I squatted down to take a look and whoops, dropped my key! Thankfully my dad was able to lower me down so I could reach into the water and grab the key. One of my stupider moves I must say.
Sam, you mentioned that first Fort was built in1626. King Charles 1 was just in his second year as King of England. Such a long long time ago How well it has lasted. Wishing you safe passage to the Azores. Barnacle Bern S W Wales UK SV Cadbri
Thanks
Nice video!! And Welcome at Horta Sam. It must have been quite a ride! I did follow you from time to time. Interested in what happend june 21st?
That looks like SV Pickled Herring for sale on the hard @4:00 LOL! Could have saved yourself a long sail! ;-)
A fellow blue cd 28!
Nice video. I was in Bermuda at the same time with the Bermuda 1-2 race. At 2:46 when you are on the town dock my boat Cepheus (silver grey hull) is over your right shoulder. She was rafted up to a Freedom 44 Glory. I have started a charity #sailforepilepsy and am sailing the oceans of the world to raise awareness and inspire people to live fuller lives. Pity we didn’t bump into one another. I will be doing the azores next year. Keep the videos coming. Fair winds Phil
Bon voyage!
Took a shower, and then went diving again? Sam you are the best. Great video!
Could you resist that water lol 😂

Have u considered placing board slats between port and starboard settee to make bigger bed?
👍looking good Sam! Bama Larry
Darn I wanted to see your grocery haul. Was curious to know what they had in stock for what kind of prices. Good luck!
The prices were insane!
Our bread loafs are about $6-7 USD. It is mad expensive here, but we have great beaches and surrounded by water, which is nice lol
Come to Malta Sam :)
Sam do you broadcast AIS or just receive? You are the man! Greetings from Oriental btw!
Receive only at the moment.
3:56 was that a Cape Dory for sale?
Was wondering if you ever set a fishing line while under sail? Looked like the water was a bit murky from the weather.
Yeah fresh seaFood/Sushi, except the seaGrass
Seems like high treason to eat the wildlife
My question was answered watching Sven's vid!!
I probably wouldn't show any host nation's flag on the floor. I really enjoyed the video though. Good luck to The Azores!
if ya sail to the uk ( portsmouth ) let me know buddy ... might have a spare room for you to stay for a bit 💪
