That was a more peaceful world. Especially with the Moodie Blues playing on my eight track player in my car or this album playing in my apartment. No cell phone,, no TV. Just my stereo.
We must be the same age and we have both been on the Moodies journey, what great days they were ,not a trouble in the world ,just need our time machine to go back ,
Back in the early 1970s I would put the Moody Blues on my turntable, plug in my headphones, lay down on my bed and close my eyes and just drift off to another world. The Moody Blues are my favorite group of all time and have been fortunate to see them in concert several times. There will never be another pioneering group as great as the Moody Blues. Don't tell anyone but I am 54 years old and still a member of the Moody Blues fan club.
Wow, after a day in todays world I kicked back and put this on and it not only put me in a different world, it brought tears to my eyes, there will never be another Moody Blues.
Don't be so sure of that! I too went to Woodstock, wrote poetry (that I shall publish this year), married a great Lady who gave birth to a new generation of children who think, love, and are creative in turn. The wheel has not stopped turning, and beautiful people (Melanie's great ballad) still come forth from God. Be of good cheer. Yes, we know the Phillistines prance around their phony stage and make noise ... but they DON'T extinguish the flame of Life and will be history soon.
I took my 15 year old son to see The Moody Blues last night and he loved it. This was one of the songs they played. I told him to find ANY band out there that sounds this good after 42 years! This band belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and we as fans should make sure this happens!! Thank you for posting this video. DJChas
The Moodies made it into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame on August 13, 2018. It should have happened sooner but I read that Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones has influence with that organization and he didn’t like the Moody Blues. They finally made it though.
The Moody Blues became my favorite band almost 50 years ago. After all the great music released in that time, the Moody Blues are still my favorite band. Great composers of beautiful music, which will live on for centuries.
I got out of the Army in January 1972 and when I moved into my apartment my brother had recorded almost 6 complete albums on a Wollensak reel to reel single tape. That was my introduction to them and I have loved their music ever since. Never listened to anything else for months.
Simply one of the top 5 or ten bands ever to many, but in my top three, Behind Led Zeppelin and the Who...No one now or ever wrights this kind of "take me to a distant land of wonder and miraculous visions" kind of Music...They are truly timeless. Screw the Rock and Roll Hall of frauds. What do they know...(??)
Despite all the loss and heartache, sadness and depression I've suffered, this song reminds me that behind this illusion, there is pure magic as well as purpose, simply because we exist in the first place...or as John Lennon said in a song - 'projecting our images in space and in time"
Moody Blues have to be in the top five of all rock groups. Their unique sound and dreamy lyrics always took us on surreal, incredible trips of love, peace, harmony, acceptance, tolerance and togetherness, and Brotherhood. What a great era, in which they played a huge part... WE were lucky to grow in the times where love, peace and free love and protest and hope was espoused, and not violence nor gun ownership... OH how lucky WE were.
@@ai.201 The group "OM" is even MORE spiritual...they will put you in a "trance"if your not careful! How about the "YES"band? ENYA is pretty evolved also!

I went out of state to college in 1970 freshman year. I did not know myself but I knew The Moody Blues recordings. I never lost the love of the power they created. My God has patience and love for me and brings me home each time I reach for him through their creations.
Somehow, this song is quintessential Moodies. Without getting into details, the nights I spent with my wife in our younger years listening to this and other Moody Blues songs were some of the greatest nights ever. The melodies bring back thoughts of a time when life was less encumbered. The Moody Blues are one of the great bands of all time.

This song has become the hymn for my depression, in a nice way. It's a signal of hope, it's my light at the end of the tunnel. It's what reminds me that tomorrow will be another day, and it will be better than yesterday. If it wasn't for this song and the wonderful memories it brings to my mind, remembering seeing my dad happy for the first time after his divorce with my ma, I would've committed suicide in June '20. This song, literally saved my life.
There is always a song of hope in the Moody blues so stay positive and tomorrow will be better if you allow it to be. Songs like this one take us back to magical times around Arthur etc. best time of our history. Merlin etc. stay positive and plan your future and go for it. Good luck my friend.

I've been a huge Moody Blues fan since the late 60s. This song highlights how, in my opinion, Justin Hayward had the most beautiful male voice ever in the history of pop/rock music. It's good to see that even now, there are so many of you out there who still understand and appreciate how incredible this music was, and sad to think that it's like will never again be created.

Those pieces which are not "their most favored work" are among the best, and because they got little air play except on FM back in the late 60s/early 70s, it becomes a well-kept secret that those of us who revere the Moody Blues have had all to ourselves. 2022 bump. This song captured the romantic dreamscape of psychedelia perfectly. Really evoked a mystical fantasy you wanted to believe in. The 60's were a creative Renaissance for sure...
Can not believe the comments on drugs and religion. The Moody Blues music for me transcends the soul. A journey outside the everyday experience. Philosophers ever since Plato and Aristotle have pondered the reality that we can not see, that which is not in the physical realm. The Moody Blues music helps you feel a small piece of this reality.
