I don't know a single person in the scene who knows them, let alone is influenced by them. I think they're in this "internet nerd metal" bubble that exists, but nobody outside of it cares about.
that trick with Saturn on the DI is sick.. I love how much clarity of that pick attack it's getting for sure. you cracked me up with sample of the room next door.
When I was younger, before djent was a word, my buddy and I always called it the "gonk" and still do, lol. Like Meshuggah, early Architects, it still just sounds like a gonk to me
This was so fucking great to watch, man you’ve got such a talent. The next door drill section and automating it into an intro piece was so good lmao. Bravo man
I've been using Saturn and later on Saturn 2 for years pretty much every time I wanted to shape the tone. Not just guitar or bass tone, literally every tone. Vocals, drums, woodwind etc. etc. It's my most used plugin ever.
This was a fun one! I like how creative this episode got. Using a lot of different elements. The end product kind of made me think of Termina. Sounds sick!
Learned so much on this one video. 1. Never knew they reversed one guitar for that ambient sound. Immediately going to incorporate that. 2. That triplet scratch that you did. Never knew you could do that. 3. I’m new to logic and never was able to figure out how to do takes. So I always recorded and then immediately deleted to redo the take which takes for ever. 4. Definitely going to get Saturn now. 5. I never thought about using the keyboard to input the bass notes. My dumbass always put it in using the mouse for each individual note. Which also takes ages. Thank you. I’ll be referring to this video for a while. Instant sub.
What could be happening with your whammy is that it is providing a buffer to your signal which adds clarity to the DI. I saw a video years back about doing this with any old Boss pedal and the results imo are worth having even just a boss tuner in line before you hit the preamp.
@@BrendonKPadjasek or you can turn your WH4 true bypass easily. Lot of DIY on web. Me I used the EHX killswitch (named chill switch now) to loop my WH4 in a true bypass way.
Thall Thursday didn't disappoint! Awesome stuff Nick! Could you imagine doing a Video on your processing some day? Especially on the guitar bus and the master bus chain. I can't get my Archetype Nolly to sound anything as close to that good to be honest.
@@nickbroomhallmusic John Browne did a video about these clean sounds from early Fellsilent, Monuments and stuff. They used to dial these on Pod XT Live. Great stuff, check it out!
First time seeing the channel. I’m recognizing your whammy issue here. I went through this and found a rock solid solution. I ended up trying the electro harmonix pitchfork + with my mission engineering expression pedal. Problem 100% solved. The pitchfork + isn’t quite as plug and play friendly as the whammy but once you get it setup you’ll be blown away. I now wonder why everyone raves about the whammy when the pitchfork does it so much better. I found the whammy having a sort of ripping sound sometimes. The pitchfork is way smoother sounding. Worth checking out
Honestly I though of just doing it all digitally with Archetype Gojira 🤷♂️ I’m still happy with the Whammy though, doesn’t bother me too much. I never have it engaged unless I’m actively using it.
been messing with that pre amp multi band saturation for a few months now and it's really just the best thing ever, it's basically letting you make a custom overdrive pedal
In all seriousness though, there is very little thall tutorials out there other than Andrew and Johnnys tutorial and would absolutely love to see a tutorial or even just another thall thursday here and there would be so cool. I hope to one day do a one on one sesh with you Nick. I feel like you have infinite knowledge to teach.

Nick Bruthall. That’s a nice name for a death core vocalist
If you’d told me in 2008 that Vildhjarta would be not only relevant, but very influential 15 years later, I’d have thought you were nuts.

They are the only band that each new single/album is better than the last. Other than Stoort, which Calle is also in.
You NEED to turn this into a full song! I absolutely love it!
That Saturn trick with the DI was one of the best I've seen yet. Truly the hot sauce of mixing plugins
I'm a simple man, I see the thall, I must have the thall

it must come to life as a full track. i can easily imagine guys like Alessandro Zilio ripping a sick guest solo over this.
amazing, Nick.
The whammy has a really aggressive high cut filter to mask the digital artifacts it introduces
Oh interesting! That makes sense. I definitely want to look into it a little more just to know exactly what it does. Still my fav pedal tho 🧡
Nick, these videos are unbelievably inspiring!! Without a doubt, my favorite weekly youtube series 😀

I've been messing with pre distortion di treatment for a long time (mostly weird eq curves) but never though of saturation before. This is great.
EQ before the amp is also nice. I'm kinda getting the same effect with Saturn but with Saturn I can also saturate
