I'm 74 and grew up, like many of you here, listening to the very best bands that ever existed. The Moody Blues were, and still are, my very favorite by a mile. I've been fortunate to see them live 13 times in my life. They were the only band whose music I completely listened to, focusing on every word of their story. I would listen to them in pitch dark with my Pioneer headphones on, and literally drift away into their world of unrestricted vision and euphoria. No other band then, or since, has had that effect on me. To call them unique is a major understatement. They clearly are the best combination of incredibly talented musicians that may never be seen again. RIP, Ray, and thank you for your contributions. P.S. - fifty two years later, I still have the headphones and they still work. Some of the very best memories of my life!
Moody Blues plus Pioneer Headphones... Swoon! I'm 64 but I was also blown away, sitting in my bedroom, with my parents pottering around downstairs, listening to MB albums on the cheap portable my Dad gave me. No Pioneer headphones for me until much later, but they were the best.
Ever since I heard Nights In White Satin for the first time in the mid 70's it became and still is my favorite song. My oldest brother bought the album it was on and I would only be able to listen to it when he was and he would not let me play it when he was not around. I've never heard this song I just listened to and it is very relaxing too.
73 here, seen them twice, in Long Beach and Salt Lake City. What I remember from the Huntsman Center in SLC, was the bassline from "The Other Side of Life." The song started, the bass kicked in, the walls of the arena started shaking, the capacity crowd of teens, their parents, and assorted geezers like me started hypnotically swaying as one. And me, laughing, on exiting the show, watching the teens sneaking out, hoping their friends wouldn't see them at a "Boomer" show...good times!
I'm going to 70 next month and the Moody Blues are my favored group for 53 years already. The reasons you have excellent described. At my funeral I go into the next life with the Moody Blues.
I know what your saying- turn 75 in five months and have loved the Moody’s since 67. And still listen to these albums in the car on long trips. One of the BEST bands of ALL time
I am retiring from my job tomorrow, and this song will always be with me! We are all in the 'HANDS OF TIME' and we need to slow down and enjoy our lives!! ❤
I gave my son my my entire record collection, which included all of the Moody Blues albums. He bought a 60s vintage stereo console to play them on. Some of them do appreciate the good stuff. He loved it because he was exposed to it daily. I play music 24/7. He didn't stand a chance. 😊

My best friend and I use to sit on a waterbed with a quadraphonic stereo in our early 20's. 1971-72. We were in Gainesville at UF Architectural school. At each corner of the room a speaker. He just went through major open heart surgery today. I cried in relief when i heard the operation was a success. We have committed to spending more time together. Spirit and the Moodys brought us together and we continue as best friends. Love their music and always will.
The very best band ever. They went places no one else ever did, not just with their lyrics but with their music; and when they put them both together, it became a magic that has never been heard before or since.

I am 68 years old and have been listening to The Moody blues daily since I was a teenager. Listening to The Moody blues is one of my most favorite things to do.
Beautiful and very wise. As a 65-year-old, I recommend serving this piece to young people, because our human life is indeed similar to a burning candle.
The Moody Blues collectively have a way with words and emotion. They convey depth, sensitivity, intelligence, spiritual emphasis, love, and, discernment in human life. They are above any and all contrasts. The Moody Blues exist in a musical universe by themselves. Throughout time they will have NO one else who can even come even remotely close to what they have done. God bless them for how much they have enriched so many lives, mine included.
Yes indeed, beyond the dog eat dog rat race of the present money/profit system, a society where human needs and the health of the planet are the Driving Force.

I’m not in the 7 club anyway I’m 65 and old enough to say that we have gone through the best music decade ever. From 66 to 76 + 2 more years. After that everything is coming down hill. This kind of music keep us going steady.
For years I thought : "What a great sounding Grand piano!" Nope. Saw a video of them performing it live, and it's Mike Pinder's Mellotron Synthesizer I was hearing, not a grand.
I agree Johannes... Been listening over 50years and love them even more now than I thought I did before. Laid my path in life with every song.... Bless u my friend 🤎
I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite song of theirs, they are all my favorites, and being 82 I have a lot of catching up to do. I must have been asleep thirty or so years ago to have missed these guys. God I love these guys and got to see Justin Hayward last Thurs at the Egg in Albany. I have never had such a grand time in my life as I did then, even if I did trip on a curb coming in and landed face first on the cement. Bent my glasses all to h--- and have a nice shiner now and what a concert it was. He was great and in great voice, I cried when he sang Watching and Waiting, couldn't help it that song gets me every time.I will remember this concert for as long as I am allowed on this earth. And my thanks to each and everyone who posts their songs so I can have the fun I missed all those years ago. God I love these guys

The Utica Moody Blues show after the Boilermaker footrace was, I think the best I have heard...right at the Stanley ! Peace, Irene
I'm now 63. Listened to Days OFP when it was first released. I was helping a friend paint his parent's house in Outback NSW, Australia. We had a crappy turntable and DOFP. Nothing else. We easily played it 100 times over a 3-day session. After that, I was an MB tragic. Every girlfriend I had was given the MB intro. Not one didn't like them. They have been there for me for the last 50+ years. At every bad time in my life they were there and always with a pertinent song to help me along. And more so in the last 6 months after being diagnosed with Prostate cancer (I was not aware at the time that Ray has passed from this cancer). It appears that 99% is gone and maybe even 100%. I had 39 radiation treatments over an 8 wk period and whilst motionless on the machine I would request my music thru their system which piped into the lab. The MB's got a helluva good workout. The young technicians started coming up to me to ask who they were being played (much to their surprise they really liked the music and unique sounds). More converts! My point? Every day whilst motionless being treated I was crying my eyes out with the emotions running thru me. I never used to cry, not sure why I do now but I think it all takes me back to better times? You never go on to any other band's website etc and have the fans saying how their music saved them etc (OK, maybe there's another band but get my drift) as you do with the MB's. Question? I'm surprised how little variation there is in available original videos/live concerts/etc. Apart from UA-cam is there anywhere else to find this? I am a member of the Fanclub but admit I rarely go there. Thank you, EVERYBODY. SUCH A DIVERSE GROUP OF PEOPLES WITH ONE COMMON LOVE

I was born in '75. My mother loved The Moody Blues, so naturally I was named Justin. I remember her playing their records all throughout my childhood. To this day, whenever I hear their music, I think of how blessed I was as a child. Life and the memories we keep are so precious!

The Moody Blues are my religion! Their music is filled with spirituality, positivity, love and important messages. I've been a fan and follower since the 60s. Had "Isn't Life Strange" (my personal anthem) played as I walked down the aisle; and it is in my will that it will be played at my funeral. God bless the Moodies!
Ii recently bought a CD with this song onit and played it while driving my son to his karate class. At 10 yrs. old he wants to hear it over and again. Good music just gets passed on...
@@MrAdvance2go Yeah, I think it's Pinder on the mellortron, which I only realized a couple of yeas back isn't really even a grand piano, I always thought I was hearing before. The piano part is PERFECT.
Beautiful song . The Moody Blues are Unique . British Bands of that time were Amazing ! I am 62 now and I' m listening to them with the same admiration .
The World desperately needs a dose of TMB at this time in our history. These guys sang about evolution, peace, love, nature, and all of the good things life should have to offer.
@@trevorwilliams632 Meh, wouldn't call them "defunct," but without Ray Thomas and Mike Pinder there isn't much power left in them. Hayward and Lodge are starting to throttle back now, too, getting into more solo projects and stuff. Kinda hope Hayward and Lodge can put together one more album as a bookend to _Blue Jays_ and call it a career.
@@briane173 I recently read an interview from John Lodge who claims he wants to tour as a Moody Blue but Justin isn't interested, preferring his solo work with Julie Ragin and Mike Dawes. I met his daughter Emily who is also his manager teo years ago when John did a solo tour in the UK. I asked her if there were any future Moody Blues tours planned and she said John is interested but the others ( at that time Justin and Graeme) are not. I agree a follow up album to Blue Jay's would be nice but probably not realistic now Justin is living in Monaco with the studio in Italy conveniently close by..
Another magical song from The Moody's. I was young too, ages ago now. This reminds me how I was then. Thanks guys, sublime Music that passed the test of time 👏👏👏👏🎶🎶👍
I was in the barracks , 1970 , far away from home when my school girlfriend came to visit me and brought this magic song with her ... We turned it repeatedly on and on and on ... throughout the night ... enchanted for ever ...
The candle of life! It's not a video game or Facebook. It's real. It's life and it's time for all to know. It will go out in God's timing. Don't waste you're time on God's watch!!!
How many bands could lullaby a soul in difficult times, and spark them unto the greatest search of all time.?The Moody Blues are a Goldmine of sound and story.A gift in all seasons.
This was the first Moodies Album I bought, Children's Children in 69 or 70. They certainly influenced me profoundly. I'm sure they have heard it all from their fans and yes they are just Rock and Roll musicians, but somehow incredibly deep thoughts and feeling came through them. They were vessels for something our world individually and collectively yearn for. In my humble opinion. Thank you for sharing your videos.
I was 16 yrs old in 1971, We were setting up the weekend to be perfect at our friend's (parent's) house who was now living in an affluent part of Long Island... The parents were AWAY for a whole week on a cruise. One friend set up his super fine sound system. We all teamed up to prepare a weekend's worth of nutritious and tasty food, The "special" package we were anticipating finally arrived. It was sent from a friend who was attending UC Berkeley. The package contained "Window Pane". Carefully following instructions, laid out by Dr Tim Leary, we prepared the "set and setting" for the weekend's journey We were in need of absolutely NOTHING. The turntable was loaded with albums to play in succession. King Crimson, YES, ELP, Rennaisance, Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane, Beatles, It's a Beautiful Day, and of course THE MOODY BLUES. This was the first time I got to hear To Our Children's Children's Children in its entirety and that is when I fell in love with this album. This song Candle of Life is my all-time favorite. It's just perfection. That weekend was transformational... it set me off in a new direction.
I'm sitting listening to this unforgettable song of The Moody Blues, I always loved and cherished. Sitting with tears in my eyes loving every moment, thank you for this. My daughter and I saw the Moodies in Kingston Ontario at the K-Rock Centre this past year and totally loved it. I now write music and have been for years now with the Moody Blues as my mentors.
i miss my brother Michael who recently passed from stage 4 lymphoma cancer..he loved the Moody Blues..he was the glue who held our family together..such a joy in his personality..I MISS AND LOVE YOU MICHAEL
I think, if it would be possible to say that, The Moody Blues, their complete opus, especiallly their first eight, nine... albums, is the greatest music in the modern times of all...
This exquisite song barely has 700 000 hits on Spotify, whereas Shape of you by Ed Sheeran has 2,6 billion. I think Shape of you is a good song, but if only more people knew about this one. In my opinion this one should have at least 15 billion hits judging by how good it is.
I guess you can tell I love the Moody's, particularly so, since I really became aware of the words in a song for the first time. Coming home from Vietnam in 1970 I was sort of a lost soul. I found relief and solitude at the same time when I listened to their music. It was during this time depression became my friend and unknown to me at the time I would become a victim of what they now call PTSD. I don't know how I made it through those first years but I know the Moody's became part of my life. My turn around, to being a survivor was when the song "New Horizons" came out. That song along with others like "Melancholy Man" and "Candle of Life", will always be a part of my life.
then the Angels will take it from there! congratulations Sunil " love everybody and make them your friends" so important for you on earth I can not emphasize the spiritual importance of this for your spiritual evolution that goes on into eternity.
@@kentruthseeker I only know the truth when I put on To Our Childrens Children, In Search of the Lost Chord, On the Threshold of a Dream. Seventh Sojourn, Days of Future Passed Angelic scripture and it is dynamic with time.
I don't think the "Moodies" back in the day realised how spiritual their music was and is to many people including myself. I saw a SKY ARTS prog recently in which one of the band suggested their music was either drug or alchahol induced but it works for me.
MYGOD!!!! I love these guys. Their music is so timeless. The lyrics, the musical background, the wonderful voices, AMAZING!!!! I love Mike's keyboards, his melletron is so haunting. What a band!!!!
I can appreciate the fact that all of us (most of us?) respond to music such as this in the same way - an indication that you are another version of my Self - another instance of Me.
Their music is forever powerful, inspirational and hopeful. The Moodies instill a 'hope to cope,' in all-too many around the Earth, who've become exceedingly "lost in a lost world."
So glad to have been a part of their journey over the years!

Had "Isn't Life Strange" (my personal anthem) played as I walked down the aisle; and it is in my will that it will be played at my funeral. God bless the Moodies!
My Dad brought me here..!! Miss you Dad ...
I am 27 and I have always loved the Moody Blues. My favorite song is Question. 💗✌
Candle of Life is a beautiful song 🎶.
Ii recently bought a CD with this song onit and played it while driving my son to his karate class. At 10 yrs. old he wants to hear it over and again. Good music just gets passed on...
Lodge knocked it out of the Solar System with this timeless melody. .. And with the wisdom of having Haywards voice deliver it
@@WilliamFrancoJCML2006 I recognize Pinder is the sound of the Moodies, as is Tony Banks, Genesis. Two of my 3 favorite bands.
@@MrAdvance2go Yeah, I think it's Pinder on the mellortron, which I only realized a couple of yeas back isn't really even a grand piano, I always thought I was hearing before. The piano part is PERFECT.
@@harponercam are you The Nancy Wilson from ❤?
This was largely written by Pinder,
Hayward
it was a gift from Mike Pinder
This is one of their best ever songs , deep mystical and the video is very complimentary.
Oh my God how beautiful, gives me the shivers.I'm 56 and only just found this.
They play for over 50 years..unforgettably!
RIP Ray Thomas your candle has come and gone but the warmth of your candle will live in our memories with warm love
RAY IS ON ETERNITY ROAD MY LOVE.....WE SHALL ALL MEET THERE ONE DAY... 😇😇😇💖💖💖💫💫💫💫🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🚀🚀
The BEST Up There King Ray Thomas.... Be Blessed Allways
We love you Ray Thomas your candle still burns*
Lovely eulogy. Thank you for sharing this with us.
One of best rock bands ever!!!
Beautiful song . The Moody Blues are Unique . British Bands of that time were Amazing ! I am 62 now and I' m listening to them with the same admiration .
So true,magical :-D
The World desperately needs a dose of TMB at this time in our history. These guys sang about evolution, peace, love, nature, and all of the good things life should have to offer.
Big Time Dose!
It's five years later and our world is even more desperate.
@@briane173 yes you are right and to make matters worse the Moody Blues are now defunct.
One of the greatest songs of all time.
This song is so beautiful that it makes me cry
I can thank you tube for many things. This song is special. Reminds me of my youth. Thanks you tube
Fantastic song from a fantastic group.
The most exquisite music ever created by man. Shame on the R & R hall of fame for not inducting them by the1990's
Another magical song from The Moody's. I was young too, ages ago now. This reminds me how I was then. Thanks guys, sublime Music that passed the test of time 👏👏👏👏🎶🎶👍
such an amazing song ! My seacond most favorite! And question
I was in the barracks , 1970 , far away from home when my school girlfriend came to visit me and brought this magic song with her ... We turned it repeatedly on and on and on ... throughout the night ... enchanted for ever ...
The imagery of the candle burning and our lives is so intense, yet peaceful.
Justin Hayward’s voice and Mike Pinnder on Melatron produced pure Magic !💕☺️👍
But IT isJohns voice and song
La fe,la esperanza,y amor son tus velas cuídalas son nuestra felicidad ❤❤❤
This album, I believe, was way ahead of its time. It has such an ethereal sound to it. Amazing!!
You really do create beautiful videos. Thank you for sharing them with us
The candle of life! It's not a video game or Facebook. It's real. It's life and it's time for all to know. It will go out in God's timing. Don't waste you're time on God's watch!!!
I'm 44 and kinda favorited this..
As a child I'd get the speakers and lay down between them, put on the Moody Blues and shut out everything else,TY for posting!
Same here, with the lights off. Just the glow from the stereo.
;)
Vicki- I still do (or put headphones on)
Ah, yes... "Thinking (and listening) IS the best way to travel."
So glad you found music from an early age, i just got into them around about 2000, wish i had sooner to enjoy the music with the years i have left!
Beautiful video for this amazing song. Tks for posting it. Still loving the Moody Blues at age 69.❤😊.
How many bands could lullaby a soul in difficult times, and spark them unto the greatest search of all time.?The Moody Blues are a Goldmine of sound and story.A gift in all seasons.
they must be wise men
This was the first Moodies Album I bought, Children's Children in 69 or 70.
We all teamed up to prepare a weekend's worth of nutritious and tasty food,
The "special" package we were anticipating finally arrived. It was sent from a friend who was attending UC Berkeley. The package contained "Window Pane".
Carefully following instructions, laid out by Dr Tim Leary, we prepared the "set and setting" for the weekend's journey
We were in need of absolutely NOTHING.
So love everybody and make them your friend ! - love this song..- Tom B, 70 yrs young - Delaware via Brooklyn NY
ONE OF THE MANY MASTERPIECES REALISTIC, COMFORTING,PERFECTLY BROUGHT TO LIFE BY THE GREATEST BAND EVER ASSEMBLED!
I. Love. The. Moody. Blues. Period. They are incredible. Best music in the entire galaxy. Shame on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
You are correct they are incredible very underrated at least in the U.S.A.. I do not know why they are not in RRHOF. Maybe someday they will be.
Prayer answered
Finally the got induced, what they definitely deserved!!!
Hall of fame is a joke. Just take a look what " rock and roll" artists are in.
I feel the same- The Moody Blues are the Best!
We grow up in the hands of time...
Wonderful song🤗❤️
Hauntingly beautiful. ❤
La voix de Hayward, le mellotron de Pinder, les voix de Lodge et Thomas créent cette musique magique.
i miss my brother Michael who recently passed from stage 4 lymphoma cancer..he loved the Moody Blues..he was the glue who held our family together..such a joy in his personality..I MISS AND LOVE YOU MICHAEL

The most touching and intelligent lyrics ever put to the most sublime music of that generation.
And i was one of them.
John Lodge and Justin Hayward are not only prolific musicians but outstanding poets as well. Their songs go so beyond the material world....
Great band, beautiful music. Only Justin Hayward can sing it.❤
Thank you Ken...I like to one day make a new video celebrating the beauty of this classic song which is one of my favorite Moodies songs!
I think, if it would be possible to say that, The Moody Blues, their complete opus, especiallly their first eight, nine... albums, is the greatest music in the modern times of all...
Well said, sir. I have always exulted in their music - and it adds to the poignancy to hear them now across the gulf of 50 years.
@slodoban zelika
..you might get some arguments about that from Beatles fans.
I bought The Album Back In 1973 My Mum Loved This Track.Thanx For Uploading.

All of those are in my top ten MB song list.
Glad you made it.

@@kentruthseeker I only know the truth when I put on To Our Childrens Children, In Search of the Lost Chord, On the Threshold of a Dream. Seventh Sojourn, Days of Future Passed Angelic scripture and it is dynamic with time.
There is nothing as powerful as the words and melody of a gentle genius, as this song so brilliantly illustrates.
You could try Rush !!!
I agree, I knew there was something about this group, back 50 years ago! I was only 10 back then , but have loved their music since then!!
You stated the right way Mr Evans I’ll add something else this kind of music is the difference between good feelings and noise.
Very true
Their songs warm my heart & even bring a tear to my eyes
Their music is forever powerful, inspirational and hopeful. The Moodies instill a 'hope to cope,' in all-too many around the Earth, who've become exceedingly "lost in a lost world."
