It's sad to me that these kinds of plug-ins exist. Sure, the tone is great, but it's also boring. As a culture, we've kinda "decided" this quality of distortion is good enough for any heavy music. It's sad to me
With any plug-in I think there’s a time and place for all of them. The application for this may be for demo purposes or maybe a third guitar in the mix to add fullness.
when it comes to plugins like this it's not a matter of if its boring or not (which is entirely personal preference), it's a matter of if it works in a mix and makes it a lot more streamlined to get a good guitar tone that sits well in a mix, these plugins aren't necessarily made to cater to guitarists that are looking for diversity but rather producers who are looking for consistency.
Idk I think it's nice for people that don't want to spend forever tone chasing and just turn something on and be happy out of the box. Sometimes you just wanna play guitar and not worry about all the rest!
you start to appreciate them more the moment you start writing songs and mix them yourself. Tweeking so much on the guitar amp gets so annoying when you have 20 other things to mix aswell.
