Took me 2 years but I got 1st to 2nd perfectly smooth. It's a skill issue no doubt.
It’s a great car, for the right person….. it’s just something you’re gonna have to test drive & determine if you can live with it for daily driving….
I’d say if you’re concerned about the seats, brakes, maintenance MPGs & the price, then buy a Focus ST. The RS is basically an ST that is hopped up on steroids.
I agree, the ST is so similar but at the same time is not even in the same ballpark as the RS performance wise.
Focus RS Gang!
The engine mount didnt take care of 1st to 2nd shift jerk. The inly way to really fix it is to shift to 2nd when you reach 2k or less and give it gas when letting the clutch go
But the clutch is so springy it's hard to do lol
So I'm not all the way through your video yet but wanted to comment. First off with a full disclosure. I'm 39 and I have driven manuals my whole adult life from learning to drive at 15 on but I've never had much money so almost every car I've had was a beater until about 5 years ago, I got a Focus ST in 18 and traded for a Focus RS in 19. So from my comments, I have limited experience with nicer vehicles.
On your hate list, maybe there is a difference in the 16 vs the 17 or maybe it would be a vehicle to vehicle thing, but I have no trouble starting out slowly and my clutch is one of the smoothest I've ever driven. It is nicer than the one I had my 2016 ST. I do agree with the gauge for the boost and oil temp. It is more difficult to read than it should be. Also, I never paid much attention to the delay in the dash display but you do have a point. The door noise is something I never noticed either and I guess I'm just used to low end cars but I can't notice anything to complain about. Same goes for the turn signals placement. I've driven mostly ford's my whole life and I guess I've just gotten used to it. If I had to complain about anything on my vehicle, I'd complain that my driving modes get disabled in very cold weather. Does that happen on your's? I'll comment again maybe or your likes. Thanks.
Glad to hear you got an RS as well! I might have over exaggerated about the clutch because I did want to come up with 5 things I Like/Hate for each. I think it's more of the auto rev when letting out the clutch kind of distracts me the most because I try my best to not drag the clutch but the rpms go up without even hitting the gas. The clutch is stiff compared to other cars I have driven but that's to be expected because they weren't 350hp from factory either. Also my idea of quality is from my Audi I had a few years ago so that's what I usually compare cars by in my eye. I still have yet to be in any car as well crafted as an Audi but a bigger price tags comes with it. The sound of the door is very hollow in my opinion you could sorta hear it in the video. I'm not sure if it's just my driver door or all my doors but I will check tomorrow because I'm curious now. My drive modes, T/C, and AWD were disabled but that was because of my airbag issues prior to rebuilding it, I haven't had any problems since. Thanks for sharing your side of things!
FYI oil temp and pressure are algo based on rpm and coolant temp and not true. They are fake, boost is the only real time gauge. Look up for more info.
Buddy just blew his red RS... They denied his repair at the dealer too lmao because it was tuned.
Have you ever driven the Focus ST? I owned one for a few years before buying an RS. The clutch in THAT thing is so heavy that it makes the one in the RS look like God's gift to manual transmissions.
A Steeda clutch spring helped. But, for reasons I don't fully understand, the one in the RS is somehow lighter.
Yes, the ST one was pretty off and on as well. I wasn’t really a fan of the ST because of the torque steer.
From owning an ST, 2015 WRX, 2004 STi, and a stage 2 clutch on a 500hp 335i to an RS this is by far the most manageable clutch out of any of those cars in my opinion. (Also torque steer on the ST can be modded to a comfterable level, but that is the price you pay with ANY FWD performance car)
@@CalebEckenrodeowning an ST feels a lot faster when you have torque steer lol is not too bad compared to an SRT or MS3
Can I get that Sync update link?
Yes I’ll probably make a full video on it next week
Sounds like a solid car

Thank you!
wish the launch control was just a button click
Is it worth it to buy a Ford focus Rs 2018 for 45k in 2023?
