The set of this video is taken from the movie en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Strangelove, a Stanley Kubrick masterpiece. The song is obviously about the atom bomb and time running out: Too late to save the planet: Sycophants are in charge - thus the entire album revolves around a rebellious feeling against "the fat cats". RISE UP!!
Yeah, that was the song that got me into Muse. The vocals are so unusual that you have to stop and listen to their entire discography just to hear the different vocal techniques Matt does with his voice. He is one of the most underrated singers today, that man sings the shit out of a song. Overall Muse is still not as popular as you would expect from a band that can turn out hit after hit, they deserve more recognition than what they have.
Muse are one of the few bands who really are best live. Their live shit rocks so much harder than anything done in the studio. Check out anything from their Glastonbury 2014 set to start off :)
From all genres ive never seen anything like it. back to fanboy on it from 10 years ago and apparently the rome live is even more appreciated. matts from another dimension i swear
@@robgraveson I was at Glastonbury that year. In the finale "Knights of Cydonia" his voice went so high at one point the speakers stopped picking it up 😆
@@michaelgartly3753 When watching him sing and knowing how he is actually doing the stuff he is doing you understand why the breaths are in there. He keeps his larynx always at a neutral position, he does NOT raise it to raise the pitch of a note (unless going into a falsetto/mixed voice), he then pushes quite a bit of air to get the compressed sound and force enough air while compressing the sound to cause the vibrato to always be there even when compressing his voice. Its a very tricky technique. He is also classically trained, I am pretty sure they would have said something about it if he had breathing control problems. Instead I believe he uses the breaths as sort of an effect. Like if you watch this video to time is running out. He is NOT actually compressing his voice on the 2nd verse to cause the distortion, he is literally pressing his mouth so far into the mic and using the mic's distortion that happens when you are that close to the mic. Its a smart choice, because everyone knows using vocal distortion too much can ruin a voice, he is preserving his. Also the other guy who said he use to have an impressive range, is wrong, he still has the same vocal range. The only thing he did differently from his earlier days was work on his mixed voice and now he uses his mixed voice a lot more than he use to. He still is a fantastic singer. The breathing he can do with or without it in there, I've actually seen performances from him where he forgot to add a breath that was originally there. He also controls the volume of his voice himself. Just about everything you hear from him is always him doing the effects that most of us think was done with software. He has discovered some really unique ways to mimic certain sounds to create an effect over his voice. But I get why you would think he had breathing control issues and its unexpected when you first hear it since most people try to get rid of that. He could get rid of it post production but he chooses to leave it in, so he is treating it as if its an actual effect and for him it is.
Fun story. Matt Bellamy married my good friend’s niece, and long story short I was fortunate enough to spend Thanksgiving with him a few years ago. He’s such a great guy!
One of the best gigs I've ever been to was Muse at Wembley stadium, 80,000 people were jumping up and down to this song, magical, I had such a good time I missed my train home.
You want even more energy from Muse? Try Knights of Cydonia. And yes, they put on a great show live. Tons of energy and great musicianship. They sound flawless live.
Uno, Muscle Museum, Unintended, Plug in Baby, New Born, Feeling Good, Hysteria, Supermassive Black Hole, Panic Station..... you have a 20+ year catalog to listen through.
I saw them in Concert in Montreal in 2018 and they were phenomenal! The whole band is great! I can’t wait for life to come back to normal so I can go see them again. 🤞🏼
This is the song that made me fall in love with MUSE. I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as I did my first time hearing it. Never gets old for me. Listen to "Pressure". Also "Stockholm Syndrome" and "Hysteria". But everyone who said this is right-- MUSE are soooooo good live. It's incredible. 🐾
Many of their song have an apocalyptical undertone, gems like "Stockholm Syndrome" "Butterflies and Hurricanes" and my favorite curveball song of theirs "Take a Bow" just classic
I love Muse, Matt Bellamy is awesome. Anything live from Rome is a good bet. That was the last tour I saw them & it was one of my top 5 shows. This gets a lot of airplay in my car
Watch the live version from Rome Olympic stadium instead. It's like a completely different song. I don't really like the studio version either, sounds like they play inside an empty can o beans.
Yesssssssss Muse!!!! Supermassive black hole and plug in baby and Muscle Museum - Unintended is another good one but they def are incredible you're bang on!
Their song "New Born" is a wild ride that I first discovered on the soundtrack of one of the scariest French horror movies I've ever seen, High Tension.
You've got to listen to more muse they are simply amazing. Knights of cydonia live at Rome Olympic stadium is a must listen, as well as hysteria at Wembley.
Ooh I rushed over here straight away ! One of my favourite muse tracks ! More please ...( “:hysteria “ if you haven’t already done it) love your reactions ! ( showing my age here but they remind me of depeche mode ,would love some reactions to them !)
I remember learning this song when I was going to music college and it has one of the most emotional Pre-chorus I’ve ever heard from them it’s so emotive and suspenseful pure artistic talent.
One of the best live bands of the 2000's. You should check out Supermassive Black Hole, Knights of Cydonia, or Starlight from their Wembly 2007 (H.A.A.R.P) concert on youtube.
My favourite band. Please try Butterflies And Hurricanes, and Supermassive Black Hole. You'll be really surprised by Butterflies And Hurricanes, it switches up in an amazing way. And you cannot miss out on Knights Of Cydonia.
Can I recommend their song “Butterflies and Hurricanes” and I also recommend their song “The Void”. Also could you check out a band called Steam Powered Giraffe? I would listen to their song “Brass Goggles” first
My fav band of all time is Duran Duran but love Muse. Saw them live and they were the best live. They have sooo many awesome songs. Map of the Problematic is my fav and love their version of Feeling Good. Matthew Bellamy the singer is sooo awesome.
Great reaction to an amazing band!👏 They have to be seen live to appreciate their genius! I've seen them live 5 times over the past 10 years - UN-BELIEV-ABLE! Their back catalogue is huge and they're all amazing songs. The siger Matt Bellamy is one of those rare multi-talented musicians that can write, sing and play so many instruments - they are perfectionists with everything they do. Try 'Knights of Cydonia' or from their more recent stuff "The Handler" - great videos too!
So glad you did some more Muse! I would recommend their live version of Knights of Cydonia at the Rome Olympic Stadium, Madness (maybe this one from their 2018 tour) , and their music videos for Dead Inside and Break it to Me.
Saw muse 2004 glastonbury, was right at the front with a line of security blocking my view most of the time, by the end of the gig i had a cut on my leg a ripped t-shirt, a lump on my head, several bruised ribs from being crushed.... Best live ahow i been to 😜
Such an epic band. As many say, even better live than on record. Some other songs I'm sure you will love (and will give you a flavor of the diversity they bring in their music). I've thrown some absolute classics and some curveballs in here. Go for live versions where you can my man & keep up the incredible work. Love your channel! - Hysteria - New Born - Madness - Starlight - Knights of Cydonia - Plug in Baby - Supermassive Black Hole - Dig Down - Invincible
Try "Plug in baby" from them. Can we also say that Matthew Bellamy is one of the best singers in the whole music industry? This guy is a phenomenon, and you're never disappointed live!
'Plug In Baby' will knock your socks off (amongst others). Muse & Kasabian are amongst the more "modern-era" rock bands that I find truly original ❤ They are amazing. Matt's voice *chills
Yeah Muse is great, I forget to listen to them more. One in the group of those great 2000's rock bands that still feels new to listen to today. Check out "Madness".
Undoubtedly one of the best bands ever created...especially live!!! (Theres lots on YT) Other recommendations would be 'Newborn' or 'Madness' but the epic track list is endless x
My favorite of theirs is "Super Massive Black Hole", it gets you singing and jamming along to it. They are so heavy on the bass and moody/intense but smooth too. I have never seen the live but I imagine you would walk out of the venue and not be able to hear. LOL
Muse are truly amazing in every way. This song like so many of theirs can be viewed on a personal level but also on a global level often relating to the politics ruling our world. Love that you enjoy them so much, you have so so many more to get into. Check out Hysteria, Plug in baby, Super massive black hole, Sing for Absolution and Butterflies and Hurricanes. That's just to start as there are so many incredible songs and then of course you need to see their live performances as they will blow you away !!!
Muse uprising reaction ua-cam.com/video/jXKCUh3lZaQ/v-deo.html&ab_channel=JayveeTV
The live performances in Rome would be good to react to, you would be impressed.
You need to react to supremacy by Muse. It was definitely written for a James Bond movie but never got picked!

Another and perhaps their most iconic song - 'Plug in baby' - is a belter, you;ll love it.
just watch it live from Wembley or other live performance
Aaaaawwesome song! Muse are amazing

Absolutely agree with every word!
