How to Straighten Steering wheel and adjust your drag link
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- After you put on a lift to any vehicle you change the steering and suspension geometry. With a YJ and most front leaf sprung vehicles, all you need to do is adjust your drag link to get your steering wheel back to horizontal (straight) as you are going down the road. This will insure that your blinkers function properly and it just looks goofy and half done if you don't fix it.

I didn’t keep my steering wheel straight when changing gearbox. I’m a dumb dumb also didn’t take pictures. Thank you this helped a lot
Glad to help. That’s why I started the channel. 🍻
Thanks. Just the information I needed. The shop that did my alignment after I got new tie rod ends couldn’t turn the drag link so I had to get my torch out today.
Yeah. Rust and time can make those really a pain to adjust.
@@flatlandjeeper5724 It’s an ‘84 FJ60 Land Cruiser with all original steering hardware. I doubt that bar has been moved 3 times.
Yeah. That would make it difficult.
i know I'm kinda randomly asking but does anyone know a good place to stream newly released movies online ?
@Thatcher Sage I watch on flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
Cheers for the info.i thought it was a big job to fix
Knowledge is power my friend. Thanks!
Super helpful mine has been bothering me for awile
Glad I can help!
Thank you for the video
No worries.
Good simple video thank you
Thanks!
Nice job
Thanks! 👍🏻
do you need to have the wheel off the ground to do this?
Not necessarily. If you wiggle the steering wheel or roll the vehicle back and forward 10-12 feet it allows everything to settle and then re check
😊😊
What if the draglink is max in then how u center the steering?
I would guess that there might be some other problems. Something bent, steering wheel no positioned properly or the coupling from the steering shaft to the gear box could be misaligned. Hard to say. Some initial guesses. 👍🏻
@@flatlandjeeper5724 well when i took off the stock one steering was fully centered until i installed the teraflex draglink
After you did this does your vehicle pull to one side when you let go of the steering wheel?
A little. It is difficult to get it perfectly straight. If you keep working at it you can get it dialed in. There are other factors that can contribute to lane drift. Uneven tire wear, brakes dragging, road crown, other loose suspension parts, etc…
Sorry sir if your car is vibrating when you are speeding like 70 to 80 please
Do I need to have a alignment after?
Depends an a few things. Simply changing the length of your drag link does not necessarily change the attributes of your alignment. It changes the relation of your pitman arm to you tire direction, which conversely changes the rotation of your steering wheel to your tire direction. As long as your tire wear is even and the vehicle tracks straight afterwards you should be fine.
No as long as you’re not adjusting the tie rods you’re not affecting the toe angle.
Why do you have to ramble on for 6 minutes before you show how to do it?
Give a person a fish or teach them how.
@@flatlandjeeper5724 exactly.
You lost me at "Blinker switch".
Lol
