    Great video, Bill. Trust me, I have known Bill for over a decade. He not only talks the talk, he walks the walk! His VO advice is always simple and easy to understand; not vague and ambiguous, or get-rich-quick and pie-in-the-sky...and he cuts through the "noise" of the myriad of VO coaches out there who are selling their products and services. Above and beyond that, Bill is a genuinely caring guy who bends over backwards to help. Thanks Bill.

    Word to the wise: Don’t do royalty share on ACX except as a way to get practice. That’s where you don’t get paid up front. You share the profits with the author. If the author doesn’t have money to pay you, he doesn’t have money to promote it nor is he a proven author.

      Do you not just research the specific author before deciding, to ascertain whether their books are successful sellers or not?

    Was an actor when I was young. Got into a bout of depression searching for my place in the world. Didnt think anything of acting could be done where i am with what i have. Discovered voice acting a bit ago and watched it change during covid. I want this.

    i was previously in radio but never had an announcer type voice. always wanted to do this never knew how to. I had experience in voicing commercials and even producing them in the smaller stations. I've been watching all these videos and with a 1000 bucks I think I might be able to do this at least part time. thanks

    Thank you so much for all of these videos.
    Videos like this are so helpful because when I went on the forums/Facebook group, to see what people were saying about voiceover, it was so overwhelming.
    All of the microphones, equipment etc, you have to have, agents, a coach @ $50/hr...I thought, I'm going to have to spend thousands of dollars to try to do this and it might not even be successful.
    But now because of you, I actually feel like I can give it a shot.

      @@VoiceCoach-BillDeWees Hey there, I want to start on voice over as it looks like something I could do and would enjoy doing it too. I recently found your channel and your videos are really helpful for someone new like me so thank you so much for sharing. Currently I have a Shure sm58 and I think I'll just start using it as it is still a very good mic, and if I can land some voice over gigs with it I'll be able to buy myself a condenser mic to improve my sound quality. I've been looking in the range of about 300 dollars and I've seen 3 models that look attractive to me that I can afford without dying which are the Rode NT1, the Seinnheiser MK4 and the Audio Technica AT4040. Do you have anything to say about these mics? I've heard they are great to start on voice over if you want to become serious about it. Again thanks again for your videos and any feedback is very appreciated. Have a wonderful day.

    Hey Bill, what's the mic setup here. I'm blind in one eye and legally blind in the other. A total beginner who will have to aim for short scripts only and will need an overhead setup like this so I can get close to the computer screen. Is this a dynamic mic? At age 62 I've been told thousands of times I should be in VO. I know my voice is only a small part of the business, but I'll be needing at least a part-time income for retirement. Do you remember which Mike you were using here? Thank you so much for all you do. What makes you great is what comes out of your heart, not just what comes out of your mouth!

      Hi Tom good luck with this. Be aware that you have to be "perfect" on the day so practise, practise, practise. I had been a TV Host when a month after leaving the Network I was asked to do my first Voice-Over by a company I was doing some live Hosting for. I showed up and thought it would be easy because I had such a powerful voice that everyone said was great but was quickly brought down to Earth. I had a lot of trouble with a pronunciation or word slip or grammar and taking intense Direction which seemed silly to me so we took a long time to lay down the tracks. The engineer told me that just because people say you have a great voice unless they work in the biz they have no idea how hard it really is. Find some Talent Agency's pages where they have recordings of their pros. That will give you an idea of just how good you have to be.

    Hi Bill, thank you very much for your informative and helpful videos. I am a voice over artist, and I would like to ask for your advice as I am upgrading my equipment; I need to choose between Neumann TLM 102 and Sennheiser MK4, which one do you recommend? I have not tried any of them, but since I will invest my money in a large diaphram condenser mic, I want to get the best of them. Would you plz help in this? of if there are any cons that I need to know before deciding? Thanks in advance!

    • @02mb
      @02mb 2 роки тому

      If you mean the MKH-416, they're both great and you're stylin' with either one. The former is an industry standard while the latter might as well be too, though studios often stock its older and more expensive brother, the U87.
      The 416 rejects more off-axis sound and naturally makes my voice sound a little deeper--which is not necessarily a good thing--while the 102 likely will pick up a little more nuance... but nobody other than an engineer would likely notice the difference.
      Recommendation: MKH-416. It's a standard for a reason, travels well, and a side bonus is that it stays out of your way since it's so much smaller than the TLM 102. Either way though, you can't go wrong.

    • @nourhanmagdi_vo
      @nourhanmagdi_vo 2 роки тому
