  • Learn how to sell your voice and earn money as a voice over artist recording your voice for UA-cam videos. I'll teach you how I became a voice over artist with NO experience around 4 years ago. I bought a microphone, turned my closet into a sound booth, and recorded a small demo reel that I edited in Audacity (a free audio editing program).
    I then found and applied to many small voice jobs and submitted my demo reel. I also did custom samples if a script was provided so they would know exactly the type of voice they would get if they hired me. Slowly, I built up my reputation and became top-rated with a 100% success rating. Learn more about becoming a voice over artist with no experience by watching my video!

I don't know why you're getting so less views while there are youtubers cashing up on click baited videos with so much fan following. Wishing you the best of luck for your future videos! I am very interested in seeing more videos on how to get started in voiceover as a beginner! I've watched a ton of videos already but I'm not as familiar with Upwork as I am with Fiverr so I feel really intimidated by even applying to Upwork while having no experience in voiceover. I'm looking forward to seeing more videos like this 😊

    Just gone through 4 of your Upwork videos, and it's been a gem. Subscribed! After retiring, I'm joining as a VO talent as well. Something I keep getting told is that I HAVE to have a pro demo before I can do this. I haven't got a pro demo yet. I've also been told, by well-established VO talent, that the YT voiceovers on Upwork are many times a scam. Has your opinion and your take on these 2 issues changed in 2023? I know, you're not doing those types of jobs, but thought I'd ask anyway. Thanks for all that you do. 👍

    What good tips Jennifer!! This one is definitely going on my saved list of moneymaking ideas.
    The Yeti does seem like the minimum standard, doesn't it??
    So *what kind of texts do you advise one to record for demos* ?

    • @JenniferMarieVO
      @JenniferMarieVO  Рік тому +2

      Thank you! Yes, any of the Blue microphones are great for starters. Blue snowball, blue yeti, yeti nano, etc. As for scripts, try to find a demo script related to the voice job you are applying to. You can find a bunch of demo scripts online by Googling "voice over demo scripts " plus the niche (narration, corporate, UA-cam" etc. Or just find an article online and record yourself reading it in the style that appeals to the job role. For UA-cam, it's usually quick-paced, excited, and energetic.

    Hi, Love your Video , Thank you so much, Just one Question, Did you started with an interface ? (or the Mic and Audacity do the work for a begginner?) I’ve seen many videos that said an interface is needed. Would appreciate your feedback.

    • @JenniferMarieVO
      @JenniferMarieVO  2 місяці тому +1

      Hello! No, I didn't. When I started out, I just had a USB Yeti microphone that I plugged into my laptop. As long as your audio sounds good, it doesn't matter if you use an interface or not when you are starting out. That is something you can upgrade to later on. :)

    How long did it take you to make the almost 90K from the time you started, and how many work hours does all that represent? I'm trying to get a sense of the effort that went into it to get your results, and I know it'll be different for everyone, but at least it's a data point. Thanks in advance for sharing.

    Jennifer, the thing I don't like about upwork is that my account got banned since I sent too many proposals. They have some idiotic criteria, if someone sends too many proposals they will terminate them. I sent 30 proposals in 30 days and got 5-7 jobs out of it because of sheer competition and they banned me for that.

    • @MusicalMarble
      @MusicalMarble 7 місяців тому +1

      That happened to me when I was a copywriter. Though in their defense I got 1 job out of all my proposals.

    Wow, Jennifer, great video! I discovered your channel this morning and definitely subscribed. Several years ago, I went down the Audacity path and began trying my hand at audiobook recording. For some reason, I stepped away from it, but not before investing in a good mic, pop filter, etc. I like the idea of UA-cam voiceover work because they would be shorter than an entire book. I may revisit the voiceover world. If I do, I will certainly watch your videos.
    My main question is what screen recording software do you use? I like the annotation capability of it. I do not plan to become a UA-camr, but could entertain the idea of doing educational tutorial-type videos - which would utilize good, solid screen recording software. I would also be interested in learning about all of the equipment and software you use for your videos, if you are willing to share.
    Again, thank you for the excellent video! I look forward to watching many more!

    I was searching for videos on payment options for VO talent. Examples from Upwork or ACX.
    I'm referring to your preferences on most secure methods. Ie., PayPal etc. No one has helped with sharing info on this specifically. What when you land the job. They ask. How you want to be paid

    • @JenniferMarieVO
      @JenniferMarieVO  Рік тому +1

      Payment is all done through Upwork's platform and you get paid directly into your bank account. I opened up a Wise personal account and linked it to Upwork so my USD earnings are deposited directly into the account and from there, I can transfer to my Canadian bank account. Check out my Upwork payment tutorials and my Wise tutorial if you want to learn more. :)

      Omg you are excellent!
      This is all new to me.
      So you use Wise as the bridge between your direct bank account.
      Is that correct
      So you don't recommend using your bank account directly to give to clients
      I'm also asking in reference to ACX pay by hour payments.
      I was only concerned. Because we are independent contacts and jobs can be world wide.
      Is I'm a security freak
      Thank you again. I will be following from now on.
