Saem, but i dont think im going to any sorts of acting classes for awhile since it's kinda embarrasing and im not sure if ill actually commit or not. Maybe when im independent and still have that interest am i going to sign up for some sort of class. Im really interested in voice acting though, I feel like id have fun doing it but having fun and succeeding are different things.
I feel ya, it took me probably a couple months of recording to even get used to hearing myself but you get over it and realize that in order for you to get to where you wanna be, your gonna need to get over that hurdle. Trust me, once you start recording and being comfortable, things will come into place.
A good way to broaden the voices you can do is to keep trying to do the one you're imagining in your head, outloud, over and over even if it sounds like crap and not like what you want at all. Because the more you do it the more adjustments you make and the end result is the voice you wanted or something close. I did a Mexican accent from the 3rd grade and up for years. Sounded retarded until highschool when it finally was on point to a T. Not all voices have to take years, but the take away is just simply experiment with your vocal cords.
Honestly the older you get, the more the need for your voice. It also gives you more time to hone and develope your skill to cater to the ever growing need for your styles you can perform best. I'm almost 28, and am wanting to pursue this further now.
I submitted my free audition yesterday. It was recorded on my phone. I listened to the others’ auditions and whoo boy, are they so good. But I honestly have so much fun doing voice acting.
I just want to say thank you for the information, the encouragement and staying nice, humble and funny. Long story short, I’ve been severely depressed for over a decade, been working since I was 13, and never followed my passions because of financial security and lack of support/understanding. Almost hitting 30 and I’m experiencing the darkest days of my life until I found this video; because I was even tired of looking at a TV with the same thing on, so I just searched for something meaningful and I looked up voice acting. I’m going to take your advice and start going to classes and actually try to make this happen. You might have possibly saved a life because now I feel deeply motivated again to figure out what could be possible. Thank you so much. God bless you really ✨
That was some really great advice, starting out is the hardest part of anything and you had plenty of tips for things to do. It would be amazing if this video actually helps someone start a voice acting career.
I won hundred percent agree. This video was the first one I found on voice acting and how to go about getting started. Your prediction might be truer than you thought. It certainly has helped me.

As soon as my kids are off to college I'm hoping to at least check out LA so I can get into games and cartoons, which is my real dream. But until then I'm totally going to do whatever I can where I'm at.

I don't mean to hate and I don't mean this in any insulting way it's just she sounds the same in all her impressions and voice acting. That's not to say that yeah she's good she really gives the emotions and all just she sounds the same I hear no difference.
You don't have to sound different to be a voice actor. Although that is cool, there are a handful of voice actors who use their default voice for many characters, and you've probably noticed them, too. Cree Summer for example (Numbah 5) has such a gritty voice that she's used in Voltron Legendary Defenders and a handful of other roles. VO casters hire you for your voice and whether or not you fit the role they're looking for. *Then* they'll worry about impressions and pitch if they see you're close enough to their ideal@@mochiteacutie Edit - Wow she literally even touches on this within the first minute of the video which means you probably didn't pay attention
I’m shy and have social anxiety and was told I had an amazing voice on streams. I use to voice act with toys as a kid and loved making a villain voice. As a kid I realized villains do bad stuff, because bad stuff happened to them and it was left unchecked, so they cope with bad things done to the world. Now as an adult I use my depression as an act to sound evil, and it works! I made myself cry by acting like a villain sometimes.
This is a very insightful video, Brizzy. I myself have wanted to get into voiceover work for a long time. You really showed how one should start if they want to do this. And I thank you so much for uploading this. It really helps a lot.
This is A very legit video! When I took my first voice over class a lot of us thought itd be cool to have our teacher make a little reel of the clips we did. He was honest and simply said "Trust me. You do NOT want those." It wasnt until after the class where I started getting the hang of it more. 2 big things we were taught was things Brizzy is doing, using hand motions (your words follow your hands) and smiling all the time so that the words have amazing diction and are crystal clear.
Wanted to return here and say thanks, Anna! I watched this video in early 2021 and it helped me launch an entirely new career! And almost all of the advice holds true in 2024! Only changes I can think of: Behind The Voice Actors has stopped running auditions (newcomers can try Casting Call Club instead), and while I imagine being based in any of the cities mentioned is still a major advantage, the pandemic made remote careers more possible (for some genres at least). Thank you again!
My younger sister, Sammi, really wants to get into voice acting. This video will be very helpful for her. She is 14, but she has a good range of voices, including accents. I really want to help her. So I am creating a few different webseries, original and fanmade, that she will be able to do a bunch of different voices in. Brizzy, do you have anything else advice wise that we should know? Or is pretty anything that you could say, in this video?
@@FairyPrincess Aww ^^ thank you. The webseries will be a lot of hardwork. Especially since i have to do all the writing and most of the art. But i do have some help from friends. But it will be worth it for her.
I started pursuing voice over a few years ago, and I''m glad you're doing a video like this because there wasn't much info when I started out. Through sheer luck, I met Crispin Freeman and he told me about his Voice Acting Mastery podcast which is how I got started. I recorded my demo in Santa Monica December of 2018, and got signed to MAM talent agency in Seattle the following April. Unfortunately, it hasn't led to me getting many opportunities. I can count on one hand the number of VO auditions they've given me in a year. So no major games or animations yet, but I'm still plugging away at it because it's what I love doing.
I’m striving to become an animator but also a voice actor too. I enjoy cartoons so much to the point where I’d try to sound like those characters from the shows I watch, and I will say, I think I do a pretty good Warner Sibling’s impression.

@@bigearsstudios3287 I'm dead af IN! i figured i should do this as I'm told that i was great at the acting thing when i had people with the project for a local broadcast TV series. i really wanna see how far I'll get :)
I'm still a new Animator and would love to make parodies and stuff 😂 I also want to voice act as well!! 😭❤️ If you have anything in mind that you would like to act with!! I'm down to any, just for fun and practice!! ❤️ I'm super active on Instagram @victorcaberte. Would love to hear your voiceee!! 😍
When you wanna voice act but you are really insecure about your voice
feelsbadman
I feel ya, it took me probably a couple months of recording to even get used to hearing myself but you get over it and realize that in order for you to get to where you wanna be, your gonna need to get over that hurdle. Trust me, once you start recording and being comfortable, things will come into place.
Most relatable thing..
@ItzPearlLeaf no offence but no one asked lol
A good way to broaden the voices you can do is to keep trying to do the one you're imagining in your head, outloud, over and over even if it sounds like crap and not like what you want at all. Because the more you do it the more adjustments you make and the end result is the voice you wanted or something close. I did a Mexican accent from the 3rd grade and up for years. Sounded retarded until highschool when it finally was on point to a T. Not all voices have to take years, but the take away is just simply experiment with your vocal cords.
I'm 29 years old and I'm just starting into my passion in VO... I hope I'm not too late in pursuing this as a career.
It’s never too late to pursue your dreams. Especially in VO/VA because unless you are in an accident that steals your voice you will always have it.
Michael Garcia I’m also 29 and I would love to start VA. I have anxiety though so it might just stay as a dream😅 I wish you the best of luck!
@@playerpluto I worked my anxiety by doing stand up gigs and just being in front of crowds. Slowly but surely, it helped a lot. Next is doing improv
Honestly the older you get, the more the need for your voice. It also gives you more time to hone and develope your skill to cater to the ever growing need for your styles you can perform best. I'm almost 28, and am wanting to pursue this further now.
People have already told you. There's definitely no such thing as too late. I'm 3 years in and still getting my feet wet. Have passion and dedication!
I submitted my free audition yesterday. It was recorded on my phone. I listened to the others’ auditions and whoo boy, are they so good. But I honestly have so much fun doing voice acting.
How did it go?
imawhale it’s just sitting there. Never even been considered lol
This comment is literally Ah, let us now what happens
Do you have to audition from home?
Where did you submit auditions?
That's so fantastic! Hopefully your feeling a lot better. How's the voice acting going?
Yeah how are you doing I'm excited too but a little scared
That was some really great advice, starting out is the hardest part of anything and you had plenty of tips for things to do. It would be amazing if this video actually helps someone start a voice acting career.
I won hundred percent agree. This video was the first one I found on voice acting and how to go about getting started. Your prediction might be truer than you thought. It certainly has helped me.
Seriously, I want to go for voice acting career! xD I hv just a few options for my future career, music and cooking, but I realized that I LOVE doing impressions and voice acting since young and I'm dying to get a voice acting career! xD Unfortunately my parents won't understand -_-
I am actively looking for voice actors for my video game.

How'd it go?
I do voices and accents all the time, it's pretty much my personality. Everyone says I SHOULD voice act, but honestly that was always more of a fantasy of mine, cause of course we all watch alot of cartoons. But perhaps I will use this, if my art doesn't work😂👌
THECOMICBOOKMAN 6185 same here everyone i know says I should voice act because I do impressions and accents for them and its basically what shaped my personallity
Felt that
I'm 41 and it's still my dream career. I'm already trying to do stuff in my city, taking improv classes, and doing voice-acting classes. I'm reading my friend's audiobook. As soon as my kids are off to college I'm hoping to at least check out LA so I can get into games and cartoons, which is my real dream. But until then I'm totally going to do whatever I can where I'm at.
I want to be a cartoonist, or comic artist... But i also wanna voice act. I feel I can only do one or the other.

This is a huge help for me, as I’m an aspiring voice actor, and am finally getting to that point where I’m being requested for very small paying jobs, like web series’ etc. I wasn’t sure where to go from there, and how to become even bigger, so knowing all these resources for further practice and insight will definitely help me out in the long run! Thank you so much for this video, and everything else you make on this channel, and elsewhere! You have no idea how much of an inspiration you are to me!! :)
Any tips for getting started?

Where did you apply for these webseries?
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for your first tip being “it’s acting.” It is and many people don’t realize that. I heard it from a friend “Having a pretty voice in voice over is like having pretty legs as a runner. It will get you some attention for a while but eventually people are going to want someone who can run. Make sure you are a runner.” :)
That's super well put!
The fact that I am watching this after a day on set as an extra is mind-blowing. (You were and still is my motivation to start acting) So thank you!
I would indeed be interested in seeing more videos on voice acting.
Your "Press one for English" threw me off so much, I thought I accidentally dialled the system to add credit to my phone 🤣.
Nice top by the way 👍.
HAHA omg
@@brizzyvoices funniest part is, the entire system is in English, that's what confused me the most 😂.

Soo happy I found your channel! ❤I have been taking VO/ Acting classes & absolutely looove it!! And I was just pondering how I could get more practice and training in outside of my classes. I know this is a very old video but I've been watching your stuff for a while and just rewatched this one and wanted to say thank you. I submitted a couple of auditions just last night. I may be way too old to be doing this but I'm gonna give it a shot and have fun with it. Thank you for your insight over the years.
How do you audition? I know she explained it but I still don’t get it.
@@MagicYT6 Behind The Voice Actors (mentioned in the video) closed its casting call pages a couple of years ago. But Casting Call Club is still great website to audition for volunteer projects. It even lets you listen to other people's auditions to get a feel for what to do. Have fun!
The mic doesn't care about your actual age 😉 Go for it!
It’s amazing how many people are like “I can do a lot of voices” that’s nice, work on actual acting. I don’t think people realize how difficult it is to come across as someone they arent. Acting is a art regardless if you’re seen or just heard. Practice and maybe your dreams will come true! Good luck improving your acting skills 👍

To all the other people starting their journey on CCC and online projects, good luck! You can do it!
Heck yeah! Brizzy Voices, Grey Griffin, and Tara Strong are three of the greatest voice actors of all time! No doubt about it.
you flatter me
Brizzy Voices hi , I am interested in becoming a voice actor. Thanks for uploading this. It’s really helpful:) .
*Then* they'll worry about impressions and pitch if they see you're close enough to their ideal@@mochiteacutie
Edit - Wow she literally even touches on this within the first minute of the video which means you probably didn't pay attention
Brizzy voices rocks!
I was just excepted in a voice acting job I'm so happy and I just needed some info and I love your stuff

Me and my Sister watched this and she now wants to be a voice actor so...❤️
This is a very insightful video, Brizzy.
2 big things we were taught was things Brizzy is doing, using hand motions (your words follow your hands) and smiling all the time so that the words have amazing diction and are crystal clear.
your voice acting is the best and thank you for all your kindness!!!!
Hey this is the kind of carrier I wanna do perfect! I have been told my voices are good so thank ya
I love you so much brizzy please see this. EDIT: WAIT BRIZZY THANK YOU SO MUCH THIS JUST MADE MY DAY 😭😭😭

May I ask why not ACX or Fiver? Or one of the many other ways?
