Always hard for people, especially new to having a snake in their lives. Well explained and it seems a constant ask this subject. It is about the species the size and what they will need fully grown.
Honestly I’ve been watching reptile you tuber for a while and I finally found then best one... it’s you! You are so honest and your love your animals. And you help me understand my own . You are my inspiration!!

I'm buying my first snake this Friday (a gorgeous Nelson's milksnake, about a year old, I believe), and your videos have been nothing short of miraculous. Helpful beyond belief. My sincerest thanks, and I look forward to seeing more stuff from you~!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad to hear that my videos are of help! It must be so exciting getting your milksnake. I absolutely love them, they are gorgeous! Best of luck to both of you! :-)
You are a true inspiration around the world I don't have any reptiles but I have three dogs and a blue quaker parrot named piper we got a few days ago!😊❤️
Hi Caitlyn! Thank you so much for your kind words, they are much appreciated! Sounds amazing with three dogs and a parrot! Parrots are just amazing! and I wish I could have a dog too. They are such gorgeous animals! :-)
Since I am planning on getting a snake soon, I am very thankful that I've found you. Your videos are very educating and interesting at the same time. Thank you so much for spreading your knowledge.
Can you do a how to set up a ball python cage? It would be awesome to see that and would be helpful. @jossersjungle
Peyton McCarty Absolutely! :-)
Jossers Jungle thank you. It's gonna be cool awesome and helpful all in one video.
Peyton McCarty if you can't afford a vivarium use a simple rub setup, a 40 litre rub with 2 hides should do a water bowl and obviously the substrate(which can be kitchen roll or newspaper)
Wow that fan art is amazing!! I seriously thought it was a picture of you
Perfect information as always. It's so important to not only do the research and learn what enclosure size you need for an adult snake, but take into consideration its individual personality, as you mentioned. Some ball pythons do like to roam around and explore, it's not typical behavior but it'd be nice for that one to have a big enough enclosure to let it do that. :)
we missed you!
TheKeyworkauditorium I missed you guys too! :-)
Hi, I have a question! I have loved snakes since a very early age and I was 2 when I held one for the first time. My favourite breed of snake is definitely the Ball Python, and when I found your channel I subscribed instantly. I created a private small playlist of your videos on Ball pythons for my parents and I have almost managed to convince my parents to buy me a 2 year old male one! The only problem is I have two small dogs (they are jack Russell terriers), and my parents are worried the snake will get out of its terrarium and the dogs will find him. Do you have any advice on keeping a snake safe from other pets? Thank you xx
Kate Burge You can buy some locks for the terrarium so it can only be opened with a key :-)
Thank you so much :-)
u have such a amazing channel i am glad that there are still people that know how to smile it really changes the whole feel of a video especially a smile such as yours would love to meet u at a expo or something one day
I love your videos. Can't wait for the next here comes Queenie video

I put my baby corn right into a 20 long and he loves it! I have a little Wyze camera inside to watch him at night and he uses EVERY inch of that space!

I love your channel so much and I keep watching your videos because I just love your gorgeous animals~~
💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
유채린 E.L.F if you can't afford a vivarium use a rub, a 8-12 litre one should do for 1 year or a 18 litre rub at most(make sure it has length but height as well) I use one for my baby corn and it works just fine, upgrading to a vivarium this Christmas though, I'm not an expert or anything but you can keep snakes in rubs, many breeders and snake lovers use them. Just thought I would reply to help as many people as I can when it comes to corns :)
유채린 E.L.F and yeah research is important, I'm 16 now but since I was 13 and maybe even 10 I was interested in them, I've been researching on and of for 3 years but 3 months research is enough, all you really need to research for snakes is the humidity, food, temperatures, vivarium and the snakes usual temperament.
faynts thank you so much for the information! You're so nice ^^
I've also been interested in snakes since I was a little kid so after a lot of years my dream of owning one is becoming true O(≧▽≦)O
유채린 E.L.F no problem, glad I could help. Good luck with getting your snake :)
I've just bought my first ball python and at first I was a nervous wreck worrying about doing everything right but Your tips have helped put my mind at ease
Can you do more about your tarantulas? More care videos about them and what kind of cage you keep them in and what to feed them and how often etc...
Absolutely! :-)
Hi, Jossers Jungle sorry I haven't been on instagram or commenting!! I was on a trip with no service! :-( Anyway I'm back to watching your amazing videos and I am also working on some fan art!!

Absolutely! :-)

Yasssssss. Finally!!!!
(Not to be rude though xxx)
😊💕😘
I have a tiny question, could I house a Ball Python in plastic clear tub? I’m pretty sure that as long as the cage fits the health requirements of the snake is doesn’t matter.
I just want to make sure with you because you seem like you know a lot of your info, baste on this, I feel like I can rely on you.
I’m also sorry if you’ve already gone over this, and now have to go over it again.
I truly love your channel, btw I subscribed. Have a nice day, or night.
Hi!
Yes - you can just as easily house them in a plastic tub. I house 2 of my hatchling in a plastic tub. They will do just perfect in that. I have made a video of that too if you are interested in watching that :-)

i am very sorry
Haha, this is too funny xD
thank you but i am very disappointed in myself
Another great Video!
I just discovered your channel and so in Love with your informative, descriptive information! I just recently purchased my son and daughter a PRETTY male Lemon Pastel Ball Python!! Haven’t be able to get him to eat yet! 🤦♂️ Keep looking Gorgeous 😉
Did you do a video on common diseases/pests for snakes? My friend had a boa that she bought while it had "snake mites" (the boa was a sick rescue with many problems)? I plan on getting a ball or reticulated, so I wanted to know... any references to sites/forums that talk about this?
Hi, I like your videos but I have a question, could hatchling/baby ball python live in adult terrarium? I would ofc buy many hides and fake plants and make it comfortable and water dish and all that
My ball python lives in a 40 gallon, she is 1 foot 4 inches, still pretty young, but she doesn't have much space to herself. I have a water dish and two hides, cool and warm, and she uses both. I want her to have room but she simply can't go out in the open except for a little tiny place she can fit in between the hides. She loves her enclosure, I just don't want her to get stressed. Please help me.
In your opinion, would a 20 gal long tank be to big for a 3 month old pastel ball? Also, love you channel.
Newbie. Mom and young son on our first adventure of choosing a ball python as a pet. In one of your other videos you mention the Exo-Terra terrarium with the size: 45x45x45. Is it a starter snake kit? I cannot find this item in store or online. I really think the one you have in the video is ideal for us. Do you have a link on which terrarium it is?
Okay my 2 close friends and I really wanna do a pet for all of us. I have a couple reptiles, and so do they. We want to get a milk snake, and pass it around each 2-3 months.. same cage size, and close to the same set up. It would kind of be like a class pet, but between the three of us. I just wanna know if you think this would be an okay thing to do?:)) Thanks:))
Thanks to you, i got my first snake, a common ball python named cookie, she is so sweet. Thank you for making this happen for me! You are so awesome!💜🐍
Love the vids keep It up 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I'm thinking about getting my first ball python tried do some research but would like your expert opinion I've hear some people say a heating pad is fine without a heat pad? others say you need both? also if you do need both do they stay on all the day and night? Also other people say you need different watts for lamps not 100 but smaller also some people say you should invest on a automatic thermostat for the humidity instead of a water bottle? and last question I have is I've heard a male can be in a 20 gallon tank but a female needs a 40 any nfo on these question will be really helpful thanks.
Hi Sky!
That's a lot of questions, I'll do my best to answer all of them! I can totally understand why you want a ball python, they are amazing creatures and quite unique. In my experience (!!) ball pythons thrive best in smaller terrariums, a 30 gallon will do just fine for both male and female adults, unless the female is a bit bigger thant the average you might want to step up to the 40. I use heat mats to keep the temperature correct in my terrarium. I do have a constant room temperature around 25-26 C in my reptile room and the heat mat is placed in one side of the terrarium, making sure the ball python has a heat spot. I turn off the heat mat during the night and turn it on in the morning, I use a timer so it works automatically. I can definitely recommend that! For the humidity I use the waterbowl only, that is more than enough to keep it at the right level for me. I do mist the hide during their shed, raising the humidity a little to help them get the shed off nicely.
I hope I answered all your questions, otherwise feel free to write me again! Best! :-)
Jossers Jungle thx so much this has been a great help 1 more question what do you do if you feed frozen/thawed and a snake won't eat do you leave it in there cage or can you refreeze it? I would hate to waste money or let the rats death be in vain
I’m currently in the process of getting a ball pythons and I have so many questions but as soon as I am unsure of something you post a video about it. Coincidence? I think not
Your videos are very helpful
But I really wanted a corn snake to but im just getting into snakes as pets but i do handle king snakes from the wild. They are everywhere here. Which would be best. Corn or king snake i have BP as a pet now
Hello. I have a question and I'm not sure which video to comment on. My snake has been pushing on areas of his cage with his nose. He does it so much that he gets bruising. Right now he is in the middle of a shed and he doesn't do this when he is shedding. His face heals after he sheds but I'm just afraid he will continue doing this and I hate seeing him do it. I was wondering if you could reply back with a tip? I have been changing things in his life and have learned some things that help for a while at least. He never causes permanent damage but I still don't like it. Thanks.
Your pet a super cool and especially you!
Pets and*
Thank you so much Mandy! :-)
Instead of buying for the snake you have could you not section off a long tank? A cut to fit piece of plastic held in place by silicone could easily be removed and replaced as the reptile grows into the tanks full size. Just a thought.
This may be a stupid question, but when you talk about gallon tank is this US or Imperial gallons thanks.
Congrats on 4+ subs
Hockey Lover Thank you! :-)
Could you use a storage bin with small drilled holes in the lid for a baby corn snake?
So I might be getting a corn snake, no other snake, and really want a vertical tank instead of a long rectangle. Would that be a good idea with a corn snake?
What if you don't know what age you're getting? I know for sure I'm getting a ball python in a few months, but I'm not sure of the age... they won't be a new hatchling, but not fully grown and probably still small... so only a couple months - POSSIBLY, so what would you guys recommend I do? Can I have the larger tank, but add lots of hiding places so it isn't scared or stressed? Or should I start smaller? (Yeah the preferred age is a couple months.. like 4-6?? Just a thought)
I wish I could have a ball python. I've loved reptiles since I was young, but my parents don't like them. I've learned so much about snakes from your channel and it's so amazing. I'm in love with the piebald python, but they are so expensive!! 😣😣 I'm waiting for the day they say yes. I hope they do.
Hi! I just recently found your channel. I am planning to get a snake soon but I would only be able ti feed her/him pre killed chickens or parts of chickens while it's still small. What kind of snake do you think would be a nice snake for a beginner like me in this case? ( sorry English is not my first language )
Hi Lex!
Sounds so exciting that you are getting your first snake! I usually recommend corn snake as a beginners snake, but I have made a video called "Top 5 beginners snakes". In that one I go indepth with 5 different species I think are good beginners snake, you can take a look at that if you'd like. I would recommend feeding mice and rats to your snake along with the chicken. I hope the video will answer your questions! :-)
Oh my life! You replied! Thank you so so much! ❤️ I watched that video as well and loved it! You did such a great job in explaining everything. :) Thing is, where I live, we don't have pre killed rodents. :( I could never feed life rodents to my snake because I love most rodents so much. Do you think it would be a bad idea for me to feed only poultry to the snake? If so, I would not keep one because I don't want to end up being a crappy keeper.hehehe
Of'course, I'm here to help!
I can't say for sure about the chicken, I have no experience with feeding only chickens, since mice/rats are the most common diet for snakes in captivity.
If I were you, I would ask that question in some forums or on reptile facebook groups, you might be lucky to find some with experience there :-)
Thank you so much! ❤️ You are such big help! ❤️
I feel like a minimum for corn snakes should be 40 gallon, not 20. Thank you for the video though! Very informative 😊
The bigger the better ^_^
This is an unrelated question, but I live in a tropical country where our daily temperature fluctuates between 28 Celsius to 33, I was wondering do I still need a heat map for my ball python?
It is a really good question, and I have recieved a lot like this before. It's difficult for me to answer, since I live in a fairly cold country. But I would say, as long as you can keep the temperature as it should be in the terrarium, you should be good. :-)
When you're using Newspaper as "bedding" for your ball python, how does it do with Humidity?
Im wondering because i'll be using Newspaper if my granny lets me get a Ball python, and i want to make sure i know the best way to keep the humidity right for my snake. I know bedding CAN make a difference with it, that's why im asking you.
I have a question can i place my ball pyhton in a 30gallon fish tank
Getting close to 5000 :D
Gabrielle Cristina The give-away is closing in! :-)
I need to know can i keep my ball pyhton in a fish aquarium Urgent
I literally binge watch your videos about snakes.
Bigger is ALWAYS better for any captive species no matter if it is reptiles, rodents, or birds. ESPECIALLY birds something that was born to fly! Smaller is fine for hatchlings, babies, and juveniles. But when they are full grown.. THEY NEED SPACE to explore and digest and exercise. Period
So, for juvenile ball python, should you recommend one which is bigger in length or hight or mixture of both?
if i got a hatchling ball python could i get a 20 gallon and then a 30 once it gets bigger? or is a 20 too big
You say a 30 Gal for a ball python but in that other vid you put Noel in a 20 Gal. How did he do in that one? I'm contemplating that same tank for my 8 month old male who's already 29".
My thing is if they were n the wild then they would have to deal with the size of e Africa or wherever n they still feed n they must deal with it being at times 120 degrees so how do we know a big terrarium would be to much when they have hides, how do they know their n a terrarium when they're first born
Hey there, would you say your female can comfortably live in a 30 or 40 for the rest of her days? I have a 25 gallon tank, 2 30s and a 40. I have a 900 gram male,, a 350 gram male, One young female about 250 grams currently and a 500 gram female coming! Thank youu!
Should my hatchling soba spend alot of her time outside her hides? (ball/royal) She really only goes to them to sleep. Ive never heard of one that does that. Other than that she just cruises around her tank.
She seems far too active for a ball python is all. Ive never heard of one being so active, so i was quite surprised.
1st maybe but i love your channel
what size should i get if im getting a tank for a california kingsnake hatchling?
Can I get a large vivarium and use tank dividers for when it's small?
My brother just got his first ball python. The breeder said she was a little nippy. From my research it means it is just a scared baby( 1 month old) trying to defend itself. Is there a way to make her calmer or stop trying to bite us?
Ace Dunscombe Leave her alone to settle in, giver her some good feeding making her comfortable, able to destress. And after 3-4 weeks of steady food and rest you can try to handle her 2-3 times a week for a couple of minutes. Up until they are 6 months it's their instinct kicking in, they think you are a threat. They will get used to you eventually :-)
How big is Noel's terrarium?
I really love your videos! They are really helpful cause I might get my first ball python! And once I own a second snake, I will name it after you cause your snake Noel sounds like my name.
Vanilla_Nu Kelly Thank you so much! I'm so thrilled to see your new snake, be sure to write me when the time comes! :-)
Jossers Jungle I will remember that😊
I know this video was made a long time ago, but I have a corn snake hatchling in a 20 gal tank. Will it be too stressed out or will it get used to it?
If you provide enough hides, clutter and climbing oppertunities I'm sure it will do just fine :-D
😍 u are to pretty
I wanted to see your tanks!
I put a branch in my ball pythons enclosure and she climbs it and stays in it almost every night, lol
i love everything thank you :) Cx
I have a 35 gallon tank for my 1 year old ball python. (About 270 grams and 60cm long) do you think it’s too big for her?
There’s no such thing as an enclosure that’s too big, that’s a stupid myth. They’re scared of open spaces, not large enclosures. Even if it’s “too big”, add some clutter in the enclosure and your ball python will be fine.
Is 2 foot with lots of hides good for a hatchling
31 like love this channel so much keep up the awesome work
My new ball that I just got about two Sundays ago all of a sudden the past 2 days has been trying to escape for hours on end, idk if in doing anything wrong or not, temp and humidity seem to be fine but fine differs with different people. I honestly have no clue what to do
Hi Kyle
It could sound like maybe there is a problem with the heat. I cannot say for sure. But what I can do is have a look at the terrarium and give a qualified guess. If you like, you can send me an email jossersjungle@gmail.com with a picture or two of the terrarium and I'll have a look and help if I can :-)
Jossers Jungle ok thanks I will do that, also I think he may not like his new neighbor, I did just realize he started doing this about the same time I put the crested gecko tank next to his
Ah yes, that might have something to do with it. He may see your gecko as food :-)
Jossers Jungle yea I moved the gecko cage and he stopped immediately
Fantastic! Great job! :-)
i want to be a corn snake mom and i have a 75 gallon fish aquarium. Are fish tanks ok to keep a snake in?
Generally fish tanks are not recommended because they don't have good enough ventilation, but they can work just fine if you make sure plenty of air can through the lid, example by building a new one with lots of airholes :-)
hi! i just ordered a blue eyed lucy but i'm a bit confused with heating. will he be okay with one large heat pad that covers the whole floor? should i also have a basking light in one side?
Samantha Cravinhos Hi Samantha
As good rule the heating mat should cover max 1/3 of the terrarium, depending on the size of the snake and terrarium. No basking spot is needed, ball pythons can get stressed with too much light. The terrarium needs to be warm in one side and cold in the other, allowing the snake to regualte their body temperature. Remember the heat mat should not go inside the terrarium, but underneath it. I would recommend you to do some research before getting your BEL, have a look at some different care sheet on google! Good luck to both of you :-)
Jossers Jungle thank you so so so so much! it's only a matter of time before your following is huge and you won't be able to respond to all these questions people have lol
My ball python is a year old and around a foot long and is in a 20 gallon tank rn so do I need to upgrade or wait till they get a bit bigger
Your ball python sounds terribly undersized. Mine is only a few months old and is already 2 feet. Is it eating well? I would keep it in a 20g for a while until it's 2 feet long
omg are you from denmark!!!!
Yes! Are you from Denmark too?
Hello! I'm thinking about getting a snake I'm 14 but also very mature and responsible for my age I really want a ball python do you think that's a good first snake?
Kayley Fontenot If you do your research a ball python could be the right one for you. I would recommend watching my video "Top 5 beginners snake" for more information on good beginners snake :-)
What the best size terra tank for a bull paython please be a massive hlep
Where are you from, if you don't mind me asking?
I'm from Denmark :-)
Can you plz do more vids on California king snake
Absolutely! :-)
Jossers Jungle and milk snake maybe? 💖
I am going to get a male ball python. The breeder said that a 20 gallon long would be fine. He probably is only going to grow another 3 inches. Is that ok?
I would go a little bigger :-)
Would a 25 be good?
The breeder told me he gets stressed in bigger cages.
i just got a ball python a week ago and he's name is venom
...... he has been active ever night, is that good?🤔
Yes. They are typically nocturnal.
can i keep ball pythons together in the same enclosure for example can i keep my 3 year old ball python with my 6 month old ball python.??? I've heard different answers but would prefer yours :)
I wouldn't recommend it. It can cause stress and they might attack each other :-)
Jossers Jungle ok thank you very much, Love your videos they are very helpful
Should you feed your snake in their home or outside their home ???
I always feed inside the terrarium :-)
i just adopted a 4 and a half foot female red tail boa, i've been researching and i put her in a 150 gallon tank. It's 6 foot long 2 feet tall and 2 feet deep, is this to big?
walker esquibel I wouldn't really think so. But just research it incase 😊
walker esquibel I've just started out as a snake owner and am loving it so much so far, I do want to get another one in a year or so and want to get either anther corn snake or a boa, would you recommended a boa to date a beginner/intermediate owner(i don't know if that's the word)? Current am using a 8 or 12 litre rub for my corn and this year upgrading to a 3.5foot vivarium. I hardly have room(I do for 1 vivarium) so I don't know if it's safe to have another 3.5/4foot vivarium on top of another one with a snake in it.
faynts i would recommend getting a boa! The only thing is they grow to be anywhere from 10 feet and in rare cases 12 feet. So you have to have the space. My girl is only 3 and is pushing 4 and 1/2 - 5 feet, so they do grow pretty quickly and that's something you should keep in mind.
