Caution. Do not place any type of Velcro Faced type of flat mop or equipment face down directly onto the carpet tiles. It will lock into the carpet tiles, attaching itself together along wither several other carpet tiles. Happened to a coworker of mine using a walk behind commercial floor scrubber which has a velcro base designed to hold the scrub pad onto the base to scrub the floor. He was moving the machine without the pad on the bottom and we had to separate the carpet tiles from the base of the machine. Some other equipment such as a Velcro type of swivel pad designed to lock onto a Doodle Bug Pole Swivel Scrubber or a Micro Fiber Swivel Base with a Velcro type of securing system will do the a same.
Beautiful hardwood flooring discovered under that rug. Time to return that carpet tile, get your money back and just send and stain that beautiful hardwood.
Can anyone speak to how strong these 'tiles' stand up to things like sliding a piece of furniture over it? After all, it's not uncommon to adjust furniture positioning or need to move a dresser or nightstand out to access a wall outlet or find something that dropped behind it. I'm just wondering if carpet tile would be more prone to come apart and "kick up" under that kind of force being placed on it.
I would recommend that you use big, like 5 inches or more, carpet gliders and place under legs or base of furniture and push/pull to your desired location. Gliders will prevent furniture legs snag onto carpet woven threads. I hope this helps.
Carpet gliders are the best. If you do not have any, a piece of thick card board folded a couple of times for heavy items or old books used as a slider helps. Any type of VELCRO MATERIAL EQUIPMENT WILL STICK TO THE CARPET TILES AND WILL PULL THE CARPET UP. It happened to a coworker who accidently had a walk behind floor machine that has the bottom plastic to adhere to floor cleaning pads for commercial floor cleaning. The machine was heavy and we both had to separate the machine from about 4 carpet tiles. Happened to him twice LOL!!!
Always cut the carpet down so you dont scratch the walls and base..the method shown here would most likely cause damage and why not make it lighter to carry out?
Michael I'm debating doing the same... just pulled up carpet yesterday and exposed the old floor. It has been painted a Grey shade and was covered with carpet in upstairs hall.. not sure if I want to strip it down and re-stain or new carpet
There is a GLARINGLY obvious mistake in this presentation. If when you come to the edges to the tiles that have to be cut If you turn them over ,like he shows and mark the BACK then if the wall is not true when you turn the tile back over the angle will be completely WRONG !! You have to mark the tile whilst it is facing UP !!
No this is absolutely correct if the wall is out of square it will be cut exactly to the shape of the wall the square part of the Carpet will go against the factory edge of the carpet and whatever angle of the wall it will go to the wall
@@jayhorton4462 No you need to think about this a little more carefully. What you have just said is true if you mark the tile whilst its facing UP. Whilst it is facing down, like he shows then when you TURN THE TILE BACK OVER the angle of the discrepancy will be completely the wrong way around. Checkout ua-cam.com/video/Y8-G3Rg29YM/v-deo.html for the CORRECT way to do it
On a wall, it's gonna be harder to do the preliminary positioning of the tiles, so I would not recommend... Unless you're able to put the building on the side; then it will be a game changer
Crazycraigy if the house isn't squared going for the corners is a pain in the arse..this is the proper way of doing it and everything end up exactly the same👌
Exactly ! I cant beleive some people want to cover such beautiful wooden floors ! The older, the better ! Just sand it and apply that beautiful clear !
A bit late to answer your question but hopefully of use to others. No room has perfect measurements, for example two walls opposite each other are unlikely to be parallel to the last few mms, even cms. One end might drift away or over time either or both can become erratic for a few reasons. The imperfection may be only slight but by the time you've laid a few tiles across the floor you will find the alignment of tiles way off course or becoming off of square meaning the tiles will not fit exactly to each other, the corner angles becoming obtuse or accute. In fact you could even see this with your first tile in the corner where the angle of the two walls is out of 90 degrees. Starting in the center using precise measurement ensures you have as near perfect a lay as possible leaving the irregularities in measurement to be dealt with by laying smaller sections of tiles square to the tiles laid and cutting adjustments to the edge of tile along the wall. Cutting round pipes, door angles, difference in size of the space being filled from one end of the part tile to the other etc. etc.
Thank you, this was the most complete video about installing carpet tiles i've found so far. Been looking for weeks!
I agree!
Very clear and easy to follow directions. Thank you.
Great instructions. This is what I needed for my work project.
That floor looks as if it is in good shape all it needs is a good sanding and refinishing.
Super-helpful from start to finish!
Excellent video, thank you very much!
How do these tiles stand up to vacuuming? Can you use an upright vacuum? Or will the tiles lift and float?
Normal vacuuming is fine.
Great instructional video. But I feel like I'm missing something. Why are you covering that real wood floor with carpet?
Sounds easy enough. Thanks for the video. What are they like to vacuum do they pull up or anything 😂😂
Good question
Do you recommend some model/brand to have in my bedroom? Good product and good price. Here I don't have carpet and the apt is rental.
Great video, very useful!

If I pulled up old carpet to uncover a real wood floor the last thing I'd do is lay down carpet on top of it again.
I laughed way to hard at this 🤣
right on brother
You would hate a real wood floor dooring the winter

Well, make sure you lift up a piece of furniture, carry it, then put down in a desired place... If you're able to :)
Using sticky dots like in this video it would fold up as it is basically floating on the floor , but if you stuck the carpet tiles down they would not
@@MrBorderdown why are you angry

I saw exactly that the other day. Left circular scratch marks all down wall.
It's amazingly how some people try not to work smart.
can these tiles be placed on top of existing carpet?
No
Where from i buy this carpet tiles
You buy from a shop....🥸

Hi, Where can we locate the adhesive dot? we are in Australia and we would like to use it for our jobs.
Interface do a product called tactiles which are the same as these sticky dots
Is it a carpet
Would it be easy to remove if you need to
Yhu could probobly pull one up then the rest would
Do u put some glue or something to stick on it right?? Do u know the name or how can I find that glue??
Use double sided tape, stick a few tiles down on the sticky tape. Don't need to do them all
@@friendlyhorseuk7220 You can buy special carpet tile adhesive spray from B&Q or any good DIY store
Great 👍
No floor insulation underneath the tiles?
No

Why would you carpet a wall?
Sound proof
Are you gonna bust through and trip and your helmet falls off? Then yes!

I repeat the house is never square never
No floor glue
I pulled up the hardwood and there was carpet underneath
What if water falls on the floor ...?
Dont let it fall 🤗

Why the hell would you cover that wood floor.
Because yhu want carpet
If its an apartment the carpet improves sound-proofing dramatically.

No. Would look off center. Same with tile.
